I love the concept behind Spice Village, multiple menus are great however it's always a hit or miss. I've been here a handful times and sometimes the service is great and you get your food on time and the correct things you order. But sometimes you have to wait an hour for your food and it's the wrong items. I've ordered the same dish a few times, sometimes for takeout, and tastes different each time. Oh, Spice Village, where do I even begin. Oh I got it, Well I ordered a medium filet mignon and the first time they brought it back overcooked on the outside and very well done on the inside, which I sent back. 15 minutes later another steak came to me, I was quite excited. It was charred on the outside which I didn't mind too much. I poked it with my fork and it had good give to it, which I think is a good sign. At this point I'm a happy happy man and once I cut it through the middle, I laid my eyes on what looked like almost a live cow. It was raw in the middle... sigh, my happiness turned to tears. Almost all my friends didn't get the degree of cooked steak they wanted. I went with my family and was amazed by there Butt Karahi. We ordered chicken Karahi and Mutton Karahi both were delicious. Then we order one regular tea and other mutka tea as my daughter found it very strong so we asked them for hot milk and that made the tea perfect. Definitely would go again and recommend. This spot definitely is my top 10 restaurant to visit. My friends and I drove from Baltimore to come try out their food. We tried their Steakhouse, Halal Chinese and Peri Peri Chicken. I was truly let down by my past four experiences at Spice Village- since the first time; it's just gotten worse each time. Even after my last experience where we had an hour-long wait for our food and terrible unorganized service, I thought I would give it the benefit of the doubt and yet another chance. The last time around, the manager made up some excuse about the number of people like he did the previous two times about other things. This time we went on a Monday when there were only two other families there. To my surprise, the food and service were both awful. The menus were given to us on stapled papers, and the wait for our party of three was around 45 minutes. Even then, we were okay with waiting until the food arrived. My ribeye steak came out dry, cold, and hard - it seemed like they cooked it hours before and served it up. The peri-peri chicken came out even worse - we ordered half of chicken (hot), and they served us two small leg-sized pieces totally dry and with no flavor whatsoever. When we asked for sauce (without complaining about the chicken), the waiter gave us an attitude and wouldn't hand it to us at the table. Even with only two others tables being served at the restaurant, the staff rushed off were unorganized, and rude to say the least. I rarely take the time to write bad reviews, but after the four or so times I've been to Spice Village with increasingly worsening food and service and constant excuses from the manager - it deserves this review. read more

Too bad I cannot give zero star. Worst experience I have ever had. My kids are visiting from California. They are old. One is married and other is a senior. We went to Luray Cavern. Then took the scenic route of beautiful Skyline drive on the way back. Checked for any halal restaurants that were open late. Found Spice Village. Website said they are open till 10. I called to reconfirm. The guy on the phone said the kitchen closes at 9:30 pm so be here before that. We reached the restaurant at 9:10 pm. The restaurant was more than 50% full. The guy behind the counter said sorry we can't serve you inside. Because we close at 9:30. You can order takeout. I said that your website says 10 and I called to reconfirm. The guy said check Google. That has the correct timing. Knowing that most halal restaurants are already closed I stood my ground. I wasn't yelling or screaming. I was just being persistent. The guy said if you sit inside then we will have to sweep and clean around you. I said fine. We were finally seated. I didn't realize that by that time my younger son and my daughter in law got very anxious and upset. At that point I decided to leave. Poor kids ended up eating sandwiches from Wawa. I typically rate restaurants on their overall experience. This was my first experience and it warrants me breaking this down into three categories. 