First time at this Gem. I have lived in the area for many years and passed it many times. Dear friends suggested it as they have been there before and we said yes. Great ambiance and probably the best food that we have had in the area. My wife had the broiled sea bass with spinach. This was superb as it required no dressing. We shared the Tuna tartare with was incredible. Ribs were also exceptional. Flourless chocolate cake was also a showstopper. Drinks and wine to match. Just had the most ridiculous experience you could ever imagine with spinach and artichoke dip coming out cold. Returned it, came out 20 minutes later with no chips. Laughingly one of the bar backs five minutes later Asked are you done with this? We said yes gladly take it away we have nothing to eat it with. He took it cluelessly away. The chicken we ordered didn't show up so we left. Hey Spiro are you selling this joint? You probably should! Your staff is dropping the ball when you're not there. Cash in now. Came home to eat cold cuts. So glad I got showered and dressed up for your mess. So after getting the shittiest service ever the restaurant has responded that they won't serve us anymore. If you're looking for diner quality food to disappoint you at a high end price this is your place! First off; we went on Monday, and we were served extremely stale toasted rolls that felt like they were weeks old. "Spiro's? More like SPEARS because that's what you need to cut open the bread. We ordered the baked clams which were basically wet broiled bread. We sent them back to get a salad. And that was safe. I got the spinach artichoke dip which was so watered down I needed a straw. My mom ordered the lobster which tasted like "spare tire" and had barely any meat. It was filled with baby scallops which could have been pearl onions because they were just that tasteless ... I ordered a burger with three toppings which was mediocre, pricey; and I've had better at a diner, honestly. The only decent part of the dinner was when it ended and we got dessert. 200 bucks later, thanks mom for treating!!! read more

What a great atmosphere. Spiro's has an outdoor area as well as a very nice indoor restaurant. They have a very extensive martini menu which they do promote. The drinks are interesting, tasty but light. Might prefer wine next time. The appetizers were cherry pepper calamari which was really full of flavor and substantial enough to share at a table of 6. The spinach artichoke dip was good but it could have been anywhere. The steamed mussels had a good flavor. Dipped bread in the sauce so clear indicator that the sauce was well seasoned. The MR steaks came out well done but that was fixed comfortably by having them replaced. The blackened salmon was very moist and full of flavor. A good spot! read more

The big question we have for Spiro's is whether or not to give it another go. On our first trip out the waiter was new, so there were mistakes made. Everything from incorrect details on the specials to bringing us the incorrect bottle of prosecco and poor mis-timing of our courses coming out. Although I suppose the last one was more on the kitchen than the waiter. The final oopsie, was the poor ribeye steak. What was listed on the menu as a Prime Steak, clearly did not present as one and you could tell as soon as your knife and fork touched it. My immediate reaction upon touching the steak was to say to my Bride "this is not prime" I figured maybe it was choice steak that they had tried to tutor through finishing school in the kitchen. It didn't happen. There's only so much you can do sometimes. When the waiter came round to make his check by utensils were are at rest and I was considering whether to comment or not. He took a proper cue and asked if there was a problem with the steak. As i searched for the words to use, he immediately offered "we've been having problems with the ribeye's today." Would have been nice to now when I ordered but .... Apparently the owner was seated at the table right behind me and we were back to back. So when I confirmed to that steak was "bouncy" the owner swung right around and conferred with the waiter. He confirmed that this might be a bad bunch of steaks and he offered to replace it. he recommended their strip steak as a replacement. In my world, a Strip can never replace a ribeye but I wanted to be appreciative of the gesture. This is a little anti-climatic, sorry about that. The NY strip came out and I don't recall if they called this prime or not, but it wasn't. Additionally it had the burden of leaving up to the promise made by the original prime ribeye. I think most steaks are challenged to live up to that type of hype. I ate half of the steak, and left a 25% tip. They comped the steak so I guess we call it even. But for the immediate recognition of the issue and attempt to rectify, this would have been a two-star outing. Another star might have been on order if a gentle suggestion had been made to stay away from the ribeye... read more

