They were nice which is why they got 2 stars instead of 1... but the quality of their services is not good. My gel pedi application was SLOPPY. Like there was no care. . They had to redo one of acrylics because they left my nail uneven which made the acrylic lay extremely thick, After i had already told them to drill my toes to be flat. And then when i showed the sloppiness, they tried to give an excuse as to why it was sloppy. Unacceptable. $65 wasted. The price was supposed to be $72 but to charge me $10 for French that was ugly and not clean .. i wasn't not having that. So the price went down to $63 but you get charged extra if you're using a card. I ran across to dynasty nails to fix the mess they made. They immediately saw what tip top did and were able to fix. Don't waste your money on a pedicure. I couldn't even take a picture of my toes, because as soon as I walked out of tip toe, i was walking right into dynasty. I'm upset because i just wanted to treat myself from working so much, i deserved better effort on my toes. Don't let them be sloppy and get away with it! They only do what you allow! Tucked away in a forgotten corner of a forgotten shopping center off Central is this gem. After several bad experiences at a nail salon across the street I decided to take a chance. I'm very pleased with the level of quality that they put into the nails. I do find that I'm there longer than other places, but it's because they're not in a rush. No bells and whistles, just the basics. And I like it. All I suggest is perhaps updating the wax area...you know what I mean if you ever go there. Lol. I went in on a Monday for a fill and a basic pedicure and when I tell you the service was 300/10. I fell asleep during my service bc it was so relaxing!! The place is small so I recommend going when it it's not peak hrs or making an appointment. Everyone was incredibly friendly and talented. I also got cat eye gel done and it looks amazing. It is a little pricey though. Including tip, a basic pedi and acrylic fill ran me about $122 so - do with that information as you please lol. I'll definitely be back bc the results and service were amazing- just not if I'm paying for it lol bc I can't even imagine what a full set with any design plus anything that isn't a basic pedi would cost. 6 starts for the service and quality but 2 stars for the prices for me (but lowkey worth bc they took their time and really took care of my nails). I was super excited to visit Tip Top. Their nail art looked amazing and had mostly positive reviews but Im afraid my first appointment will be my last. They made my nails look pretty but didn't take my old acrylics off properly at all. Just ripped them off even when it hurt instead of soaking in acetone (which is what should be done). Really damaging and my nails are in so much pain but I can't do anything about it. The new acrylics also feel loose and fragile. I'm super upset because the people there were nice and it's a family business but they should know that it's not proper to remove acrylic that way. UPDATE: It is exactly two weeks later and every single one of my nails has fallen off. The first one fell off not even a week after I got them done :( UPDATE 2: My mom removed her toenail polish from her pedicure to find FUNGUS growing underneath it! So gross!!! read more

Came in July 11 for a SNS dip manicure with tips and no design. Ended up waiting almost 45 minutes for the tech to finish removing my previous set, granted I was a walk in. I also had asked for coffin shaped nails and was initially told no because of the length I asked for, despite having this length done many times before. She also ended up running the buffer over my finger so much that I bled, despite saying it hurt. I did not want to be rude so I paid and left, but after a literal day this was what I ended up with. Ended up paying $75 for a basic SNS dip + shape and no design, and it was not great quality. Only 4 days in and nails are chipped, cuticles torn up, and a mess with polish all over skin. read more

I went here on a spur of the moment thing. I was originally at another salon down the street but due to their terrible service I decided to give this salon a try. It's not anywhere fancy, but the service makes up for what it lacks in modern decor. Richard did my nails and the shaping was perfect. His wife was very nice and friendly. You could tell that returning customers felt very comfortable. UPDATED REVIEW- Although I love the service here, and they are quick and efficient, I am very disappointed in the work I had done last night. I didn't ask for them to fix it because I didn't want to take up any more time since my daughter was with me and it was the end of the night. I was in the neighborhood for a meeting and had a couple hours to kill beforehand so I decided to get my nails done at TipTop. I checked Yelp beforehand and originally intended on going to TipTOE but, I got confused/forgot, and ended up at Tiptop. This is a very unassuming little nail salon located right off of Central, a stone's throw from Krazy Fish. When I walked in, I was hit with the VERY strong aroma of nail chemicals. I couldn't even tell you the last time I was in a nail salon where this smell was so prevalent. The smell was so strong that one woman who walked in after me chose to wait outside until they were ready for her. I came in for a standard manicure. I was seated right away and a woman worked on my nails. There was nothing of note during the procedure except when it came to the application of nail polish. It was applied so uneven that it dried with cracks in it. I'm not sure if the nail polish was old or if something was off with the nail polish formula for it to end up that way but I was very disappointed. The total for the standard manicure was $12 - so not much was lost but I will say that I will pay more for a better experience elsewhere. read more

