This place was recommended by some friends as a place to try for Pakistani food on Devon. Its a small place and was pretty busy. There are a few tables to sit. Relatively clean and have counter service. We got a table and then walked up to order our food. We ordered a paapri chaat, a hunter beef sandwich, special noodles khausa, a bihari mayo roll, pani puri and a small fry. We also orederd some pomegranate flavored Limca and a coke. The food came out as it was ready and was fresh and hot off the stove. The khausa and the pani puri were hits with the family. The noodles were cooked well and the sauce and gravy from the beef was very flavorful. Everyone enjoyed that. The pani puri the kids loved to the point that we had to ask for more puris. The pani (spiced water to dip the puris in) was spiced and balanced well and the chickpeas and potatoes were sprinkled with a spice blend that gave them a depth of flavor then just plain boiled vegetables with salt. The hunter beef sandwich was good although a bit dry. The flavor with the toasted bread and addition of veggies and mayo complimented the beef well. The roll was spicy for most and was decent but not spectacular. The paapri chaat was refreshing and delicious. The star of the evening was the gola gunda (shaved ice with syrups and condensed milk drizzled on top). THe kids loved it and it came in a bowl with plenty of syrup and condensed mile. It was tasty and refreshing. We liked it so much that we stopped by twice more on our trip just for the gola gunda. I would definitely be going back, if for nothing else than the gola gunda. read more

Worst of the worst, after my first review I wanted to try again. Ordered my samosa, pakora and tea. Nothing that is not readily available. The order taker was good but no customer service. Now I waited to get my order, multiple orders were completed but not mine. Finally I asked and the guy in the back came and asked the gentleman fulfilling orders who's order is this sitting on the side for so long and he looked at the receipt and took my name and I said yupp I have been waiting for quite sometime. They started arguing with each other, I grabbed my order and left. Pakoras dryer then a desert, samosa took the first bite and had that old food smell. Still ate it and faced the music. Hunter Beef sandwich is one of the best sandwiches on Devon! If you are doing a food tour on Devon Street, this needs to be on your list. We also had the Chicken sandwich and the a few paratha rolls. I was told this place is Pakistani street food. However, there are pictures of Char Minar and other Hyderabadi sites on the wall. Lastly, the ambiance is ok and the floors needed a scrub down. Solid 3.5 starred kinda venue. It's fast food Pakistani /American /Indian food. The countershop restaurant is a greasy spoon because, it's quite greasy & unkempt looking. However, I doubt anyone looking for a "clean meal" would ever consider entering. They used to maintain hours that kept them open late into the night, though, these days they promptly close by 11ish pm. Due to their status as is and based on reviews I haven't ordered any food that requires time for preparation. Due to their general lack of cleanliness of the serving areas and dining, I chalk them up to "street vendor" variety. Because of that I stick to ordering items that were freshly prepared and present under the heat lamps. Beef or veg samosas, chicken cheese cutlets, fried chicken, varying styles of pakora, etc. Fun side note: I've brought their fried chicken to gatherings. The consensus opinion was that this chicken is better than Popeye's. I can't say for certain whether it is or isn't. The food, the people, they are a-okay. Are they notable.. no. The grub is inexpensive and the food is fast. The food stall wouldn't be your first choice. Unless one was high, drunken or not carrying a lot of cash on them. read more

This is a great place to pickup/carryout good hot snacks especially the Zinger and Club sandwiches. No one does them better than them on Devon! The Zinger is an entire crispy chicken breast on a brioche bun. Mostly chicken and minimal breading which is great. My old standby for years has been their Club sandwich. Double stacked and made with pulled fresh minced chicken, fried egg omelette, lettuce, tomatoes and Mayo. Super soft bread makes it very easy to handle without making a mess. No time to takes pics as we ate in the car. These are nice to take on a picnic or if you just want something quick. read more

