Came here on a weekday during lunch as their sign had caught my eye since it was new. This seems to be a family owned business and the staff was nice and friendly. The place itself is clean and spacious. I do love that they have a tiny wooden table for kids to sit. We ordered take out in which the food came out promptly (15 mins). How this works is you pick your base: dry or soup ($8.99) and then add anything additional for more money. The base does come with some noodles, lotus roots, seaweed knots and some veggies. For my order, I had the base soup with fatty lamb and we also got the spicy base with fatty lamb, enoki mushrooms and tofu skin. My husband enjoyed the spicy one as it was full of flavor. My base one was good but a bit bland. I'm not sure if due to being take out, the portions were not as big as I thought they would be BUT it does fill you up. I'm also not sure what the difference is between the VIP pricing vs regular as we were charged regular. Overall, it really adds up as you're picking additional toppings. Next time, we'll probably give it a try in person to see if portions are comparable.

The non-Asian bartender took our orders and seemed very helpful at first, but then completely disappeared, leaving us to fetch our own silverware and water at our own volition. He also informed us that, yes, indeed, they have the Sichuan peppercorns like so many other restaurants, yet like so many other places, they failed to give them to us. There was, however, an aromatic presence given off by what appeared to be black cumin flakes in our cumin lamb. Had they put actual Chinese peppercorns in the dish, it might have balanced out the heavy cumin, which I tasted in my mouth hours after the meal. Ginger and a ton of garlic, both of which I associate with this cuisine, also would have been nice. I imagine the owner, once hyper declarative as to the authenticity of his restaurant, has a brand these days: a decent Sichuan sports bar catering the food for an American palette.....even their 3 Cups chicken is 'bone off'. I can not say I saw many Asian people dining here; perhaps they know better and just head on over to EMei in Chinatown. We also had the string beans with ground pork; they had the proper blistered look from being dry-fried, though the dish ended up a bit greasy and lacked the distinctive punch of preserved mustard greens and robust aromatics. All in all, we enjoyed the food, but the bartender abandoning us while helping himself to a twenty percent tip, combined with the lack of authenticity, is not enough to impress.

I come here for happy hour every now and then because the prices are really great, and both the food and drinks are delicious. We started with the specialty cocktail and the Thai Punch, and both were really good. They had fruity undertones, and the alcohol wasn't overpowering at all -- I could easily have a few of these. For food, we got a few orders of the kung pao chicken wings. They were perfectly crispy with a really flavorful glaze. The portion size was also very generous, especially for the happy hour price. These are a great example of Asian-style fried chicken wings done right. I definitely want to come back and try their full dinner menu since I've only been here for happy hour so far. Luckily, it's not too far from where I live in the city, so I'll definitely be back!

Place is super trendy with an open concept kitchen and dark lighting. I might be getting old because I find myself wanting more lighting lol Service is spectacular and if it's your first time here they'll fully explain their menu and recommendations. This time our server explained the tasting course, but we decided to order a la carte. A refreshing Ming Mule came out first and it was just what I needed after being inside of a stadium on a 100 degree day. We also ordered an order of the pork bao which was so tasty. You can never go wrong with a pork belly appetizer and each order comes with two. The shrimp pad Thai had all the flavors you expect from a classic pad Thai but with their own twist. The Szechuan chicken was crispy and had sweet notes. Definitely two great picks. Opted out from dessert because we were so stuffed but they have a great ice cream cone option if you are in the mood.
