Perfect place to go if you are looking to satisfy your sweet tooth craving. They have ice cream, ice cream sandwiches, milkshakes, donuts, pastries and coffee/tea. Prices are reasonable and they are opened all day. It was super busy when we went but the wait wasn't long. There was only one lady working and she was so kind, patient and did a great job! Visiting from out of town, we were excited to try Spilt Milk for takeaway donuts and dine-in gelato. The gelato is very very good, actually. The service was exceptional, too. We were greeted with a smile, and the staff understood the flavors and menu items very well. The donuts were just "okay." They are better than Krispy Kreme, but I wouldn't write home about them. On top of that, they are a fair bit more expensive than the donut chains. It was later in the day when we went, so hear my judgment with that in mind. Overall, we were pleased with our visit. If we ever revisit Ocean Isle Beach, we would probably go back here for the Gelato. read more

We went to Spilt Milk a little earlier in the evening before dinner, because when on vacation you live on a different schedule than usual! The staff were all seated towards the back working on folding boxes but as soon as we walked in the door they all jumped up and welcomed our large family group! We were a large family group of 17 but the staff took the time to let us sample flavors of ice cream and answer any questions we had! After church, lunch and a quick errand today, we decided to stop somewhere for a quick treat on our way home. My husband wanted to try a rather new place in the area, "Spilt Milk". I knew they served ice cream, yet hoped for other menu items. Being lactose intolerant, I'm quite familiar with looking for other options; and yet, not struggling with a "sweet tooth", it's usually no discomfort for me to just enjoy my husband enjoy his once-in-awhile craving. In addition to many ice cream flavors, I was grateful to find other choices behind the glass counters such as glazed and jelly-filled doughnuts, lemon cake, key lime pie, and skewered chocolate covered marshmallows. Although the website (here) for Spilt Milk states that frozen yogurt is available, when asked of the (only) young lady behind the counter if she had frozen yogurt, she stated "no", offering no further information. (Although curiously, there was some type of frozen dispenser directly behind where she was standing. Could it be for milkshakes? Not sure.) With that aside, the young lady seemed very pleasant and I thanked her for working on a Sunday. I asked if anyone had thanked her for doing so, which she denied, so we both chuckled when I told her that I now needed to thank her twice! (LOL) The establishment was quite roomy and seemingly clean. However, what few tables there were for the large space of the room, and the fact that they were all pushed up against the wall, gave an odd feel to the entire space, as if there had been a large party with a band on a dance floor last night that hadn't been reformatted for today's usual clientele. So, settling on our selections, my husband chose the Nutella flavored ice cream (at $5.50) and I chose the "Cake in a Jar", specifically Strawberry Shortcake (at $4.98). My husband acknowledged that his was "good, but not worth the price." Mine was so clever and cute in presentation with the company logo/label & a skinny bow around the top. It was layers of cake, strawberry (pie?) filling, and vanilla icing. It looked so yummy, but... We attempted to enjoy our desserts at the table and chairs in front but we first needed napkins to begin. Returning inside and asking for napkins, I was told "we don't have any napkins". Looking around on the counter and all the tables, there were no dispensers, as well. What establishment serving food or drink does not have napkins...or even the evidence of an attempt to serve AND RUN OUT of napkins?!! Isn't this some sort of county health violation? I would understand if I were traveling in a Third World Country. Returning to where my husband was seated outside, and noticing a bathing suit bottom (or top?) balled up against the wall with some debris blown on top, two strikes was enough for us...okay, me. So it was time to take our treats and a 5-minute ride home and try to enjoy anew. Arriving home, and proceeding with a modicum of hope, we gathered a few napkins and sought to enjoy our treats on the patio. Exploring my "Cake in a Jar" was nothing more than inspiring to possibly make something similar for family or friends, hopefully improving by replacing each layer with (1) a better quality cake, (2) whipped cream or pudding [vs a sugary, ordinary vanilla icing] and a fresh fruit compote [vs canned pie filling]. I really had wanted and tried to include as many positive features of our experience as I could possibly gather of Spilt Milk. We've owned a condo on Ocean Isle Beach since 2001 and moved here 2.5 months ago. WE WANT NEW BUSINESSES TO SUCCEED! These aren't easy times to open any business and no complaint is repeated more by exasperated proprietors than "No one wants to work." Therefore, we will continue to pray for strength, courage, and CHANGE especially in the Brunswick area! read more

This was my first time in this establishment, I was not impressed at all! After looking at their website and deciding what we'd like, we walk in, before 2pm, and there are 3 options for doughnuts and 1 fritter. Needless to say this was not a good impression. The lady working behind the counter said, what would you like? Like there were options and it was normal to have this few amount of doughnuts. I was kinda expecting to hear...we just had a big rush and we're sorry we're low on inventory or our machines are acting up, but nothing to assure me this was unusual. At the end of the day, I can't recommend this place. Lowe's Foods across the street has better options and better customer service IMO. I wished this wasn't the case as we've heard good things leading up to todays events. read more

If you think the donuts are amazing.... You need to try the new amazing cakes at Spilt Milk!!! The turtle cheesecake was to die for and this coming from a snack-a-holic. Also bought my mom the coconut cake that she has just raved about. I also had a mixture of the homemade white coffee gelato with the chocolate gelato and it was fantastic. New doughnut and coffee shop right over the bridge at OIB! A little pricey but hey we are on vacation! Enjoyed the spilt milk doughnut which is cookies and cream basically. Husband got maple bacon and then we also bought a banana pudding to try later. They have a huge coffee selection with lots of syrups! I got an oatmilk brown sugar and cinnamon latte and it was so good! Will def be back for a sweet breakfast every time I'm here! can't wait to try the gelato. Not cheap but well worth it - the strawberry jam in the "strawberry shortcake" donut was especially good. The BEST ice cream, donut and coffee shop... it's a MUST!! My family and I are visiting from out of state and I have to say this was the BEST ICECREAM I EVER HAD. After my first taste, I said to my family "WOW this is Amazing, I need to take the time to write an amazing review". The staff was so kind and helpful, answering all my questions. The donuts are out of this world, so soft and moist and delicious with all sorts of flavor. The icecream was creamy and very well made. My sister said her Banana Pudding icecream was the best she's ever had, and my mint Oreo icecream was authentic and real mint icecream. 10/10 recommend, we will be going back again for breakfast and dessert tomorrow!! #YUM read more
