Hoped not to have to write this, but I honestly have never experienced such poor business practices. This will be long but I want to be honest/thorough. If you don't want to read it all: you'll be lied to repeatedly unless you agree to spend $10k+ with them Found Spinal Performance via social media. Ad described a free consultation with scans. I submitted a request for consult and was contacted by their office describing the process and informing me that at the consult I would have option for a more thorough exam by one of the doctors and x-rays, but that would cost $260. Made me question why a non-licensed individual is providing the initial consult but I decided I had nothing to lose by at least checking them out and could always decide not to pay the $260. Before visit I had time to do more reading on CBP and go thru some Yelp/Google reviews. 1st appt: Nice location and staff was very friendly! Was given a tour, explained the process, and did the foot scan and posture screening. Before committing to the $260 I made it clear to the 2 assistants that I wanted a better idea of potential costs/pricing/insurance acceptance. This was due to reviews mentioning being blind-sided by quotes of close to $20k (I specifically brought those up). They refused to give any type of numbers at first and I know that they can't quote a full program, but at least give me an average cost per visit. They finally able to tell me that yes, some programs can run close to $20k, but "those are patients that almost need surgery for severe problems...which you don't have". The 2nd assistant then said "programs can be as little as $2k to the severe $20k cases". I said OK to the exam/xrays because the "manager" also said that I would be given the full reports and copies of my xrays whether or not I proceeded with a full program. Day of follow up (on Fri 11/14): Again, everyone super nice. Dr J met with me to review the xrays and also stated how "your back really isn't bad and this will be a simple fix, but of course will take a few months". I then met with a new person. Forgot her name/title, but basically the office salesperson. She quickly burns thru a bunch of numbers and fluff to sound like I'm getting a ton of benefits and then finally gives me a per visit price of $175. But follows up with saying that I will need to commit to the full program of 99 visits!! Rounding to 100 that is $17,500! She says my insurance doesn't cover their office and I tell her I can't commit to that at this time, but please provide me a written estimate so I can review it. I proceed to go back and forth for 10 mins with typical closing questions, "what can we do to make this happen today?" - "you want to fix the issues you're having, right?" I repeat that I don't commit to $17k on the spot so provide the breakdown and my scans/xrays for me to think about. Says she'll have them all for me by Monday and I accept that. No treatment or adjustments in either of the 2 appts. I gave a full week and on the 25th reminded them that I never received the breakdown or any of my scans/xray. They now say it's $35 fee for my reports and I reluctantly agree. Another day goes by, and I remind them about the breakdown and that is ignored. The xray report they give me is a PDF with great descriptions but also images in reduced sizes, which another facility can't use. After more research I find a new provider with MUCH more experience and covered by my insurance. I don't mention Spinal Perf until after the consult to be fair, and mention the xray report. The new provider says "this is good as they use the same software we do. They can send over the actual xray images for us to move forward". I sign a release of records form and it is sent to Spinal same day. Couple days pass and I call Spinal. Receptionist says they can't send it to the new provider and they do not have the actual xrays, only the summary. I ask them to provide the records directly to me. She states it would be a HIPAA violation to provide me the records! Are you serious?! Another "manager" says they'll resolve it. Another day passes and the salesperson calls asking why I won't continue with them. I remind her about my request for records. Next day, I'm given a sob story about how 3 people spend 3 hours to download the images, but that I can come with a flash drive. I show up with an empty drive and am told they can't use it because it's not new in packaging. Told that I could be giving them a corrupted drive that could hack their system. It was hard to stay calm and agree to return with a new drive the next day. Assured that the files are downloaded and ready to quickly copy once I return (even says only 18MB for 7 files). I show up with new drive and to wait 25 minutes! I question why the delay if files are ready and not even that large. Just more BS. Patient care is clearly not their priority, just profit. Finally have xrays 33 days later.

What I appreciate most about this clinic is the personalized attention from the physical therapist, who dedicates the entire session to one-on-one care, a rarity in the field. After working with a couple of therapists, I found Ross to be exceptional and the ideal fit. His expertise in sports injuries and nuanced understanding of human movement is impressive. Moreover, his encouraging and patient demeanor is essential when dealing with patients in pain (and who might be feeling down because pain has prevented them from doing what they love). Over the past couple of months, I have seen significant improvement in my injuries under his care. I have regained my range of motion, and he has correctly diagnosed and treated what has been the true cause of what's been causing my lower back/hip/ sciatica pain. Ross adapts exercises to accommodate my needs, enabling me to continue enjoying activities I love. Last but not least, I really enjoy the front desk staff, including Brian, Nicky, and Carter. They are always welcoming and friendly. When I see them, I feel like I am saying hello to my friends. It's so important to feel relaxed going into PT. I cannot recommend State Of The Art enough.

