COVID update: Safe and professional. Salon owner, Kate, was attentive and welcoming. It was great to get a fresh cut. All salon professionals were socially distancing and wearing personal protection. After 7 months, I went back for my annual haircut. This time, after much contemplation I decided it's time to chop my waist long hair to a long-ish lob. I booked my appointment with Sarah and went prepared with a few photos. The salon was spotless with a few clients. They took my temperature and every station was sanitized every time someone got up. I showed Sarah the photos and she chopped away. At this time, the salon isn't blow drying or styling hair for safety reasons (fine with me). I greatly appreciate the good communication from staff as well as reminders about appointments. First off let me say that I had been a client of Spoleti Salon & specifically Kate (owner) for over 4 years and this is my personal experience and opinion. Through that time, I've seen her work (on mine and my sons hair) really slip in terms of quality. Moreover, I feel like the overall customer experience has decreased significantly. This last time I went in I wanted to add a bit of dimension to my natural rich brown color. I have very long and healthy hair. I gave her an easy inspo pic. She assured me it was "easy enough". After answering all of my questions and making sure she understood the look I was going for, she proceeded to give me all over highlights and assured me it would be like the picture, many times. I was there for hours and she was working with multiple clients at the same time. She was bouncing back and forth distracted and having different people assist and fill in. She said it was because I went with a different look than what I originally told her, which was not true. I had the same inspo pics. I personally feel like if she wasn't able to dedicate the time to the service she should have just told me and I would have rescheduled. Not being focused on even a cut has been happening for the last few appointments I've been to. The end result was NOTHING like the inspo pic, which should have been very easy given my natural base color and length. She then proceeded to insult me and tell me that I was not (Actress) in studio lighting and to enjoy being blonde for a while until she could fix it. Totally not cool! I never asked to be blonde and the look was nothing close to what I wanted. I was left with splotches and stains all over my face/ears. When I told her she recommended makeup remover or rubbing alcohol on my face! The salon texted offered to bring me back in to fix with a toner, but knowing Kate's temperament and mood, I chose not to go. They also offered, then rescinded partial refunds. Sorry I don't want to go back to a place where I feel uncomfortable, insulted and overlooked. The last time I asked for face framing layers she suggested I was asking for "a mullet". What's more, when I asked for my son to have his bangs fall to the right side and questioned the cut, she said I was asking for a combover and left him looking like he had an uneven bowl cut. Anytime I'd mention something didn't look right, she'd get snappy and say it was because of something I instructed her to do. I never gave her instructions on how to cut...just inspo pics and great base hair. Obviously I know hair won't look exactly like an inspo pic, but after numerous visits it should move in that direction. The all over experience IMO is very unprofessional and not somewhere I would like to ever go to again. I was hoping that things would get better after returning multiple times and communicating what I wanted in both words and with pics, but it didn't. You want to feel good and confident about yourself when you leave a salon and that isn't what I've felt in the past several appointments with her. I tried to be overly nice and complimentary to her in hopes I would get the attention I deserved, which didn't happen. I can't speak for the other stylists at her salon which I'm sure are good and have been kind, but to me Kate was distracted, curt and dismissive. I've never been happier to part with a stylist. Though my experience was awful, I'm glad it happened because I was forced to find a new stylist who could achieve what I wanted in one meeting, without any of the drama. (Same post on Google) After searching for a year, I think I finally found a salon and go to stylist. I started off with a consultation on Yelp with Kate. She asked me a few questions and scheduled me with the right person. Emphasis on right. Page was friendly from the start. She asked me what I liked about my previous haircut and color and what I didn't like. She asked all the right questions and even threw out a few suggestions that I said yes to (layers, money piece, etc.). I gave up on asking for layers because it rarely turned out the way I expected it to go, but I left so happy! The cut (layers + ponytail fringe) and color was perfect. For the cut, think shoulder length Rachel from Friends. For the color, Page had to lift it quite a bit, but she walked me through the process and gave me advice on hair care afterwards. I've been coming to this salon for the past year and I have never been disappointed. I always go to Hannah to get a root touch up and all over color, but this time I went for a red balayage. This is the most extreme I've ever gone with my hair and I am absolutely in LOVE. She really worked with me on what color I wanted and provided her expert opinion on what shades and cut would look best on me. This place has really gone downhill. This has been the only salon i trusted going to since living in austin the past 5.5 years...but I have never been so uncomfortable sitting in a chair. While i was in the chair for a part balayage and cut the stylist maybe spoke two sentences directly to me. Im not a huge talker so at first it didnt bother me but sitting there 3 hours like that is wild to me. The major kicker was the receptionist and stylist kept talking about past clients and what pains in the asses they were and trash talking them, which just made me crazy uncomfortable and made me also think they were likely talking about me in the back while i was processing. Also the quality of the balayage and hair cut was just not it for $280. I will not be going back to this salon. read more

