For anyone who is considering using this company's cleaning services, I highly suggest you read my review first before you decide to give your hard earned money to this morally bankrupt company. It is common for residents of the Bay Area to take the treatment of customers seriously and I ask for those who read this to stand in solidarity with me as it can help create a positive change internally for this company. I will try to be as concise as possible while still addressing the complete hell I have experienced by hiring this company. The cleaning experience: I hired this company to clean my 1 bedroom apartment in Oct. 2018. To give you an idea of the state of my apartment: the night before the cleaners came I Swiffer cleaned the ENTIRE apartment, there was no rubbish laying around and the apartment was generally clean. I even dusted all surfaces. I did this in order to alleviate the cleaners from having to focus on the bigger things which I could handle myself, that way they could focus on the spots that were harder for me to clean simply because I do not have the proper tools. The morning the two cleaners came, I gave them detailed instructions of what needed to be done and what did not need to be done. I even pointed out each area just so there would be no confusion. The two cleaners quoted me a time period of 2.5 hours which I found to be a little strange as it takes me less time to deep clean my apartment alone. There were TWO cleaners on the job. But, I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt because I thought perhaps the areas I instructed would take a little more time. I came back after just a little over 2 hours in hopes of running into the cleaners to make sure the areas I needed cleaning were actually cleaned. Once I arrived home, the cleaners were gone and I was shocked to see that not ONE area that I instructed was cleaned. Immediately, I called Spectacular House Cleaning & expressed that all spots were missed a for a full refund. The job was simply not done. I was put on hold and inevitably told no. Almost all businesses I have ever dealt with offer full refunds for customers that are completely dissatisfied. Not this company. Their greed knows no bounds. Spectacular House Cleaning handle on this: After my phone call where my request for a refund was denied (for a job that was not done) I began to receive, texts, emails, and calls ON THE DAILY for almost ONE YEAR. My stance on wanting a refund did not change, so I figured there was zero use in communicating with them as I had no new information to provide. Fast forward to Oct. 2019, I get a letter in the mail from them stating that if I do not pay, they will take me to SMALL CLAIMS COURT. I reiterated again that I felt it was wrong to have me pay $210 for a cleaning job which was not done. To give you some reference, a friend of mine hired a cleaning company which also did an absolutely horrendous job. The owner of that particular company offered my friend the solution of them coming again and doing a second cleaning job. My friend politely declined and the owner offered her a full refund. This is how business is done when a customer is fully dissatisfied. Once Miguel (who is either the owner or manager for this company) acknowledged my dissatisfaction he dropped the fee down to $180. In an attempt to put this to rest, I asked them to give me until Dec. 1, 2019 to pay and he agreed. At the end of Oct. 2019, I lost my day job and had to start living off savings while I search for a new job. Because I already felt that it was wrong for me to pay any sort of fee for a service I never received, coupled with the fact that I had to begin living off savings, sending them the $180 by Dec. 1st was just not feasible. After they did not receive the payment by Dec. 1st, 2019 the emails started rolling in again until finally, about a week ago, I received a subpoena at my door stating that they were taking me to small claims court because I did not pay their total of $180. To sue a customer for not paying for a job that was not completed is beyond immoral. Once I received the subpoena I immediately scrounged up what I could and emailed them yesterday (1.13. 20) stating that I was ready to pay the $180 (the amount listed on the subpoena paperwork) today, (1.14.20) as long as they dropped the lawsuit. I received an email from Miguel stating that they would only drop the lawsuit if I paid an additional $105 to cover the cost of the filing fee they paid when filing the suite. Making it a total of $285 for a cleaning job that I genuinely never received. I am shocked that there is a company that handles customer care in this way. I am shocked that this company refuses to take any responsibility for the cleaners they employ when a cleaning job is not done. Knowing this company, they will try to deny any wrong doing. I used Spectacular Housekeeping twice when I was moving out of my apartment. Both times, they were super quick to respond on Yelp