This place harkens back to all of the cheesy, 1980's movies that have ever existed and I am so not mad about that. Based on the terrible reviews, I'm going to guess that I arrived after the re-model because it was a blast. My biggest complaint being that there exists very little wi-fi/internet connectivity. However, this is also what makes split rock a great place to connect with humans rather than electronics. I would have preferred to have been able to send a text to keep my group organized but we had to rely on word of mouth and real interaction. This was in part the goal of the trip so not a real problem. The staff was extremely helpful and respected guest's privacy. I never encountered a staff member in my room neither for cleaning or service. Safety was always maintained. The showerheads and water pressure could use improvements also. The resort offered food options which were readily available almost the whole day. Alcohol and mocktails/beverages are always available and resort-worthy!! Kitchen facilities in the main lodge suites were adequate but we opted to eat together and let the chefs cook. Food quality was simple and basic but eating wasnt as important as the fun that we were having. There are immaculate bathrooms everywhere, on site outdoor activities, offsite activities, an indoor waterpark with slides, small bowling alley with arcade, a movie theatre, great access to JackFrost and another mountain for skiing and a shuttle that goes around the whole property if you don't want to drive. All of this is available for a reasonable price that can be more affordable than the nearby big name competitors. Plenty to keep busy and not feel crowded. A strong 1980's meets the 1990's nostalgia that hit the sweet spot. read more

My family and I have been coming here for about 13 years. Boy has this place went downhill! Very limited activities, even when one is listed no one to facilitate the activity is there. Many members were given the incorrect information which caused lots of arguments with check in with the police had to be called from other parties. This place is a literal joke and a nightmare. The lady working the food court needs to be fired immediately. I have never seen worse service in my life. We came to order lunch and I asked for the lunch menu and and right away said I'm not giving you anything and when I asked why are u giving me attitude she had the audacity to tell me that my entire family is rude and starts pointing her finger at me and yelling at me. In what world do you ever yell at a customer and disrespect their family. When security came I told them what happened and told them the women needs training on how to talk to customers and the women starts raising at the top of her voice I don't training from shit from all of you and tells us to get out of this hotel. We are paying customers who is this women think she is to kick us out of the hotel. Avoid this women at all costs unless u want ur family to be disrespected, yelled and to received an enormous amount of terrible service . We reported this to the manager and the manager didn't even do anything didn't even try to accommodate us for receiving terrible service. Less "resort," more roach motel! My family and I stayed Memorial Day Weekend and the hotel was a ghost town. Now we know why. We checked in at 8:45pm on a Thursday and there was no place to get a bottle of water. The staff were unhelpful and the place was disgusting: pooling dirty water in the halls, defunct horror movie "arcade," strong smell of insecticide, filthy rooms, and out dated everything. Beware of the hidden fees: they claim to be pet friendly but charge a $210 cleaning fee. It's too bad because this used to be a neat place in the poconos. read more

We stayed at a junior suite in town center for 2 nights. I had seen some pretty bad reviews but we aren't overly picky about places and we enjoyed our time 1.5 years ago here. We stayed as part of the Fall package. We got one breakfast for our stay and one day of the waterpark. The check in process was easy and desk attendant was friendly. The hallway smelled like mold but the smell didn't leak into the room. The room was clean and comfortable. The window shade didn't work so it got very bright in the morning. We used the pool. It was nice. There were never more than 3 towels. The young woman who ran the bowling alley/arcade/movie theater was so friendly. The free breakfast "buffet" was really lacking. A couple unpackaged muffins and danish. There were no labels of what food was (mostly tricky with cheeses and yogurts) and could have used a hot cereal or some bagels as choices. The most disappointing had to be the fact the waterpark was closed the day we were given to Go there. It wasn't scheduled to open until 4 and we waited all day to go and came to locked doors only to be told there is a maintenance issue and it wouldn't be opening. Not even given any sort of compensation or refund when this was literally part of our price. We were giving the place another try based on the waterpark and it let us down. Avoid at all cost. Everything for the kids was either closed or broken. The