I've been using speed for almost 10 years now. The last week I've called between 35-60 minutes ahead of time so that I can get picked up at work. I purposely called an hour early and the car still had me waiting 20 minutes outside my job in the cold. When I asked why the driver told me it was 1:50 and he was on the way to me when they dispatched him again, and it wound up being a 30 minute trip. Furthermore this is unacceptable. I spend money in this establishment and tip every single driver. I even recommended this place to multiple people. I could easily use Uber which would be to me in 5 minutes. They offer you candy, water. Etc, but since I support a small business I get shitted on. Today is the last day I ride with speed, until they either organize , or at least put their regulars first. read more

i always used their cars, drivers because they were reliable, ok cars to get you where you need to go, ok prices. I used this car service for almost more than 10 years. When the dispatcher accused and his drover didnt even have change on him from driving all day. I ended my services never will bother them again they lost a vert loyal customer. read more

I'm a big fan of supporting small business and overlooked the fact that their cars were outdated and falling apart ( at the time ) I be used them 2 times recently and would NEVER EVER advise anyone to call them !! After YEARS of daily trips with them, the owner George decided he was in a mood yesterday & said I can't have a car in the morning anymore. He yells at customers & is a very nasty person. His cars are dilapidated & dirty and more than half the drivers have no TLC. They double up customers going to Brooklyn & make both pay the toll. If I could give zero stars to speed, I would. After the poor experience I had yesterday and the day before , I will no longer be using speed. As a background, I used to live in the great kills area and used speed as my car service of choice. They were great. Their service lived up to their name and pickups of other people did not deter me from getting to my appointment on time, if not early. I'm a reasonable person and understand traffic makes life unpredictable and give drivers the benefit of the doubt, so I wouldn't complain for the sake of needlessly complaining. Despite the drivers being mostly professional and friendly, I can not possibly accept that traffic is the cause for them arriving an hour later than the 15 minute estimate of a wait I was given. To add insult to injury, the dispatchers lie, have a bad attitude, and falsely claim that the car was cancelled when it obviously wasn't. If my finger was to misdial them during a call, I would recognize it and promptly end it. Please don't bs a bs artist. My driver told me that he was assigned to pickup people at two additional locations prior to picking me up so please don't play it off as traffic being bad. The location he was allegedly at is in proximity to my house, so it doesn't take 45 minutes to arrive at my destination from there. 10 minutes tops. And that's factoring in traffic at that time. (6pm). I was picked up 10 minutes prior to my appointment time (for a time sensitive appointment at that) and was informed to notify the dispatcher in the future that I need to be at a time sensitive appointment and that time is of the essence, but it doesn't matter. They will do what they will do. Because of the indifference and poor business practices on the dispatchers parts, I will no longer be using their car service. read more

I have used this car service numerous times and this is the last time! First of all they cannot be honest with how long a car will take. They say 15 minutes and this more like an hour. Every time you call back for an update they say a few more minutes which is a total lie. Today I called for a car from a grocery store and was picked up. The driver had another pick up to make even though I had numerous people with me and told the dispatcher. The driver told the dispatcher that he would have to come back for the next pickup because the trunk was full and the dispatcher proceeded to raise the price of my ride because apparently I had too many groceries! I called and the dispatcher immediately started yelling at me. This is completely ridiculous. It is no fault of the driver's, he was very nice and I tipped him accordingly. Called at 10:28AM. Short ride. 85 degrees and very humid. Was told 10 minutes. 25 minutes later, placed follow-up call at 10:53. Was told 5 more minutes. 17 minutes later, after no car arrived and 42 minutes after original call....I walked home. Don't jerk people around. Give a realistic wait. Sorry for the driver. Not that any particular car service in Staten Island is great, but these guys hold the record for consistently being late. Late in good weather, bad weather, any sort of condition you can think of. To make matters worse, rather than being honest about when they are going to show, they string you along telling you they will be there in 10 or 15 like 3 times. I have even tried calling way ahead to schedule a pickup, nope. Not only did they get there late, they picked someone up after they got my wife and then dropped them off before her waiting around in a deli for 10 minutes for the pick up. WORST experience of my life. I had called for the car service at 3:13 as i had to be at work for 4:00. Which i had explained to the dispatcher i had to be at work at 4:00 and he told me that it would be no problem! ( My job is 5 minutes away from my house) I was not picked up until 3:53 and my driver made 2 stops to pick up other people that were OUT of the way, literally on the other side of the island. He then dropped the other riders off BEFORE me when i was in the car first! I did not reach my destination until 4:30. Not to mention my driver was TEXTING while driving and trying to use his gps which led to sitting at green lights and also caused him to stop short twice, almost causing 2 car accidents. I have never experienced such atrocious customer service. I ordered a cab to my house and the guy who answered wasn't polite but he wasn't overly rude either so I decided to overlook that. He said my cab would arrive at my house within a half hour, but it didn't arrive until almost an hour later although I live 2 minutes away from where they are located. When the can finally arrived, he didn't even pull all the way up to my house when he saw me and when I got in there was another woman already in there, which I was not informed about. Instead of going straight to my destination, I had to wait for the driver to first drop off the other woman, which set me back another 10-15 minutes. Aside from all of this, the driver was horrible and almost hit two pedestrians on our way! I can't stress enough that no one should take this cab service. They charged me just about what any other cab service would, but their service was not worth the money. Not only was I scared for my life, I was also pretty annoyed because of how slow they are. They should change their name from Speed Cab Service to Slug Cab Service. read more

