On the flipside, because those dishes up there were so good, I actually thought the cold sesame noodles were just alright. They use a thinner more delicate noodle here that makes it much more sauce forward, but I feel I'm partial to thicker chewier noodles with spicy food. I want to stress that the noodles were tasty, but again, out of an excellent tasting menu we built for ourselves, it was the plain Jane of the bunch. Beyond that, they have some tasty baizhou (spelling?) that'll get you wasted while enjoying the food. Highly recommend you go with a large group. If you go with less than four people you will have food envy from all the tables who are sharing amazing dishes that your stomach just doesn't have room for.

There was, however, an aromatic presence given off by what appeared to be black cumin flakes in our cumin lamb. Had they put actual Chinese peppercorns in the dish, it might have balanced out the heavy cumin, which I tasted in my mouth hours after the meal. Ginger and a ton of garlic, both of which I associate with this cuisine, also would have been nice. I imagine the owner, once hyper declarative as to the authenticity of his restaurant, has a brand these days: a decent Sichuan sports bar catering the food for an American palette.....even their 3 Cups chicken is 'bone off'. I can not say I saw many Asian people dining here; perhaps they know better and just head on over to EMei in Chinatown.
