We needed some grub and couldn't find anything near the highway. Eventually we saw the sign and made our way. Odd name and not a creepy place. It seemed very 1990's Pizza Hut/ home town. Fun zone type place. They are a busy restaurant and the smells makes anyone hungry and wanting to try their offerings. The service is walk up and order and they will bring your food. The portions are huge and the prices aren't. It's a clean and nice place to stop by. The food tastes pretty darn good and definitely hit the spot. The vibe was pretty awesome here also. My kiddo was a fan of the pizza. She was very happy with that. The chef salad was enough for 2 full grown peeps. I can see us stopping here again the next time through.

I was visiting family and we were looking for a family friendly restaurant for dinner. I hadn't been to Spooky's since I was a kid, so I was a bit leery of how good it would be, but we decided to give it a shot. It was a Saturday evening and accordingly it was busy, however they were kind and allowed us to sit in an unoccupied banquet room. You place your order and pay at the counter, after which they deliver the food to your table. We waited for probably 15-20 minutes for our food, which given how busy they are was completely reasonable. What was awkward was that they brought out food as it was ready, so we received the sandwiches and had to wait on the pizza. It was probably 5 minutes between food arriving. I would have preferred that they bring it all together. All of the food arrived hot and everyone thoroughly enjoyed their respective entrees. I had the grilled chicken sandwich with fries and also tried the crust from the Santorini pie. My chicken sandwich was hearty and the chicken was perfectly cooked. The fries were crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. The crust of the pizza was really good too, it had a nice chew and crisp to it. This is a great spot for families, but be prepared as it is very loud.

We have driven by this place several times on our trips to the Oregon Coast and we finally stopped. This place is a hidden gem, and is like walking into a time capsule. This place has an arcade, several beers on tap, and an extensive menu. Service is counter style ordering where you receive a table marker and then a friendly person brings you your food. This joint feels like a modern, lively restaurant but maintains its quirky charm. My only complaint is that the dough is not fresh made but the ingredients were flavorful and plentiful.

Their pizza doesn't arrive at the table to perform. It comes to correct.

Spooky's is the kind of place that earns its reputation without trying too hard. The menu is simple. The food is sharp. The pizza arrives crisp on the bottom, hot through the center, & balanced without being stingy. Whoever is working the oven understands restraint & timing. The veggies were roasted just to tender. The crust had integrity. Nothing felt like filler. Even the cheese knew when to stop. Service is present without hovering. The space is clean & dated in the way that says they put their money into the kitchen instead of the decor. Good choice. If you want trendy, keep driving. If you want something solid that doesn't need attention to be excellent, stop here.

For years I'd drive through the Dalles and catch eye of a billboard displaying a very peculiar mascot and telling myself I've gotta drop in one day. So on a recent trip when my stomach began to rumble 15 minutes outside the city, I took advantage of this great opportunity and called in an order. The menu is enormous! Not only is it full of specially crafted pizzas but they got sandwiches, burgers, salads, soups and appetizers. As great as it all sounded I felt it would be shame to try anything other than the pizza as a first time customer. The first one on the menu really caught my attention. The Hot Honey Pie (Mama Lils sweethot peppers, hard salami, italian sausage, feta cheese, drizzled with honey, $27.75) was absolutely astounding. Ready as soon as I got there, the toppings were piled generously throughout the pie. The peppers were unique themselves. I would have never thought feta would be such an excellent addition on a pizza. And there was just enough honey drizzle you could taste it and it was a great contrast to the hot peppers. A super distinctive, delicious taste I'm sure you won't just find anywhere. 10/10 for service, quality and execution!