when I messaged them and they were available for Saturday appointments which was really helpful for everyone who works a regular 9-5 job on weekdays. The appointment process was done over a couple message and really quick and efficient. They cleaned a 1 bedroom apartment with 1 bathroom (including the kitchen and living room) with 2 people in 2 hours. I got my full deposit back for that place and they did a superb job making sure that everything was spotless. The second time, they were cleaning 1 bedroom, 1 half-bath and 1 mini-kitchen (no fridge, just sink/counter area) and I originally booked my appointment for 1.5 hours, but it was clear that after the 1st hour they were pretty much done. I definitely got the impression that they were trying to stall a bit for time, like wiping my floors 3 times. I ended up getting charged for 1.25 hours though which wasn't too bad. Again, they did a very thorough job. They're priced at $90 an hour for 2 people which is a decent price for how thorough they are. Just be careful that your place can smell a bit like chemicals for a day after they've done the cleaning if you can't stand the smell, it might be better to get out for the day after they're done. read more

Amazing!! We needed to get our apartment cleaned after 3-ish years of renting and needless to say it was hardly in stellar shape. Our apartment is 2bd/1 bath (~750 sf), and a thorough job took three hours. The two team members who came were really courteous through the whole ordeal, and were able to turn the bath tub into a white surface again. They were more thorough than I could have asked for, and the oven has never looked this good! I also thought I might be late before the appointment and sent them an email, receiving a reply really quickly. Even though I wasn't late, it was good to know they have an excellent internal organization and means of communication. Bottom line: highly recommend! This was a fantastic cleaning service! Their staff is courteous, prompt, and does a VERY thorough job. I requested a cleaning of my kitchen and bathroom in my two-bedroom apartment. Specifically, I asked for a deep cleaning of the inside of my refrigerator and oven (which had not seen the likes of a paper towel or cleaning spray in 3 years -- yikes, I know) and they cleaned every single inch to a sparkle! I'm amazed that my kitchen looks even better than when I moved in. In addition they cleaned my bathroom and reached all of those hard to reach areas I never would have thought or attempted to clean on my own. My appointment was for 9 a.m. and by then the ladies were already parked outside just waiting to get started. I came back about 4 hours later and the apartment was beautiful. But, I got to say, they totally cleaned my 3 bedroom I have up for rent and made it spick and span. And I had them do my place too. I'm planning on using them regularly. They are awesome! I just had a similar experience with this company as M.H.- We agreed to an hour and a half of cleaning only the kitchen and bathroom beforehand, and when I arrived home after the time was up they weren't finished yet. I assumed that they had just started late or had taken a break in between tasks, but then at the end they handed me a bill of $180 for two hours of cleaning ($45 more than our original agreement). They definitely do a thorough job, but it seemed like they had assumed I would pay for the extra time without confirming with me first (the company had left a message on my phone asking for more time, but I didn't receive it until after they had left). I would even go so far as to say that it appeared as if they had planned to not finish in time just so they could charge more. Also, 2 hours (or $180) for 2 professional cleaners to clean one small kitchen and bathroom in a one-bedroom apartment seems like a bit much. read more

They were easy and convenient to schedule and to deal with at every stage. They did the main task of cleaning the living room and bathroom well. Both rooms looked thoroughly gone over: the window sills cleaned, blinds and bookshelves dusted, floors cleaned, everything you might like to sparkle in the bathroom sparkling, etc. I have no complaints about their work on their primary job. Three things could have gone better. Somehow tiny pieces of litter which had been on the floor in the living room wound up on the floor in the kitchen. To use the kitchen sink (not sure what for, but I don't doubt for good reason) they took an unwashed plate out; sitting the plate on the counter accidentally stuck it into the butter. The biggest thing is, while I appreciate they meant to lend a hand by taking out the kitchen recycling of their own initiative, since the blue can was too full for the lid to close after this, it blew all over the yard for me to find and clean up. Next time, I would look around the kitchen (or whatever) as well as the rooms I had assigned them before they left. But I would recommend and I would call again. read more