entire property is FILTHY! Staff (barring the kind elder gentleman from Hungary) are rude and unhelpful. The smallest and easiest things that could make this place enjoyable are overlooked and not one employee gives a damn. No water in the entire hotel for almost a day. Waterpark closed when they were to be open. Restaurants closed during "open" hours. Convenience store is something out of a post-apocalypse movie. Pair this with absurd prices. NEVER AGAIN! Today, I went to an indoor water park. Unfortunately, only 2 out of the 3 slides were open, so my whole family couldn't go on the one we wanted. However, the park had tubes for two people for the other two slides, so we still had some fun. When we went to the wave pool, we found out it wasn't working. The man working there said he could turn it on, but wouldn't be able to turn it off. The only enjoyable activity was surfing and boogie boarding. In room hot tub has to be shut off outside by a fuse box... in the middle of winter... water runs brown, bed so uncomfortable... here for a week with a 1/3 stocked kitchen supplies.... No soap in any of the 3 rooms we booked. Tried to get soap from the maid today and she didn't speak English and only had body lotion and shampoo to refill the bathrooms with. I have never stayed in a resort where you can't get soap and no one answers the phones. Can't get the front seat to answer, can't get anyone to answer for that fact. Called the number in the rooms phone and it goes to a busy signal. Call on my cell phone and they don't answer at all. Will never come back here. Went to the water park. Paid full price to get in then got told they closed 2 of the 3 slides. So only 1 slide open. What a waste of time and money. Can't wait to go home so I can have soap. My partner and I went to this establishment for Valentine's Day just for a long weekend away and honestly, our stay was not the best. We got the Valentine's package where they would decorate our room and what not but we got a plate of cheese which was all warm probably was not even safe to eat and got a bottle of wine we could not even open. Then our door to our room would not lock called multiple times about it no one came to fix it. We called multiple times for a shuttle to get us to the main town center since it was snowing ,they offered that to us, but never came ever when we requested one. Food was okay but anyone we spoke to was not very polite. Water in our room was cold for half of our stay until it was finally fixed after multiple phone calls. And we decided after our stay to call and explain to the staff what our concerns were so maybe they could be fixed in coming forth time. But apparently managers are only there on weekends so to talk to someone it is in a limited time frame. It has been over 2 weeks since we have left the resort to get some answers since they offered a partial refund but are also accusing us of lying since there is no documentation written down on their end that we asked or called a staff member to notify them about any of the statements above. And the guests that were staying next to us found mice which made us even more uncomfortable and all the so called manager could say was well it's cold out and they have no other place to go... so overall it wasn't a completely bad trip but just to simply talk to someone and possibly get something in return is like pulling teeth! read more

We were very disappointed with the wifi, food and tv viewing services. We purchased the Thanksgiving meal at over $50 per person which was not worth it. The meal wasn't a traditional Thanksgiving meal with missing dressing, candied yams, greens and other items. 80% of the meal couldn't be eaten due to it being tough and store-bought. First night, tv services didn't work but maintenance came right away. However, it was unstable. Second, wifi connection was poor or you couldn't no connect at all including the network being insecure. The last major concerns were getting in and out of the shower due the high step getting into the shower *tripping and fall hazard). This would be very challenging to an individual with hip problems lifting their leg high. The high marks only are the maintenance response time and the room's appearance. The guest check-in reps were also very friendly.. Other than that, stay away and most importantly, don't eat the restaurant food...it's not worth it. read more

There's a daily fire alarm that requires you to exit because they haven't fixed the vents. They randomly turn off the water with no notice. Everything is crumbling and walls are so thin. Speaking only to the Golf Experience. So, I am a relatively new golfer and so is my 10 year old son. We have been residents of split rock for years and normally only take advantage of skiing in the winter. Big mistake on my part. Since taking up golf, I have come to realize how much more relaxed Split Rock is than my home course in Delaware County. For new player, this is great as I do not feel rushed or pressed when playing. Last time I played on the South 9 and it was amazing. I love how the holes are woven between the trees and the surrounding houses while also overlooking the Pocono Mountains. Both my son and I had a great time and will be playing again later this month. Staff was great and very courteous. I am also glad to see that they are offering lessons and clinics in the summer at prices that are more reasonable than my home club. Maybe this is not the most challenging course, but you also don't feel like a foursome behind you is breathing down your neck.... As for Split Rock Resorts, they are currently threatening to turn off all the water to their residents due to a dispute they brought on themselves. Poorly managed and poor treatment to their residents. They had several boil water alerts in 2023-2024 and yet threaten to turn off water because they don't pay their bills. read more

