Ohhh... Where to start. We reserved adjoining rooms. Our rooms were not adjoining. It was clear that the staff were just moving rooms around regardless of commitments they made to guests at booking. One of our rooms had hot water running to the toilet. I do not want to explain. One room had a 42" TV (these are large rooms with full kitchens). The other room (Same Size) had a 32" TV showing the mounting plate (I am sure the original TV went bad - they did not replace it with the same size). We just had the feeling they don't care for a fairly new resort. Not sure if I will go back. We may find an alternative location for our trip. read more

We stayed here about a year ago and it was so great that I'm thinking of going back this summer. Our room (which was pretty basic) was right on the lake, which had ducks and minnows and was perfect for my children who were 3 and 17 months. It was quaint and peaceful. We spent most of our time at the H2Ooooh water park which is right on the property down the road. Staying at Split Rock was perfect for our family. Just checked in and was placed in the Lodge. Spent $500 for 2 nights. Light is falling out of the ceiling.. looks like feces all over the mirror and walls.. paint is peeling.. and found hair in our shower! Absolutely disguising! Called manager and said sorry have to stay in that room (keep in mind this place looks not even 1/2 full and after researching plenty of rooms available). They did have a nice gentleman come and clean the room for us. However the state of this room is ridiculous for $500!! I wouldn't even pay $75/night to stay here! Will never come back here! I came here because my friends had a timeshare and invited us along for a few days. Overall the resort is nice but quite large. You pay a toll to get in, however if you save the ticket you can apply that towards the cost of something else within the resort. We stayed at the Westwood Villas at Split Rock which I reccomend. It's like a two level condo. It has everything you need - 2 1/2 baths, 2 bedrooms plus a pull out sofa bed, a kitchen, gas fireplace, etc. Kitchenwares and linens are available as well. The galleria is just right across the street so you can walk there. If you drive over and try to park, it's so busy you would spend just as much time walking from the parking lot as you would from the villas. It has a lot to offer - a pool, a waterpark, bowling, movie theater, several dining options, gift shop, and information about local area attractions. In terms of a place to stay, I would recommend it but I probably wouldn't come again, mostly because the Poconos is kind of a hike for me. In terms of service, meh. I feel like everyplace we tried to call or talk to someone we got mediocre service, or the phone would ring nonstop, or we wouldn't get any answers. I'm not saying service is awful, just that you would expect better from a tourist spot. Right? read more

Great spot, I've had no trouble in the 7 yrs I've been coming up here. Only issues: when you're in the villas, it's your duty to get new towels and who wants to do that in the cold? Originally I was going to give this place 4/5 stars. That is until the receipts that we obtained from paying a dollar to get in every day (24$ in all) were not being accepted as currency at the pizzeria anymore. That made me mad, because they have nerve charging a dollar for everytime you enter and then never informing you that you couldn't use the receipts for food anymore. shame. read more

Split Rock is staffed with friendly and considerate people. They were very accommodating. We arrives later in the day and it was also very cold so I'm sure we didn't get to talk to experience the beauty of the property that you would in the spring and summer months. With that being said the hotel is in desperate need of updating, and I'm not just saying that for the sake of it not looking modern. My shower head had rust on it, there was a weird stain on my shower curtain. A weird smell in the hallway that smelled like cleaning supplies and funk. And the furniture in the rooms weren't dirty or stained but it was ( in my personal ) so old it looked border line scary. read more

I have a timeshare in this place, so I have gone few times; never good experience.This is why I'm able to come up with a quite long list of their incompetence. First, please DO NOT buy TimeShare for this resort. They have terrible customer service, rooms are not clean (most disgusting carpets I've ever seen), AC do not work most of the time, and they demand too much from customers, but do not deliver. They also have BEDBUGS, and will make you seem like a liar if you complain about it. My husband got bit by bedbugs while staying in this resort, they wanted to make us believe it was a spider, and then lied to me about submitting a report so that they wouldn't be held responsible. They also lied about me actually wanting report when medical bill came (refused to pay miserable $526 for bedbugs bites, only imagine if you fall or something worse). They also won't respond for any incident that happened to you or your family while in there; and would never take responsibility for anything. They treat you nicely when you're about to buy, but when you do, they discriminate you and won't listen to you. My friend called about a reservation mistake, and because she got a accent, they told her to call later and claimed they could not understand her when they had spoken to her directly when she was only a potential buy and understood her very well. This is the worse place to go. I've never been there without leaving with a disappointment. BEDBUGS bites crossed the line! read more

