    Masaman curry......not good
    Roger H.

5 stars based on the duck curry alone! This place put me on to the magical wonders of a Thai duck curry as this was the first place I discovered how magical this item is. I've since tried a multitude of different duck curries and can say ive tried my fair share of them at this point and can easily state this is,hands down, the best duck curry ive tried, and probably the best duck curry in nyc. The duck was incredibly crispy and still tender, the curry itself was rich, but not overbearing and still contained a nice sharp hit of flavors and spices only a Thai red curry could encompass. Run and try the duck curry here, it's all you really need from this restaurant

Came here one night with my family and some extended family and we were seated right away. The restaurant had a dim settling which I think was just because we came pretty late in the day which I enjoyed and it was decorated very nicely. The staff were very accommodating to our large party and the food was delicious! Seriously one of the best Japanese Thai places that I have ever been to! I usually love Thai food and I love Japanese food so when I heard that there was a fusion in woodside, I had to check it out. Everything we got was amazing! I cannot even point out what the highlights are because I believe that everything was sooo good. Everyone on the table enjoyed every dish that we had and we finished almost everything leaving only part of a dish to take to go. I will be back to try more items on their menu, I think it is my new obsession for now!

Finally got a chance to try spicy shallot despite growing up nearby. My party of 5 arrived at 1pm on a snowy Saturday and there weren't any diners. The restaurant was decorated beautifully with flowers all around. We ordered a Som Tum Tard appetizer along with a Keang Som (crispy whole branzino), duck curry and drunken noodle with tofu. The appetizer was a nice sampler plate with papaya salad, egg, chicken wings, ham, and crispy pork. I enjoyed the variety and the papaya salad the best. The highlight of the meal was definitely the duck curry, which had perfectly crispy skin with a creamy and flavorful curry sauce. The branzino was a bit disappointing since the curry sauce wasn't very spicy and mostly just sour. It was also too watery to be a curry imo. The drunken noodles had good flavors and was very satisfying. We also ordered a pitcher or red sangria that was also great for sharing. Overall I had a good meal at spicy shallot and would return for their duck curry.

I haven't eat here for years and they have some renovation and the restaurant now look nice and more modern. Service is great with very friendly servers and food is pretty quick. - BBQ Beef which is delicious and juicy, love it! - Yum Salmon is good in Thai style of sauce, if you love spicy you should try. - Japanese modern set: It just a regular rolls with nothing special but can feel you up if you are hungry. - Scallops Carpaccio: this menu here I have no idea what went wrong with it. They put too much salt and the sauce is weird. Not crazy at all. I believe most of dishes are delicious from what I ate with a big group of friends last time and I got to try more authentic food. I'm still very happy to eat here and will try more food next time when I come to Woodside.

I love going here. The setting is always aesthetically pleasing and the food is authentic even with its Asian fusion. I'm Thai and I approve their taste. The server was attentive and kind. Thanks we'll be back, as always.

Every dish was delicious and service was so prompt! For a group of 8, we got 3 starters and 4 mains which was more than enough and left with full and very satisfied stomachs. After enjoying the starters, like the fresh and crunchy Papaya Salad, flavorful and chewy Pork Jerky, and soft but crunchy Chive Cakes, we knew the entrees would be good. Of the entrees, I think the Green Curry was my favorite - it had a slight heat that helped balance out the creaminess and often heaviness of the coconut curry base. But I also enjoyed the Drunken Noodles which definitely had a kick but the tofu soaked up all that sauce. We had also gotten Pad Thai which is a sweet and sour classic and the Pineapple Fried Rice. They also have sushi on their menu that we did not try. It seemed most people came for the Thai as well but I'd like to try more things on their menu the next time I come - like the Pork Hock, Calamari, or Fried Branzino. What a treat!

One of the most popular Thai restaurants in Elmhurst . They also serve sushi there as well. Great atmosphere with great interior designs. Great service as the server checks up on you often. Food are on the little pricey side but Dir to inflation most of the restaurants are like that now .

Such good Thai spot. I've been coming here for years and the food is pretty good. My go to is definitely the drunken noodle or even the base of fried rice. They certainly have renovated the place and the ambience is completely different from what it look like 10 years ago. And of course the service is great. I've literally never really had a complaint coming here.

My boyfriend talked about this place and wanted to take me during a light snow day. Coming in I was admiring the cute floral decor and the cozy design of the restaurant. We started off with apps which were chicken wings, curry puffs and my boyfriend has some shrimp tempura rolls. For mains we got the chicken and tofu drunken noodles and the basil fried rice with duck. Both apps and mains were delicious. For a Thursday it was a little crowded, but service is great. I can see this as a casual date spot for future dinners.

@foodie_starry Just had a fabulous dining experience at Spicy Shallot in Queens! Started off with my favorite Lettuce Wraps--think healthier Krapow with all the flavors and none of the guilt. The Crispy Calamari was a perfect crunchy delight, and the Mango Shrimp Salad was a refreshing mix of juicy shrimp and sweet mango strips. The Yum Salmon was a zesty take reminiscent of South American ceviche, bursting with fresh flavors! Can't forget the Black Tiger Roll and the star of the show, the Salmon Clay Pot. The salmon was hearty and the sauce-soaked rice was just divine! Also indulged in the rich and comforting Duck Curry, and the Ocean Noodle Soup (the seafood is not that fresh though). To drink, we went tropical with Mango Juice and Jumbo Coconut Juice, which were the perfect complements to our meal. Spicy Shallot offers a fantastic mix of Thai and Japanese dishes, generous portions perfect for sharing, and all at great prices. Highly recommend for anyone looking for tasty, filling meals!

Nestled in the heart of Little Thailand in Elmhurst, Queens - this little spot serves great Thai cuisine. A lot of Thai locals are regulars, which shows that the food is great. The restaurant is clean (including the bathroom) and family friendly. It has a lot of tables and seats to welcome guest, eliminating waiting on line. The staff are professional, helpful, and friendly. They also serve Japanese sushi, sashimi, rolls, and rice bowls. We tried their Drunken Noodle, Thai Fried Rice (with Beef), Coconut Rice Chicken, and Khao Mok Nuea (which reminded me of a Filipino Dish - Beef Pares). Everything was great from plating to taste. Most dishes on the dinner menu is above average, but you won't be disappointed with how much they serve in portions. Also try their drinks/cocktails - very refreshing. We will definitely be back since places like these are hard to find in Long Island. Be aware - street parking - you have to pay the meter before 7pm.

Entering the area I was almost immediately greeted and ordered the food I had an interest in within a decent time frame so service is pretty good. I stuck with ordering mainly Japanese dishes I was familiar with because not many of the Tibetian dishes caught my eye. I had the chicken Teriyaki Lunch Box along with Shrimp Tempura Sushi and Lemon Iced tea. The food was good and pretty affordable. Note: The Ambiance quota wasn't highlighted so a short summary of the place. It's well kept but not outstandingly special or anywhere near gross. The lanterns hanging above are a nice touch.

As a big fan of tongue, my mouth watered. The waitress asked me how spicy I wanted it, so I requested mild to ensure it wasn't going to burn my mouth. The Sushi Pizza was tasty, although thought some may think it was a little pricey for the size. The flavorful tongue in the Cheley Khatsa was tender, as expected. Glad I didn't get it spicier! It came with white rice, which helped. Although I'm not often in this section of Jackson Heights, might consider stopping by another time to check out other specialties. Recommend you check it out as well.