1) Food 2) Service 3) Management. Food | We came here with a large group. We ordered pretty much anything and everything you can imagine from the four options (Chinese, Pakistani, American, Portuguese). For the most part the food was great. No complaints. One steak was a bit overcooked. The food gets 4 out of 5. Service | The service was extremely poor and slow. Let me be clear, the wait staff was super nice and hard working. They did whatever they could to help but the issues were with the kitchen and the management behind the service. Our waiter was super nice and helpful. We felt bad for him at times. We ordered at 6:30 PM. The food didn't show up until about 7:30 PM. My food didnt show up until 7:50 PM. When it did show up, the order was messed up. My kid had ordered hamburger with no cheese. The waiter showed up with a chicken sandwich smothered with cheese. I kindly told the waiter that's not what we ordered. He remembered the order and apologize. He went back to the kitchen but then returned shortly with the same order and looked a bit intimidated. He said "My manager said we have already made this and you should take this." I was appalled. I said, "That's not what we ordered and my kid doesn't eat cheese." He tried to convince me again I should accept the order so the kitchen doesn't have to redo the order again. After waiting over an hour this was really frustrating. When he sensed my frustration he went back. It took another 30 minutes before my child received his food and by this time, everyone was already done. Management | After two hours, we finally finished dinner. I asked for a check. Because we were a large group we had divided the checks by each family which we told them up front. No issues there. When they gave us the check I noticed that the tip was already added to each check. I was a bit irritated just because of all the issues up until this point but didn't say anything because our server was nice and he was working very hard. What really broke the camels back is when he came back to me and said my manager said, he is missing "$40" worth of items and can you check your ticket to make sure its accurate and we didn't miss anything. Now we all started looking at our checks to make sure we are not missing anything. Checks were accurate but the manager seemed frustrated because he couldn't account for $40 worth of food. This entire situation was awkward. I will give them another try because the food was good but I hope the management learns from this feedback and acts more professional. read more

I had really high hopes for Spice Village, given all the 5 star reviews. My family and I were sorely disappointed. The concept is nice - one restaurant with 4 types of cuisine, the seating is very comfy, and it's a cute place. But they're very disorganized and the food was a let down. When two of the four of us arrived, we were seated quickly and given menus. A server came and asked us if we were ready to order, and we said we were still waiting for the rest of our party. Then, as soon as the other two arrived, the server came back and asked us if we were ready to order... before they'd even been giving menus? Anyways, once we got our menus and placed our orders, the server helping us was pretty friendly. We ordered one Manchurian chicken with fried rice, one orange chicken with white rice, one peri-peri chicken - mild w/ a side of corn, and one lemon herb chicken, with a Coke zero and a lemonade. They came and gave us complimentary corn soup, which was nice! They did not remember to bring the drinks until we reminded them - twice - and all our food came out at different times. First was the peri-peri chicken - and they forgot the side of corn on the cob. It wasn't mild, it was kind of spicy for something that was supposed to be mild, but not bad. We didn't get the corn until close to the end of the meal when we were able to snag a waiter and ask, and then they brought us a bowl of corn off the cob that literally looked like canned corn. Next came the Manchurian chicken with fried rice... which was not Manchurian chicken at all. It didn't taste at all like Manchurian and the texture was completely off. It was very meh. The fried rice was really not good either, it had no vegetables, a tiny bit of egg, and absolutely no flavor. Literally tasted like plain rice with some egg in it. Then came the orange chicken with white rice, which was decent, nothing special. Lastly the chicken pita came, which was actually pretty good. But, it was still not anything that really stood out to us, nor did it make up for the rest of the meal. While the tables in the center of the aisle were spaced far enough apart from each other, the tables on the edges of the restaurant were absolutely not 6 feet apart and I even heard the manager asking a family who came in to "try to sit close to the far end of the table" so as to keep a distance from the table right next to it - which had to be only 3 feet apart. Their whole staff was just super disorganized and it was overall such a disappointing meal. We won't be coming back. read more

I had to the opportunity to finally dine in at this restaurant yesterday 9/4. Previously I had gotten take out from here and the food was nice. The atmosphere of this restaurant is very nice and elegant, it's well designed. The designer of this restaurant is very talented. The restaurant was very clean. It nice to see a restaurant elevating the halal cuisine game, the dmv area needs this. I went with a large party (adults and kids), we were accommodated immediately since we had called ahead and it was an off-peak time. From the moment we walked in, throughout our dinner, and to the time we left we were treated very well by the nice staff. All of the staff including the server and busers, were stellar and well trained. This restaurant contains four types of cuisines and we ordered most of them. The food quality and presentation was really