Played at Split Rock south course. Horrible, not sure it can be called a golf course... fairways are filled with weeds, bunkers... looks like mini weed Forrest in sand. North course is much better, but south course is complete waste of money. Compared to north course, south course is maintained like a step child. Split rock overall has gone down in quality overall, need an SUV to reach the course as roads have huge potholes, even the entrance to golf course resembles traveling off road. Pathetic... I had the worst experience ever on 7/25/2015. I received a letter stating I won 1 of 4 prizes with my matching number received in the mail. Once I arrived the receptionist was extremely rude, first they wanted my drivers license and I was alright with that and next a major credit card for extra verification of who I was. Okay I got that part you wanted to see if I had funds, no problem. Next a gentleman name Steve in the vacation department came out after I was asked if I was married and my husband chose to wait in the lobby so I could attend the tour. Well that wasn't good enough, they refused my scheduled appointment that I drove an hour to attend. I understand the tour was to pitch a timeshare so I asked am not allowed to make a purchase on my own, I was told no. I had my 7 and 8 year old with me so I asked Steve can I still use the discount code Renauldo in marketing told me about, I was then told well he is not on shift and I'm not quite sure who he is so you'll have to go to the waterpark and inquire. Steve then said well perhaps If not Camel Beach is only 45 minutes away. As we walked away my 8 year old asked Mommy were they being racist because they weren't to nice to us. I said honey I think so. Well all wasn't lost after taking the long trip there, we did get a discount and the kids enjoyed 5 hours in the waterpark. It was very upsetting the way I was treated in the vacation office. It just left me questioning should I have not worn my fun Mommy outfit, perhaps I should have changed bags for the trip and carried my Coach and worn all my jewelry. I am not going to stoop to their level to prove my worth with material things. They lost a buyer by judging a book by its cover well in this case me. I used to love this place. I have been coming here for 20 years and am very disappointed to see what this new company, Bel Air, has done. They now are trying to charge for things that were always included like the outdoor pool. They stopped providing towels at the pool which they are now charging for btw. The gift shop is empty. They have a movie theater on premises which was always a nice thing especially for rainy days. They stopped having new movies. They have a random old movie every day at noon. What movie you ask? Don't know because they won't tell you in advance. The sheer stupidity of the situation is amazing. There are too many things to mention that have declined in the short time that this company has been operating. It's a shame. read more