I have always been curious about Spiros due to the amount of 'Best of Long Island' awards they continuously win. For a special occasion, my husband and I finally made a reservation and we were pleased to say the least. Only negative is happy hour ends at 5pm on a Friday, it's tough to get to after work! We had reservations for 6pm but arrived at 430 to indulge in their happy hour. I was surprised to see bar was completely full but we were able to find a spot as a couple was seated to their table. Spiros has various crafted and unique cocktails, specifically martinis, and it's impossible to choose just one. For happy hour, I tried the Hipnotiq Glow and the X-Rated Martinis. My husband had a Classic Margarita. All great choices. For appetizers, we had bacon wrapped scallops and crab cakes. Once we were seated, we were greeted by the friendly waitress and ordered our drinks. I ordered the Dragon Martini which was my favorite of all the martinis..so far. For dinner, I had the Filet Mignon which was served on top of mashed potatoes and for dessert, I had the mint chocolate chip martini. The food is fair not great. Same with the service. We got there at 8pm for reservation, but waited at least 10-15 minutes. They admittedly were busy, but we were a group of 10 and when the main course was being served it came out a few plates at time and the last plate took a while to come out meanwhile we were waiting to eat. I assume they have warmers, but apparently they did not use them. The actual food was just okay and one guy had a steak that was fatty and he finally returned it. For me I was there twice first and last. For the prices I would expect much better food and service. I think the drinks were good. read more

The people who own this restaurant make sure they are literally are at the hottest events all the time. I've seen them everywhere , from the hospitality ball in nassau county to Southampton. The burger on the happy hour menu started 14 dollars. $3 to add cheese. Another 3$ to add bacon, some $4 dollar options. Burger and fries during happy hour. Today's visit I waited 30 minutes for a bar stool. Sat near the kitchen door with absolutely rancid aromas. Not in a hurry to return. The martini and specialty drinks make this place legendary. From sweet and savory to the Hot & Dirty (tabasco and jalapeño infused martini). The clams and oysters Rockefeller were cooked to perfection. The tuna tartare was over the moon delicious and when it came to main courses I opted for the prawns cooked with feta, tomatoes in a anisette reduction. Wow! Served with a generous side of wild rice.... all portion sizes are beyond generous actually and everyone there left with a doggy bag. Aside from this event, I had ventured out this way once before and happy to report the quality of food and service is Top Notch and consistent. I want to like Spiro's so bad. I came here and met my friends for drinks and dinner on a Wednesday evening. Restaurant not busy at all. Immediately not happy with the servers poor taste in jokes. In a nutshell, the service was horrendous. We basically had to ask another server anytime we needed something. 25 mins for a drink. Didn't clear dirty dishes off table. Then at the end the server also tried arguing with my friend about his poor service. Such a bad look Spiro's. I know this place has a solid crew of ppl that work with the owner, but maybe the comfortability has resulted in carelessness and lack of work ethic. Also, if you are going to charge 28-35$ an entree, serve it with a side, please. No side of veggies, rice or starch. Just protein on a plate. Do better Spiro's. read more

