I rarely leave negative reviews, but my experience at Spectrum Nail Salon was frustrating from beginning to end. When I arrived, I told the receptionist I wanted a gel pedicure. She directed me to the pedicure area, where the first nail technician asked what I wanted. I explained that one of my big toenails had broken and was shorter than the other, and that I wanted builder gel used to extend it to match the length of the other toe. She told me the salon did not have builder gel and that acrylic would have to be used instead. I explained that I haven't used acrylic in about six years because I've had issues with it in the past, but since she said builder gel wasn't available, I agreed to acrylic. She then told me she wasn't trained to do acrylic and would need to get another technician. After waiting several minutes, a second technician came over. I had to explain everything again because nothing had been communicated to her. When I explained that I needed one toenail repaired, she seemed unhappy about the request and said she also wasn't trained to do it. I then waited again for a third technician. Once again, I had to repeat the entire situation because there had been no communication between the staff. I explained that I only wanted a small amount of product on the one broken toenail. When she asked what I normally use, I told her builder gel. That's when she said, "We have builder gel--they just don't know how to use it." That was extremely frustrating because the first technician had specifically told me the salon didn't offer builder gel at all. When I pointed out the conflicting information, my concern was brushed aside instead of acknowledged. Things became even more frustrating when I clearly stated that I only wanted builder gel added to the one broken toenail because the other big toe already had builder gel. Despite that, she applied builder gel to both big toes. When I reminded her that I had only requested one toe, she responded that since one toe was getting fresh builder gel, I should do the other one too. That wasn't what I requested, and it made the other toenail thicker than I wanted. Instead of listening to my concern, I felt like she became irritated with me for correcting her. At that point, I no longer wanted the pedicure. I asked her to simply paint my toes instead. Before she started, I specifically asked how much it would cost. She told me it would be $15 for the polish plus $20 for the builder gel, so I expected to pay $35. When she handed me the receipt, the total was $50. When I questioned the charge, she changed the explanation and said the polish was actually $30 because I wasn't getting a pedicure. That was never explained beforehand. If I had been told the correct price from the beginning, I could have made an informed decision. Instead, I was quoted one amount and charged another. Before leaving, I explained the entire situation to the receptionist. Unfortunately, no effort was made to resolve the issue. She didn't offer to involve a manager, ask if there was anything they could do to make the experience right, or acknowledge the poor communication that had occurred throughout my visit. I paid the $50 and left without tipping because I didn't feel I had received the level of service or communication that warranted it. The biggest issue wasn't the builder gel--it was the lack of communication, inconsistent information from multiple technicians, not following my clearly stated requests, and the inaccurate pricing. I hope the salon improves communication among its staff and does a better job ensuring customers receive the services they actually request. read more

When I finally got seen for my eyebrow tint, the technician asked me to come back later. After returning, I still had to wait another 30+ minutes. This place is very inconsiderate of your time. The older woman at the front, who I assume is the owner, showed no concern when I explained that I had an appointment and limited time, her response was simply, "Oh, okay." I got charged 72$ for a fill-in after two nails broke off less than 10 days after getting them done, here. The technician initially attempted to PRY the broken thumb nail and it resulted in me yanking my hand back in pain. This prompted the technician to tell me 'to be strong'... Then he abandoned prying and used the electric filer. The worker also asked my 7 year old if they had a boyfriend. I quickly tried to redirect the inappropriate comment and just tried to sit through the rest of the service. My nails are different sizes and crooked. My thumb is still in pain... I didn't have the time or energy to sit for my nails to be re-done, and frankly wanted to just leave. I regret getting my nails done by that technician and genuinely hate how my nails look. read more

