Everything I've had here I have enjoyed! Love how everything in this food court is halal! Peri Peri's honey garlic chicken sandwich is def my fave and their Peri fries. Also their Kit Kat milk shake was phenomenal and I'm not normally a milkshake person! https://www.instagram.com/reel/CkIzRogDMBo/ (note: shot at their Fairfax location!) Kallisto steakhouse has probably the beet steak I've ever had and it's halal! https://www.instagram.com/reel/CpVEt2xD4nq/ (note: shot at their upcoming new Alexandria location opening March 11) Love the robot cat!

I came here for a birthday dinner. This elegant spot is perfect for any date night, celebration, or everyday dinning. With four restaurants and a robust menu there's options for everyone! The plating of the food was beautiful and creative. I really love the decor here as well. What to know: There's 4 restaurants in one spot. This means the menu prices vary from everyday affordable fare options ($) to special occasion high quality steaks ($$). The restaurant does not offer alcoholic beverages, but the drinks are amazing!!! They make a variety of mock-tails. If you have cake you can bring it in and they will store it for you until the group is ready to eat it. Overall, they do a great job of social distancing. The owner was such a nice guy who continuously checked on the group to make sure our needs were met! Everyone enjoyed their food. I would recommend this spot!

As you can see I don't care about price but I do care if you are charging this much then you have to deliver that much ! Lack of Staff, service and management , mean waiting long for your turn and lack of staff training mean customer satisfaction zero ! Bottom line they don't have enough people for customers! 1 star for food and 1 for presentation They don't the difference between medium well rare Because I ask medium well and get 75% rare and send back and got black hard burn lol Untrained staff in kitchen Most likely students I guess ( that's why 18% service taken by owners) My observation is all 4 cuisines makes by same people in kitchen! Sunday afternoon all families and teenagers that's why too loud ! This restaurant was great in opening days!

Spice Village is a food hall which has four restaurants and their takes on halal. The restaurants are Peri peri Orignal, Mandarin Halal Cuisine, Kallisto Steakhouse and Khyber Shinwari. Apps: We got coconut shrimp and spicy rice for our table. The coconut shrimp was definitely my favorite appetizer. Food: I decided to order from the Kallisto Steakhouse restaurant. I ordered the grilled lamb chops platter which was well seasoned, and one choice of side. For the side, I god the potato wedges which was really delicious. There's also an option for signature sauces. I chose the signature house sauce and white mushroom sauce, very tasty. Drinks: I ordered the mango smoothie and was wowed. It was so good, I actually wanted to order another one. Overall, My family and I had a good experience here. The service was amazing. We had different servers come up to us to make sure we're doing good. I took away a star because our food got cold quickly. The cast iron pan for the meat did not help at all. Besides that, everything was good. Hopefully the food will be a lot warmer when I return again.

I tried really hard to like this place - I truly love the concept of having multiple Halal restaurants under one roof and I appreicate ordering is one all at once so it allows your group of people to try multiple dishes. However, the actual dishes lacked quality and flavor. We ordered mainly from the steakhouse. We ordered a steak + chicken platter and wings. The steak was poorly cooked and even though we asked for medium it taste well done and I couldn't really eat it. The chicken was also tough and the veggies were soggy. The wings were ok - but it didn't taste fresh. Service was friendly and I am hopeful the other places were better however I am not a fan of the steakhouse.

We recently visited here to try some halal chicken Peri peri and other asian dishes and we were very satisfied with all the options. The meals were all delicious and delivered quickly. The place is very clean and the decor is also romantic and nice. It would be great to one day see this place without Covid restrictions and fully booked. The menu has many different options and I can almost guarantee everyone will find something here. I am looking forward to the fourth concept kitchen open soon. We will be visiting again soon.

Very clean! That was my first impression. Open space with good decor. Second, we ordered steaks. Good, halal steaks. Rib eye and T bone. Reasonably priced and flavored well! Enjoy the pics! Follow me on Insta @dmv_halaloholic for more! Note - given the investments made in food and decor, ownership should consider training programs to improve customer service. Without it, you'll only make it so far.

We love trying out new places that are South Asian. We found this place through Yelp (of course) near my son's school. This place is unique that it offers 4 different restaurants in one. 4 different types of cuisines, which was pretty interesting. Everything we had was really good, flavorful and cooked to perfection. We would definitely recommend this.

The vibes and aesthetic needs work for sure but the food was pretty good! We ordered from Peri Peri and it was yummy. I ordered Cajun fries with my Mango pepper sandwich but honestly that sandwich was heavy and I could've done without the fries. Next time I want to try the other restaurants! Prices were right and reasonable but aesthetic needs help because I feel like this place is poppin and would be even more popular if they just did an upgrade.