We requested a lake view room in The Lodge. The desk clerk who registered us insisted that our room had a lake view. It did not. It faced the parking lot. We asked if the hotel was ADA compliant. Both the woman who registered us and the woman who took my phone reservation (after nine calls) insisted the hotel was ADA compliant. It is not: There is no elevator and no way for a disabled person to use the stairs -- or the ramp, which leads to a locked door with no punch button. We asked and paid for a nonsmoking room. Every guest on our floor was smoking pot in their rooms. One gentleman seated by the (non working) indoor pool lit up a blunt. Our room flooded during a heavy downpour and the front desk repeatedly redirected our calls to VM while torrents of water poured in from windows, walls, the ceiling and from under the door of the adjoining room. It took an hour to check in because of an insufficient number of staff at the front desk at Town Center, which is a quarter mile away from The Lodge. The Lodge is dark, dank, moldy, foul smelling and unstaffed. We traveled to Split Rock to celebrate our thirtieth wedding anniversary. This was not what we expected. This is a terrible and unsafe place run by horrible people. We counted numerous fire code and accessibility violations. You're better off (and safer) staying home. UPDATE: On our way out the door we were assured that we had not been charged for the flooded room. That was a lie. Now we must waste more time trying to obtain a refund. Do not stay here under any circumstances. read more

Our family and friends were so excited to come to Split Rock Resort for my sons 13 birthday. Upon arrival the check in desk to 45 min . I reserved 2 rooms adjoins for my sister and I. The 2 rooms were at either end of the hall. Couldn't have been father apart. The arcade was not working. The ice machines in the whole building we not working. I ordered balloons to be put in each room upon arrival and they weren't there. The rooms are so smelling and outdated I wish I would have brought lysol. It was so disappointing. HORRIFIC, BLOODY CRIME SCENE. DO NOT STAY HERE! It was the worst experience of my life. First of all, we were contacted and said that you overbooked for the weekend and you were going to give us a "complimentary upgrade" -We weren't allowed to check in until four which was preposterous. No other hotel or resort would do that. This led to HOURS of waiting to be checked in which ate into our vacation. -We dropped our bags off in the room (we were told we would have two queen beds but it was full size bed -50 percent of the furniture was just flat out broken -we returned at 11 pm and noticed that the alarm to the willowbrook building two went off all night long -the overhead fans didn't work -there were stains EVERYWHERE and non of the surfaces had been cleaned -there was no internet so we couldn't watch any tv -the furniture reeked of cigarette smoke -we weren't given any bath towels, only two hand towels and a bathmat towel -the room hadn't been clean -finally, we noticed the phone in the room was COVERED IN BLOOD -i went to inform the front desk and i was offered "a complimentary breakfast"...which we declined and then were offered only a 25 percent refund. - we were told we could only get the 25 percent refund because the higher-up manager wasn't on site this weekend...the weekend we were told was the busiest weekend of the year. -Finally they wouldn't offer us a refund as they said they now have no record of us staying there and that "blood" was an exaggeration. I came here to get out of the city with my girls and enjoy nature. What I got in return is more stress. It was so difficult trying to navigate around the place they give you a map what is un readable. The "lake" where you can "swim" is a big hole in the ground that looks nasty. The outside pool has more grass and other stuff in it than those little pools you step in before you get into your pool. The inside pool was better, but has missing ceiling tiles... the entire place is old looking dark and dingy... Our room was missing all kinds of things and getting help was unheard of. I felt it was easier to drive 30+mins to Walmart to get what we needed. If we didn't drive so far to get here and paid as much as I did we would have gone home. I'm to annoyed to post pictures, but say your money and go somewhere ANYWHERE else. You will talk me. read more

