BUYER BEWARE. Our HVAC stopped working, and I called Speedy Nelson. Carrie came and said the compressor was broken and that there was no way it could be repaired without either several thousand dollars for a new compressor or (her recommendation) an entirely new unit for a cost of $9000-$9800. I then called another technician who was able to repair the unit in 5 minutes. I am not sure if Speedy Nelson is lacking the appropriate HVAC knowledge /experience or if she was just hoping to sell in a new unit, but I am thanking my lucky stars that I got a second opinion. Wow! Speedy came to my house yesterday to fix my AC and they were fantastic! Professional and thorough, they explained the issue to me and made sure nothing else was wrong with the unit. Tl;dr: Great communication, quick diagnostics and service, helpful follow up. Now that it's warm outside, we keep the air on and noticed that our house was never cooling off and in fact was just warming up as the day gets warmer. We called in the morning and they told us they could make it by midday the same day which was very helpful. They gave us a window of 1-3pm and were there at 1:05pm. They got to work immediately and diagnosed the issue, gave options and then went about their work. They were in and out within an hour and a half. Later in the day I got a text from Carrie who was checking in. We noted that the issue didnt fully resolve, and then told us that they will be out first thing in the morning. I was told around 9am, but I got a text at 7:45 asking if it was okay if they came earlier which was definitely OK because we had plans later in the day. Carrie came, checked everything once again, and then did due diligence and found something else that they could manage, which seemed like fixed the issue. They continuously texted and checked in which I appreciate, most places just service your place and move onto the next and expect you to make another appointment a few weeks out. There's never a good time to lose your AC in a NC summer, but the worst time is on a Saturday night during a heat wave! After spending a miserable night trying to fix the AC on my own, I called Speedy Nelson on Sunday morning at 8am. I was expecting to get a recorded message or maybe a call center where I could leave a message and hope to get a callback in 24 hrs. But my call was answered by Carrie -- a real person and expert HVAC tech! Carrie said she'd be at my house by 1pm that day. Once here, she quickly diagnosed the problem, informed me of the cost, and then went to Raleigh to pick up the part. Fantastic service, outstanding customer care, and--most important--impressive honesty! Carrie could have told me the whole unit needed to be replaced or that it would take a week to get the part -- I would have been none the wiser. I am very happy with my AC replacement experience with Speedy Nelson! They replaced my 20+(or 30+? I don't know) year old AC, much faster than I had expected in the middle of the summer and COVID induced supply shortage. I am very impressed with their work ethics and pretty happy with their workmanship - especially the air handler installation. When I expressed that the water pump was too loud they came and fixed right away. I didn't spend any time asking quotes around, but when I compare notes with my friends it seemed that their price is very competitive. Overall, I highly recommend their service. I can't believe the incredible service we received, really really amazing. I called around 5:30 expecting a voicemail box that was full of a visit at $200 just to come to my house in a week. What I got was a real live person on the phone who said she'd be there in an hour - $65 for the visit and they fixed the issue in 30 minutes for a total of $180. Wonderful service!! I called mid-morning about a broken AC. Carrie picked up right away, and said they'd be able to come out that same day at 4:30. And guess what? They arrived at 4:30 on the dot (after texting to let me know they were on their way). This has been by and far the worst experience I have had with dealing with anyone and they rank scored almost 200% in unprofessionalism . They were referred to us by one friend who had done some work with themand they showed up right on time. Told me that they charge $50 upfront for showing up. I was like "ok" but had a broken water heater and being the first timer , did not think much. Next day they started off and out came two people and one of them was a lady who did all the talking. I already knew by this time the tank needs to be replaced and when I asked them it needs replacement how much they could charge .. they said $1900 which was absurd. I had by that time had checked and saw that the replacement water heater was around $1000 at the max and they were charging around $900 for their service which was ridiculously expensive. By then the first thing they ensured was to get the $50 dollars for their so called "expert" advise and then quoting that charge sped off. In the end I called up and reasoned with them that the charge was very high and let's see if you can get the right price for the work . But the lady was like "this is what we charge and if you don't want to work ... Buzz off". After pocketing $50 I guess they were happy with 5 min of work and we're not even bothered with the work. In the end I was thinking to myself that it was good riddance and did not want to work with them. Never been a yelper before, but the attitude rubbed me off badly and I don't review , but I had to do it for someone else so that they do not fall into their trap again. Guys , business is a trust. Good communications. Reasonable price. Quick availability. My mini-split stopped working. Speedy Nelson came out right away and determined that the system was low on freon which they put in. That didn't fix the problem so I called them the next day and they arrived later that day. They put in more freon and fiddled with the unit and got it to work so I am a happy camper. Called Speedy Nelson as I found their ad on Craigslist - $45 dollar for service call/diagnostic. The technician found that the compressor wasn't getting enough power from the main controller board. Because of this, the technician determined that the main controller board should be replaced. I ordered/replaced the main controller board and sub controller board as recommended; however, this did not resolve the issue. I've placed numerous calls and text messages to the technician but received no calls/text messages back. It's okay that your recommendations didn't resolve the issue - I'm fine with that, but now I'm pissed that no return calls/text were made. If you would have returned my call/text I would have gladly paid another $45 for a return trip (money left on the table in my opinion). Terrible service - doesn't stand by their work. They said they replaced our entire unit - 5k later - the problem was still happening. They blocked our number when we asked them to look at it again. Called another tech who told us they not only over-charged us by a lot but DID NOT replace everything and the wiring was done completely wrong - hack job! Nasty to tenants in the building, rude to us. Don't use them! They are NOT a company like they claim it's one girl and her dad but the girl does the so called "worked" and not the right way. If I could have given no star I would have read more
