This place is good enough but not awesome. I had the Alamo salad and it was okay, not bad, not great. Hubby had a burger and fries, it was good. Everything was average, including service and prices. Ordering is done at the counter and they give you a number for your table. Edible pizza, nothing more. I went to Spooky's couple times for lunch with colleagues. The service has always been fine and we were served fairly quickly. What I can say about the pizzas is that there are edible. The quality of the ingredients tasted and looked cheap and pizzas have special nothing to dream about. I would say it is similar to pizzas you can eat at chain restaurants, not a fine pizza place. Since I definitely can cook something better at home, it falls in the "edible food" category. read more

Spookys is arguably one of the best non-corporate pizza locations in the state. I've traveled through out the state trying to see if other locations could compare, but no one came close. Portland has brick oven locations which are fantastic, but Spookys has that "made with love" style. Highly recommend this place to anyone. read more

Let me start by saying that we didn't try their pizza so maybe that makes this establishment worthy of the good overall review record. My wife and I were very underwhelmed. We both had burgers which were ok, the crinkle cut fries were like the ones you can buy in the grocery store and bake at home. We both tried the strawberry lemonade and it was disgusting - not sure if it was some kind of powder mix. It is a reasonably large establishment with only 2 single bathrooms to serve everyone. We are not from The Dalles so found our way there because of the Yelp reviews. Definitely not worth an average 4-star rating. read more

Spookys has been a favorite of mine since I was a kid. It was always the go-to place for a family meal. I've eaten at other pizza spots in The Dalles over the years and this is still my favorite - and now my kids favorite. Every time we drive by, my daughter says she's hungry and wants pizza (even if she just ate!). Everything is great - pizza, wings, salad and bread sticks is a typical order for us (we like to take some home for later!) We have driven past this restaurant for years on our way to Portland but we've never stopped. Read the good reviews and decided to try it. Really great taco pizza piled with lettuce, tortilla strips and tomatoes. We were stuffed. Everyone really enjoyed it. The large pizza fed 4 of us but really we could have fed 5. It's a little dark and noisy but food was great, bathrooms clean, employees friendly. I would recommend stopping! read more

Alright. This is the first time I've ever made a yelp review. This restaurant made me make a yelp review. Food? Okay. Breadsticks are all right. Atmosphere? Loud, full of children, dingy. And this is a Thursday night at 6pm. Now, normally not enough to rate it a single star, what did they do so poorly? The service. Service is abominable. This strange hybrid mix of ordering your food, sitting down, having it served BUT you have to get up and get your own refills and sauces. What the hell? This is the worst of every world. Nobody wants to get up in the middle of eating to do that. Next, you have to pay a KINGS fortune to get sauces. I get it, bummy looking dude comes in, gets a small fry and thirty sauces. I understand. Me and my group ordered SIXTY dollars worth of food and we still have to pay such a cost for Kroger brand 3 dollars a gallon tasting ranch? Despicable. Kitchen looks like a chaotic mess, god forbid you want sauces AFTER you order food, I am not joking when I'm saying I stood in line for TEN MINUTES, buying a DOLLARS worth of sauce, standing in ANOTHER LINE to get the sauce, and then walking back to my Luke warm food. One star, never coming back to a restaurant that doesn't respect customers enough who want a single ranch without climbing mount doom and losing a finger to get it. read more

My husband and I stopped in the Dalles for the night on our road trip. The hotel recommended a couple of pizza places, we chose Spookeys. It is a really cute place. We saw customers from ages 8 to 88. The owner was there and treated us with care. Staff was friendly, hardworking and happy. It was very clean. I would highly recommend Spookeys! I'm giving it a 4 as the decor is a little funky and the pizza was good but not a 5. If you like a friendly casual place...this is the place for you! read more

Our favorite restaurant in The Dalles, and always good. The best fries, and I really like the Hefty Henries. The pizza dough is great (best I've had) so I don't know what the other reviewer was on, but maybe he only likes those really thin pizzas like they're on a tortilla or something. This is more like Chicago style Pizza. And the Decor is totally retro, big 60's style fireplace right in the middle. Been going there since Tom Foley opened it 30 years ago. read more

I love Spooky's. Great atmosphere, and most importantly, great pizza! I haven't had anything else from the menu, aside from their tomato-basil soup (which was good), so I can't comment on anything other than the pizza - but the pizza's always terrific and made with fresh ingredients. I can't comment on the service, either, because you have to walk up to the counter and order your food - a server brings it out, but that's really the only time you see any workers in the dining area. But everyone I asked tells me diffrent, I have asked several people and always got the best reviews!, So my daughter talked me into going, It was Wonderful, the Salad Very crisp and fresh, Hot Breadstick ,Very good, I had a turkey Sandwich which I was Quite Impressed with, Good turkey not cheap wet half water turkey ,, My daughter and her friend had pizza and fries, I was very Impressed Great Crust, a thinner Crust ,Very fresh toppings, not what I thought it would be from the reviews, I am a very Critical Pizza taster, and It was just fine! It had the right amount of cheese the type that stretches, and not too saucy, fresh toppings! Also the staff was very Courteous, and very attentive it was quite busy and still the food came out quickly.