To start, Bella was extremely rude and unprofessional. Less than 24 hours after receiving a full set, one of my nails popped off. I returned to the salon for a repair and waited until she was available. I respectfully asked not to be charged, as the issue occurred within 24 hours of service. Instead of addressing me, she turned her back and walked away without acknowledging what I was saying. She later stated that there would be a charge because it was "not her fault" the nail broke. I explained again that a nail failing within 24 hours reflects poor quality; however, she refused to adjust the price and responded with an attitude, asking, "Do you want the nail fixed or not?" At that point, I walked to my car to calm down. From there, I called the salon and asked to speak with a manager or owner. A technician named Johnny answered, and after I explained the situation, he offered to repair the nail free of charge. I returned inside and was called to his table. Unfortunately, Johnny attempted to remove the acrylic by prying it off with an artificial nail instead of soaking it off properly. This caused my natural nail to break and begin bleeding. Although he initially acknowledged that my natural nail was broken and bleeding, both Johnny and Bella later attempted to place the blame on me, stating that it was my fault the nail broke. This was extremely unprofessional, especially considering the improper removal technique used. I went to the sink to wash the blood from my hand. At this point, I was very upset and requested that all of my nails be soaked off. He removed all except the broken nail due to the open wound, free of charge. Conclusion: This salon is overpriced for the level of service and nail quality provided. Sanitation practices, removal techniques, and customer service need immediate review. The space is bright and open and pleasant. We were greeted fairly quickly. We asked if they had time for pedis and as fast as he said yes, he basically pushed me in my back towards the pedi chairs. Third time is supposed to be the charm, correct? Not in this case with Spectrum. My last visit here (and it will be my last for a while) was last Tuesday. I was in need of a pedicure and quoted a wait time of 30 minutes when I arrived. Not bad I thought, considering I knew I could use that time to catch up my personal to-do list. 30 minutes came and went so I got up and asked that front desk girl how much longer since she was the one who provided that time frame. She said 'soon' and then stated that I could walk back to a bowl. Granted, this Tuesday evening seemed to be busier than what they were prepared for. There wasn't enough staff (I've seen more people on Thursday/Friday evenings) to cover the stream of people coming in. I go back to the chair and the girl barely fills up the bowl with water because she kept watching the line of people coming in. After a minute or two, she just stopped what she was doing and went back to the desk. Guess what? I then proceeded to wait even longer. An hour had passed at this point so I decided to chalk it all up to time lost and left. I've been here a couple of other times and things went incredibly smooth. In my opinion Jay, Cathy, Bunny and Henry do the best work. This place is usually busy but able to accommodate everyone. The polish color select is large. When you sit down to begin your services, an adult beverage is often to those 21 yo and older. I'm always have Chardonnay. The music select is always on point, very relaxing environment. Awesome!!! I arrived about 6:30pm not expecting to have enough time for both my hands and toes to get done. I ended up with a fill in and basic pedicure. I loved they had so many nail techs working that I did not have to wait. My nail tech was Jadie she was reallyy nice fast and gave quality work. Sometimes I notice some nail techs shy away from wanting to do long nails but she was just awesome. She kept my shape just how I like it and no lumpy acrylic. I will deff be back. I arrived right when they opened at 12pm and there were about 7 people in line, I quickly got in line and 4 people lined up right behind me. I figured it can't be that bad if all these people line up for their services right? The guy nail technician intentionally laid the gel polish on too thick, anyone with common sense would know not to use so much polish. I don't want to return to get my nails fixed but I am so that they can be held accountable. Poor management here as well, poor reception too, the young lady at the front gave me nothing but attitude. This place will continue to get business because of its location and capacity size. I would not recommend! This was my very first visit to Spectrum. I was not greeted at all when I arrived. The receptionist asked what I wanted and I explained a gel pedicure. The receptionist told me to go to a specific waiting area where I waited patiently for someone to arrive. A lady arrived and she immediately asked if I picked out a color I said no bit I would like orange gel polish. She laughed and said all off or polishes are in the front. I advised that this is my very first visit and I was not aware. No one provided me with a menu for pricing or anything. I tried to build rapport with the nail tech but that was short lived because she rushed through my service. When I entered the nail spa this is my self care day it's my time to relax and ease my mind. I didn't get that experience. My nails were cut to short and now crooked my nails were not fully polished and when I addressed this with the nail tech she immediately became annoyed and even yanked my foot. I asked to speak to the manager and she told me no she needs to finish her service first. I said I need to speak to someone now! The manager dismissed me took $10 off the service and walked away. She did not listen to my concerns or frustration. This was bigger than a discount. Also my nail tech did not follow the correct sterilization process she just rinsed off her tools with water and wrapped them back up for the next use. Nothing was taken out of plastic or any sterilization. Oh also the nail tech told me to never come back!