I don't even know where start .. Let's start at beginning.. Run Run Run if your thinking of staying here .. we stayed Memorial weekend just passed .. Horror show .. We came in on Thursday.. Room had no hot water and the water park also .. I called front desk they said getting maintenance for room .. The water park I bought tickets and had asked specifically if the hot tub was working or I would just buy the observer ticket .. They said yes .. I got in and that hot tub was as cold as the Alaska Waters.. My husband said tell them I did they said boiler broke and won't be fix for awhile .. I was annoyed cause I asked that question before I bought ticket I don't like water I just like Jacuzzi.. So we go back to the hotel no hot water .. we had take cold showers .. next morning no hot water now I call yelling cause I'm pissed .. and the person says this first I heard no hot water .. I said don't insult my intelligence since I was dealing with her the whole time .. so now I get my car and drive back office cause I'm pissed .. to my surprise what do I say but screaming customers about their hot water not working, there door keys not working and they were told they had a restaurant in there and they were lied to when they made reservations. So again she said that she was going to send up maintenance to fix the issue.. let's all remember that the reason why I'm there is because my daughter has a competition there for gymnastics so I was stuck there for this competition unfortunately.. they had no lifeguards for the pool so there were two separate sets of people having sex in a pool in front of all the children thank God for my husband went up to them and basically told them to knock it off and they got out of the pool no securities around and no lifeguards around..When I called again to let them know what was going on they basically just Dismissed the situation.. I also let them know that they were gunshots going off Saturday morning in front of the complex again that was also dismissed. By the last day you can imagine I was fuming and I called screaming again no hot water my daughter is on gymnastics mats and definitely needs hot showers oh so yes I was very upset yelling on the phone and we were leaving at 11 and I had to drop the key off I wanted some sort of credit they told me that the only one that could credit me was Miriam but Miriam refused to get on the phone she is the manager.. I left messages for Miriam I called over and over again for Miriam she again refused and refused to call me back.. so When I went downstairs to drop my key off at the front desk five minutes away I was met by a police officer and three security guards because they called the cops on me and when I told the police officer what was going on and that I wanted a police report he immediately switch sides and was on my side and decided to make a police report against them.. my daughter had to watch two separate adults having sex in a pool and she's only 11 with no security and no lifeguards but they had the audacity to call the police on me for being upset about it.. this is definitely not over and I will do everything in my powers to make sure that everyone knows that this place is disgusting I will notify everyone that I need to.. if you had similar situations like this please add onto this review thank you I hope this helps you I wish I saw something like this because I definitely would've never I've rented from here for the weekends even if it was my daughters competition I would've had them go somewhere else.. I recently attended the Food and Wine Festival here. This was the second year I attended. I thought this year was much better than the last. The employees/vendors did a nice job of keeping up with the cleanliness of the entire area. Didn't see much if any trash laying around. There was a nice mix for food types. Aw Shucks corn on the cobb, crab pretzels, chicken fingers, fries, ice cream, etc. Closer to the winery tents, they had flavored salsa, dip, and cheese. Much of the wineries we saw were here last year. A few stuck out moreso than the rest. Unique flavors like chocolate cherries, pomegranate peach, jalopeno, etc. Really tasty. One winery had paint buckets that they used to keep the bottles of wine chilled. Creative. Peace Valley Winery had the longest line, BUT they gave all females who tasted their wine a rose afterwards. Stayed in the lodge one weekend as I was attending Cigarfest hosted in the Galleria. The rooms were expensive, not clean, the bathroom had damage, the TV was not of the last 2 decades, and the room had airflow issues. Some nice things were the walk in closet and the comfy cot, but I heard from my friends that the beds were awful. I spent the afternoon at the Pit Bar in the Galleria to watch a hockey game. The bartenders there were funny and gracious. Unfortunately only 1 tap, but the bottled beer selection was standard. There were not many TVs (1 in the bar, 2 in the outer seating area), but the bartenders were kind enough to deal with my hockey madness since no one else had requested a game yet. No food is served at the bar, but they had free spicy trail mix for everyone. Enjoyed my time here. Benchwarmer's sand bar by the lodge was equally good. I was here from the early evening until late at night. The outdoor area was lovely to enjoy a good smoke with some beers. When it wasn't too busy a waitress would come around taking orders, but as it got more packed you had to go to the bar. Even with a crowd, the bar was easy to get drinks from. It appears most drinks were canned rather than bottled, which is fine since the selection wasn't anything unique (Bud Light, Corona). The outdoor area closes at midnight, but the indoor section of Benchwarmer's is open until 2am. I would classify it as a dive sports bar. If you're not picky, then it's fine to hang out in. Overall everything is standard, except the rooms which I would say are sub-standard. Do yourself a favor and find some where else to stay. read more

Came here for a mini family (two teen girls ages 14) vacation. Love the concept of the resort as it really is a great family place. The pool, indoor water park, arcade, bowling alley and movie theater makes this resort a true family friendly place. But definitely geared to families with younger kids. Not much for teens to do. Food: We we're pleased with the selection, quality and price at the Split Rock Grille. Our server Rose was the best!! Accommodations: We stayed in Willowbrook and the rooms were clean and spacious enough for our needs. Water Park: A bit pricey. Charged $12 observers fee just to sit and watch which I thought was a little ridiculous. You need to bring your own towels which we didn't know so wound up spending another $50 at gift shop for towels. Gift Shop: Expensive like most are but this one was weak as far as selection went. Area: We are here off season so outdoor activity are light but that's ok, we knew that would be the case. I can see how this place would be an outdoor haven in peek season. Not much to choose from in the way of restaurants. So why the 2 stars? The resort staff really drove that rating! Check in is later than most (5pm) and we waited until 6 before getting our room as it wasn't "ready" yet. We got to the room and it was missing bedding and a fireplace. The one thing we wanted and the entire reason we choose Willowbrook was the fact it is advertised as having a fireplace In The units. They don't say in "select " units. I complained to the front desk but was told there was nothing they can do (with a put out attitude) but that the manager would call me the next day. I'm still waiting for the call!!! Seems silly But Customer service is key and Split Rock Resort just completely misses the mark. read more

