Believe me, if you've had a Planter's Punch or three at P-Town's Boatslip Tea Dance, you'll likely find yourself staggering on Commercial Street looking for a nosh to absorb all that liquor. That's why this pizzeria was perfectly placed for me and Jamie W. We needed to eat something before facing the increasingly dense crowds of people on the way back to our Airbnb. The menu was basic enough even in our inebriated state. There were exactly three choices of pizza slices: Cheese for $4, Pepperoni for $5, and Greek for $5. The staff was kinda rude both at the pizza place and it's "sister" shop, the ice cream parlor. I thought the pizza was just meh and definitely not worth the price. If anything else is open, I would recommend giving that place a try first. read more

Absolutely disgusting pizza. Their crust is passable, their sauce tastes like Ragu. I ordered a vegan pie and for some reason the cheese they used was orange? Very odd. I think they couldn't get mozzarella and just decided to substitute a blend of cheeses and hoped no one would notice. read more

Understand this is practically a historical marker for the area, but was under-impressed with the pizza quality. Took a couple of slices to go....Thin but not crisp enough to hold up, very oily (dripping oil), and a "tang" to the sauce that's a bit acidic. This is the place to be for really great pizza. Thin crust and delicious sauce. We got in just in time. No line but minutes later once we sat down, the lines started to wrap around inside about 12+ people deep. It was first come first serve on the seating (no table service). The best value is to order a whole pie rather than slices if you're three or more people. Otherwise, single slices are available but in only three choices - plain, pepperoni or Greek style (olives, spinach, red onions and white cheese). The crust was crispy and the flavors are robust. The meats were excellent! We opted to order drinks at the neighboring counter because the Pellegrino options and soda were not what my kids can drink. (Note: neighboring counter is a separate business but they share a space). Pay at each separate counter and remember, cash only! Try to get in by 7pm to avoid the dinner crowds. Enjoy! read more

Pizza after a late night out is usually good no matter what. I have to say I was not a fan of this one. I was ok with the thin crust and the minimal cheese but the taste was not for me. I also never leave a crust uneaten and this time I did. Maybe it just wasn't a good batch of ingredients. I may give it another try next time I'm in Ptown. read more

Yes, it's expensive relative to your typical pizza place. But you'll notice the difference. The crust is perfect (and not white flour!) and the sauce is tasty and put on proper amounts. The cheese blend they use is perfect, and the toppings are high quality. It's not just the perfect way to cap off an evening in Ptown after the bars close, but I love nothing more than getting a whole pie for dinner. The Spiritus Special (a loaded pizza) is a favorite for an entire pie, while I can't resist a slice or two of pepperoni. Yes, it can be a little chaotic in there when busy, with more of a crowd than a line. But this is a true family-run place and Sophie & Co. are a delight during less busy times. The shaded outdoor dining space out back is an oasis of peace and quiet on Commercial Street. And given credit card merchant fees, I'd do CASH ONLY if I were in their shoes as well! read more

Spiritus Pizza is not just like the definition of what "good" pizza is... its like the GOLD standard of pizza. It Can't be compared to any other... anywhere .. like at all.. I'm a bit of a pizza afficionado and I mean I can honestly say that the only thing it can be compared to .. is itself. Its in a CLASS OF ITS OWN. Do not come expecting deep dish or a long list of specialty pizzas with overpriced heavy items for toppings you don't want anyways but just sound fun... its thin crust.. like paper thin. The convenience and location of this place adds to the wonder. You can get slices of cheese, roni and Greek on demand all day every single day. Any other customizations will require the purchase of a full pie and rightly so. Oh man are they ever busy during peak summer times. Come with some kind of order already forming in your mind before setting foot in here.. you will feel less overwhelmed by the pace of the place. My favorite location to enjoy a slice is right across the street at the town landing but you'll also find a larger than it looks shady garden patio outside with usually plenty of seating. The space inside is great but never temperature controlled in the summer. Dogs are welcome inside and out. The drinks and ice cream here are also WONDERFUL. A perfect P town casual afternoon begins with a Spiritus pizza slice and finishes with one of their espresso shakes. Let me preface the review this way: nothing I say about the quality of the pizza matters. You will probably end up grabbing a slice. On to the food: the pizza itself just doesn't cut it. The sauce is nondescript and the dough has nothing going for it. Any of the $1 slice pizza stores that have proliferated NYC would stand up well against Spiritus. Despite that, I ate here two nights in a row! The space inside and out oozes chill, it just has that kitschy quality that attracts you. They have a lovely pride flag mural outside, and I took a couple of great selfies too. Moreover, they are open late until 2AM. If you weren't aware, all bars/clubs/ in Provincetown promptly close at 1AM. Therefore, Spiritus is one of the only late-night food options available. Spiritus fills that drunken late night niche. TONS of people crowded this place to get their last-minute grub on. In summary, people don't come for the pizza, they come for the vibes. read more