horrible experience!!!!! there was no coffee maker and more importantly there was no blow dryer and no phone in the room either I finally reached the main lodge and they told me they would send a blowdryer and a coffee maker to my room to no avail. The room was full of bugs witch I killed all night. The website shows a lake front resort ,which when i got there they had booked me in a lodge with no lake view so I complained and they put me in another lodge 1 mile away and there was no receptionist at allll, I kept driving up to the other lodge for my concerns. Ridiculous resort. I wound up leaving the following morning. I complained to the manager Kimberly and she was nasty and she did not even reimburse me for the time I left. Part 2 - the utensils were clean however the pans that we were going to need to use still had food residue from I don't know when. The couch in the living room was a pull-out bed and it was squeaky and felt broken. The sofa chair had stains on it. We checked out the bedroom and the bed was extremely uncomfortable as I was sitting on literal Springs which made me feel that this bed was the cheapest bed they could find or it was extremely old. The bedding felt very wet from all the humidity that was in that room. I had to leave the resort to go out to the store to get Febreze and cleaner and I also went to find some type of blankets that I couldn't find at any store that was near. Needless to say we had to use our clothes as pillow covers, sheet covers, and blankets in order for us to try to sleep comfortably. Me and my husband did not sleep for the two nights that we spent there. We also thought of sleeping on the floor at that point but I have killed multiple baby spiders and wasn't chancing sleeping with bugs. Also the musty smell of the carpet was a huge turnoff. In the meantime, the other part of my family got their room at about 8:30 at night. That was over 4 hours after the check-in time. Their room was just as bad as ours. All we can do was make the best of what we try to make a decent family trip. The next morning we get up and go to the town center to go have breakfast to use our comp passes. When we get up to the host, he advised us that there is not much breakfast because the grill broke. He let us take a look to see what's there and we had children with us and they were hungry so we let them eat but they took all of our passes. So our free breakfast was basically no breakfast at all. So, thank you for that. After breakfast we went to the water park which was decent. As a matter of fact I will say that was the best part of our whole stay there. Everything was working except for two out of the three slides and all that matter to us at that point, was the kids having fun. We then all went to the indoor pool. After being in the pool for about 10 minutes, my eyes were burning and my skin felt funny from the chlorine. So I asked a few of my family members and they agreed. So we went back to the water park. Later on we went back to the room to shower and change and then we took the children to the arcade in Bowling Center. We let them have fun for about an hour and then we did a bowling game. There were a few games that were not working but that was to be expected as you'd find that anywhere. However, there was one game that a man and his child were playing and however they had to play the game affected the balance on the game itself that it fell and hit the man in his arm. That was unsafe. But I did see the staff get right on it to try to resolve the problem which was good. We went back to the room and decided since we had no luck with food there we would make our own dinner. The kitchen is very old and the pans they provided to us we're not great, so it was a hassle to make dinner that night and to make breakfast the next morning. When it was time to leave I had brought something to the car and came back to the front entrance of my building where I accidentally forgot to bring the key with me to get back in. Four members of the staff were standing outside getting into their vehicle to be taken to their place of work on the grounds. I waved to them to help me get in the building and they all looked at me and the driver drove off. That was extremely rude. Once again we made the best of what we could. The children were mostly happy. We had to call it an adventure for the books. I will say I would not recommend coming here because of the experience that my family went through I could only imagine what happened with other people not only hearing complaints in the lobby but what could happen in the future. The staff was not very helpful and a few had barely any knowledge of what was going on in their own place of work. Some of the staff didn't even want to be able to help and they tried to answer the least amount as possible to get us to leave. Also after all that we noticed that no one was in the Next Room joined to us on either side of the hallway. That was not okay after all the work that we tried to put in to have our rooms joined. The same evening that we arrived, we tried to get a refund for everything that was going on and they told us