This place changed its not the same highly rated restaurant as the so called newspaper said it once was. It has a weird gambling vibe. The decoration don't make sense. I'm not sure where the owner is going with the restaurant but it doesn't seem to be working for the restaurant. The food is not as great as before either. Difficult place to find as Google Maps decided the location was inside a neighborhood and then just gave a range of addresses as the destination. After circling around for a bit, we all but gave up. Suddenly, we found it out of the corner of our eye tucked away in a strip mall with a tiny sign. Hurray! Inside, the interior is cramped and the decor woefully tacky and outdated. It gave me the impression that this is mostly for take-out. Since I have no home here to take food back, we ate inside. About four tables inside, and all but one were full even at 10pm. The menu looks impressive. A bit too extensive for me (probably 70 different dishes), but what I saw looked promising with Lao minced meat salad (Larb) and even some Isan Province style dishes. We opted for the Isan style hot wings, Larb, and Drunken Noodles (Pad Kee Mao). The hot wings took absolutely forever to come out - 30 minutes. If I had known this, I would have never ordered them. Once it had been about 20 minutes, we were informed these take awhile and the owner apologized. Well, that would have been nice to know from the beginning. The hot wings we were warned were super spicy. They ended up being fairly sweet and very saucy/messy. Flavors, though, were quite good and the portion was massive. I thought this would be like 6 wings - it was 12. Larb and Pad Kee Mao came out after. Larb was top notch, they nailed it. Enormous portion too. Freshly made and they had all the right ingredients. A bit spicier than expected, but still well done. Pad Kee Mao was puzzling. The whole dish was unlike any I've experienced in Thailand or the US. Flat ribbon rice noodles were there, but the mushrooms and heavy oyster sauce gave the dish an unfamiliar color and the flavors were different. My wife wasn't too happy since this is her normally her favorite dish. Service was super friendly and we had a great time talking with the owner and other person on staff. It is certainly a homely environment and it seems the other patrons there are regulars. We appreciated the personal attention and learning about the restaurant and its origins. I normally would give 4-stars, but I think the long wait time for the food to come out and also the bizarre preparation of the drunken noodles has to knock it down to 3-stars. I was craving Thai food and saw this place on Yelp and read all the good reviews so I decided to check it out. This place definitely did not disappoint. I ordered the lunch special for only $6.95 along with a mango smoothie with tapioca. I ordered the Basil Chicken and it came with an egg roll and pop. This was such a great value for great food. The Basil Chicken was tasty and had the right amount of spice I asked for (I ordered spicy). The flavors were authentic and the service was awesome. The owner was there and made sure I had everything I needed including spices on the side in case I needed more. The chef even came out and asked how everything was--everyone was super friendly! I would recommend this place to anyone looking for great food and even better service! 4 stars for food, 3 stars for the wait time, 5 stars for friendly service. This is, as others have said, a small and unassuming place; there are only about 5 tables. It's a true family establishment, with the owner in the front and his wife in the kitchen, and a few other people helping out. I went with a large-ish group and we got a wide assortment of dishes. We had a number of salads, which were the true northern Thai style: a lot of fish sauce and spice, lukewarm meat (or jackfruit in one case), and maybe just enough basil for flavor, but certainly not a salad in the American sense. These were all deliciously well-seasoned. We had two curries (Kow Soy and Penang Curry if I recall correctly), both of which had particularly noteworthy depth of flavor. Some of the other dishes were less remarkable, though. They were "slammed" (to use their own words) with online orders when we got there, so it took over an hour for our food to come out. However, I was with people who had been there before, who said it's usually better, and the owner likewise kept apologizing. The owner was also very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu, and he had an interesting life story involving growing up in the US, moving to Thailand and meeting a local woman who he ended up marrying and bringing home, where they opened a restaurant. Yes, they do have the generic pan-Asian menu items to appease their takeout/delivery crowd but they actually have featured Thai dishes and have three levels of spiciness. This place is a true hidden gem. It's small and very basic to look at but the food packs a punch. The owner is an absolute sweetheart and his wife cooks all the meals. My favorite place(thai twin) closed recently and my boyfriend and I figured we'd give this place a try with all the good reviews. Called the order in, great fast service. We got there 20 minutes later and it was ready. When I was waiting to pay I also overheard other people telling the staff how good the food was so my expectations were lifted even higher. We ordered pad si ew and pineapple fried rice, which I order almost every time I get Thai, and I'm not sure what went wrong but the noodles seemed to clump all together,were dry, and weird texture. I've been here twice. Awesome, flavorful, fresh food. I recently had the ginger chicken along with a spicy Thai roll, and the spices really are front and center. I love my veggies with a crunch and they were certainly cooked to perfection. Be warned: if you have low tolerance for heat, don't go with spicy and stick to mild. I personally love spicy so it was fine. The place is small but very homey, and the staff is extremely personable. Wanted some late night grub and thought about ordering through GrubHub, but opted for Eat24 because GrubHub is almost always pizza. Anywho, opted for Eat24 and found this gem. I'm not much for Thai food, but the menu entrigued me and my boyfriend. I loved the sticky rice and mango. Crab rangoons were super fluffy, and something about the fried rice was just so satisfying. My boyfriend wolfed down his curry and chicken. The other curry was for his brother. My only issue with the place is that I think they missed a box of rice, and upon delivery the delivery guy right away asked where his tip was and when I gave it to him, he voiced his disappointment in the amount, which I admit wasn't a lot, but I don't carry cash so all I had was the spare change around the room. The restaurant interior is bright, happy, and modest. The food is spectacular to share with your friends and family. Between three of my friends and I, we had a curry dish, papaya salad, crab ragoon, lard nar, chicken larb (minced chicken with herbs), and one of their sour soups. Half of us have ate a lot of lao and thai food before in the past so we were quite impressed by the flavours and authenticity of the food. Rest assured, your taste buds will be happy.