Spiritus is one of those beloved P-town institutions. I grew up coming to this town every year since I was a little kid....in a world with a lot of change, it's comforting to see this pizza joint is still present on busy Commerical Street. Is this the best pie you will ever have? No. Will it suffice when you are drunk and craving a slice? YES! I placed my order and grabbed a table. They do have a few interior tables and you will usually find people milling about in front enjoying their food. I opted to grab two slices here on my most recent visit, I am a New Yorker and somewhat picky about my pies. I'd give it a 3.5 stars. Let's be honest, you are not going to find amazing pizza on the Cape. My slices did not WOW me, but they aren't bad either. No gripes. A basic slice was around $3, plus they have some specialty pies available. They have a decent enough selection of toppings to pick from as well. Additionally, ice cream is also available for purchase, but I haven't had it here yet. I came in for a quick coffee and ordered a large decaf latte with soy milk and 2 pumps of hazelnut. Not only did they have decaf when other shops had run out, but the coffee was great. The shop also had a lot of non-dairy milk options. However, the conversation got weird when my aunt and I were talking about how it's difficult being a woman was and he said that being a straight male made him a minority Provincetown. That might be true, but it was a weird comparison. He also barely looked up from his crossword puzzle as he greeted us. The blond woman sever was extremely rude after we asked for a side of marinera sauce. It's something they don't ordinarily do. Instead of politely explaining that, she flat out said "NO!" At first, we thought she was kidding and when we politely asked again she repeated no very sternly and proceeded to give us an attitude and tell us we took too long to order (we took less than 2 mins), and that there were other people waiting and we were taking too much of her time. Another server came out and gave us sauce and said it's not a big deal. Later, she called our name for the pizza and handed it directly to me (8 mins after she took our order). I took the box to the table. She then came over to the table and was very nasty and said we took someone else's pizza. She yelled that we needed to work with her and said she called out a different name for the pizza, and insinuated that we did that on purpose. The pizza itself had little cheese the sauce was very bland, the dough was tasteless. I would not recommend the food or the service. Suggestion: please improve your marinara sauce, that makes or breaks your pizza. It was an absolutely humiliating experience. read more

RUDE / ARROGANT / BAD SERVICE! For starters, the pizza is barely edible. It is essentially: cheese, sauce, and other random toppings on heated cardboard! Making matters worse is their UNFRIENDLY, RUDE, and needlessly ARROGANT staff. They all seem so MISERABLE. The OLDER MAN working the ice-cream/smoothie side is beyond CRUDE and TACTLESS. Dealing with this "death-warmed-up" relic isn't worth the sweet treats or calories! There are many places in town to get BETTER: pizza, cookies, and ice cream. Was in P-Town for the fire works and couldn't resist stopping for a piece of pizza. They were very busy and I was served two pieces of pepperoni pizza straight out of the oven. It was a little greasier than usual. There was a very healthy amount of pepperoni and the outer crust was nice and crispy. The under crust was not as crispy as I would have preferred, but the combination of cheese, sauce and pepperoni were just right. Worth a stop when visiting P-Town.
