Absolutely blown away by my car buying experience here with Chase Raymond. From the first time that he sent me a personal text message to closing the deal there were so many times that he went above and beyond for us. For example, I had to wait for my bank to wire the funds and it took a couple more hours than I had planned. He went out and bought me lunch! He also brought his manager to give a detailed explanation of direct injection engines and the ticking sounds that they make. When it comes to service level, honesty and personability, Chase was second to none. I had quite a few hesitations about working with a dealership because of the stories other people told me, but after this experience with Chase and Spitzer I would do it all over again. The service person at the front desk made it perfectly clear that he would never want to have sex with me. Oddly I was only asking him to drop the tranny pan in our Eurovan and take a look at the fluid. It was 3:15 on 8/13/20 and he told me it was too close to 5 o'clock. I implored him: We couldn't find anyone to look at a VW in the past two days and our car was likely to break down on the steaming hot highway. He couldn't have cared less. BTW he looked very similar to the warden in Shawshank Redemption and that guy was equally unlikeable. The car was too hot to drive away so I parked it at angle in the shade, which happened to be right in front of the dealership. I sat on the curb, in front of the dealership, and sobbed. I had no where to go*. I went to the dealership to purchase a used VW Passat, asking price of $14,000. I informed them of my coming and that I would be trading in my 08 Acadia and was told they would work with me. I arrived took car out for a test drive and gave my keys so they could take a look at my trade. I loved the car and ready to make a deal, handed a sheet with full asking price and an offer of only $800 for my Acadia. I explained that was an insult to my intelligence and that I will need my keys back, 3 times I had to ask. Very rude was the manager and absolutely no wanting to make the sale with me, so I left. In the past I have purchased 2 VW through very same dealer and countless service done on both vehicles. This meant nothing to the 2 managers that let me walk. I goy $2300 for my Acadia at the next dealer. read more

I bought a 2014 Jetta TDI here recently and have no complaints whatsoever. I dealt with Jake and Igor, with Igor taking me for the test drive, putting absolutely no pressure on me to buy, and closing the deal several days later after I had shopped around and dickered with Jake over the phone a little about the price. They were very nice and I appreciated not having to deal with pressure. I did not like the offer they made me on my trade in but we later came to an agreement. I absent-mindedly left my license plate on my trade-in, and called later, and they immediately Fed-Exed it to me overnight, which was over and above the call of duty. read more

Bought the car in 2020 and it's nice but I regret coming here EVERY TIME I think about it. The car doesn't have some cool features that was promised by the dealership which could be Volkswagens fault directly. The person who sold me the car didn't know how to lock/unlock the doors. My license plate wouldn't screw on so I had to come back to get it put on which isn't the worse thing in the world. I've called a couple times regarding service which wasn't a problem at all, but when I call regarding the aforementioned feature problem I get asked not very nicely why I'm calling now years later which I understand is a while later but I wouldn't be calling if everything you said was true. read more

