Inside the Crossroads Hotel is XR Cafe part of 2 other venues. Iced Salted Maple Latte was served, one size sold. Upon first sip I received a satisfying taste but as continuous consumption all I tasted was bitterness.

This space is so inviting and beautiful. It's well designed and a quiet place to catch up with friends or work a bit on a weekday. They serve breakfast until 11 on weekdays and 2pm on the weekends. I enjoyed an iced caramel latte and their Hong Kong French Toast, which was one of the best breakfasts I've had in a long time. Service was personalized and fast, and our barista was so kind.

This is the lobby bar restaurant in the Crossroads Hotel. We stopped in around 3:00 and were between lunch menu and dinner menu so our options were very limited. Even with limited food options our meal was delicious. We had the Italian chop salad and the Gabagool sandwich. Service was fast and friendly. Our cocktails were all tasty. We had an espresso martini, Negroni, Saffron spritzer and a holiday sour ( can't remember the name). The vibe and ambience is urban sophistication. Loved the seat groupings.

Fantastic, hip restaurant! Atmosphere has a cool, yet very comfortable industrial chic vibe. Cool couches and work stations make this place perfect for chilling with friends or dining solo while working. The BEC sandwich is delicious! Coffee is very good and the servers are very friendly and conscientious.

I wasn't excited by the small-plate menu (I didn't want a meal, since I had dinner plans later). The Gustav sour was good, although there wasn't very much of it given the size of the ice cube. I enjoyed the grilled peppers more than I thought I would--a few more chips would have been nice. Felt neglected by the wait staff.

XR Café is a bar and lounge located in the lobby of the Crossroads Hotel.  To me, the ambiance/atmosphere is the clear selling point here.  The tall exposed ceilings contribute to what is already a large open space while the layout and separate seating areas promote a more intimate setting.  Clusters of exposed lightbulbs illuminate the centrally located island bar... Of the dozen or so house and classic cocktails, I ordered the "Pony's New Trick" {Bombay Bramble, Italicus Bergamot Liqueur, Peychaud's, Lemon, Simple, Prosecco} for $14.  It was good. Overall, great spot to grab a drink with a friend or kick off your night out.

I stayed in this hotel when I was in town and since I got in late I wanted a simple dinner. The staff said the hotel bar had good food and drinks so I went here and it was great! The servers were really nice. I got a cocktail that was amazing and a pizza with fig jam and turkey sausage, also great. I even went back the next day to get a coffee since they have lots of coffee drinks and that was great too. Overall the bar fits the ambiance of the hotel kind of like refurbished factory with exposed bricks. There's lots of couches and chairs around the bar that you can sit at as well as bar stools of course. When I was there at night it was a Monday and some locals 20-30 year olds were coming by also who knew the bartenders. I would definitely come back if I lived in KC or if I visit again.

This place is the best breakfast in town and the staff is amazing. It's also great for just a cup of coffee or even a late night date spot.

Located inside the Crossroads Hotel, a wonderful little bar and restaurant situated immediately to your left as you enter. Plenty of comfortable seating, friendly servers, and a full bar. They specialize mostly in wood fired pizzas, with some appetizers. I opted for the primavera pizza, and shared the margarita and sausage that my girlfriends ordered. Pizza was delicious!!! Thin, crunchy, full of flavors from the sauce and fresh ingredients. I also tried an old fashion, which was equally marvelous.

I really enjoy the open concept of XR Café. It gets a lot of business. Although there's a hotel attached to it people come to hang out for cocktails or to eat at the Italian restaurant that's inside. The drinks are good and the bartenders are friendly. You have to option to sit at the bar or in the lounge area. The atmosphere is relaxing and it's quite dim. I will definitely return.

Went here with my love. She had never been and we wanted a place to talk, eat and lounge around. Saw this on Yelp. The vibe of this place gives you a feel like you aren't in KC. It's so chill and they even have a live band. Drinks are fairly price and I really enjoyed the French Cider. It has a nice aroma cinnamon and apple. We also enjoyed a Margherita Pizza. The portion is huge and easy to share with. Since it was just us, we had to take some home. This place was enjoyable and pretty good for a date or a hangout. They also have small board games, billard/pool table, and shuffleboard table.

Great service and nice ambiance, but the worst fried pickles I've ever had in my entire life. 0/10 fried pickles. Would not recommend.

That changed yesterday, when Diana Condori, the bar manager, was named a 2026 James Beard Outstanding Professional in Cocktail Service semifinalist. As we love supporting restaurants and bars that receive that kind of recognition, my wife and I headed to Fern Bar that evening. I was especially curious what exactly a "sugarcane and agave bar" meant. We arrived around 5:30pm and found only a handful of guests inside. After congratulating the bartender who first served us, he mentioned that Diana was working that night and would stop by to meet us. During our conversation, Diana shared that she didn't even know she had been nominated. She woke up Tuesday to a call from owner Bryan Arri, who said he had big news and was coming over. Her first thought was that something terrible had happened--like the bar had burned down. Instead, he showed up with coffee and told her she was a James Beard honoree. Diana is originally from Bolivia and has lived in Kansas City most of her life, with the exception of time spent in San Francisco during the pandemic. She further refined her cocktail craft through local pop-ups in Kansas City under the name Condor's Cove. When Bryan was preparing to open Fern Bar, he reached out to bring her onto the team. The printed cocktail menu immediately reminded me of the Monarch and the Mercury Room--not surprising given Bryan's background at Manifesto and the Monarch. Thoughtful, intentional, and clearly designed for people who appreciate serious cocktails. We planned on having one or two drinks but ended up staying for three, thanks to an outstanding lineup and a memorable conversation with Diana. We tasted: * No Fly Zone - Rum, agave, pineapple foam * Mr. Collage - Smooth, elegant, egg-white cocktail * Three Negroni Lunch - Bitter, boozy, and beautifully balanced * Pendergast No. 4 - Complex and spirit-driven * It's Bananas - Banana liqueur with bright tropical notes * Off the Rails - Creative and well-executed rum/agave cocktail One downside of many cocktail-forward bars is the lack of food, but Fern Bar offers two varieties of mini burritos for $4--just enough protein to keep things balanced while indulging. Great concept, exceptional service, and truly memorable drinks. Check it out--and be sure to say hello to Diana.

It's a smaller, simpler cocktail menu and the prices are very fair compared to other cocktail spots. I tried the Caipirinha (pineapple) and the Negroni sour. Both were good. My favorite between the two was the Negroni. It had a pretty color and wasn't too sour or strong. I'd def recommend it and get it again. Definitely stop in and check out this cute spot in Shawnee.

When you arrive there is parallel parking available outside the bar. When you walk in you'll feel like your bright, vibrant, and feels incredibly welcoming. Also, they have some really fun drinks as well that have been thoughtfully put together. We ended up sitting at the bar and I started with the Reformed Porn Star (vanilla vodka, bronson's tropical milk punch, passion fruit, Prosecco, citric acid and popping boba) which was by far my favorite drink and felt like I could have drank a couple more of these. Second I tried the Neo Cosmo (white rum, strawberry, cacao, coconut, rose hip, lime, bubble) which was good and was a fun drink with an ice cream shaped cup and a bubble on the top (meant to look like an ice cream cone). If you are in the area, this bar is a must try, the bartenders were awesome and took good care of us.
