Alright, I'm not much of a cyclist. A friend of mine just signed up for a big fundraiser ride next summer. She's not much of a cyclist either. Her first real ride was yesterday and she almost killed herself because no one explained how her new bike actually worked. We stopped in to this place with questions. Wow even though she bought her bike at another shop, they were more than happy to help! Customer service isn't dead after all. These guys are knowledgeable and friendly. Kurt took time to explain everything we needed to know and more. At one point, the entire staff stopped to share their own experience with biking. It's hard to imagine a more dedicated team of guys. I bought a Specialized Tarmac Comp there a couple weeks ago, it arrived 4 or 5 days ago, and I picked it up today. They gave me a great deal, a huge in store credit, and spent huge amounts of time with me, answering questions, making sure the bike size was right, etc., so I'd feel good about the bike. I know enough about road and TT bikes to get by, but these guys really know bikes. My backgroud in triathlon, and within that it is swimming. And having told them that, they knew exactly where I was coming from. I was between sizes, 54 and 56, and leaning toward a 56. They didn't have a 54 in the store for me, so they ordered it. I had to pay for it before it arrived in order to get a sale price. They put in writing that, since there wasn't one there in stock for me to take for a spin, I could either exchange it for the 56 or get all my money back if I didn't like the 54. How's that for customer focus? The one hiccup in my experience was this: I bought the bike on Saturday, called 2 Mondays later, and was told it would probably arrive the next day, but not to worry, they'd call me. Well, somehow it slipped through the cracks and I never got a call, even though the bike had arrived. When I called them on Friday they apologized and informed me that the bike was there and ready for me to pick up. I typically ride distance on Saturdays and do my distance runs on Sundays, so it would have been nice to have taken care of this during the week so I didn't have to juggle around my schedule. But regardless of the idiosyncracies of my schedule, the investment was a whole lot of money for me and I would have liked the phone call telling me it was there. It shouldn't have been sitting there Tuesday-Friday without me knowing about it. However, these guys know bikes, they pay attention to their customers, are polite, and they have a great line of bikes and other cycling necessities in the store. They should definitely be on your short list of shops when you're looking for your next ride. read more

This is one of the best shops on the westside if you're looking for performance road and mountain bikes. I've been coming here since they opened up shop, back in 2006-ish or so. The team there is helpful with everything from small parts to complete bike sales. One thing to know for shoppers is that this is a Specialized concept store. So you're in luck if you want to see the full range of bikes by Specialized like the rarer S-Works bikes and frames. Wil, Jim and Willy have been there since day one. It feels like a cycling family every time I stop by. The clothing and accessory selection is unique in that they carry higher end brands that are often only available on mail order. read more

I thought that the Cynergy team members were extremely professional, courteous, and helpful. I am a total newbie, and I was interested in buying an intro road bike for quite some time. All of the guys were extremely patient with me and never once took advantage of my lack of knowledge in the sport. They diligently helped me with my bike sizing and adjustments. They even put up with my ridiculous questions on bike colors and apparel. They have a ton of knowledge about cycling but will never look down on you or make you feel dumb. Their speed of reply on email when I first emails deem from Australia was great. When I arrived for some holidays in Santa Monica I made a bee line straight for John at Cynergy. When I walked in the door the service was great and friendly. I then met John, who was great. Not only did he have a few options of the SL4 Tarmac frame in stock, he also had a LTD edition frame in my size. The pricing was very competitive, but their service was first class. I ended up committing to the purchase when I was down in Anaheim and John drove the frame set and handlebars down to Disneyland on a Thursday afternoon. I HAVE NEVER EXPERIENCED SUCH GREAT SERVICE IN ANY RETAIL SECTOR let alone a bike shop. I will be sure to be purchasing many more items via email and USPS from John and the team at Cynergy. Went in for a basic $100 road bike fitting w Patrick...super friendly and knowledgable guy...spent an hour with me discussing my goals w cycling, taking measurements of my whole bike and body and fine tuning the bike until it was fit to me. This place is also a bike shop so I was wary that the fit service was a way to get you in the door to sell you their parts...he didn't try to sell a thing to me and got all my existing equipment fit properly to my body. Then he showed me how to use my body to make the most of my newly calibrated bike. I've seen other places that charge $450 for body motion capture and extensive flexibility testing over the course of 4 hours - I really have no idea if that sort of thing is worth it for a truly hardcore racer but seems like overkill IMO. I ride 100-150 miles a week mainly for exercise and enjoyment. This basic fit got all the moving parts of the bike setup correctly to my body and provided instruction on how to properly use it to avoid sore muscles and burn out. Great service! read more

