Taco had flavor but was very small and not too messy. Flavor gets enhanced with the sauces, recommend using them. Service was fast and efficient. Ambiance was nice and calm and not too busy. Will come back for more

Haha love this place but I guess the cooks were not having it on Father's Day because I got a "funny" shaped fish fried taco. Lmao.

While planning for my day trip to ventura, I had come to find out the Mackenzie's had opened a 2nd location near the Camarillo premium outlets. Having been to the og one, I had to give this one a try. As a LA native, I come to appreciate the small things like the santa barbara/ventura vibes I was once a part of. I had ordered 3 tacos this time: world famous fish taco Calamari taco Shrimp taco While the seafood themselves were fresh and I could taste it with each bite, the part I felt miss the mark was how bare the shredded cabbage was that came with the taco. It does come with the wedge of lemon and mackenzie's collection of hot sauces. Don't get me wrong, I love the simplicity of a fish taco for it's freshness, but to accentuate it more with the bell peppers and cabbage you need a light dressing of sorts, maybe a vinagrette or something creamy like coleslaw sauce. The workers were professional while also having a chill and welcoming college town atmosphere. Parking was easy as it's located in the same plaza as a supermarket so there's plenty of parking.

It was my First time here, I was craving fish and chips. I ended up ordering the clam chowder. Not everyone can cook really good chowder. The clam chowder was bland, but I tried the trout and chips that was actually very tasty. The flavors complimented each other. I washed it down with the Arnold Palmer Tea. The service was ok, the young man that took our order gave me the vibe that he didn't want to take our order, as if we were wasting his time. Maybe he was having a bad day, I get it we're all known to have those kind of days at work. The ambiance I loved. The restaurant was very clean, the vibe was a modern beach vibe. This establishment used to be the old Chuey's and walking in it looks so different. My experience over all, it was good, I think I'll be returning to try other items on the menu.

We Came today for an early Mother's Day lunch And we were not disappointed!!! Enjoyed a complementary shrimp wonton which was a nice treat. and single serve Chardonnay wine. Tempura fish tacos, and chicken Street tacos! And everything was delicious!!! Tyler our server was on point start to finish and made for a very nice afternoon outside on the patio. Thank you Spencer's as always, a favorite spot in Camarillo...

The food here is fantastic! The prices are very fair, I love the fish tacos, their homemade hot sauces, and don't forget an order of the tempura vegetables! They were my absolute favorite! Service is wonderful, they are so friendly and upbeat here. Prices are very fair, considering the quality of the items this is ideal for families as well! They have kids meals and plenty of seating inside and out, as well as easy parking. They have a great happy hour and daily specials as well. Highly recommended for affordable and flavorful meal in the area!

    Sad fish tacos..

I've been on the hunt for a solid fish taco since I've move up from San Diego. Came here during happy hour when it was dead, glad I did because I would definitely not pay full price. Supposedly known for their fish tacos but they weren't good at all. Too much batter on the fish and it wasn't hot when it got to the table, mind you- I waited long despite the lack of customers. The fish taco was bland and the three sauces on the table were okay, but not what I look for in a sauce for a fish taco. Maybe the rest of the menu is better. I can appreciate that Spencer appreciates Asian and Mexican fusion on a seafood menu.

I really enjoy their Ventura location and didn't even realize they had another spot in Camarillo until recently. The main difference is the outdoor beach vibe in Ventura, which makes for a fantastic atmosphere--bright, breezy, and relaxed. It was a nice surprise to find a different setting, but just as enjoyable. Came with a few friends, and since we weren't quite sure what to order, we went with a smorgasbord--Zucchini Tempura, Parmesan-crusted tacos (one shredded chicken, one ground beef), a grilled fish taco, and fish and chips! We all shared the fish and chips and zucchini, while I had the grilled fish taco--goodness, it was one of the best fish tacos I've ever had! I forgot how delicious it was. Our server was quick and friendly, making the experience even better. The inside ambiance had that chill beach vibe, perfect for relaxing. They also offer a ton of great happy hour specials, which makes it even more appealing. I can see this place getting pretty busy during the evening hours, especially on weekends with some lively partying.