I hate to do this but I had to take away a star. I made an appointment today to receive a pedicure and gel polish on my nails. There were too many issues out of the norm: Pedicure 1. Water was cold 2. I was rough handled 3. Polish applied too thick 4. Her hair got stuck in my polish (repolish) Gel polish 1. My nails were filed crooked 2. Polish was placed hastily causing dripping 3. Again hair in my polish (different bottle) I felt comfortable expressing my concerns by to the length of time I have patronized here. I end up only paying for just the pedicure, which was a very nice gesture, but if I have to come back in a few days due to a shotty gel application, it's not worth it. I went in for an acrylic fill and gel polish change (which most places around here you have to have an appointment because most nail salons only have one tech that does them) this was not the case here! I walked in sat right down and was out within 30/45min! Normally I leave other places with a few places on my fingers soar or nicked because it is so hard for me to relax to allow them to move my fingers as needed. AGAIN not the case here. I've went around to 5-6 different nail salons in charlotte paying 25-30 for a gel manicure. honestly no one really impressed me and my nails always cracked and chipped really quickly. i came back to this place because they did a great job the first time i came in. my nail tech just told me to come back to him because other salons had really been messing up my nails and destroying my cuticles lol. They are great! my gel manicures always last 2-2.5 weeks with minimal chipping, cuticles always look good unlike many places that tear mine up. deff give this place a try. read more

Ok I'm gonna start off by saying I don't often treat myself to things like this so... having said that... THIS WAS THE BEST PEDICURE EVERRRR!!! I cannot remember then gentleman's name who took such great care of me, unfortunately, but I'm definitely going back! I went in early Saturday evening to get a full set and pedicure done for my birthday weekend. I was shocked upon entering to see that there was no customers in there nor did any customers come in the whole time I was there. And I honestly think that's part of what made this the best pedicure ever. I hate going when a salon is busy and feel like they rush to get to th next customer quickly. Since there was no one there I felt he really was able to take his time and really focus on me. The water was nice and hot, the chair and tub part was clean, they even had a smart phone holder on the arm rest so you don't worry about dropping your phone (which I've never seen at a salon so that was pretty impressive to me) The massage chair was great even though I realized halfway through my pedicure that I hadn't even turned it on, silly me. I work on my feet 10 hours a day so my calluses can be pretty bad and the gentleman did so well getting them off without hurting it even tickled quite a bit. I Saul on the wall they have this cool glow-in-the-dark gel coating for your nails, and they answered all my questions about them and even showed me the examples under the UV light to really see what they look like. I got the one that was black white and gray paint speckles and then once it's in the dark it's Carolina panther blue. I freaking love them! I like that they had old soft rock playing, at first when I hear Michael Bolton I was rolling my eyes but then when I got into the Celine, Mariah and Whitney I was jamming. The gentleman doing my nails was even singing along to his favorite songs so that was nice too. Anyways if you've made it this far you get the point it was freaking awesome I definitely recommend you going there I would try to go there when they are not busy so you can get the amazing service without feeling rushed. I have been to this nail salon once and once was enough. While the salon owner was kind enough, and making an appointment was easy, the experience was less than pleasing. At the time I had gel polish on (mani and pedi) they did not soak off polish, but instead used an electric file- to file the gel off, hence damaging my nails. There was an altercation between customers while I was getting my mani, it was uncomfortable to say the least. read more