If you look around at this place you will see that it is filthy. The carpet looks like that of an old stinkly motel, it's dark and dreary as well. The food is not good. It's a great place for kids to play video games, but I would never eat there again. They need to clean this place up. Makes me wonder when they have had a good cleaning. read more

Spooky's was one of the first places I ate when I moved to The Dalles a couple of weeks ago. I'm glad I did. I can't say I completely understand the theme of the restaurant. It seems to be based on a character whose hat is, for some reason, shaped like the roof of the restaurant. But aside from the confusion, it's a darn good place. They've got a pretty fantastic beer selection for a place that's essentially a giant sandwich joint, plus they have a bunch of classic video games. I may be mistaken, but I think I saw Galaga. Or Centipede. Or Ms. Pacman. Or She-Donkey Kong. Or something. I don't remember because I was quarter-free at the time. I have a habit of getting the stupidest thing on the menu, so naturally I ordered the Pizza Burger. Much to my surprise, it was a damn fine sandwich. The pizza sauce was kind of sweet and the burger sauce was tangy. They worked together to make a meal that tasted exactly like a pizza and a burger. Truth in advertising, people, truth in advertising. The claw machine was out of order on my visit, so I can't give it a perfect five stars. I'm sorry, Spooky's, but sometimes a man just needs to win a fluffy toy to fully enjoy a restaurant. And this was one of those times. read more

Spooky's, man...I'm tellin' ya--the pie here is like the pizza of yore (e.g., the legends of Salem, http://www.yelp.com/user_details_review_search?userid=LppJHKekgS1MyV29atuj9A&q=walery%27s). The pizza has a thin cracker crust, very light but flavorful sauce, perfect topping placement, cheese right to the edge. Bam! I'm sold. In addition to the throwback flavors, Spooky's rocks the old-school, pizza parlor feel. A few fun video games, TVs, cozy booths, and warm colors. I think their pie is five stars all on its own, but just when I thought my opinion of them couldn't get any higher, the following story happened. My man and I were driving home from George, WA late night on the Sunday of labor day weekend. As we approached The Dalles, M sez, "I'm gonna call Spooky's and see if they're still open!" At this point, it's almost 11pm--so we're doubtful. But then, someone answers! I'm driving, the man's talking, and the first words I hear out of his mouth are "Oh, bummer, so you closed at 9:00, huh?" My heart sinks. Then M asks: "Well, do you recommend any other places around here to grab a bite?" Apparently Spooky's manager chuckled, said, 'no, not at this hour," and then proceeded to tell us that he would make us a pizza anyway! We were stoked! Turns out, the manager was there while the carpets were being cleaned. He couldn't leave, so he figured, why not help us out and make us a mushroom and tomato medium pie to go?* We sat in the parking lot and were rejuvenated by the veggie pie. In that one act of kindness, Spooky's fueled us to make it back to Eugene that night. We are forever grateful. *A cosmic gift not to be counted on in future visits. read more

This place is kinda a joke. The hours suck. We went in there on a Wednesday and my husband orders a pitcher of beer at 8:45 not knowing they close at 9pm in the middle of SUMMER! The lady that rang us up didn't say 1 word that they're closing in 15 min. Kinda pisses you off. ( left a whole pitcher of beer sitting there on the table). Then today, (Sunday) we go there for pizza and they're f-Ing closed! Are you kidding me! I'm not saying their food is bad. But Jesus, when are you open and how can you run a business when you're closing at 9 pm in the summer when the sun is still up and closed on Sunday's when it's one of the busier days for business, especially for families after church. read more

Always a treat to eat at Spooky's,good pizza,great sandwiches,salads,a nice selection of beverages for all ages and a great atmosphere,sometimes a bit noisy when there's a busload of kids from a sports team,but overall the employees smiles and service and the quality and portion sizes are all great.Also a nice place to take kids to play in the arcade. read more

Can't believe we've driven past this place over 50 years. Stopped for pizza and we've already sent others who were heading down the Gorge to Spookys. Their pizza crust is so crispy on the outside and yet it has a small amount of chewiness. The toppings were delicious and generous. Can't possibly recommend it too highly. read more