I have been coming here for many years now to buy chicken samosas and soft drinks. But today is the LAST time I will be purchasing any items here at this restaurant establishment. I came after working hours and knocked on their window to give the worker a cash tip and the owner who was still in the Restaurant with all the lights on was installing and uninstalling a TV menu stand on their wall and I noticed he was standing with his bare feet on the counter which food is prepared . I was disgusted . Rehan he did open the window sliding door derogatorily said " do you see I'm working here ? !!! I said I was just wanted to leave the cashier who help me at the counter a tip . the owner said he would promise to give him the tip but I was so grossed out and disgusted from what I saw I just give the owner the tip his name is Rehan and I left right away this is a health code violation I believe they should sanitize everything now you never know if if he has toe fungus or any bacteria he can infect other customers and contaminate the food that they serve if their surveillance cameras are working , they should know what happened and what I witnessed. I advise everybody not to go to this restaurant name Spinzer on the Devon Avenue. I feel bad for Khaleel he looks overworked.Khaleel is very sweet he always makes my samosas fresh which I gladly wait for. Figured to finally visit the Spinzer since our other two alternatives were closed. With the help of the staff person, we went with an $.80 aloo samosa, a $6.99 chicken mayo garlic roll (as a non-spicy alternative to the chatni roll), and also a $4.99 chicken bun kabab. Each option tops their appetizer, their sandwich and paratha roll categories on their menu. Prices are going to be a little more than Ghareeb but I don't think you can get the bun kabab at Ghareeb and that the mayo garlic roll's paratha was very good fresh with dine-in. Some parts of the paratha were chewy soft as one would expect, other parts crispy/crunchy that you'd expect more from frying, rather than grill/griddle/press. $1.13 Rani float is available in the case as a relatively natural orange fruit drink along with other drink choices. Did notice fried chicken along with other items warm and ready to go at the front counter. Styrofoam plate and plastic spoon came with the samosa and chutney, and a foam plate for the paratha roll (wrapped in paper). Got the bun kabab to go, and that was packed in a styrobox with plastic bag. If one wanted to minimize disposable-ware, I guess you could order a roll to go - but then you'd miss the freshly made experience. So, how does a hole-in-the-wall taxi-driver hangout get four stars? Well, let me tell you. They do what they do well. Don't come here expecting sit-down dining elegance, white glove service, or romantic ambiance. Spinzer serves up excellent Indo-Pak street food; cheap, tasty, and generous portions to boot! I'm especially fond of the aloo samosas. They're bursting with flavor, huge in comparison to most, and only seventy-five (75) cents! They even sell them frozen, so you can experience all that goodness at home whenever you like! They have various biryanis, wraps, sandwiches, rolls, and snack foods, as well. Most everything I've tasted has been worth ordering again. Now, lest you think it's only a grab-and-go spot, there is table service. Once you place your order at the counter, grab a seat and one of the lovely gentlemen will bring you water and plastic cutlery, and your meal whenever it's ready. They're good about making recommendations, letting me sample things, and giving me lots of my favorite sweet chutney without charging extra.I also like that they're open until 11 pm, or so. If you're looking for some chai snacking or some old style subcontinental sandwiches look no further. Located at a corner on Devon street this place is a gen and takes me back to the streets of Lahore and Karachi every time I'm here to eat. There menu comprises of small snacks from pakoras and samosas to entrees like Biryani and Qorma. For beverages they have lassi , shakes and good old style chai. For dessert you can also order a falooda or kulfi. My favorites are the club sandwich and samosas. What stands tall above everything is their delicious and crisp Pakoras. Nothing like some chai and pakoras on a cold winter evening. I would highly recommend this place to everyone , nothing fancy but great taste and you can't beat it for the price. read more