I love this dealership so much! I wouldn't have gone anywhere else and I am so happy with my choice! 6 years ago, I needed a new car. I leased 2 and I just purchased my second lease. I am so happy with the transaction and the help the people who work at Spitzer provided! Dave in the service department is always on point, he's kind and he's great at his job so, it's a beautiful combination! Jake is new to me but, he was the absolute best! He helped me so much, I am so thankful for him! Todd is the GM I believe and he was supervising and played a big role in helping me purchase my Jetta. Bryant went over the paperwork with me, he was super friendly and nice and Doug always has my back! The soon to be husband and I wanted a new car. Mostly we wanted to save on the ridiculous gas prices, we a VW Touareg, but the Touareg for lack of a better term sucks when it comes to gas consumption. Anyway, arm in arm we went off to the car hunt. We kind of had an idea of what we wanted, it needed to be 4 cylinder, small, 4 door, with enough cargo space to carry my copious amounts of crap. We looked at the Nissan Versa, Honda Fit, even a Kia Soul. But ultimately, I wanted another Volkswagen, so we started looking at getting either a Jetta or a Golf. (The fiance had a Jetta previously) We found the perfect Golf/Rabbit II. It was the smoky gray color I wanted, had all the options, overall it was exactly what I wanted. We test drove it and while it drove like the fiance's previous Jetta, there were cosmetic issues that I ABSOLUTELY needed fixed on it before I even talked about making a deal with them. Whomever had this car before us, apparently was a 20 something Jersey Shore wannabe because it had the darkest after-market tint I have ever seen west of Seaside Heights! Not only that, it was the worst applied after market tint I've seen. Said Jersey Shore Wannabe was also a smoker, albeit, NOT a careful one. It had burn holes in the backseat and on the driver seat which while repairable, still annoyed me. The cup holder in the backseat was broken in pieces and put in the trunk!!! Who does that??? And last, but not least, the car had apparently only been vaccuumed out and then put on the lot. Spitzer put absolutely NO thought in detailing it and making it showroom/lot acceptable. So I brought up my concerns to our sales guy and he said to me: "Well, it's a used car, you can't expect too much." Excuse me???? About 85% of Americans buy used cars, not only that, but this was a $16,000 used car, not some 15 year old Chevy Cavalier that I was buying for my 16 year old kid to go and wreck in a year. I stated as much and said that if he wanted our business, those things needed to be fixed. He agreed that they could be fixed and we said we'd be in Monday to talk numbers. (We went on a Saturday) I will say after that wretched first impression, I went home and went hunting for a VW Golf/Rabbit II that was comparable to the one that I liked. I came up with nothing and resigned myself to buying this from Spitzer. We go back in on Monday, we purchased the car, financing in place, I reiterated my requirements to have the things on this car fixed ASAP. Our sales guy said that the cup holder was ordered and that he would call us to make an appointment to have the tint removed and the cup holder fixed. Fast forward a week later and no follow-up to get that piece fixed. I finally call him and he sounded surprised to hear from me. Not a good sign. He says he needs to find out what day the guy that does the tint comes in and he'll call me back. Think he called me back? If you guessed, no, you're right! We ended up having to go in the following Monday to bring in a form that they needed for the financing, which I might add we did of own volition because the bank had called us. I made it very clear that this needed to be done NOW. I made an appointment to bring it in the next Monday. I bring it in and they give me loaner for the day, they give me a Saturn Aura. With no gas. A VW dealership gives me a Saturn Aura as a loaner with no gas. I, as the customer had to put gas in a loaner car. Tell me how that makes any sense at all?? I come back at the end of the day, and I am told that they are bringing my car around in about 15 minutes, would I mind just waiting? That's fine. I sat there for an HOUR. People were starting to go home and I was still sitting there. No one checked on me, gave me any updates, NOTHING. I'm so pissed at this point, but thankfully, my car showed up. And the icing on top of this crap-pile of a car buying experience was that our car only came with one key. Let me iterate that this was a $16,000 car, once again NOT a Chevy Cavalier. And we only got one key. Our sales guy pretty much told us, too bad. Whatever, we need two keys. So we have to spend MORE money to buy a 2nd Volkswagen key, which are NOT cheap. It ran us to the tune of $200....for a key. Oh, yeah, and we have to get the car detailed on our own too. Let's not forget that! I will NEVER buy another car from any Spitzer owned dealership again. In fact, I hope their dealerships go out of business. They have the worse customer service, follow up, and salesmanship of ANY dealership I have ever been too. Stay far, far, far away from this one!!! The VW dealership we bought our Touareg from, I could rave about for days, they were that good. This VW dealership needs some training....or needs to be shut down. I prefer the latter. read more

I would not buy from this Dealership for any reason! I saw 2 cars on their website and checked availability. A sales rep called to confirm so I drove an hour to Amherst to purchase one of the vehicles the next day. I even called before I left for the dealership to confirm that they were still available. I show up and neither car is available! I test drive a vehicle that was similar and they assured me that they would be comparable in cost. I liked the Tiguan and am ready to buy but the prices are not close to what I saw on the internet. They offered a deal which was close so I decided to purchase. As I am driving out of the dealership, I noticed that they switched cars on me to less expensive model. I go back to the manager and was told "sorry, the paper work is all submitted and there was nothing that he could do." They admitted no fault and didn't even attempt to make the deal right. I am done with Spitzer and probably even done with VW as a result! read more

I went in to look at a vehicle advertised at $39,000. By the time the salesman, Jeffery Washington and the sales manger had finished trying to talk the car up they gave me a price for $60,000 (including a set of wheels I did ask for but they were upcharging by more than double the customer cost of the wheels) before any credit check. They also tried to switch the length of the payment term from 60 to 84 without mentioning it. The dealership seems to have done a complete overhaul of sales people and managers and it was not for the better. read more

My girlfriend bought a 2010 GTI from there and she was completely ripped off. The driver door doesn't sit correctly and they say it's because of the weather seal and they refused to repair it even though it was within the 30 day warranty period. Another dealership said it needed to be rehung. They said it also had a fresh oil change. Not only did it not have a fresh change, the oil was 2 qts under what it should've been. And to top it all off, they didn't include the locking lug key to get her wheels off. She had to buy a new set. Do not recommended this dealership. They will con you just to get a check. read more

I took my pre-owned Jetta to Spitzer for service. I pulled into the covered service drive. I entered the service write up area and was promptly taken care of. The lounge was comfortable and I got some work done with the WIFI. I did not buy the car at Spitzer but the service was great. They found and verfied a number of issues with the car. Service was great and I would return again and again. I took the car to another VW dealership who will remain unmentioned and they found no issues. I am glad I tried Spitzer and I will return. No question there diagnosis will help me keep my Jetta running longer. Thanks to the staff for a great job! read more