I have been frequenting Spooky's pizza for the past six years for outstanding pizza pies, fresh creative salads & great burgers. I personally love the style of their pizza, cracker crust, and just the right amount of sauce, order yours any way you please, pepperoni - ultra gourmet they can make it right. Hungry? Order their "big foot" sandwich, two burger patties with cheddar on a giant toasty hoagie roll, I order mine with fresh avocado, & fried onions... I'm guilty of finishing one on more than several occasions. Service is attentive, and creates a friendly environment as well as a comfortable atmosphere. read more

Really, what can I say. We rolled in with a medium size group and they served us with top notch speed. Amazing place with some of the best Pizza that I have ever had. Nothing but good things to say about the staff and the service. This will be a regular meet up of our car club. Most eating establishments in Portland could only strive to be this good. Sorry. For one, I couldn't figure out what they were trying to be...Fast food/restaurant/bar/game stop..? I could get past the haunted theme menu and maybe the old country decor, but I could NOT get past the shitty service. Granted, they were teenagers, but that was no excuse for the piss poor attitudes. Went up to order and the kid didn't acknowledge us. After an awkward moment of silence, we went into our order. When we ordered drinks, she barely nodded her head, and I had to ask her twice if she had gotten it until she finally used her words and said yes... Sat down, and after a while they brought us our appetizers. The breadsticks were ok, but the pizza sauce that was used in place of marinara was watery and tasteless. The giant salad we ordered came with more breadsticks, and that was the only highlight of the meal. The Chicken Caesar salad was pretty iffy, so I didn't bother finishing it. The lettuce was fresh, but the chicken just didn't seem right, and I didn't want to risk it. In the 20 minutes we were there, we had 3 different "waiters" come up and ask if we needed anything, which was kind of strange, considering they did this with no one else. When I asked for napkins, they said they would be back with some and never did...Odd. Anyway, considering it wasn't a cheap meal (40 dollars WITHOUT anything alcoholic) I expected a lot more. Maybe just a friendly greeting when I come up to order...oh wait! won't be doing THAT again. Plenty of other places I can go to spend my money and be treated better. Thanks but no thanks. read more

Stopped in this small beautiful town to see some family. The inside was larger then I thought it would be. It was kind of loud so the cashier had a hard time taking our order but she got it right the guy handing out the food was lost apparently given the wrong number but eventually we got it sorted out. The food was good. mayo was 50 cents extra . Next time I want to try the pizza but the bacon cheese burger was well received around the table . read more

Stopped here on our way back to Idaho and was pleasantly surprised how good it was! The outside looked a little odd but when you walk in it looks a lot different! Very clean place! Has arcade games for kids and has beer for adults. Pizza was very good. Would definitely stop here again. read more

We absolutely LOVE Spooky's pizza! We're not from the area, but travel through it at least twice a year and I always time our travel so that we are inThe Dalles at either lunch or dinner time so we can stop here. Truly excellent brick oven style pizza! I only wish they would franchise and open one in Spokane! read more

Have only eaten here a few times. But, it does have good food. The price is much more than other pizza places in town. We have only ever gotten the Oriental Chicken Salad and the BBQ chicken pizza. We generally only get orders to go because the atmosphere is geared towards childen and we do not have any. read more

Spooky's was opened in 1966 by Tom and Margory Foley as a family-owned and operated restaurant. It quickly became a favorite local gathering place. He said it was good, though Costco's was better. lol. But he ate it all. The dogs got their bowl split in half. There was a bunch of peanut butter, chicken, cucumber, and cabbage. The picky dog devoured it all but the cabbage, the dog who'll eat anything ate only the chicken and PB. Really funny. But they were big sized. I'd go again, just being understanding that they're heavy handed with the salt.

