Went here for the lunch buffet, which I've had before. Food was pretty good as usual! Unlike some other Indian buffet places, the naan is brought out to you by a waiter instead of being with the other foods. The goat curry is delicious - meat falls off the bone and isn't gamey at all. The saag was also good, and I enjoyed the paneer curry. The butter chicken is quite dry/overcooked though. The potato and peas dish is very heavily flavored with ginger, so if you don't like that, definitely stay away. Gulab jamun was very sweet and soft, but the kheer (rice pudding) was bland in comparison. The most shocking to me though was the price - they must have recently upped it to $12 for weekdays, which is typical of other buffets in the area, but most previous reviews seemed to agree that it was around $10. read more

I've tried their $9.99 lunch buffet and the food choices were not as many as other Indian lunch buffet places in Germantown. There were three vegetarian hot dishes, one salad, one lamb dish, one white rice, one rice with chicken, one butter chicken and one tandoori chicken. Unfortunately only one dissert - rice pudding was there and the wife owner told me they were making another dissert in the kitchen which I did not get to see during my dining. Food: 3 stars, average taste. However I particularly like their naan and tandoori chicken. The naan is more flavorful and crisp than what other Indian buffets offer. Tandoori chicken were made medium spicy which was another difference from other places. Service: 5 stars. The wife owner was attentive as I was the only diner the whole time. She was very personable and asked about how did I learn their restaurant and my honest opinion about their food. We also chatted about politics and the other businesses in the plaza too. This agreeable conversation made this experience more personal. Lastly the lady told me they are going to roll out a combo platter at the price of $5.99 which includes four pieces of tandoori chicken, white rice and your choice of vegetable dish. read more

I started with them with a catering order. Despite the rain, they were on time with the food. Yes, I was worried a little! Therefore, I was very happy to see the owner with the food right on time, but I was happier when my guests liked the food and started asking me about the caterer. Since then, I have stopped by many times to eat there. Excellent food! If you're familiar with authentic Bangladeshi and/or East Indian food, you must visit them. What I like the most is the owners' sense of customer service. Peter and Maria, the husband and wife team has nailed it when it comes to customer service. Only reason I had to take a star away is because they seemed understaffed. There should be someone designated for the outside area. But, I love trying new places and this Spice Grill is really close to my house. Ordered the "Happy Dinner for Two" for takeout. It came out to ~$37. I always want to try everything at a restaurant and this is a great introduction to what they have: Happy Dinner for Two: Appetizer Platter & Soup of the Day, Tandoori chicken, Chicken Tikka, Tandoori Shrimp, Noorani Kabab, Lamb Curry, Naan, Mixed Vegetable, Dal, Pulao Rice, Mango Chutney, Cucumber Raita and Rice Pudding. -The Soup of the Day was good. I don't know exactly what it was but tasted like a chicken stock with curry base with lentils. -The appetizer platter was okay. It was battered and fried vegetables, so it doesn't translate well for takeout, I'm sure it would have been fantastic if we ate there. -It's not listed, but there was also a salad with Raspberry Vinaigrette. That was just okay. Salad was run of the mill, Vinaigrette tasted very fresh. -The Tandoori Chicken was phenomenal! Absolutely amazing. It was so fresh and fragrant. -The Chicken Tikka and Noorani Kabab were very good. -Tandoori Shrimp was also amazing. -I love Lamb Curry . This one was good. I wished it was spicier, but the lamb was super tender and the curry itself tasted great otherwise. -He showed me the Naan before packing it up and it looked amazing coming out of the oven. It's just the right consistency and was fantastic. -Mixed Vegetable curry was really well done. Right amount of spiciness. -Dal was good. -Pulao Rice was great!!! Fantastic spice on it. Horrible customer service by a lady there. I walked in and waited at the counter for 3-5 minutes while she was doing paperwork at a table, and a man walked and she immediately took his order and went back to her paperwork I had to say "HELLO" for the second time before she finally came and took my order. She told me 10-15 mins ok fine. I run to the dollar general and come back and she tells me "everything is ready we're only waiting on the garlic naan". Fine. During this time other people are waiting for their orders getting them and people who ordered over the phone are picking up orders and it's just me left. We're now coming up on 40 mins and I asked her how long is it going to be because I have to go. She says we're waiting on rice so now it's going to be another 10 mins. Went for the lunch buffet and the food was really good! Service was also very good and they kept drinks full and removed dirty plates quickly. Cost was $9.99 so very reasonable. They are located near the Dutch market so parking lot was very busy but almost nobody inside the restaurant on a Thursday afternoon. The food tasted very good and fresh....was expecting a little more spicy but great flavor. Selection was limited but I'd rather have a few things done right than lots of things that taste bad. Spice Garden is owned by the former owner's of the India Garden restaurant in Rockville. The new location is smaller but the food is still excellent and the owners continue to treat all of their customers like old friends. The menu items are a blend of Indian, Pakistani and Bangladeshi, reflecting the owner's backgrounds and some of their favorite home cooking.