The reviews for this place are pretty bad, but my friend & I found a groupon deal for this place for unbelievably cheap and we got what we expected and more. Plus the hotel feet, we paid around $280 for a SUITE with complete bedroom, kitchen (stove, fridge, microwave, dishwasher, oven). The bathroom was amazing with a heated whirlpool bathtub (small tho-regular bathtub size) Would def go again as we didn't even know there would be a full kitchen and didn't end up preparing groceries. The rec area is alright, mini golf is deserted. I was never a bowling fan and I didn't get to try tennis (costs money) or racquetball. There's a swim pool indoors which is always a plus. 1 star off for the waterpark which is NOT worth the money unless your kids are under 10 and you're looking for a cheaper waterpark in the area. read more

Where do I begin? My husband and I booked a weekend getaway for our Anniversary and ended up leaving a day early. Our stay started off with a very rude women who checked us in. We had an early check in, 1 pm. She abruptly informed us this is not a guarantee, before she even looking to see if our room was ready. When she finally did check, she sarcastically stated, "you're in luck, your room is ready." She then proceed to take 20 minutes to check us in. She provided no info on which restaurants were open (we had a meal package) or activities that were planned throughout the day. We found out the next day while waiting in line to check out there was a whole list of activities that we missed the day before because we were never informed or provided the activity schedule. We then proceed to our room, which was a mile and a half from the main lodge with no shuttle service available. We pulled up to our building #4, the soffit on the main hang over was coming out. It almost look like there was a fire and the building sustained fire damage. Our room had a total of 4 lights out (one in the hallway by front door, 2 in the bathroom and one on the porch), trash including a dirty tissue under the bed with ripped spring mattress, a stain on the couch, the shower head had so much soap scum I was not sure water could even get through and the TV's receptionist was so bad we could not even watch or make out the show. The bed was suppose to be a queen, it definitely was a double at the very best. Our building was basically just rooms and one soda machine. The movie theater noted it was open yet the doors were lock and no movie was playing. One pool was open the other closed, the jacuzzi was also closed (had cleaning supplies in the jacuzzi with no water and roped off). We decided to explore around and try to make the best of our stay. We took a ride around the property to find one restaurant was open and a cafe. We were so disgusted with the resort we asked the front desk staff if we could cancel? The same unpleasant receptionist noted, 48 cancellation policy and we could not cancel without paying. She did not even have the common decency to ask if there was a problem that would provoke us to ask about the cancellation policy. We stayed the night, had a nice breakfast thanks to the host (Tony). He was friendly, informative and very attentive. Honestly, he was the best part of our stay. After breakfast we had to go back to the main office to check in for our second day (had 2 separate reservation, because no one answered the phone when I was originally make reservations). I again asked about cancelling do to our horrible experience from beginning to end, the receptionist went in the back and asked the manager who agreed to cancel our second day. She cancelled our stay and never even apologized for our nightmare of a stay. The website site for Spilt Rock Resort is VERY deceiving. BelAir is taking over the resort, therefore the pictures all reflect the "new renovated" resort which NOTHING like the present resort. I would never recommend this resort to anyone. The building is dilapidated, run down and old. The staff are unfriendly and not helpfully at all. What a terrible Anniversary weekend thanks to Spilt Rock! read more