Came here for a friend's birthday and around 8:30pm on a Saturday our party of 3 was able to be seated immediately. :) Service - it was nice, the server was super attentive and she checked in on us just the right amount of times. The same wait staff though that took away my friend's plates came to our table about 3 times within 5 minutes while I was still finishing my food to see if he could remove my plate. Overall service was still nice but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't disappointed that we didn't get the complimentary vanilla ice cream that my server had promised to bring at the end for my friend's bday. Food - we shared 2 entrees and an appetizer for our table - got a ribeye, seafood porto, and scallop with bacon appetizer. Comes with complimentary bread and olive oil. All in all, food was good and portions were generous; we even had leftovers. Drinks - I'd come back for the drinks - also pretty generous in quantity. We got a jalapeño mojito and a lava strawberry drink (pina colada and strawberry daiquiri mix) Ambiance - casual and more family friendly towards the back, more of a lounge feel towards the front. Kinda slow, and didn't know anything about the wine selection; I immediately regretted asking about recommendations because it didn't take long until it was obvious this waitress was clueless. And that's ok! Just do me a solid and done waste my time. "I don't drink," would work like a miracle. Might even score some pity points when it's time to tip. Would I go back? Sure, but will I? Our first time at Spiros was at best, OK. For a party of 10, the service was great but the food was not. We ordered several appetizers which were decent, but I didn't understand the mozzarella with portobello mushroom being stacked like a tall cake. It made no sense and made it difficult to share. Delicious Cuisine, Decent Service, Outdated Decor, Discrepancies in Price on Menu vs. Online. So tonight I tried out Spiro's after having it bookmarked for ages. I thought the food & drink choices were fabulous. Sadly my visit wasn't a 5 out of 5 for a few reasons... First, Located on 25a...no issues finding this place. There were plenty of parking spots in the back lot. Entrance to the restaurant is also in the back. I was able to make a reservation with no problem on my Opentable App. When I arrived my table was ready. The prices are high for the area in my opinion. I easily paid the bill, but I feel like the food could have been a bit cheaper. I was a little upset that the online menu hasn't been updated in quite some time and there were some price discrepancies. First Online the French Onion Soup is marked $6 but the restaurant menu lists it for $10... a $4 increase is a big deal, sorry. Same goes for the Tuna Tartare and a few other dishes. My advice is to update the website. The Service was Friendly. Was it the best service I've ever received?- no but it also wasn't bad in any way. I just wasn't overly impressed is all. Refills came only when asked, boo. The Food automatically gives this place a 4 out of 5 stars! Each dish was cooked perfectly. I will be reviewing what I tried: Complimentary Fresh Warm Rolls served with an Herb Balsamic & Olive Oil Mix- was offered some extra rolls which is always a plus. -French Onion Soup: Usually I cross the line at a $10 Soup but I do have to say, it was worth it. A huge bowl of perfectly cooked onions and broth, with tasty bread and melted cheese. It was just what I needed on a cold winter night. 5 out of 5 stars -Tuna Tartare: $14, great for sharing. I thought it was good but not the best I've ever had. Next time I would probably skip this and try something new. 3.5 out of 5 stars -Calamari Arrabbiata: (special) $14 OMG! The calamari was so tender you could cut it with a spoon! If your a fan of spicy, you'll fall in love with this appetizer! Great for sharing, was given a huge portion. I would order this again for sure. 5 out of 5 stars -Rack of Lamb: Beautifully cooked chops, served with flavorful garlic mashed potatoes & spinach. Loved the mint jelly to go along with the lamb. Was given 6 nice sized chops. I just wish my dinner came with something besides a dollop of potatoes & a tiny portion of spinach...I'm paying almost $40 for my entree- throw in a side salad or a cup of soup... 4.5 out of 5 stars -24oz Prime Rib Special- Cooked perfectly, the meat was seasoned oh so well! This dish is for somebody hungry! The fingerling potatoes in a Parmesan Crust were ok but nothing to write home about. Again the dish is $36... throw in a veggie, etc. 4.5 out of 5 stars As for the drinks, I think the iPad full of choices is fun & innovative. I ordered a Spicy Martini with Vodka, Tabasco & Olive Juice- so amazing! Loved the spice and it was strong but not overpowering. The mixed drinks will cost on average between $12-$14. Personally one drink was enough for me. Overall I'm glad I tried Spiro's! The food was excellent and the drink choices are almost endless. Met a friend for a bite to eat here. We went during happy hour on a Tuesday night. I had a glass of wine and she had a lemon drop. The lemon drop was so strong and the wine was a little off. We shared the baked clams. But, they were all breading. Hardly any clams in them. For dinner I had the lobster mac and cheese with fries and my friend had the steak. The mac and cheese wasn't good. The sauce was broken, not very cheesy and burnt on top with hardly any lobster. The steak was average. For those prices, I'd expect better. It was a lively crowd. I may go for drinks again. My husband and I were looking for a late night drink with some apps. We went to port and found that the crowd didn't fit with our laid back style of Saturday night. We'd come to find that even a diner (the old 24 hr standard) wasn't even open for a plate of fries! Upon driving down 25A we came upon Spiros, which we have visited several times before, and been pleased, were also open until 12! Maybe the kitchen was still open! When we arrived we were welcomed with wa smiles and eager staff to help us with a table, bring us drinks, and delicious food. We couldn't have been more please with the service which was given with a smile and eagerness we didn't see at any other location, and never felt rushed despite the late hour on a Saturday night. I am beyond infuriated and gassy.... I can't stop farting and everyone around me is suffering... what do you put in your food cause it wasn't seasoning because the salt even had no taste...idk if I should leave this review or go buy a pepto bismo because I'm farting as I type this.. My steak was awful and had no taste, what steakhouse smothers a steak in steak sauce ? What steak sauce has no taste ? I chose to smother the steak in salt... and it still had no taste. It's almost as if the steak absorbed the salt and ate it so I couldn't taste it. The French fries are better at McDonald's. Because these were still frozen .. the chicken wings were dry and my fiancé was considered for my well being of choking. Mohammed's spinach dip was actually water dip.
