I can't say enough good things about this place. My husband and are I obsessed and make it a point to go at least once a week. Wow...I am so glad to have finally tried this place. A local restaurant in town only a few blocks from home and absolutely amazing food. When we arrived we were promptly seated and greeted by a waiter. I say a waiter since after the first one a few others came by to see if we were being helped already. We though we knew what we wanted to eat since we previewed the menu at home but the waiter told us about their specials and we changed our minds. We ended up ordering two appetizers. I wish I knew the names but they were in Italian and we just ordered by the description. One was a thin sausage dish with hot cherry peppers and a few other things and the other was ricotta cheese with broccoli rabe on top of fresh bread. Both were so good. For dinner my husband had a pasta dish with short ribs and I had Chicken Francese with a half order of Tagliatelle with Bolognese sauce. Everything was cooked perfectly and delicious. I wish I had taken a picture of all the food but I didn't. The hubby did of his. We will be back anytime we are in the mood for Italian. read more

The waitress was wonderful - explained all the specials, and then again when we needed help. We brought our own wine and it was opened very quickly. She let us talk and enjoy a glass of wine then came over and took our orders. The burrata salad was amazing, octopus perfect and the long hots with potatoes - yummy !! I was introduced to this restaurant today at lunch for a business meeting. The restaurant is handicapped accessible which was great since one of our party was in the wheelchair. The restaurant does not have a liquor license so it's BYOB. I had an Escarole and Bean Soup which was outstanding. Following that was a Chicken Marsala panini which was large enough to share or bring home- I did the latter. My colleagues had Lasagna and a Chicken Special both of which were beautifully presented and served. Can't save enough good things about the place. Enjoy! read more

We were there last Saturday with a party of 7 celebrating a 75th birthday, waitress was good and we were seated within minutes as we had a reservation made weeks ago. We all ordered appetizers, dinners, dessert and coffee, one of our friends ordered the salmon which we told they are know for. The salmon came out overcooked and she could not eat it, she sent it back and the waitress said it would be a few minutes, well it was over 30 minutes, were all were almost done with our dinner. They came out and gave it to her, she said she can't eat it now when everyone else has completed their meal, so they bagged it to go. Our bill was over $500, I felt bad for our friend who had to pay for a meal that was overcooked and not one person by their staff would take it off the bill. When she got home she opened up the meal and it was not edible, it was a waste. We will not be going back, we enjoy going out and its usually the 7 or 10 of us when we get together. read more