We did a timeshare trade for Split Rock through Interval International. Even during a chilly April week with two teenagers, we managed to find enough activities to keep us busy. The main hotel has an indoor pool and hot tub, a water park, restaurant, deli, arcade, bowling and movie theater. Our hotel room was located in the Willowbrook section which is about a mile away from the main hotel. You can either drive or take a shuttle between properties. I had read some reviews about the rooms being outdated, which might refer to the Westwood section or possibly the main hotel. I can't comment on the other properties, however our room in Willowbrook (we were in building five) was very nice and spacious with a full kitchen, gas fireplace, balcony and whirlpool tub. The staff at Split Rock was friendly and accommodating. The H2O water park is an extra charge, but we were given a book of coupons at check-in and it was $79 for 4 tickets. The water park is smaller than Kalahari, but perfect for younger kids. There is lots of hiking in the nearby Hickory Run State Park - we went to Hawks Falls and Boulder Field, which was a little tricky to find but worth the ride. Lake Harmony is a beautiful, woodsy area. I recommend Boulder View Pub for lunch or dinner, and Piggy's for breakfast. We definitely plan to return to Split Rock in the winter to check out the nearby ski resorts. read more

This place is so outdated. The room had a tube television. I don't I ever stayed in one with a tube television since I was a kid. The beds were so worn out that I felt the coils going into my back. The chair in the room had stains in it, ewww. The pool had such a strong odor of clorine that we all got headaches. The H2O indoor water park is small and the water looked dirty. We did not enjoy our stay and actually left early because we couldn't take it anymore. read more

Lots of entertaining activities for tweens- movie theater, basketball, ping pong, swimming, exercise room, arcade, bowling. Really disappointed with how incredibly noisy halls are as kids were using them as a recreational area with no parental supervision... Asked politely 3 times to please be quieter. No one answers phone at front desk or security. Think twice about coming. If the above doesn't bother you, then you'll enjoy it! read more

Maybe we came too early in the season but when we arrived it was a ghost town. Employees were more concerned about the prepping for the upcoming summer months than they were about guests staying there. The guest rooms in the visitors center were small and very out dated. I found mold in many areas of the bathroom and kitchen. The couches in the living area were straight out of the late 70's early 80's and their comfort levels matched that. This place is horrible and unsanitary there was dog poop all over my side entrance. On the day of my check out there was No hot water I called the front desk after calling multiple times I finally a maintenance man knocks on the door at 10:30. 30 min before check out to tell me I had to wait 45min to 1hr for the hot water because they used it all. When I called the front desk I explained what the maintenance worker told me and I told her I couldn't wait 45min to1hr because I had a 3hr drive back to the city and I had a commitment with my church I said am I suppose to leave the resort dirty with my wife and kids and her response was " you don't have any other choice either wait or leave dirty because there's nothing she can do" on top of that My daughter got hurt by a broken door handle. The water in the water park is freezing cold you would think in the winter the water would be warm but no the water is freezing and on top that the rooms I rented was suppose to be in the same building as the water park no they had me stay 2-3min drive to another building so that meant I had to take my kids out of frozen water with their hair wet to now walk to my car in 28dagree weather to drive to my room and customer service sucks they never get back to you they brush your off and give you the runaround for your money back. In the water park I paid cash for a 2 day tickets and I wasn't there not even 30 min I had to leave I ask foe my money back and they said I have to call someone during the week so they can reimburse me my money. When I called the number the lady said that they should of gave me the money back right then and there. So now I'm 3hrs away and they just took my money. We inherited a timeshare here and have stayed two times in two years. Basically this place is meh. Both times have been in March/April so I cannot speak to the summer or winter activities in the area but there just isn't that much going on here. The whole place seems severely understaffed too. Many of the workers are very nice and accommodating though. I've never stayed in the main building so I cannot speak to that. The Willowbrook apartments are decent. Nothing fancy but it gets the job done. I think the food is over priced and under rated. Better off going to AHarts market and buying your own food. I'm not sure we will be coming back here, it's good for a few days definitely not a week especially if you have little ones. I think they need some new management and more staff. It's too bad because this place has the potential to be awesome! read more

Property was sold, we own a time share here. NITEMARE!!! We were bumped out of our condo, into hotel room. No windows, that's right no window in our room. Air conditioner did not work. You now need to pay a daily activity fee for activities that don't exist. Many things are closed , or reserved for private group. Restaurants are buffet only. Make sure you keep your eyes on your kids at the pool because the life guards are on their phones. The man at the ice-cream pallor was visible sick!! Sweeting, coughing trouble breathing. Don't waste your time, save your money and go somewhere else!! read more