With the excitement of food halls popping up everywhere, we decided to check out Spice Village. We were a bit confused at first but it felt more like an actual sit-down restaurant with four vendors that seemed to utilize the same kitchen. You can either order food at the cash register when you enter, call in your order, or order online. Ordering online seemed a little confusing because all of the menus were essentially combined into one long running list, with a lot of details excluded. But maybe it was just me? We wanted to try several dishes but unfortunately they were out of some ingredients so we ended up ordering the Peri Peri chicken tender/wing combo and some onion rings to try out instead. It might've been because we went during a busy dinner time. We ordered mild for the flavor and let me tell you, the flavor was fantastic. We are big fans of a peri peri chicken franchise that shall not be named, so it was great to see that this place can rival the huge chains. Onion rings were solid, crispy, and fresh. Overall we enjoyed our food and would check it out again.

Husband and I went to try it out for the first time. We got the honey butter chicken sandwich (?) and the ribeye steak. Sandwich: so good! 10/10 Steak: chewy.. 7/10 Mushroom sauce: 10/10 House sauce: 6/10 Veggies: 6/10 Mashed potatoes: 6.5/10 We are deff. Coming back once the other two restaurant opens up!

The portions are incredibly generous, and every dish we tried was delicious. The drunken noodles were packed with flavor, the fried rice was perfectly cooked, the Tso's chicken was excellent, and the steamed fish was fresh and beautifully prepared. The highlight of the meal was the spectacular tableside Flambé dessert--it was both delicious and a fun experience. The service was exceptional. Our waitress was incredibly sweet, attentive, and made sure we were well taken care of throughout the meal. The owners were also warm and welcoming, adding to the wonderful dining experience. And don't skip the beer--it was fantastic! Great food, generous portions, outstanding hospitality, and excellent value. We'll definitely be back.

But what we did get was pretty darn good (if a bit pricey)! The style is much more authentic, so if you're looking for something like Hunan Cafe (Greenbriar), or that NOVA institution China King, this is different. Is it better? For the most part, yes. (But I still crave that Americanized sweet, spicy, glazey brown sauce that comes in slight variations in so many dishes). I had the hot and sour soup, Szechuan spicy fried eggplant sticks, Taiwanese rice noodles with fried tofu, and the Chengdu twice cooked pork. Everything was excellent, except....the hot and sour soup. Honestly, Hunan Cafe and China King beat the pants off this place's hot and sour soup. Here, it was a bit too sweet. It had some red chilies in it, but I could not detect much white pepper. And it's a vegetarian version, so no small bits of chicken or pork. I'd skip this the next time I order from here. But the other dishes... amazing! The noodles were light-tasting but still delicious. The eggplant was garnished with cilantro, garlic, salt, and red chili sauce. The twice cooked pork was sauteed with sliced leeks and the same red chili sauce. I think that's the fresh, zingy, spice flavor profile I like that can't be found at Americanized Chinese restaurants. Sure, China King has its place and I'll still go back there when I'm close (RIP China King Fair Lakes and Herndon). And admittedly, I go to that awful Panda chain occasionally because I never learn. The unfortunate thing is, I'll more likely go to these places than Cheng's because of the price. The pork dish was $21 and the noodle dish was $19. My total bill came to $60 before tax and tip. If I need to stuff my face with a Chinese umami bomb fast, I'm probably going to the other places for $15-30. I do want to try the rest of the menu at Cheng's, but it's going to be a drawn-out process for the sake of my wallet. I'd be remiss if I didn't include a comment from my dining partner. She compared the quality and taste of the food at Cheng's to Peter Chang's (either Peter Chang's-Herndon, or Mama Chang Fairfax). A high compliment. But she said the value is better at those places' AYCE options than what we got at Cheng's, and I agree. If you've been to none of these places, you have to try them all at least once.

