The seafood was fresh and flavorful, but I personally felt the portions were on the smaller side for the price. While the quality was good, I left still feeling hungry and wasn't convinced the value matched the cost. If you're deciding between nearby seafood restaurants, I still prefer Andria's Seafood Restaurant & Market at Ventura Harbor because I feel the portions are more satisfying for the money. One small area that could be improved is the availability of condiments and napkins, which seemed to be rationed more than expected. Overall, if you're looking for fresh seafood with a scenic harbor view, Surfside Seafood is worth trying. Just be prepared for higher prices and lighter portions. I haven't been to Hueneme beach in such a long time so when I arrived with my family I thought it was nice that they had a restaurant and wanted to try it out . We ordered the halibut fish and chips (so expensive for just two pieces of fish not even flavored just plain and scattered French fries). When we sat down my husband's chair immediately broke almost causing him to fall. When order was ready I went up to get it , walked to my table and sat down , not even a minute into eating the lady(manager or owner) came over and grabbed something from my plate saying this isn't yours I responded saying what isn't mine she said the spoon and knife I put it on the wrong plate . I responded with a weird look like did you seriously walk all the way over here to take a PLASTIC spoon and knife off of my plate instead of just giving the other customer a new one? My family and I have been coming to this beach for many years. I don't usually choose to get food here because of the prices, but this time I decided to give it another try. I ordered the fish and shrimp plate -- $29 for two pieces of fish and four pieces of shrimp. The fish itself was soft and flaky, and the batter wasn't overly thick and had a nice crisp. That said, it didn't really win me over. I feel like they could try a little harder with the flavor of the batter, even just a little more seasoning would help. The prices overall are pretty steep. $5 for a Dr Pepper feels ridiculous, and $15 for a grilled cheese is a lot. One thing that did stand out was the shrimp cocktail. It was $19 but came with a lot of shrimp, and the flavor was actually really good. I would probably come back for that specifically. What also feels a little odd is being asked to leave a tip when you still clear your own plates and table. I'm not against tipping, but it's hard to justify leaving a big tip in that kind of setup. The weather was so nice the day we visited, this is what I love about Southern California! They are located at Port Hueneme on the beach. Good parking and very little wait when I visited. Once you walk in, order at the counter, they will let you know when your food is ready. They have seating inside and outside. They have a good variety of fresh food and other items as well. I had the halibut and fries. I received a good portion, food was yummy and fresh. Customer service was professional, I will definitely return. It's "extremely overpriced " for a plate of basic fish & chips and for not having any table service. No condiments at tables. Also have to pay for parking. Signs for Parking kiosk aren't visible when you drive in so u don't know to pay till the parking police puts a ticket on the windshield. It's a$58.00 fine. Not happy with any of it. My husband and I ate here after spending the afternoon at the beach on a Sunday around 5pm. It was packed and there was a live band playing out on the patio. People were vibing hard with the band and up dancing. We didn't have to wait very long at all to place our order at the counter. The employees working the counter were so nice. There are a lot of choices on their menu and everything sounded so good. It was really hard to choose. After we ordered we were given one of those vibrating beepers to alert us when our food was ready. I ordered the Clam Chowder Bread Bowl, my husband ordered the Halibut Tacos and we shared the 6pcs Oysters w/ Ponzu. The clam chowder bread bowl was so big and exactly what I was expecting / wanting. I tried my husband's Halibut Tacos, the taco was really good with huge chunks of halibut. The oysters were great! The oysters were gigantic. I will gladly eat here again or order food to go. The location on the pier at beautiful Hueneme Beach is amazing and we always bring our guests to eat here. The service is friendly. The food is excellent, and we think the fish and chips are the best of any in the area. The music is always wonderful! Wednesdays and Sundays during the warmer months make the place rock. We think there should be a budget menu for people visiting the beach served at the window. Adding a kids' menu would also be wise. Just moved in to this area and wanted to check out this restaurant on the beachfront. We ordered Seared Tuna and popcorn shrimp with fries from the extensive seafood menu board which included burgers, hotdogs and Dole pineapple soft serve ice cream. Joanna and I looked for a place to eat supper after a cruise to the Channel Islands and Apple Maps displayed Surfside Seafood. I'm glad we ate there. It is a basic restaurant next to the beach. I ate the ahi tuna dinner with roasted vegetables, rice and garlic toast. The roasted onions, bell peppers and zucchini tasted so good! And the tuna was delicious! Joanna ate the halibut dinner and she liked her food. The owner's family was visiting and it was good to see her family enjoying the food and visiting. Don't let the nostalgic Cali beach vibes fool you, the prices are a tad on the high end but you will get fresh seafood that is cooked and seasoned well with a great view. I normally get the fried halibut and fries but recently got the fish tacos. They are now my favorite: crispy beer batter lightly seasoned. The outside area has beautiful views of the sand, the wharf and the beach. Glass around the outside area shields the tables from the wind. However, there is also an inside area for those prefering to sit inside. We ordered halibut fish & chips and the beef ramon soup along with one iced tea and one water. The bill? It was just under $45. Obviously, you're paying for the view and the location. And, there are no refills on the iced tea. It's $3.45 for one glass. Obviously, if we'd known that, we would have asked for little ice but the drink was filled with ice. The halibut fish & chips were good and the fries were fresh and hot. The beef ramon soup was okay. We have a tradition to always stop here when in Port Hueneme. I love the view and food. The service is always pretty nice. The restaurant provides outside seating that bring a great ambiance and make you feel like you are on a famous beach. Surfside Seafood is the perfect little ocean front shack for some fried seafood goodies or for a bowl of clam chowder. This is a very casual low frills kind of place. You order at the counter and then grab a seat. Outdoor seating highly recommend so you can get a nice little view. I wouldn't say the seating is comfortable as it's just giant slabs that you sit on but they have umbrellas up for shade and again the ocean breeze and vibes make it a nice spot to eat a casual meal. The service is always friendly here. No issues at all, everyone is nice and you don't really get waited on so it's pretty simple as the only contact you have with anyone is just upon ordering at the counter. I've had both the fish and chips here as well as the shrimp and chips. While both are good (and similar) I'd say I've had better fish and chips elsewhere but it's hard to find a good shrimp and chip. The batter on the shrimp was perfection and most importantly the shrimps were big and of good quality. Also the tartar sauce is always important to me when rating a spot, and there's is really good here. Perfect to pair with the shrimp. We took a family trip to the beach on a nice sunny day and our kids were hungry, I wanted sea food, so we decided to give it a try. I don't know if the person who was taking our order was new, but he asked us to confirm our order more than 3 times and kept deleting things from the screen, which no biggie, I let that slide. So after spending over $135, I was thrown off by confirming the 6 meals I purchased and did not get the drinks. My husband got back in line to order the drinks, not once did we get a thank you, nor instructions to be seated and they would bring our food etc..After my kids ate they went back to play on the sand, a worker different then the person who rang us up, immediately came out to clean and asked if he could begin cleaning, I said yes my kids were sitting there but they are finished. He said "tell your kids not to bring sand." I chuckled kind of thrown off guard and said ok, mind you the entire floor has sand on it as it is located on the beach, but my kids were not in and out they finished their food and left back to play.