Water park was fun but small and not a huge amount to do for the little ones (toddler). Room was clean and decent bedding and comfortable beds. No long lines but we were there in a Tuesday. On 9/23/16 a 9/25/16 My husband and I stayed at Willowbrook in the Split Rock Resort. Our stay was fantastic. We enjoyed our 12th year anniversary at this resort. The suite had a great view of the golf course, and the entire place was well kept. Maintenance respond efficiently to our request. We enjoyed the pool, hot tub, bowling, tennis, bike riding at the Galleria. The buffet breakfast, and dinner was delicious. Thanks Split Rock! So every year the teachers at my school volunteer to take the students out for the weekend to some nearby New York resort for their Senior Trip. And annually this excursion usually reveals itself to have been a horrible idea by the time noon rolls around on Sunday. This time around the kids really did seem to enjoy themselves, as much a teenagers subconsciously horrified by the aspect that their whole lives will change can enjoy anything. Split Rock Resort is a new addition to the Discovery High School Senior Trip tradition at my school. There was a marked improvement from previous resorts in that there were things to do: bowling, arcade, basketball, pool, jacuzzi, danceroom for the party, movie theater, and of course the waterpark that comes complete with a surfing machine. I was impressed. We were placed in Split Rock's Garden Lodge, which is part of the original site according to their website. I had some issue initially, but it turned out to be quite peaceful compared to the low bustle of the Galleria accommodations. The drawback was that once the other teachers arrived, I had little access to more adult amenities such as a restaurant or a bar. The Lodge had both, but neither was open during the weekend. This brought up found memories of the saloon at the country themed resort we stayed at. Overall, the kids got more than their money's worth in my estimate. The rooms were nicer that any we've stayed at in the last four years of chaperoning. They didn't feel like hotel rooms. The exposed brick and antique furniture had a lot to do with that. We stayed at the Galleria for the wknd and the room/amenities were decent. We had a Groupon deal so was definitely worth it. Room was clean; nice spacious living room and good enough kitchen. I would never come back! Not worth it! Here is my breakdown Rooms: we stayed in the timeshare units @willowbrook 4105A. Not much to complain about the rooms except the pullout couch mattress is super springy and not comfortable at all. The kids feet were higher in the air then their heads. The kitchen was fully equipped with the bare essentials. The room is huge tho! However you have to drive to every activity/facility. We're in building 4 @ willowbrook that would be a long walk with 2 little kids. Town Center: Signs everywhere saying NO SMOKING however as you enter the town center you inhale a bunch of smoke from the smokers! No one seems to enforce that rule! Check in was ok they said they were going to call us when room was available and they never did we had to keep checking! However by the time we got our room key it was 5! Indoor pool: very spacious for sure however very dim in there and after seeing the outdoor pool conditions I'm assuming they like it on the sun side so I can't see how filthy it is. When my daughter and I were swimming we got handfuls of hair stuck in between our fingers. Hot tub states no kids in it however a lot of kids were in it! No one seems to enforce that rule as well. Split Rock Grill: horrible done waste your time! The food was so disgusting even the dessert! Salad dressing (Italian was so gross never in my life before tasted anything so bad) we did the Monday night buffet and the food was tasteless and not enough choices with only 1 option of a vegetable and the corn was disgusting! Only thing that tastes good was my cocktail from the bar that was on point! Everything you want to do cost extra money it's a bit overkill and absurd! When we checked in the woman mentioned to us about the potato race that happens on Wednesday's however never mentioned that we need to pu stuff between 11-12 ONLY on Tuesday's by the time we looked over activity paperwork it was Tuesday night and to late my kids were very upset! Outdoor pool: WOOOOOOOOW disgusting! 2 dead mice in filters and a living frog!!!!!!! Hair everywhere amongst other stuff floating around. The day we went swimming in the pool my daughter got so sick that night she was throwing up and had a high fever! Bottom of the pool filled with sand bc everyone goes from the lake to the pool and no outdoor shower or anywhere to rinse off. Lake Harmony: well all over the brochures and website they show fishing for kids! So we go and buy our kids fishing poles to bring on vacation! However once you reach the lake signs everywhere saying NO FISHING!!!!!!!! We walked over to Yeti Hut to inquire about the live bait for sale and inquire about fishing! Only place they tell u to fish is by a section of the lake FILLED with Lilly pads or WAIT GET THIS! If you rent a boat!!!!!!!! Very misleading and false advertising! My son was VERY upset as he was looking forward to fishing!!!!!!!!!!! The sand on the beach is very coarse on your feet! Volleyball bet in water but no balls to use or even state in brochure to bring your own. As my family and I sat their trying to enjoy the sun my kids got an anatomy lesson quickly when this little boy pulled his pants down IN the lake and pissed everywhere! Then the boys mother proceeded to wash her other infant child's dirty ass in the lake after she took his diaper off! THAT WAS IT FOR US! We packed up and left! Thirsty moose restaurant was closed for renovations why not start that in the winter! Lake Tavern was closed on Tuesday and that's when we headed out to eat to find out that thirsty moose was closed for renovations and Lake Tavern closed on Tuesday's. So we headed to Nicks Lake house restaurant outside of the east gate about a mile on the left. That was well worth it! Service and food was VERY enjoyable!!!!! Food came out real quick! We did the archery and miniature golf (which was extra money ofcourse) however my kids did enjoy those activities a lot. The arcade was a joke spent $40 in 5 minutes! Not a large selection of candy for the movie theater so bring your own if you could! Split Rock itself was cool to see however good luck getting right directions to get therefrom any of the staff! We had to find it basically ourselves! Everyone we asked gave us totally different directions and they were all wrong! Today we hit the water park! Fingers crossed it's good however no high expectations here! Hope this helps anyone thinking about traveling this way! read more