He had 2 Passats ready for to test drive when I arrived and when I said I wanted to compare to a Malibu. He went next door and we drove it. I too got my vehicle from Spitzer VW and I got to tell you that the comments of Caitlin H could not be anymore false. The salesman I had was VERY kind and let me drive 5 different cars before I finally found the right car. A 2005 VW Jetta, and he didn't even flinch when I told him I had problems with my credit in the past. He told me not to worry that they would take good care of me. Other dealers tried to push me into older more unsafe cars, but my guy really listened and let me pick my own car. I would STRONGLY recommend Spitzer VW to anyone who is looking to purchase a new or used car. Chris (my salesman) was the nicest and most honest salesperson I have come across in a long time. He told me what was going to happen every step of the way. He even showed me what every button did. I even saw him give the young kid who washed my new car money to put gas in it. He is the nicest and kindest person, he really takes an interest in his customers. EVERY customer! While I was waiting to sign loan papers an older couple came up and asked where the service dept. was, he excused himself and walked them to the service area introduced them to the service girl and then came back. He didn't just point like I have seen other people do. I have to ask if Caitlin was even in the dealership because what you said and what I experienced are two TOTALLY different things. read more

Spitzer VW is located 3 miles from our home. We were in the market for a 2014 Touareg TDI Lux which has a diesel engine. Cost $57-59,000. We wanted to test drive the diesel; they had none on the lot but would have one by the next day. Day 2, no call; day 3 , I called them; they would get back to me. Day 4, Spitzer called back. They still do not have a diesel to test drive. The salesman suggested that I find another VW dealer that has a diesel in stock then come back to them for the purchase. Day 5, we went to Brunswick VW 30 miles away. We did our test drive & purchased a $58,000 Touareg from Brunswick. Spitzer's loss. We'll drive the 30 miles for servicing even though Spitzer is only 3 miles away. read more

I will say I should have taken my car here first and leased the car here instead of Ganley Volkswagon in North Olmsted. At Spitzer they actually service the car and if you don't understand something explain it to you. Ganley service department treats you like a idiot and then charges you for a service like detailing but do not actually do and then charge you more money on top of it. Needless to say I will not be going back there but I will go back to Spitzer. Beware of dealership. Reserving a car and putting down a deposit means nothing. I dealt with Seth and put a deposit on a used VW Jetta. I live out of state and was planning on coming in to close the deal and buy the car 4 days later (on a Sautrday). I received a call a day later saying the car had been wrecked on it's way to detailing. I was told a grand story of the accident and damage. I was skeptical, so I had my wife call and inquire about the car... they sold it to someone else. read more

I'm the last person on earth to write positive things about car dealerships. To be honest, I've never had a very good experience with them, that was until about a year ago, when I went to Spitzer. Why am I writing this so late? Because, my husband and I just went to 4 dealerships yesterday, to find a second car, and it was one of the worst experiences I have had in years. We were not treated very well, lied to, and they attempted to bait and switch our agreement. It got me thinking about Spitzer, and the guy who sold us our SUV last year. We were looking for a one or two year old SUV, with low mileage, so we looked online, to see what was out there, when we came across Spitzer. We called, and the salesman answered the phone. His name was Daniel Walker. From that moment on, we were treated with honesty and respect, and he let us understand that we were in charge of buying our vehicle, not them. He guided us through all the positives, but the cool thing was, is he was honest about the negatives as well. We looked and test drove several different SUVs, and finally settled on one. My husband is kind of a tough negotiator, so he really put this guy through it, but we were surprised that he stayed so patient with us, and his boss lol, through the whole process. We got the SUV we wanted, the price we needed, and experience we deserved. After yesterday, we have decided to run back to Amherst to buy a car from Mr. Walker. I found a car on Cars.com that seemed to be a good deal. The salesman confirmed that it was a great car ready to drive home. I made a deposit on the car and drove 4.5 hours to come get it. When I got there to test drive it I found that it was so noisey on the road that you could barely hear each other talk! He said it was the fact that there were still snow tires on the car and they just needed rotation. But it sounded like a bent rim and when I inspected I found a rim that had been hit. They claimed that the car had not been in an accident, but the autobody repair shop receipts were in the glovebox for work on this car. The steering wheel was cockeyed and the car had a pull to the left. And the car had a serious fuel leak. Mind you this was for a two year old model with 65k miles with a 19.785 price tag. The sales guy told me that it had been through an rigorous inspection with their certified mechanics and that he was not aware of the problems, but he also told me that the noise of the car was the last customers #1 objection. I wasn't really in the market to buy a car however, I was getting concerned driving through hazardous conditions...not the best driving experience. My husband wanted to look at a certain certified Passat. I wasn't 100% sold but Zac worked with us to even put it up on a lift so we could check it out all over and underneath. Todd said he had something better and had another car come on in for us to look at it. My husband was skeptical because a newer car meant bigger price tag. Fast forward after test driving both cars, I fell in love with it. It had super low miles, safety and luxury features that I wasn't expecting. They gave me an excellent car with an excellent price tag and gave me an excellent amount for my trade with little negative equity rolling over. We weren't the easiest to work with but Zac continued to give us the best customer service possible. I am very appreciative of Zac, Todd, and Bryan at Spitzer Volkswagen! Thank you!!! read more