Hand down the best place if you want authentic Pakistani snacks. I have been here multiple times, primarily for the Gola Ganda. I have not had a better Gola Ganda in the Chicagoland area. Everything we got here was absolutely AMAZING! When you walk in, it feels very small and crowded, especially if there are more then 5 people there, but the food and service is unparalleled! We ordered 2 chicken samosas, papdi chaat, pani Puri, Hunter chicken, a beef bun kabab, and a Goya falooda and let me tell you, it was simply delicious!!! I ordered the papdi chaat and Hunter chicken with no onions and it was great! I ordered the Hunter chicken in a paratha roll. The chicken samosas we're okay, I wasn't too big of a fan because of the onions, but the flavor was good in the one bite I did take. The Hunter chicken was absolutely amazing!!! It was tender and had good quality. The paratha was perfectly well done and tasted great! The papdi Chaat was literally my favorite papdi Chaat I've ever had because they focus more on flavor and not on piling too many extra things on it. It was simple and delicious! The paani Puri could have a been a touch spicier but other than that it was perfect!!! I didn't have any of the beef bun kabab but everybody I've ever gone with has loved it! It is definitely more on the crazy spicy side, but the flavor is good! Now, I'm going to start a separate paragraph for their falooda....... This falooda tastes like heaven in a cup. Like, this is the best falooda I have ever found. This is the best falooda on Devon. The kulfi was full of Malai and super creamy. They don't skimp out on the quantity of the kulfi either. We got the Goya falooda and loved it so much we took one to go too! It was literally the best falooda ever!!!! All in all, this place gets a 5/5 stars from me because they may be small, but they know exactly what they are doing! We met the owner/son, Rehan, who was super nice and humble. So one fine day, with the entire thrill in my heart, I opened the golden doors of what could have heaven but ended up being, well.... Got the samosa's, chai, mango lassi and chaat papri. Chai was decent. Samosa's were ok, crust could have been better. Lassi was too sweet, could taste the tinned mango. Highlight was chaat papri, which got me thinking if I ordered something wrong. There was no papri in it, overloaded with bad chutney's. Such a disgrace to my beloved chaat papri. Ambiance is more for takeout, if you're still thinking of paying a visit. Overall, my friend's recommendation of this place took a toll on our friendship.. kidding, but it had the potential to be called the Judgment day. read more

Used to be great food but now ever since they upgraded their display, their food quality has went down along with customer service. Today i went there with my husband and we got there at 11:56am. Apparently it was gonna open at noon and the guy was slowly putting chairs down from the table. He saw us freezing outside and said 10 mins. I honestly thought i should just leave but we went back in the car and waited until 12. Once we went in, we ordered some appetizers and food and were waiting at the table. I like this spot so much that whenever I land in Chicago it's mandatory to stop by before checking in to the hotel and also grabbing some before heading back to the Airport. I love the samosas, bun Kabab, Paratha rolls, gola Ganda but on the last visit Biryani stole the show. It was the first time that it tasted better then home and was made fresh enough for 2 people for just $6.80!! Do me a favor and try their biryani next time you are around town. read more

When I got to my car, I noticed that the container of chutney was open and it drained all the way down through both bags of samosas, leaving them drenched and soggy. I was extremely angry since it is a Sunday afternoon and parking is HELL on Devon. It took me another 15 minutes to find parking. I went back inside to SHOW them what they've done. They couldn't have cared less. They did re-make my order which took another 20 minutes. No apologies, etc. This time I checked the order, the chutney containers they use are so flimsy that in the second order, one of the containers was leaking. These guys have the best Fries on Devon! The uncle at the register is so kind and I respect him so much, I hate seeing him do work for me. Just a heads up, keep a tab on your order and prices, they mess up at times. Their "Samosa chat" and "aloo samosa" are delicious, but I do think their bun kabob is overrated (Tahoora's is better in my opinion). Their turkey sandwich is delicious but I don't have anything to compare it too. If you're craving a burger or something of that nature, this place is okay for that, some of the sandwiches on the menu are good, but not all. I would suggest you go in and ask for their most popular items and go off of that. BUT, if you're craving biryani, you should go elsewhere. Dine in experience is nothing special. No decoration or anything but that's no big deal. You still got the families coming in. one annoying thing is that they have a small cooler in the corner where everyone has to get their water from.
