Today I came to Spoleti to get a very simple hair cut. I'm not someone who keeps up with my hair or goes to fancy hair salons. I'm usually going to a Supercuts. However I just got a new job and wanted to get a nice hair cut before I started. When I came into the salon the place looks very nice and welcoming. I was greeted right away by the receptionist and another stylist also was very cheerful. I was offered a drink and asked to wait. Soon my stylist, Jace, came over and greeted me. He was very professional in his introduction and led me to the chair. He asked some questions about what I wanted and I told him I didn't know a lot about hair and I think I wanted it near my shoulders. He asked me some questions about layers and textures to which I told him I didn't really know. Instead of suggesting anything he just stayed quiet till I eventually said I guess not. After he started cutting my hair I realized he wasn't really engaging in conversation so I tried to start one by mentioning I was getting my haircut for a new job. He didn't say anything back and just continued to cut my hair. The entire hour appointment the only things he said were to turn my head. This was the most boring and awkward hair cut I've ever had. By the end I was so done with the salon I really just wanted to leave and could care less if my hair looked nice or not. I did feel cared about and welcomed at the beginning but by the end i did not feel that way. I will say however that every other stylist was talking to their clients and the general mood was very relaxing and nice. I think I just had a bad experience. It is frustrating to spend more money than I normally do and I feel I got a worst experience. read more

I hate to leave a low rating review but I think it's fair to share my experience to inform others. For reference, I'm new to Austin and was in search for a good salon for balayage and layer hair cut. If you are looking to color your hair or want a simple hair cut, maybe this is the place for you. I've had balayage done here which was good, so I returned for a hair cut that I regret so badly. I had grown out my hair and was looking to slightly trim my ends and face framing layers, which turned out to be an absolute disaster. There is half the amount of hair left on my head after two horrible cuts; the initial hair cut by the owner and the second with someone else for correction, which they also charged me for. I went in again so they can fix the short, blunt bangs (a big chunk of my hair was cut off on the side I part) which was meant to be face framing layers (not even close). The owner wasn't available during my schedule to fix the hair so I went to someone else at Spoleti. After the correction, I had uneven, non-blended-bold, choppy layers and half my hair was gone, completely thinned out. I had to pay someone else at another salon (3rd haircut) to fix the mess. Spoleti Salon refunded me for the correction and 1/4 of the full price I paid for initially, no full refund. I had to pay someone again full price to fix my hair (the other salon did the best they could with the hot mess they were working with). I'm bitter that I lost money for hair I hate, which is shorter than I like and thinned out. I added 1 additional star because the receptionist/management worked with me to get a partial refund. Marissa is hands-down the best stylist I have ever been to in my life. Her work is professional and excellent. She takes her time to make sure she's giving you exactly what you asked for. She checks in after. And she's wonderful the entire time you're sitting in her chair. Honest, friendly, deep, and funny. She gives great advice, she's relatable, and damn she does a great job making you look good on the outside while you get healed on the inside. I'm so glad I finally found my stylist for life! Yay Marissa! Regarding the salon, it has a lovely calming decor and the receptionist Nikki is really friendly and accommodating. Five stars all around. Hi, I'm adding onto this a few months later. Marissa highlighted and cut my hair again. She added another dimension of contrast in my highlights which is subtle but absolutely beautiful. She added layers in my hair which are fabulous. I recently moved to Austin and was well overdue for a haircut. There's always that touch of stress when you set out to find your "hair home" in a new city, but as soon as I sat down with Paige, I knew I was in good hands. Paige took the time to discuss exactly what I wanted beforehand, explained her process throughout (as well as offered some styling tips) and made sure to go through at the end with me for the final touch-ups here and there. I've been going to Kate, the owner for years now and it was a no brainer to follow her to Her own Salon. She gives a great Men's haircut. **UPDATE. After washing my hair with my purple shampoo and styling it my usual way my hair was amazing- I was just too soon on being whiny. Katy called and offered for me to come in for a toner, she definitely didn't have to do that. She is going to do really well with her business being so professional and caring. I will suggest this salon to all my friends. They booked me over text the week of on the exact time and day I needed. The salon is brand new and super clean. Katy was really professional and fun to talk to. I came in for a full highlight but she also did some Balyage I believe in the chair and in the bowl. I have never had it done this way but I think it turned out great. When dry it is very golden and chunks with brass. This is a common thing with blondes and most like it that way but I requested no brass at all and to go for a icy blonde. I will probably get another toner or leave my purple shampoo on and it will look great. I would definitely suggest coming here because pricing is great and stylist are too. After I left I checked out the salon instagram and they have lots of styles to show as a reference, probably much more accurate than a google image. read more