They also refunded me and offered me a deal to delete my review and they would give me a free conditioning and cut when my hair grows back. I decided to accept the refund but not the other stuff. Previous review: If you look at my history with reviewing places you will see that I try to stick with highly reviewed locations and I will usually have a positive experience because I am a positive person. I've done lot of things to my hair. I've been letting it grow because I'm trying to get back to my natural. I told her I wanted it shorter. Not too short but def. Right above my shoulder. I also showed her pictures. She cut the bottom layer sooo short and I was like omg please tell me that's just for volume or something... I don't want it that short. She was like yeah the top part will be longer. Anyway. I also asked for curtain bangs because I had a lot of dead hair in the frame of my face or whatever you call it. I showed her pictures of the kind of bangs I want. She gave me the wimpiest smallest amount of bang. Doesn't even look like bangs. I'll show y'all some pictures. At the end of it she was like what do you think? And I was like omg. Honestly. This isn't close to what I asked for and I feel sooo uncomfortable in this haircut. I don't like it at all. I told her I didn't think she was bad at cutting hair. The cut is great. But it is not what I asked for and it is far from what I wanted. 1-2 inches may not seem like a lot to her but it is literally what makes or breaks it for me. I cried. A lot. I was DESPERATE to find a salon in Austin that specialized in color-corrections. I am new to Austin and finding a great salon is CHALLENGING to say the least but it's even harder when you are trying to find a salon to correct the mistakes made elsewhere. After researching and reading a bunch of reviews I saw that Spoleti Salon had a number of positive reviews and when talking to someone at the salon, I felt somewhat assured that I'd be able to get my horrific color corrected. I walked in an met with my stylist, Gavin and told him that my two priorities were to no longer be a red head and my hair health. He truly listened and said he believed we could accomplish those goals by the end of my appointment. I was skeptical throughout the whole process having gone through the red trauma but Gavin assured me that things were coming along. Mid-way through, after almost 90 min of a color remover treatment, I was hella skeptical that we were moving towards a non-red end product (see my photos). Gavin foiled my whole head and after some more wait time brought me back to the sink. At one point, Gavin said there was sadly some pink still left in my hair and that is when panic really set in! But he said he was going to tone it and it was going to look great. At that point I sat in his chair and closed my eyes hoping for the best. I was SO HAPPY when he spun me around! My hair was no longer red and it looked GORGEOUS! I know a color correction can take multiple trips to the salon and I know that I will still need another session to get me back to my blonde highlights but I'm so thankful and pleased! Gavin spent 5 hours with me - he was a great listener and clearly a fantastic colorist! The price was incredibly reasonable - $250 for the entire service (color correction, foils, toner, blow-out style). Love Gavin! He is a miracle worker I will definitely be going back! read more

I had a fantastic experience here yesterday! I went in for a cut and partial balayage. I chose this place because of the reviews and they held to be true! My stylist was Taylor- she was super fun and very detail-oriented! I haven't had my hair done in years and wasn't quite sure what I wanted, but she was able to give me exactly what I wanted even with my poor description of it!! The other stylists were all very friendly and the salon was extremely clean and well-kept. The price turned out to be around $200, which I thought was very reasonable given the AMAZING job she did (see before and after pictures). A few weeks ago I thought I would take a chance on this salon., I should have researched better. I'm new to Austin and the hard water has take a toll on my hair I went to the salon to get a cut and get an all over color. The waiver you have to sign should've been my first clue . I asked if my stylist is experienced with textured hair I was told she was. I'm Hispanic with wavy to curly medium length hair. Well the color was done but not left of my ends long enough so I had them fix it that day, i was already upset about that. My cut was worse she cut the length which didn't need to be cut I made that clear to her , I wanted the dead ends trimmed and cut. I left and went home and noticed my hair felt like she didn't cut anything so I asked for it to be fixed. Go back the next morning and explain about the cut. Im aware there are different types of layering My ends felt better but I left with semi wet hair. When I got home I could not style it there's a lot of weight of one side the layers are so off my hair looks awful. Needless, to say I can't style my my hair at all. All I can do is put it in a bun. It took me so long to muster the energy to write this review because I get upset just looking at my helmet hair. It will take a long time before I let anyone touch my hair again. After a recommendation to a local salon that literally undid everything I'd worked for years to achieve with my hair, I dug in and did the research for a better option. I'm visiting Austin and she recommended a bunch of places to go and things to see. Not really knowing what I wanted, Gabby was quick to help me determine how much hair to cut off and how to style it. Having her professional direction was very helpful. I felt this was a great value and would certainly go back. The salon was clean and welcoming, also they have tasty flavored water as an added bonus.