My Wife and I stopped by for dinner and I must say; this place is excellent. The service was great and the atmosphere is nice. For appetizers we had grille octopus, fried calamari, and stuffed artichoke. My main course was a 20oz plus Ribeye in bone with italian hot peppers and potatoes, and my Wife had Capellini pasta with braised ribs. I must say, everything was very good! This BYOB is some of the best Italian food you will find! Service is attentive and helpful, and the decor makes you feel like you are transported to a different world! This review is long overdue! Came here a few months back after searching for a restaurant on short notice to have my Dad's repast. Being that his store was right down the street, I remembered my dad spoke highly of this place and how great the food was. We met with the owner to go over the party details and he was very accommodating and helpful. He gave us great entree options that were different from the usual chicken parm, eggplant dishes most places offer. Along with pasta, salad soft drinks/coffee and dessert that were included as well. We were a little unsure of how many people would be coming after the funeral, but they did a great job setting up more than enough tables in the back for us. It was the perfect back space and everyone had enough room to move around and mingle. They let us drop off the liquor beforehand and refrigerated everything for us. All the servers were pleasant and efficient. The pasta was incredible! Everyone was raving about the vodka sauce which was delicious. The owner even came out with extra pasta they had in the back to offer seconds to our guests which I thought was really nice. The chicken entree I had was excellent! I forgot the name but I believe it had some kind of mushroom pepper sauce with rosemary and garlic. Very tasty, a fresh take on the usual Italian fare. We also had a pork and salmon option as well which our guests really enjoyed. Everything was fresh tasting and they give you plenty. As for dessert, the owner really went above and beyond! When we first met, we discussed having a cake ordered special with my dads store name on it to honor him. We weren't sure if he'd be able to find a place that could recreate the logo but he did! Everyone loved the cake and I was so happy and appreciative that he was able to get the logo printed on so nicely! As a licensed health inspector in the state of New Jersey having inspected over thousands of restaurants I must say Spiga in Totowa is flawless. Upon health inspection I was not able to find one code violation. The owner (Joe) truly prides himself in his restaurant and his food is delicious. I took my girlfriend here weeks later and she keeps asking when are we going back. The owners at Spiga make you feel as though you are a part of their family. I would give "0" stars if i could. I ordered Zuppa Di Pesce ($26) which was the worst I've ever had, tasteless. Another person in our party ordered a Rib Eye Steak, which was full of fat and had absolutely no flavor either. The atmosphere was roudy and since we went to enjoy ourselves with friends, the food wasn't so important to our night out. When we finished our meals we asked for dessert menus which they seemed dissappointed to give us. Then they hovered over us like vultures, asking us if they could take each used item off the table seconds after we were done with it. They did this for 15 minutes until they finally kicked us out. I've never been to a sit down dinner for 4 people that was only 1 hour. We will definitely not go back. Went for New Year's Eve dinner. When making the reservation I asked if the menu was the standard menu or they were offering a special New Years menu. Standard was the answer. Not standard, more limited with increased prices. Upon leaving had to "hunt down" the valet in 8 degree temps. Two of the appetizers were nothing special, squash flowers and clams casino. The menu is traditional yet has very interesting twists on Italian cuisine. The specials are unique and sound very attractive. We had a variety of appetizers including artichoke hearts/stuffed zucchini flowers/octopus/calamari fritti. Entres our table had ranged from black linguini special, rack of lamb with ricotta/pistachio crusting to chicken francaise. Everything was not only prepared well but also presented well! This was my first visit to Spiga. It was a Monday afternoon at 12:15pm. I was the only customer until two men came in later in a social/business meeting. I ordered the linguini and clams special. It definitely came with enough clams! I enjoyed my meal while listening to 60's music which then switched to more elevator type music. I also had the complementary fresh toasted bread and the Tortellini In Brodo soup. I ended the meal with a slice of Tiramisu. The soup and dessert are a bit smaller than at other places. Fabulous dinner experience! We went there on a Saturday night with friends and ran into a totally packed house. They do a good business, and it's obvious as to why. We waited a few minutes to be seated, and it was loud, but that's because it was packed and everyone was having a good time. Our server came over quickly to recite the (LONG) list of the evening's specials, then took a while to come back, but it's OK because we were catching up with the friends. All four of us had seafood specials, and all four of us were impressed by how nicely prepared and delicious our meals were. To top it off, prices are very reasonable considering the high quality and appealing presentation. It's a shame that this restaurant is NOT in our normal neck of the woods, because we'd be going back a lot. But, we will make a point to try to get in there again when we are anywhere near there. After much anticipation I finally had the opportunity to eat at the famous Spiga in Totowa. I think the star of the show is the food, very good with a lot of special options. The decor is very modern, nice. Dessert was just ok. I got the impression it was frozen previously tho. I have had plenty of Italian food and I feel it's a bit over rated and a bit over priced with nothing special. Staff, most are very friendly but our waiter was a bit arrogant and I so didn't appreciate that. My experience was not horrible but it wasn't not worth the price they charge. The terribly ill-bred, ignorant, and outright disrespectful owner approached our table 10 minutes after I ordered the veal osso buco special for two to tell me it was "VERY EXPENSIVE" and proceeded to ask if I still wanted it (by very expensive he means $70 by the way). If there is concern that your customers (or in particular, younger looking, single mothers who dine out with their teenager on a random Thursday evening) can't afford to eat at your establishment, perhaps you should properly train your waiters to announce special pricing at the appropriate time.