I made an appointment at Spoleti because there were so many great reviews here on Yelp. I also followed them on Instagram to get a better idea of the salon's vibe, so to speak. It did not disappoint! The staff was super friendly and served me some yummy blueberry infused water. Miranda was my stylist and she did an amazing job giving me highlights and a cut that I just adore! It's been years since I colored my hair (I'm a natural redhead) but Miranda really listened to what look I was going for but made it look even better than I had imagined. I also got a much shorter cut. I'm very picky about my bangs and she nailed the bang trim! She was very easy to get along with, was super knowledgeable and professional, took her time, and made me feel really comfortable. The stylists are incredible, every single one of them. They're my go to! I had my hair done by Haley the first time, I was nervous- it was a drastic change for me- trying the balayage and she SLAYED IT! Kate has an amazing eye and is able to interpret my impossible requests (I want it to curl well but also look amazing straight, etc.) and make magic with my haircuts! She's the only stylist I have ever trusted in my 30 years to color my hair, and she ROCKED it... it even looked amazing as it grew out! I've been going to Kate for over three years and I'm so excited she's been able to open up her own place. I get so many compliments and people asking me how do I manage to have colored/highlighted hair that looks so natural and I always give them one simple answer, Kate! Before moving to Austin I was terrified of color because of all the bad experiences I had, especially with my difficult hair and so it's relieving and exciting to be able to change it up again while also Kate using her color knowledge with balayage/highlights to give me something manageable (because I'm horrible about maintenance.) Long, thick hair and summer in Texas do not go together. I booked an appointment on my day off with Daisy to discuss an undercut. The salon is beautiful and clean. I was greeted by the owner, who was friendly and offered me some favored water. It was water and ice cubes with frozen blueberries and lime! Interesting and yummy. Daisy was the perfect mix of friendly and informative. We talked about an undercut, she sectioned off different amounts to see how it'd look. I work a job where I prefer to have a professional appearance. So finding a point where the undercut wasn't super noticeable while down or in low bun was important. After deciding on the undercut, we discussed a small trim and touching up my layers. I have long, thick hair, it's also wavy and poofs out horribly if the layers are cut incorrectly. I only get a haircut once a year because I worry about the stylist butchering it. I explained this and Daisy did an amazing job. It's one of my best haircuts ever. The layers came out perfect! The undercut was perfect. It's been life changing to not have the extra weight! It also looks hip and sexy if I wear it up! And all for a totally reasonable price. read more

I never Yelp review, but I recently got my hair cut by Lyra, and she's worth coming out of hiatus for! Lyra cut my hair (the first time in a VERY long time after a bad experience at a nice salon downtown), and she did such an incredible job! She was fun to talk to, and she was really helpful when it came to deciding what I wanted to do with my hair! Change does not always come easy for me so when my long time hairdresser moved out of state I spent the next 2 years growing out my natural hair. Finally I was ready to lighten it up but am EXTREMELY picky about highlights and wanted to be sure I found someone who could give me a natural sun kissed glow. Just went to see Taylor for the first time, and I'm SO glad I did! My platinum blonde hair was a mess--brassy, damaged, tons of root growth, with a weird pink tinge that I can't even explain. Taylor knew exactly the kind of icy blonde I wanted and did a really thorough job of getting me there. When we initially rinsed out the toner and started drying, there was a yellow band in the back that didn't take up the toner as well. This happens to my hair EVERY time with EVERY stylist, so no surprise there (and totally not her fault). The great thing about Taylor is that she had the integrity to tell me about it and re-toned the band right away, even though it meant our 2.5 hour appointment ran closer to 3.5 hours. She toned out the band beautifully and got me back to the icy platinum I've been missing for so long. She's also incredibly sweet and works very hard to make sure you're comfortable and having a great experience. She will be my stylist from now on, and I highly recommended her! I've been really hesitant to get my hair done again. I've had some bad experiences before (NOT related to this place), so I've really procrastinated. Fast forward 5 years later and Spoleti came up with some really awesome reviews and photos that peaked my interest. I sent them a message and I quickly received a message back. They paired me up with Paige and got me filled in as soon as possible. Their staff is great! They made me feel so welcomed and they were pretty enthusiastic about cutting my hair, so that was really reassuring. Paige was great! I showed her a picture and she delivered!