Very nice, high-end bike shop. They couldn't really help when I needed something for my vintage Trek, but they were very nice and gave me some people who could help. So a few months later, when my GF was looking for a new bike, I brought her to Cynergy. They were very helpful and set her up with a Globe bike that she absolutely loves. When I go to Cynergy, the guys were so nice, when I asked if they could put the bike rack on my car-they said "no problem" and meant it. No eye rolling like I got up the street. The friendly service by each salesperson, all who have expertise and knowledge about road and mountain bikes,are like no other in the area.The offer great service and their service department will do anything to assist you in getting your bike fixed, adjusted or just built in a timely manner so you can get out to ride. They really are genuinely concerned about each customer, no matter their level of fitness or knowledge maintaining their own bikes. There are a lot of bicycle shops in town but none offer the full service and desire to make you feel like you are apart of a family like Cynergy. I am new to LA, just moved from NY 2 weeks ago. I rolled into Cynergy w/ a sliced tire, which I had cobbled back together (long story). Lisa (manager) dropped everything she was doing and put a brand new S-Works Turbo tire on my rear wheel and had my gears adjusted. They actually didn't have the exact tire I needed/wanted, so Lisa had a mechanic take one off a new bike from the display window! I can't say enough good things about things about this joint! Lisa and Kyle (mechanic) are 2 of the nicest bike shop employees I have ever met. read more

They have lots of bikes, not at good prices. The clothing is expensive too. Be careful ordering bikes and parts from them (as in, they don't have it in stock and do a special order). I tried to get a cassette once, they said they would order it in a few days. A week later I call and I'm told they will do it soon. I call a few days after that and get the same response. A week after that I hear that they can't find the part so they can't get it for me. The mechanics do know a lot, and the people on the floor are all nice. It's the prices and getting stuff from them that is difficult. If you need bike work done, it can take over a week, and you have to leave your bike with them. read more

The Shop itself looks great. Very nice building, but what kills me is the attitude they had every time I went to cynergy. I first bought a Specialized entry level over there and I think the guy was more interested in selling the bike instead of giving me some great advices. It was just a bad purchase. I'd rather to spend more money and get a nicer bike, but I guess he was eager to get his commission instead of helping me with my first road bike. A month later, I went to their service department to check how can I upgrade some components on my bike. Again, lots of atitude and cockiness. It was just super frustrating. Their Service manager was supposed to call me with a quote and he NEVER did. I called him and I felt he was just super lazy and all he can say was: "We are slammed over here, I'll give you a call tomorrow". It just never happened. I don't recommend them because I feel like there are better options around Santa Monica / West side. The products they have are great, but the service and staff are weird. Totally lame. Anyways, I checked Helens Bike and It was a totally different experience. read more

Got a great deal on a bike (lower than cost)! Had a few miscommunications but the Manager seemed to clear everything up. Definitely carry well built bikes with a large selection. Maybe needs a few more mechanics working and also make sure to inspect/tune the bike before letting the customer leave. Also make sure all the spokes are tightened (2 spokes were ridiculously loose). Other than that the sales staff is helpful and knowledgeable. I would go here again. read more

