Does not say that customer is responsible for sales tax!
    Richard L.

NICKEL-and-diming while overpriced. Goodbye and good riddance. Terrible "new" gas station, Speedway. Wish we had the Mobil station back, which we filled up at all the time (before Irvine Co. decided to go with Speedway instead). After the recent grand opening, they only had Premium/91 octane gas available at their bloated pricing. Guess my car that uses 87 octane isn't good enough (no 89 octane available either). Wasted first trip. More importantly, the customer service experience was garbage. Speedway sent out two rounds of promotional mailers to nearby residents, offering free drinks/snacks/etc. We went back a second time, purchased a full tank of regular gas once available, and used the promo coupons for a hot dog and slushie. Younger female cashier was less than friendly, but got the job done. Then, we go to the gas station again for a third time, and tried to redeem a 69-cent fountain drink promo coupon. The older balding male manager stepped in (brushing aside the cashier, from last time), and demanded 5--cents before even punching the drink into the register or scanning the coupon. When asked what for, he rudely and shortly replied, "for sales tax." Ultimately, as I didn't have cash with me, he let me go, like he was doing me a huge favor. I guess I should have just left the soda at the counter. Called the Speedway's number, and heard the same voice answer with no greeting, maybe a "hello." No introduction or hint that I had called a legitimate business. I asked if this was the Speedway at Parkview Center, and that's when I found out it was the manager who gave me the terrible experience. I shared my feedback about the experience and he continued to cut me off and continuously repeat that I was wrong in that everyone must pay sales tax. That was not stated on the coupon's fine print. See the photo as a sample. It simply offered a free fountain drink. I did not purchase anything, so why would I pay sales tax? I gave him examples of how other companies did giveaway/free items, and he just kept railroading me. I explained that he was ruining the entire purpose of the promotion by literally NICKEL-and-diming me to the point that he lost all of me, my family, and my neighbors' business. The manager simply responded, "that's fine... you must pay sales tax." NICKEL-and-diming while overpriced. Goodbye and good riddance.

Perfect for a quick bite or drink! We got the egg, potato and cheese burrito. It hit the spot! It was crispy and had perfect portions. I'm glad they didn't have meat in it too. I also got a matcha with oat milk and some protein. I can tell they don't add sugar to their matcha which I appreciate. We'll be coming back here for breakfast. Since we were at a workshop, we didn't have much time in between sessions but they were quick with our order. The decor in the shop is festive with fall which adds such a nice touch. This coffee cafe is located inside a Marriott Hotel next to the lobby, but is open to the public…read more Free parking is available in designated spots just past the "valet parking" sign. There are 3 indoor tables, 3 outdoor tables, and a long counter where customers can stand. I ordered one of their special signature drinks, an iced mint cold brew. A look into their pastry case led me to also request a raspberry danish. The single person behind the counter who was taking orders and working as barista was not exactly charming but it was understandable as she was slammed with multiple customers right when I arrived. My order was presented within a couple minutes (she was great at multitasking!) and I sat out on the patio. The iced mint cold brew was refreshing and was like drinking a box of Campfire Girl mints, both chocolatey and minty (sidebar: I am so sad that, as of last year, those mints are no longer made). It essentially was a mocha made with coconut milk and mint syrup; I really liked it. The pastry was rather dry but the raspberry filling was vibrant in flavor and not overly sweet. The vibe is more of a place for hotel guests to have a business meeting or to grab something prior to dashing off to a corporate event rather than just a place to hang out. But it's also a great option if you are near the Irvine Spectrum and just want to stop to quickly get a coffee drink and sit for a short break.

The breakfast burrito was decent BUT the potatoes inside were a bit undercooked Since we came on a Sunday it was a little busy. When ordering they have a card stating approximate waiting times depending on how busy they are, but it well exceeded the time on the card. The breakfast burrito was surprisingly good for a coffee shop. It seemed freshly made with fresh salsa. I was impressed by the flavor and quality. The coffee was good and I got it quickly. One occasion is a pass, we get it; everyone has those days. But this reoccurrence of at least 3 encounters is unacceptable. Why was my drink in the back, already made, and I watched the staff make it and go on their break...? Just trying to be realistic here. Kiosks and online orders allow for efficient and fast service without the need for interaction. But there seems to be some issue with either the online system and orders, orders and staff, or a combination of all. Other coffee and drink places are able to efficiently do this, just wondering why there are always difficulties and rude attitudes/behaviors when customers have to ask the staff where their already-made drinks are.

Very spacious outdoor seating so if you want a remote work area, this is nice! I got a honey lavender latte from Verve which is in front of the restaurant I guess. It's a kiosk which I don't like bc I wanted my dressing on the side. No way to note that so I got the Chef's attn. So I ended up getting the spring panzanella salad which was good. No lettuce just red cabbage and other veggies. I was able to get my dressing on the side. I also opted for the charred octopus and I was pleasantly surprised. The octopus and sauce were great! The white beans were not cooked. It was very hard and I just spitted it out. So I picked those out. Overall, worth a try. Looks like they do change the menu up for the folks that work here. SYOY!

What was most frustrating was that I stood waiting for my mobile order for over 10 minutes without a single employee acknowledging me or providing any update on my order. After waiting, I finally had to speak up and ask whether my drink was ready. Instead of responding professionally, Christine immediately seemed irritated and gave me an attitude. When the gentleman eventually finished my drink, Christine carelessly tossed it onto the counter without saying a word, rolled her eyes, and walked away. After looking at my drink there was no written note on my cup. My mobile order was supposed to be ready at 5:42 a.m., but I did not receive it until 5:52 a.m. The entire reason I placed a mobile order was to avoid waiting in the drive-thru. During the time I stood there waiting, the drive-thru line was completely cleared out and multiple customers were served before my drink was even made. What makes this experience even more disappointing is that my order was simply a tea. There was nothing complicated about it, yet I was ignored, treated disrespectfully, and forced to wait significantly longer than promised. The lack of customer service, professionalism, and basic courtesy from the staff was unacceptable.