I asked for a Dos Equis, and Heather looked at me and blankly asked, "What is that?" When I explained it was a Mexican beer, she snapped, "We don't have that." Meanwhile, I could clearly see another patron at the end of the bar drinking a Modelo. I pointed it out and just asked for a Modelo instead, which she finally served. The real issue, however, was a shocking lack of sanitation later in our meal. My dad ordered the Reuben soup, which came with a side of Thousand Island dressing. He enjoyed it, so a few minutes later, I ordered a cup for myself. When Heather brought out my soup, it didn't come with its own dressing. Instead of pouring a fresh side, she reached over, grabbed my dad's used, leftover Thousand Island dressing, pushed it over to me, and said, "Oh, he looks like he didn't touch this. You can go ahead and use it." I was completely stunned and disgusted. Passing used, pre-served food side-dishes between customers is a massive health code violation, regardless of whether we are family or not. If this is how they handle hygiene in plain sight at the bar, I dread to think what is happening back in the kitchen. We will definitely not be returning.

I expected better and likely won't be back unless it's a last option, since The Dalles tends to close early on weekends.

Spooky's pizza is an irreplaceable landmark in a small community. The restaurant itself is very old and has a long history of not only good food but good atmosphere. Everything is always very clean, well stocked and maintained. The game room is small but there are shooting, racing, and fighting games you can play with more than one person and also pinball and pacman type stuff. There is actually quite a good selection of food...Practically a dozen different beers on tap, unbeatable soups and really good salads! They have most sandwiches you can think of and a few you wouldn't but would still probably enjoy! The pizza tastes delicious and the toppings usually are very plentiful. The prices a bit higher than maybe you would expect ( dollar or two at most ), but are fair for the amount and quality of the food you receive. And if you can find an issue with the food or asked for something different, they will make what you request at their expense. The thing you have to keep in mind is this isn't a corporate giant that cuts millions of corners to give you a cheap product. This is a quality, unique, restaurant locally owned delivering a good experience. Any occasion is suitable for being at Spookys... I have had birthdays there, been on dates there, been out to eat with my folks, and of course all the times with my friends. The staff is nothing less than friendly and extremely helpful. I would encourage anyone who is looking for good food and good times to check it out. read more

If you are a student like me who enjoys a warm, friendly environment to gather with friends and family to spend any day of the week, Spooky's is definitely for you. With comfortable seating and an inviting fire, you can chat with friends over good coffee... or one of Spooky's famous "Buffalo Chips" -- a delicious home-made cookie fresh out of the oven and topped with quality vanilla bean icecream. Yum! The only difficulty commonly experienced at the restaurant is deciding on what to eat! There are dozens of choices-- from sandwitches whose original recipes began here in 1966, to delicious pizza made with only the freshest ingredients and meticulously chosen sauces, and wonderfully inventive salads like the southwestern-style Alamo Salad-- complete with chips, peppers, and spices. Complete with a gameroom, pinball machines, and several televisions, Spooky's is an ideal place for any family gathering-- from reunions and birthday parties to a night out with the kids. I have eaten as spookies once and i really enjoyed my time there. Our coach made a reservation there and they were very organized about it. They set us up a table in the back and already had the most breadsticks i have ever seen waiting for us. Also they had massive amounts salad and pitchers for us to pour our own pops. I must say that I liked the setting of the establishment, you walk in and it in the center of the restuarant goes down into a small whole where tables are set around a huge fire place that keeps the whole place warm. I like the feel of the place a whole lot! When I went with my whole team that we agreed that the waitresses were very attractive females. Finally I dont know about thier prices because we got endless amounts of pizza and at the end we just put in $10. read more

This was our first time at Spooky's. The pizza is really good. The staff was friendly except I have to say the young blonde haired gal working the beverage station was so rude. They forgot my soda and she made me feel like such a fool we're going back asking for it , needs a little attitude improvement other than that everyone else was lovely and great. read more

I have been to Spookys many times and although they are mostly known for their pizzas , I have fallen in deep deep love with their garden burger. I hope they never change their at recipe! I tried another veggie burger at a much higher priced restaurant, and it just didn't measure up to this wonderful burger! read more