Terrible! The place smells like mildew, the arcade is overpriced, not fun, and a complete ripoff! The hotel is nasty and once again overpriced for what you get. More like a senior center than a vacation resort. Any place is better than this! read more

I ended up here due to Great Wolf Lodge's decision to price out the middle class in the winter (I will never go there after seeing what they decided to do). I was planning on having our daughters 2nd birthday gathering for a few family members and friends at the Great Wolf Lodge, as everyone always said the rates are 200-350 a night, oh no, not in the winter! Great Wolf Lodge's minimum room price was $559 a night for two people on a weekend. Split Rock Resort was our alternative, we paid $225 a night for 2 adults plus child including waterpark tickets. The "resort" hotel is a throwback to the 70's, however our rooms were clean and orderly. It could certainly use a major overhaul in regards to the general overall condition. There did appear to be a start of some construction in the lobby/indoor pool area. The waterpark is in excellent condition and clean. The movie theatre played a new movie (we saw the new Hunger Games: Mockingbird Part 1.) The arcade and bowling alley was also decent. Our daughter loved it and so did the friends/family that came with in regards to entertainment and things to do for a one night weekend trip. The biggest let down though, in my opinion, is the food was lackluster at best and not worth the money. Our room had a nice kitchenette and we had plenty of food with for our little party so it was no big deal to us, but if you don't know about this I could see this being a pain. Even with it's negatives, I would stay here again for the price we paid compared to the price Great Wolf Lodge expected. read more

Worst hotel I ever been to, and I have been to dirt cheap motels to five star hotels. My key card was not working, so I went to front desk and Lisa snapped at me because she thought I was using it wrong. Roof started leaking at 3 in the morning and we had to pack, wake up our 2 year old baby girl and relocate. Next morning a manager calls me, and no, not to apologize, he just wanted to sell some timeshare . Nerve of these people. read more

Went to the Water Park on a rainy day instead of the slopes. I'll couch my review by saying that dollar for dollar it's still got to be a better value than $650/night at Great Wolf Lodge -- who pays those prices?!?!?!?!? Having said that, there were far too many people for far too few amenities and far too few employees. 1. 1 employee running both the tube slides AND the raft slide. Waaaay inefficient. 2. Family raft slide - more rafts, quicker turnaround 3. 3 basketballs for water hoops - about 1,000 people - 3 basketballs? Really? 4. 1 hot tub not working. Each hot tub seats maybe 6. 1 out of order. You do the math. 5. Flowrider wave - huge long line. 6. Tons of unoccupied chairs with towels on them so you can't sit anywhere. Looks like the resort desperately needs an upgrade. Wait til the new places open nearby this Spring and go there instead. read more

H2O indoor water park-dirty! Especially while waiting On steps to ride tubes, you can see mud and hair hanging over edge of platform. It was gross to look at!