Shameful customer service and repair shop. Long time cyclist, who (thought) had found his local shop in Santa Monica. Brought in my bike, after a minor repair (from Cynergy) appeared to not be corrected--the repair tech 'Michael' did not believe that 'his work' could be 'questioned'. After asking to speak with a manager, I was introduced to 'Will'; the most condescending manger/salesperson I have ever encountered. After belittling my claim, he called me a 'liar' and refused to speak (rationally) about anything. Long story short, STAY AWAY! There are more important things in life to waste your time on than these 'employees'.. Remember 'Will'--the customer is always right! read more

As far as sales is concerned, they seem to have a pretty average selection of brands. Their custom service is awful however---the staff seems to be essentially clueless when it comes to the differences between their own products, and they'll treat you like a child if you leave your $9k superbike at home and arrive on something more suitable for urban transportation. Seems to cater to affluent, jobless club riders. My low opinion of this shop makes my weekly beatdowns of their sponsored race team all the more fulfilling. read more

Having been to several of the other cycle shops in the area, I can tell you these guys are solid. Everyone I have spoken to there has been friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. They mostly carry specialized. I was in there, almost ready to buy a bike; they had put on some accessories for me, all ready to have the transaction go through and had been having some hesitations about the color (it was a pretty strong shade of green) Anyway. The guy who had been helping me was not thrilled when I expressed my hesitations at the last minute, and walked away saying "you'll need to talk to the manager", but hey - it's my money being spent here. So anyway - I waited around, had them track him down. The manager, Jim, was great. I offered to pay for the labor charges (they'd spent time fitting accessories and so on for me), but he just waved me away. He emphasized that I'm the one going to be riding it, so it has to be the right one for me. I appreciated Jim's understanding and flexibility, and that he didn't push me into a sale that wasn't right for me. If I decide that the bike they have is the one for me, I would have no hesitation in going back there to purchase it - it's a solid place, and the people there really know their stuff. read more

Took off one star because they tried to up sell a lot of accessories I didn't need... But that's to be expected since it's apart of the business. I just stumbled across Cynergy when I was looking for a place to work work on my old Specialized Enduro FSR after moving to the area (I was told it had a Specialized propietary hub that required a Specialized Dealer to service). I am so glad I did because these guys have been great to me. The prices aren't insulting, they carrry great gear and they have always been more than friendly. Jim especially has always gone the extra mile for me. I have since bought a new Specialized Transistion from them and I absolutely love it. They don't work on commision and therefore are more concerned you getting what you need then anything else. read more

Cynergy Cycles primarily carries Specialized products, so if you are interested in other brands I recommend you go elsewhere. I was very pleased with my experience, however. The prices are fairly competitive with other local bike shops. The store is nicely laid out and very clean. What I was really impressed by was the way the staff (namely Steven Carre) went out of their way to explain and fit me into the right product. As a first time road bike purchaser I needed extra guidance and assistance. And what I really liked was they did not pressure me into an expensive product or a product into inventory they needed to clear out. I will definitely go back to purchase equipment from them in the future!! read more

I had a flat tire, I called this store since they were the nearest bicycle shop to me. They quoted me $10 for a tire + another $10. Whether or not this was some type of misunderstanding I'm not sure. My bill after I left came out to $75. Helen's cycles for my front tire and tube came out to half that price. read more

For starters, when we called them for a quote they said it would be $25. But when they "fixed" it, the problem is no better, AND they charged us $40. And when we said the problem is still there, they gave us extreme attitude and they got extremely aggressive. The mechanic said, "don't get smart with me" and he also brought up his ex pro racing career. I know for a FACT that he never raced pro. Then we talked to another employee (who was helpful, too bad she wasn't the mechanic at the shop) and she said they would talk to the mechanic. The mechanic "fixed" it again and it felt no different. Since it was closing time we had to leave. When we were in the parking lot packing up, the employees came out and said, "hey bro, I thought you were some other kid. That's why I was being rude". After he said this I questioned why he would on purposely be rude to a paying customer. And I thought to myself that the manager probably told him to apologize, but he wasn't manly enough to do so, so he have a crap excuse to be rude. I am now forced to pay $40, go home, and fix the problem myself. Complete joke of a shop. Never going there again, unless it's to rub in their face that I can fix bikes better than them. read more