I called asking if they had any cars available, I was surprised that dispatcher said yes. 20 minutes tops. After calling 45 minutes later to check in, dispatcher said "a couple more minutes" I'm purposely refraining my son from walking to his friends house because it's after midnight and I was trying to get cab but now he wants to walk as it appears this cab is never coming. I make him wait. I call back one hour and 20 minutes later someone picks up phone and hangs it up. Now I'm pissed. I call back after another 20 min, dispatcher says 5 six minutes. I ask are you sure? I would have cancelled otherwise. If you're busy you should just say no cars available. Is it really just five minutes? She says yes, hangs up. 20 more minutes later my son finally starts walking. 15 minutes later someone calls my phone, I hear laughing and her saying "I'll pour this fucking wine on you..." more laughing. I'm yelling into phone, hellloo?? She comes on, oh yes you called car service? You can come out. (I'm outside when she says this there is NO CAR WAITING) I say I called almost 3 hours ago! I didn't want my son walking and you said 20 minutes. She doesn't even let me finish. She says "you walked fine good night" hangs up. I call back, they ignore my call. I've never dealt with such an unprofessional business in my life. My son warned me since the last time Uber was busy we tried them and he literally had to pull out his phone and google maps cause driver got lost. This is why UBER and Lyft are putting you out of business. Because you're not only terrible at the one job you're supposed to provide but complete assholes as well. First off yes this car service is not so accurate with their timing but most of the time they are on point. I'm understanding when the dispatcher asks the driver where are you from the mall and the driver tells him ten minutes and then he tells the customer 10 minutes. THINGS HAPPEN PEOPLE. THERE IS SOMETHING CALLED VARIABLE CHANGE. Sometimes the driver has to make a quick stop, there is traffic, an accident, etc. stop blaming the dispatchers because those poor souls spend countless hours inside a box not seeing sunlight or their families ! They eventually come but it's never taken more then 10 minutes. The dispatchers don't have eyes in the streets, they are giving the estimate times that the drivers give them. The prices are phenomenal compared to the other cab services. $70 to the city ? Freaking uber charges sometimes over $200 to get there. Drivers have always been nice and kind but they also are not responsible for previous customers making a mess or leaving behind trash. The dispatcher also one time apologized to me for having a nasty tone when I notified him one time. He apologized and said it gets very busy and stressful with the phone ringing so many times per minute, poor probably can't run and grab food or use the bathroom. I've been using this car service for a short period off time but love them and am understanding of the possible situations that can occur. keep up the good work guys and I love you! read more

Have been using speed for years. Tonight was a terrible experience. Waited over an hour for a car. Was told by dispatch the first time I called 15, 20 minutes. Ok no problem. Waited the first thirty minutes called back I get told oh he's on the way to you. Call back 15 minutes after that, get told oh driver picked up wrong call. Bullshit we were outside the entire time! I've called and they either have someone else in the car or tell me they have to pick someone else up. When you call to see where the car is, they keep telling you another 10 mins. I recently took Speed to the airport and it was a DISASTER. When I got in the car when it arrived, it wouldn't start. Speed's solution? Send another driver to jump it! It took 20 minutes for the car to get here, but the dispatch station is less than 5 minutes away. To top it all off, the car had no air conditioning on a hot July day. The car smelled funky, had no AC, and was unreliable. NEVER AGAIN. read more

If I could give no stars I would. After a wedding, my boyfriend called the car service and was told that it would be a half hour wait. A half hour later, the car never came. We called back, and the dispatcher was rude and told us it be there soon. The car never came. I decided to try calling back and hoped that he would be kinder to me. He told me it would take 20 minutes. At this point, we were desperate to get home to Brooklyn and had no other way. 25 minutes later, still no car. When I called back and asked how much longer, he told me 15 more minutes. When I told him that he had originally told me 20 minutes, he called me a liar and hung up on me. We finally found someone who was able to get us an uber car, which arrived in SIX minutes. 15 minutes after I arrived home, the car service called asking where we were. That would be an hour and 15 minutes after we originally called for a cab. Do NOT ever use this car service. And they wonder why uber is taking over the car service industry?! read more
