I've been wanting to try Spicy Moon for a while. The pink exterior immediately caught my eye (my favorite color). It stands out in the area. The inside is just as pretty with lots of art, dim lighting, and a really nice vibe. It seems like a great place for a date. It's spacious too, with a bar area, seating, and I believe an event space downstairs. It's a vegan Szechuan spot, and I tried the Dan Dan noodles and vegetable fried dumplings. Both were good, especially the noodles. I'd definitely come back to try more of the menu.

Great ambiance and service. Fun place for groups. Came here for a friend's birthday dinner. Mocktails and cocktails were flowing. I thought the mocktails were delicious but a bit pricey. Accommodating for all. I had the gluten free Dan Dan noodles. Omg, can't wait to have those again. I have difficulty with stairs so the staff let me use the bathroom upstairs (thank you). We did have a bit of a delay sorting the group check cause they only take 3 cards, so bring cash or venmo a friend who's willing to put their card down.

My husband and I had a date night a few weeks ago. We saw a concert at Bowery Ballroom and sat down to dinner beforehand at Spicy Moon at Bowery. Our host seated us at a two person table. They were genuinely friendly and awesome to us the whole night. I mentioned that it was our first time there and had questions about how to order, and the host graciously answered and helped me order for us. I found this place because I wanted my husband to try Szechuan dishes that he normally cannot have as a vegetarian. Yes, Spicy Moon is vegan, and they totally pull off vegan Szechuan. Here's what we ordered for family style (all recommended - favorites noted) * Crabless Rangoon * Spicy Dan Dan Noodles with Vegan Beef * Crispy Eggplant * Peppercorn Brussel Sprouts Another memorable thing about Spicy Moon at Bowery that night was the playlist. Under the pink fluorescent lights, our ears were treated to some classic/killer 2000/2010 jams (e.g. back-to-back Lady Gaga tracks). So for me, the atmosphere, the vibe, the food, and the tunes that night cemented it for me - I love Spicy Moon!

NBA finals watch party. We ate our delicious dan dan noodles and garlic style tofu so fast we forgot to take pictures of the food

I've loved the food here for years (the dan dan noodles are my favorite vegan noodles in the city), but I just discovered how cool the bar is for watch parties!! This was an epic choice for the NBA finals! Delicious food and the staff was somehow so attentive to a huge crowd of Knicks fans and celebrated just as hard with us. They made this such a perfect NY night . Will absolutely come to Spicy Moon sports watch parties from now on!!

I went during Happy Hour to grab a bite and ended up trying a few things! It was low lit with an art deco feel. The service was solid as well bringing out the food pretty quick. The beers were $5 and they're brewed in House. All the beers are delicious and refreshing, even if you don't care for beer. I always enjoy Buffalo seitan wings and these were solid. The beef and broccoli were my favorite this time around but I'll be back to try a few more options.

Spicy Moon is one of those restaurants I recommend to everyone -- vegan or not -- because the flavors are incredible and the dishes are consistently satisfying. Their mapo tofu, dan dan noodles, and dry pepper style dishes are classics. my absolute favorite is their dry pepper-style dish. It's super crispy, perfectly seasoned, and adding the vegan chicken takes it to another level. It's the dish I always tell friends to order -- truly a must-try. The ambience is lively and a little bit noisy, the portions are generous, and everything comes out fresh and full of flavor. The service could be hit or miss though. I've brought so many non-vegan friends here, and Spicy Moon always ends up becoming their new favorite too. Whether you're looking for a casual dinner spot or a reliable go-to in the city, Spicy Moon never disappoints. Highly recommend -- especially that dry pepper dish with vegan chicken.

I had to be in the area for a dinner nearby but arrived about an hour early, so I decided to stop in since the happy hour menu caught my eye. It's definitely on the darker side inside, but still warm and inviting. The staff was incredibly friendly and made us feel genuinely welcomed. It's one of those unexpected spots I can see myself coming back to and supporting, especially since they seem to host fun events on the weekends. The General Tso's mushrooms were good: whole button mushrooms, breaded and coated in a flavorful sauce. The scallion pancakes were also a standout--crispy, flaky, and chewy in all the right ways. I'd absolutely order those again. One of the most interesting things about this place is that it's a microbrewery. All of their drafts are brewed in-house, and I really enjoyed the watermelon sour. I'm already looking forward to returning and hanging out with the personable bartender. It's also very vegan-friendly, with something on the menu for everyone.