I got a couple things to go. There are places outside and multiple tables indoors. The food was tasty. The girl at the register(didn't ask her name) was very pleasant. She gave multiple options for vegetarian food. I got the veggie street tacos and wontons without shrimp. Both travelled well and were good. The order was fast and the sauces were plentiful. Good spot. You should give it a try. It was my first time and I'm happy I did.

Fish and shrimp burrito with too much cabbage 7-23-24

I have only been to the Ventura location once and this was my first time to the Camarillo one. I have to say this location's fish and shrimp burrito did not impress me like the Ventura one and it felt like a step down in quality. I felt like there was way too much cabbage and all the fish was down at the bottom of one end. No joke, I felt like I was eating a salad with how much there was in it. I did try the ceviche and it was really good. It had a lot of bell peppers and it was really fresh tasting. The chips were also tasty, crispy and thick which I appreciated. We ate on the patio and there were several flies that were bothering us and it's because there is a lot of spilled food sitting on the patio floor. So if I came back, I would eat in. Our waitress was friendly and attentive.

I shared this delight with my husband and we both enjoyed it. We tried a couple of the giant pastries that were on trays in a baking rack. You use a provided pair of tongs or plastic bag to pull your choice of pastry from the various trays. We tried two different croissant style confections and both were a hit. Though I have to say these were huge and we brought them home to eat them over a couple of days The fiilings are not overly sweet and have unique tastes like mango or pineapple. The crust is not flaky like a croissant nor is it dense like a cake but something in between with the creamy filling. There are picnic type tables outside on a narrow patio that you may have to clean off yourself if the previous patrons haven't tidied up after themselves. Inside, there's a wonderful, immaculately clean dining area with classic Mexican barrel chairs and tables. The floor is covered in dark tiles and it is very spacious. This is an order at the counter shop with the register and small bodega in the front as you walk in from the street. You place your order from a menu posted above and behind the register. That order is sent to the kitchen and your food is called out when it's ready. The market continues in the space behind the register, where you'll find all kinds of offerings from south of the border. The kitchen and deli is housed back there and I cannot stress how clean everything is. I would come back here again and again.

The service was fast and friendly and prices were reasonable for a street taco (in this economy). There is a table and some stools next to the truck, but I typically take it to go. I was happy to see that they had many of the staple meats here like asada, pastor, pollo, chorizo, carnitas, and cabeza, and was even more surprised that they had birria and tripas! However, I wish they had lengua which is my absolute favorite! We ordered the asada, pastor, carnitas, and birria street tacos and they were all so delicious. The meats were perfectly cooked and seasoned so well. We also ordered the shrimp and asada taco and WOW that one was amazing. The flavors of this taco melded so well together and there was even an avocado slice! I love a good verde sauce and Don Taco's is up there. I've been on a quest and I'm so happy I found a great spot to fulfill my taco needs. Some of my favorite taco spots are in LA and Don Taco is definitely comparable. I'm coming back to try their burritos and Asada fries! *Hot tip: service is fast, but sometimes there's a line so you can call in your order for pick up!

The decor is a blast from the past and looks like it did inside when I first stated coming here, so they haven't done much to the place but to me that gives this spot that old school charm. I personally love the old time decor and owls all around the restaurant. I find their booths to be cozy and comfortable. The menu is also pretty large with all of the classic dishes. The staff have always been nice when I've come in. They are attentive, friendly and the food is whipped up quickly. Happy hour menu seems to bring in the crowds but I do think there are other places with a happy hour menu that gives you more bang for your buck than here. The food is average in many ways but very comforting. Probably I'd rate all of the different dishes I've tried between 3.5-4 stars depending what you get. I really love their albondigas soup and that's one of my favs. Never steers me wrong. Also their crunchy shell tacos aren't bad. I came for a beef taco with rice and beans and was pleasantly surprised. This isn't Michelin star food people - just classic no frills Mexican food that seems to have kept them operating all this time, impressive if you ask me. My last pro tip is the margaritas are stellar. Huge fan of their mango marg and I'd come back for this alone. Just at $15 that's a little hefty for a hole in the wall spot like this. Same with the food. Two margs and two simple smaller main plates ran us $70 after tax and tip.