unfortunately that would be something that would never happen. Where to start????? This place was a nightmare. Me, my husband, and 2 children checked in on june 29, 2024, mind you check in started at 4 but we had arrived early (1:30pm) where we were told that they would expedite our room to be ready. Well even at 4:40 we still had no answer on when the room would be done. So we go and speak to a manager who was very rude and inconsiderate and just had an attitude, she finally after words were had said that our room would be ready in 5 min. We got our key got to our room and mind you we had a full kitchen. They gave us 2 towels, no dish soap, no pans for the oven, no blankets. so we called the front desk they said our stuff would arrive shortly. WELL now jump to the following day on sunday, we had to call the office over 10 times to try and get the simple stuff such as towels and blankets. Finally at midnight they sent us our stuff. It went this way the entire week we stayed there. We never received soap for dishes, they were so unprepared for the 4th of july rush. But reading the reviews i see this is a common thing. The water park only had 1 working slide, they gave us free passes for the buffet breakfast (the day we went they closed it for the day so no breakfast for us). The pool wasnt supposed to close until 10pm and the game room was supposed to close at 11. But twice we got kicked out of the pool at 8pm, and then another day we took our son to the arcade at 8pm and they kicked us out saying it was closing at 8:30...To make matters worse we went there cause we have a timeshare there and they kept saying "oh im so sorry we will get your time share kit to you right away" ( which was towels, soap, paper towels, toilet paper, etc....) we were there for a week and never received it, and we asked for it everyday!!!!!!! We talked to alot of people while we were there and we did not meet one person staying there that had a good experience. Something needs to change or happen, be cause this place is going down hill FAST. read more

Split Rock Resort is poorly managed and in bad shape. Where to start...Driving in there was nice scenery but then there potholes every where. Next, at check in there were random fees for things. We had to pay an occupancy fee for having more than two people in a room, even though the other people were a three year old and five month old. There was also an amenities fee for amenities that were garbage. When you get to the unit it was clearly not cleaned by anyone who cares. There was gross food stuff left in the sink, dirty foot prints on the tile which made sticky noises when you walked. The coach was maybe new when it was originally built and we could see/feel the wooden frame(20 plus years old and not of high quality). Also, from walking across the carpet in your room your feet got a black grime on them. The refrigerator was missing pieces and water and ice pooled up inside. Another frustration was that mini golf was not available because the greens had not been put down yet, even though it was the middle of June. When we called to ask about mini golf, the desk did not know it was unavailable, so we took our family out only to find it was closed. Also, beware hours listed for many amenities online are not accurate. In the gym, there were no towels or way to clean off equipment, bathroom in gym has no soap or towels to wash hands. The front desk says it covers 24/7 but regularly would not have anyone available to answer the phone or in person. The place was an absolute dump! Then, upon check out there was a $70, per person per day maintenance fee which for our family ended us costing us an extra $2,000. Run away from this place. Horrible! We were extremely disappointed as last year we were apprised of all of the planned renovations that would be taking place, even touring a new model unit. It appears that absolutely nothing has been done since, and that our annual maintenance fee is going to waste. 1. Having reserved our stay early, we went straight to the Willowbrook building 3, as we were told last year that there would be on-site check-ins. Of course there was not, so we proceeded to the Town Center. 2. We were assigned to unit 3115A, and upon our return to building 3, I had to use a very rickety luggage rack to move our luggage to our accommodation. 3. Upon opening our room door and entering, we were immediately hit by the strong smell of natural gas. 4. I attempted to call the front desk, however there was no dial tone on either telephone - in fact, the phone in the bedroom did not even have a phone cord connecting it to the wall jack. 5. I attempted to locate the phone number to the front desk to call on my cell phone, and had to pull up an email to find the number as there was no room or resort information available in the room. 6. During this time, we noticed that the kitchen was very ill equipped - no tea kettle, no dishcloths, no dish towels, no paper towels, no dish detergent, no ice trays in the refrigerator/freezer, only one pot, no pans, no microwave cover, no microwavable cookware. 