good, we all enjoyed our meals. We also ordered some speciality drinks such as the coconut pineapple colada, mint lemonade, and the mango shake. All of these drinks tasted great. I especially liked the special touch of serving the mint lemonade (non alcoholic of course, this is an all halal restaurant so rest assured) in a moscow mule metal cup, nice touch it elevated my experience with that small touch. As someone who only eats Zabihah Halal and is a self pro claimed foodie, it is refreshing to experience a nice restaurant like this. We recently went to Spice Village to eat lunch and everything there was awesome. We ordered two things: Pepper chicken and Lahori Chole Chicken. The pepper chicken tasted great and the presentation was awesome!!! The Lahore Chole Chicken was good, but not amazing. The ambience of the restaurant was great and the seating was comfortable. The service was great and there was a little button the wall where you could call for service. This was convenient when we had to pay the bill and order the food. Hi All, I went today afternoon for buffet ( mistake!!), they had very few vegeterian dishes and taste was not good. We were told the Naan will come but never came until we finished desserts While I was paying I was told it is same price for both veg and non-veg food ( understandable because it is one buffet) but the price was $29.99 PER PERSON!!!...this is too much compare to the choices that were in the buffet and the taste. Normally it would be $15 to $20 per person in an Indian restaurant for buffet. The fact is THEY DO NOT ADVERTISE THE PRICE ANYWHERE in the restaurant. My friends and I found out about this place and we decided to try it out. I got the crispy chicken sandwich with fries and my friends both got the roasted chicken with fries. I really enjoyed the chicken sandwich. The condiments were a lot different, I never expected to have a savory ketchup paired with creamy sauce for my fries it was absolutely delicious. The restaurant was beautiful and busy. That being said I do doc some stars because I did notice the manager, I'm assuming, completely disparage the hostess that was working at the registers. I could tell that he was trying to intimidate her and make her feel like she wasn't doing a good job. I get it, it gets really busy on the weekends and things become overwhelming but there is no reason to be talking to your staff as if they're constantly doing something wrong. it's 2021 and the manager needs to realize that we can't talk to our servers/employees like there unintelligent. Please do better and if you need your employees to do something for you ask them in a polite manner instead of degrading them in front of customers. If I could give no stars I would. I paid $40 dollars for the chicken makhni Karahi, but my dinner had NO MEAT.... Literally all bones. When I called the restaurant to complain, the owner, Saad picked up the phone and only offered a 20% refund when I asked for a refund or a new entree. Tried this place earlier this week and the food was absolutely delish. My boyfriend and I had to come back to try more items on the menu. I ate from the Peri-Peri menu and order the chicken pita, spice level, sweet and tangy. My boyfriend got the ribeye steak and it was cooked to his likely. Props to the presentation. The servers and owner were super friendly and welcoming! They remembered us and welcomed us back, I definitely appreciate the hospitality! The server even remember an item on the menu I had wanted to try but wasn't available on my first visit and I was not disappointed in getting to try the pina colada. They currently don't have Mandarin and Shinwari open, however I look forward to their openings and trying out those two menus. In regards to safety, all workers have masks on and give you your space. We saw the sign on the door "Spice Village" not too impressive and we didn't know an explosion of delicious was waiting on the inside. One of the only restaurants brave enough to open during COVID spice village is nothing if not ambitious. It crams four complete menus and concepts-Steak, Shinwari (Afghan), Chinese and Peri Peri Chicken. When we visited only steak and Peri Peri were open. The meal began with complimentary corn soup (a nice surprise) and proceeded to some decent--but not spectacular--food prepared pretty well and served with a fair degree of courtesy. The restaurant is Halal and has a variety of price points ranging from the fast casual peri-peri chicken and burgers (that menu is a branch of the Peri-Peri Express chain) to a $57 Tomahawk Ribeye. The food is all halal and, as such, no alcohol is served. With all the concepts open, it's a place where most anyone could find something pleasing. But it's also a little incongruous...fast food+steaks plus plus plus. Still, worth a look. read more

It was nothing just bland chunks of chicken (not at all spiced) with lettuce tomato , onion and mayo. Paneer wrap was horrible, I have never in my life eaten that bad paneer wrap . Peri peri chicken was bad. We ordered thigh piece we received breast piece with no taste at all. Shrimp taco were ok. Peri fries were regular fries with no peri peri seasoning.