So I checked out the website and the qualifications of the many Physical Therapists listed. They ALL were highly Credentialed and I made an initial appointment for an evaluation with Ross. I am certainly very fortunate to see Ross because he had an additional Certificate in the area I needed treatment. Ross didn't waste any time during the 1 hour period and went right to work in some Deep Tissue massages and kept me informed what and why each step is critical for my successful recovery! Thank you Ross!!! Hopefully, you'll NEVER need Physical Therapy Treatments, but in the event your Doctor or Healthcare Professionals recommends treatment, I would highly suggest you speak to the Hard Working and Honest Professionals at State of the Art Physical Therapy in Tustin, CA. IN THE SHORT TIME I HAVE BEEN A PATIENT, I HAVE BEEN TREATED BY SEVERAL OTHER PHYSICAL THERAPISTS AND THEY SHARE THE SAME VALUES, INTEGRITY, ETHICS AND CHARACTER ABOVE REPROACH, JUST LIKE ROSS!!!

I've seen her for prenatal massages, postpartum massages, craniosacral massage, and now monthly I go to her with whatever I feel needs attention. She has been life changing in all of these seasons and massage types! Her knowledge of the body is extensive and she truly listens to the body and knows what it needs! I'll walk in there with shoulder pain and leave with such a relief because she found the trigger point in a completely different part of my body (I wouldn't have even known!). She is also a wonderful person to chat with, but will totally respect your silence if you choose to relax during! The office staff is very sweet and responsive over text - so convenient to not have to call! The rooms are very clean, comfortable, and relaxing. Whether you just want a feel good massage, or you truly have body trauma that needs work - trust me and go see Emily!! I've sent my whole family to her & they all rave about her as well - especially my very picky gym go-er brother who is never pleased with his massages! It's truly worth every penny to have a genuinely corrective and restorative massage like this.

We have seen Dr. Lin, the owner, for all of these years and he is very talented and helpful for working out different pains. He tries to figure out where the pain is originating and has a whole body approach that I appreciate very much. Emily, the massage therapist, is wonderful. I see her for lymphatic massages. She's wonderful at lymphatic but is also able to work on deep tissue if needed during my session so she helps me with recovery as well. I was having issues with foot pain and Emily helped me discover that the source was tightness through the back of my legs all the way to my glutes. Once she worked on the areas, my foot pain is practically zero. It's important to see medical professionals that do not treat just the area of pain but look further into where the pain originates. I almost got a shot in my foot for this pain from my podiatrist and I'm so glad I didn't. I thank Emily for helping me solve my problem and bring me relief. I can run again because these people care to help and look for why the pain is happening to begin with. The support staff is wonderful too. Everyone is so nice. This practice goes above and beyond and I can't say enough wonderful things about them. I recommend them to all my friends and family.

Among the injuries I sustained, the most significant were skull base fractures and fractures of my orbit, which led the emergency doctors to diagnose me with traumatic optic neuropathy. After consultations with maxillofacial specialists and ophthalmologists, I was told I was legally blind, 20/230, and that this was now my life. Devastated, I reached out to Dr. Lin who was highly referred by a longtime family friend. She felt he and his team should see me and offer other opinions. While Western medicine may refer to Dr. Lin as a "physical therapist," I don't think that language fully defines what he does. At our first meeting, he was gentle, attentive, and deeply aware of my condition. His method is difficult for me to fully articulate, but it was unlike anything the physicians I had seen before had provided. Dr. Lin created a treatment plan in collaboration with his in-house acupuncturist, Dr. Park, and the two of them treated me in concert. I visited them about once a month. Dr. Park performed acupuncture targeting specific hemispheres they agreed would be beneficial, while Dr. Lin used manual techniques, pressing, pulling, and adjusting different parts of my face and body. One moment stands out clearly in my memory. As Dr. Park had acupuncture needles placed in the points she selected, Dr. Lin pressed a section of my face under my eye with significant pressure. The instant he released, my nasal passage cleared dramatically. I had been so focused on my vision that I ignored other parts of my body that also needed attention. This is what impressed me most: their understanding of the interconnectedness of the human body, and the way each system affects the next. Even though I came in focused on a single issue, they recognized that other problems could be developing or stagnating and that treating one area would likely set off a domino effect. They addressed everything collectively rather than isolating one symptom. Dr. Park also gave me homework: changes to my diet, foods to avoid, preferred cooking methods, and even the temperature of liquids I should consume. Detailed instructions that had never been offered nor had I considered. Western medicine had only offered me chemical treatments or surgeries to remove or implant. Dr. Lin was one of the few who was relieved I had not had a surgery and was not taking medication. In my most desperate moment, when the reality of vision loss was fresh and overwhelming, they helped keep hope alive. I am happy to say that I have since improved to 20/40 vision. Slowly, every day I feel a little better. I am not claiming that Dr. Park and Dr. Lin performed miracles. What I do believe is that the treatment they provided stimulated something meaningful in my recovery. Maybe I would have healed to this extent without them, maybe not. But I wholeheartedly feel that their treatment encouraged my body to heal itself. I am four months removed from the incident, I have my vision back and I feel great. Recovery is not complete, but I am in a place now that my Ophthalmologist told me never to expect. Thank you to both Dr. Lin and Dr. Park. I could not be more grateful.

Aetna confirmed you all sent the claim after the 180 day period, so YES they (the 3rd party billing department) are ineffective at their jobs. He also spent a lot time working on the mobility of my back and lower body, being very methodical about it and drawing from his vast experience and training to customize it appropriately. Here I should add he does not hesitate to encourage you to push yourself further to the limits of what is possible, while at the same time being very mindful of any associated pain and fine tunes and adjusts accordingly.