I used to be a huge spicy moon fan. One of my favs in nyc but lately i've been underwhelmed by the food. For nostalgic sake, 4/5 but the food was more like a 3/5. I wouldn't recommend the curry stir fry -- was kind of odd. the salt and pepper one is much better. i also added fake chicken to it but i felt like they skimped on that. also wontons are usually amazing but they were mushy this time. overall, still a classic but quality has been declining. i'll probably still be back though

Chili Glass Noodles w. Vegan Beef

Glass noodles with vegan beef were soooo good (especially for spice lovers). The dish was flavorful, umami, and had a good kick of spice with crunchy vegetables. Enjoyed my experience here, the ambiance was very much like a club with loud music and dim lighting.

10/10 I would highly recommend Found out about spicy moon from vegan dale and decided I had to try them out in person. I had an excellent experience here. The service was great, I loved the ambiance it's very causal, relaxed and intimate setting. The food came out fast and very delicious. For starters I had the crabless Rangoon, with some wonton in chili oil( a little spicy). Followed by the cold sesame noodles, Dan Dan noodles and string beans ALL soooo good. I even tried out some of their homemade beers very crisp and refreshing. I would recommend the tropical beer and/ or the watermelon- strawberry. I would definitely come back or even try one of their other locations in the city. I just hope it's as good as this one lol

Food was good, but spicy rice came out cold and service very very very spotty. Chili oil wontons were perfectly done but filling so bland I want sure there was anything inside. Place insanely loud.

I'm obsessed with the pink fluorescent decor at spicy moon but don't get me started on the food: -The chop cheese spring rolls are FIRE! -The chili glass noodles with vegan beef ARE TO DIE FOR !!! -Salt and pepper vegan chicken is PERFECTION!!! Not to mention the prompt service , good looking staff and lively playlist. A definite vegan must when visiting New York. I will definitely be back

    Morlene C.

This new Bowery location is much larger than their other spots. Love that they serve vegan Szechuan food so my non red meat eating self can finally experience dan dan noodles and spicy wontons. On this visit I had the Beyond beef glass noodles, which were delicious. They don't hold back when it comes to spice, but you can choose your heat level for many dishes. I will say the food is quite oily, even for Szechuan standards, but it makes for good drunchies. The moody dark pink lighting makes it feel like you're always at the club at this location, so apologize for the dimly lit photos of my food attached. It's not necessarily an upgrade from their other locations - just larger and with more of a scene vibe. If you find yourself in Bowery with friends who have different dietary preferences, Spicy Moon bridges that gap nicely.

The ambiance feels straight of the golden age, which is an aesthetic I'm certainly a sucker for. Even their robust cocktail menu fits the bill and is one of the prettiest menus I've ever had the joy of perusing. Staff was able to sit us a little bit ahead of our reservation which was also much appreciated. Wait staff was also very helpful and attentive, I don't think I've ever had my water glass so topped off! Starting off with cocktails, this place is a gin bar through and through and you'd be making a mistake if you didn't try one of their many options. I went with the 10,000 words, which you simply just give a spirit of your choice (I picked gin of course) and whether you antes) wanted your drink shaken or stirred and the bartender does the rest, so a bit of a surprise! I wound up with their version of The Last Word which was delightfully citrusy but I was hoping I'd wind up with something a little more adventurous app things considered. My girlfriend got the blackberry G&T, which was not only very pleasing to look at but delicious to boot. For food, we started with splitting some zucchini blossoms and beef cheek bao buns (both come in portions of 3). Both were tasty, but I love a good bao bun and these were so light and pillowy, I could have just went for an order of those for my main course. For the entree I went for the roasted half chicken, perhaps the most unassuming choice on the menu but this was maybe the best roast chicken I've ever had. Prepared perfectly, cooked to perfection, excellent portion size, and the kicker of it all was the stunning gravy that I was tempted to lick my plate for. Chicken is very easy to screw up, and they nailed it on all fronts here. My girlfriend went for the Valerie Signature burger with white cheddar and this thing did not mess around! A very rich patty, cooked to her temperature of choice served alongside some garlic truffle fries that made an American classic feel just a little more elevated. Our experience was delightful and I'd love to comeback here again, especially to check out more of the cocktail menu and soak in more of that golden age aura the place gives.

The speakeasy vibe and the dark ambiance really makes this place feel even more exclusive. With just a few tables and the bar setting, you're in for an experience you won't forget (unless you answer the wrong questions and really end up with a drink you don't like HA). This wasn't my case. Of course I described my two favorite things: Negroni + mezcal. The obvious answer would be a mezcal Negroni, but that's not why one comes to a place like Attaboy. Our amazing curator came by to ask us all a few questions, write down a few words in the napkins, and mix up the perfect drink that our master bartender crafts, curates and creates. My drink came as I couldn't possibly imagine. It looked like a Negroni smelled like Oaxaca, with all the smoke simmering up and preparing my sensory experience, leading to the best first sip.