And only if…read moreyou're trying to recapture a memory or two of this place from over 20 years ago when the foodscape in this area was different. I think China King beats this place hands-down. But China King Herndon is gone. And this place, along with Mr. Pepperoni and maybe a few other stores here, has managed to continue on for nearly 25 years. It's been probably a decade since I've been here and I used to semi-regularly have lunch here 24 years ago. The strip mall this is in was redone a few years ago and looks nice. Unfortunately, Chen's owners haven't done anything inside. Upon walking in, I was met with an indescribable odor. Not pleasant, but not completely of rot and decay. Some portions of the wall and decorations are showing signs of abandonment. The tables and chairs are old. The floor tile is old. The wall hangings are old. The AC unit that spins up every few minutes is vintage. The menu board behind the counter is ancient. There is nothing here that merits a dine-in experience. The narrow area toward the back and left of the kitchen that used to be seating is now open storage. I had second thoughts and almost decided to walk out. But I craved the spicy stewed beef noodle soup that I first tasted more than 20 years ago, so I risked it. First, a few conditions described by other recent reviewers still exist. There are two children, presumably of the owners, playing in the dining room. Two of the tables and a few boxes on the floor are strewn with the owners' and kids' belongings and snacks. One child is still a toddler and sitting in a high chair while the other pushes her around. They're cute and not particularly rude or bothersome, but it's hard to not be concerned and distracted. The younger woman taking orders from behind the counter would often disappear into the kitchen for minutes while other customers entered the store and were waiting. That was a good sign though: there were about 4 other customers who came to pick up orders while I was waiting for mine. The wait was a bit longer than I expected, but one person who was there before me ended up walking out with a pretty large order, so that might have slowed the kitchen down. I ordered the beef noodle soup and the spicy wontons. Note: I mis-ordered. I really wanted the stewed beef soup but accidentally got this other soup. So beware there are two similarly listed beef noodle soups. The drive home was about 12 minutes. The wontons were lukewarm so a 30 second zap in the microwave remedied that. The soup broth was still steaming hot. The meal also came with a fried spring roll, unexpectedly. The spring roll was crispy on the outside and not so pleasantly mushy on the inside. It's just a carb bar. The wontons were alright. Good spice on the sauce. But they just weren't tasty. The noodles and toppings came well-packaged in a plastic bowl. As you can see in the photos, i reassembled everything into proper dishes. The noodles were quite good with a little bit of chewiness. The cabbage and bean sprouts also were good and seemed fresh. The beef, well, wasn't what I expected. Part of that was because I mis-ordered. The beef was perhaps lean sirloin. The type of cut that's done for stir fries. Some pieces were tough and chewy while other pieces were tender and seemed they had been velveted in the cooking process. Overall, the soup was mildly satisfying (the broth was quite good), but I was disappointed about not getting to try the spicy stewed beef soup again after more than 20 years. Having seen the condition of the front of the restaurant (and now worried about what the condition of the back of the restaurant might be), I'm not so inclined to go back. Even for just a dribble of that spicy stewed beef soup still occupying my memory.

I looked at the reviews, which are mixed, with some who really like the food but some who were naysayers. Still, we thought it was worth a try. One thing mentioned in a review is that there are currently only two tables in the place. Thus, we were glad to discover that they work with DoorDash. We placed an order this past Sunday. We ordered two hot and sour soups, one order of chicken with snow peas and one order of spicy chicken with garlic sauce. As an aside, rice comes with each entree. We didn't know that so we had ordered one side of rice. As for the food, the portions are large. We got two meals out of them. We were pleasantly surprised by the food. The chicken with snow peas was a mild dish that came with an abundance of white meat chicken and a generous amount of snow peas. The snow peas had a nice crunch to them. The chicken with garlic sauce was mildly spicy and contained white meat chicken, sliced onions, and sliced celery. It reminded me of the same dish I had many years ago: same ingredients, same taste. My husband enjoyed his chicken dish. The hot and sour soup was okay. We've had better, but we've also had worse. If you like button mushrooms, they put a lot of them in this soup. I hadn't tried that style before and wow, so flavorful and tender! The general tso's was the one miss for me, not bad but not my favorite rendition of the dish, and the white rice was just okay. Did any of that stop me from ordering again days later? Absolutely not! Second order: we swapped in the mongolian chicken and the hot chili pork dumplings and this was the upgrade we needed. It was all fantastic. The server was attentive and friendly. Dishes came out lightning fast. And the food itself was stellar! I'll let the photos speak for themselves. You can't go wrong here, especially if you're getting one of the AYCE specials (there's a similar one at Mama Chang's). I want to note though, three of the dishes have the same flavor profile, just different main ingredients: spicy dry fish, spicy dry cauliflower, and dry fried spicy eggplant. They use dry fried red chili and ground Szechuan peppercorn. If you like this, great! Just know it's the same seasoning across these dishes. I didn't take photos of everything, but if it's braised pork xxxx, get it! I will gladly return to this location or Mama Chang's for another AYCE adventure.

The duck roll was amazing and fresh, flavorful, great execution. The cucumber salad was refreshing and perfectly balanced. But the Mongolian chicken was phenomenal. Staff was accommodating when we wanted to customize it, and it came out exactly how we wanted and crispy outside, tender inside, loaded with flavor. Service is attentive and willing to work with you. Quality ingredients, skilled preparation, and attention to detail throughout. This is serious Chinese cooking. Highly recommend.