7. We returned to the Town Center to report the gas odor and other deficiencies, and requested to be reassigned to a different room. Kimberly, the desk manager, told us the resort was fully booked and she did not have any available units. She then went to the back to call maintenance, and told us that they were heading right away to check out the room. We waited at the Town Center, and after about 20 minutes, Kimberly told us that maintenance said there is nothing to worry about, and to "open the doors to allow the smell to dissipate." 8. We reminded Kimberly of the kitchen deficiencies. and she said she would have an "owner's kit" sent over within 20 minutes. 9. We went to dinner, and returned to the room to find the smell was just as strong as it was when we left, and that the kitchen supplies were not delivered. 10. We inspected the rest of the room and found: leak stains on the ceiling, old corroded drains in the kitchen sink, dirty streaks under the tub faucet, chunks of dirt or animal droppings on the carpet near the back door, and most disgustingly, apparent animal droppings on the bed sheet and night stand! My wife and I made the decision to not stay even one night, and used an even more rickety luggage cart to repack our car and return home. We have been owners for many years, and have faithfully paid our yearly maintenance fees without fail, even though they have increased dramatically with nothing to show for it. The institution of the $20/day resort fee is outrageous considering the dearth of available amenities. read more

Waiting for the big fall since the big chill is over... This place will likely never recover as no one puts money into the business to improve... Shame because it couldve been 2nd only to Kalahari, Great Wolf and Camelback... 4th place aint bad, but now itz almost dead last!!! Same raggedy events yearly. Cant even repair the golf course nor the putt putt course so they painted the greens, black!!! Great idea... Not to mention the lake has very little harmony as its almost an under & over water forest!!! Water park is always broken while one slide works, at best!!! I honestly do not even know where to start. $600 for 3 nights. A $300 hold on your card! For that money as a "resort" all you can do with kids is the pool, oh and they had the "movies" for free the days we were there. The billiard room is a HEALTH HAZARD!!!! My husband and I were told it was open, so we went to check it out, as soon as we went up the stairs the smell of MOLD was so strong!!! That whole area and the "gym" should be closed to ANYONE!! The "gym" was dirty, stinky and bolts laying around. They are doing renovations I understand, but to say these amenities are free and open is not proper! The game room you have to pay more for, the bowling you pay more for, which is fine but for $200 a night for what? A pool and a 70's outdated movie theater?? The first room I was in NOTHING WORKED, and the room was DIRTY!!! I got the room changed and that room was much better. Everything leaked in my new changed room but I'm pretty sure they are aware of that lol NOT worth $200 a night, when NO ONE CAME to make the bed or change the garbage or even give clean towels!!! NOT one time! The "food court" as they call it is horrendous. Eat outside period!!! Staff? no one cared not one person, only the one taking your temperature when you walk into the main building. When I did advise a staff member about the horrendous smell in the billiard he just couldn't be bothered. I suggest you 1. stay some where else and get a day pass for the water park. or 2. just come back when its FULLY RENOVATED! You get no email about your check out. We went there 2 pm We wait 3 hour for our rooms. And they showing on pictures. Don't believe it. It's noting do here. And no management. They taking guests outside for small waterpark All low quality guests. And hotel customers use same waterpark. It's not fare for they own customers. Never coming back. Not recommended. If I could give less than one star I would. The room is dated, the staff is not helpful the hallway outside of my room smells like hot nachos and the room itself leaves much to be desired. WORST of all I just asked the front desk where I could purchase BOTTLED WATER and was told the vending machines were out of order and I would have to drive 3.5 miles to a local Wawa (its 2:15AM & 25 degrees outside!) I will definitely splurge on a REAL RESORT next time No idea how you can claim to be a resort and not have bottled water accessible on every floor or at least offer a complimentary one to someone looking at 2:15AM! read more

I was here for girls weekend for the third time and tbh its a lot of fun. It's hard to argue around the fact that the facility needs work, but I have seen updates in the suites and common areas since the last time I was there and can see they are improving it. My room at the Willowbrook was clean and included a jacuzzi, mini kitchen, and a roku tv. (though coffee was decaf and no filters were included with the coffee maker). There were plenty of fun things to do including wine-fest 2024, kayaking, and bowling to name a few. Food and activities are surprisingly cost effective. read more
