Looking for a mid-afternoon pick-me-up, it was right where we needed it to be. Indoor and outdoor seating, perfect to enjoy a cup of coffee and a pastry. It was also the perfect location to people-watch at the same time. Love the white fence around the seating, just set the tone. Sure isn't the Purple Feather! I've been trying to get back there since I was a regular before it sold and the name changed... I loved the gelato (when it was under the previous owners) and would treat myself frequently while in town. Well, it wasn't open most of the week-even though the sign said that it was open on Friday. I was looking for a nice birthday cake for my dear friend. Custom cakes bakeries are a hard find in Ptown but Yelp brought me here (thanks Yelpers). Wow, what happened to this place? Did it get sold? It used to be so cute and fun, with lots of yummy treats and drinks that came in these really nice, bug, artsy mugs. The food is fresh, prepared to order and the staff is very friendly. The breads and pastries are made fresh daily. I had the lobster Benedict which was full of lobster and a smooth creamy hollandaise sauce. My husband had a bacon and cheese omelette with toasted fresh baked bread. We also had red and white sangria which was pretty tasty. Oh and last night we had some scrumptious pastries and gelato. Our son loves the gelato, which he has had on every trip. Manager told me I could not finish speaking, never is that ok. Before that I had asked if I could sit outside because I was hot. He said that table is a four top. Then I said, but it's not reserved and I'm already here and it's actually a three top. He said "let me check hold on." He never came back to the table. I said the manager never came back to tell me if I could move tables. He said yes you can. I walked outside, and the manager lied and said he told me already I could not sit there. I said no you never came back to give me a final answer after I asked you a second time. He kept interrupting me, and I said, please let me finish, and a nice tone of voice. He raised his voice and said no. He was very controlling and rude and to tell someone they are not allowed to speak is never OK. The owner is abusive and a control freak. He accosted my friend and stuck his finger in her gelato all because he said she didn't follow directions. Upon walking in there are signs facing the dining room wait to be seated. My friends wanted gelato and not a seat in the dining room. There were two small tables to the side near the registers. None of the staff had an issue with my friend sitting there while she ate her gelato. The owner bulldozed his way over and demanded that my friend leave and her order was "to go" because she didn't ask him to be seated. The place was empty and he actually ignored her originally when she tried to get his attention to be seated. She thought the staffs acknowledgement to sit was enough. He demanded she leave. He grabbed her hand with the gelato in it and it slipped and his thumb went into her gelato! He didn't even offer to give her her money back. She ate around the finger mark just to prove a point she won't be bullied. He threatened to call the cops and she told him if he doesn't she will just because he laid his hands on her. He wound up canceling the cops as per the police and my friend filed a police report. This guy shouldn't be in business. No one should be treated like this. He was beyond extra. He was nice to my friend and her friends last year as he was a new business owner in town. This year his staff doesnt look happy either. Mr Owner you owe my friend an apology and she has every right to get loud with hog for touching her. Your gestapo style won't work if you want to stay in business. The menu was very over-priced, which is what one should expect when visiting Ptown, but when the food is under whelming and the service is sooo bad that you're embarrassed to admit to your friends where you went for your $53 breakfast, then try any other place! No smiles by any of the staff, food was served luke-cold, asked for a coffee refill (after waiting 15 minutes to see if anyone would come out of the kitchen to assist) and got the bottom of the cold pot (including grounds in order to get the cup 2/3 filled) and then had to ask (and again wait an additional 15 minutes) for our bill. We wouldn't say that this establishment was necessarily practicing prejudice or snobbery, but the extremely frigid customer service certainly made us feel like outsiders and unwanted. The place was empty (except us) at 12 noon, and we definitely understand why. Don't just stay away, stay far away! read more

Croque madame is just a grilled cheese sandwich, with the simplest bread and cheese + 2 poached eggs (even without salt). Wiener Schnitzel was a piece of a meat drowning in a sour cream with some cucumbers. Please, this is not even close to European cafe. It is just very expensive, not aesthetic and flat. Went for breakfast. Excellent double espresso. Fried eggs over easy, pancakes, avocado toast and a very tasty "rosti" of fried potatoes and sautéed mushrooms were superb. Highly recommend for breakfast, especially if you like really good coffee. read more
