Was in a position where I had to replace a vehicle. I primarily buy used. I went to Sport Chevrolet in Silver Spring, MD. I live on Northern Virginia and the traffic was crazy that day. I called the used car manager Vince and told him I was stuck in traffic. He said, "I can stay late or we can reschedule." I told him I'd be there. He and a salesman Randy stayed. I looked at 2 vehicles, drove one and bought it. It was a great deal as well...a 2019 Malibu that turned over to 9,000 miles on the test drive. The service department experience was not ideal but in the end they helped me out. I had a nail in my tire and I knew it could not be patched because it was at an angle, right between the tread and the side, and I confirmed with a near-by auto body shop that a patch would not work and the tire needed replacing. I called the dealership a week ago to make an appointment. Since I originally bought my Blazer here I figured it would be routine. Long story short - it was not routine and I ended up wasting some driving out there. They had not ordered the part we had discussed on the phone when I made the appointment. The person I spoke to and who was handling my appointment was not helpful. I went back today and they replaced the tire. I spoke to Gibbs who was kind enough to take the time to apologize for wasting my time the day before. He also took responsibility for the mistakes and is taking measures to improve the systems and communication that led to the miscue. In the end they did a good job repairing the tire and it was under warrantee so it was free. Thanks again to Gibbs for caring about his customers and for the working hard to find a solution. read more

Update: Gibbs, the owner, called this morning and gave me the opportunity to discuss my complaint which I really appreciated. He said the next time I have an issue with my car to call him directly which diffused the tension I was feeling about the whole situation. -- I have had mixed reviews with the service department over the years. Recently, I brought my car in for a fuel leak issue. Near the end of the drop-off day the service manager called to say the technician hadn't seen my car and would look at it the next day. Ok fine. So the next day comes around and I hear nothing. I called and was told the service manager wasn't in, meaning there hadn't even been a diagnostic and that I'd have to wait another day. So the following day, I hear nothing. I text them and hear nothing. I call and they say the service manager is with a customer, he'll call back. He doesn't call back. I call back again and he's gone for the day. So this morning i went and picked up my car and took it to another mechanic. During the process of returning my keys, the service manager tells me that he didn't call me because the tech hadn't looked at it yet and didn't know when he would look at it. Ok, so you're going to hang onto my car for nearly 4 days and I'm just supposed to wait around without a clue as to what's going on? Just not the kind of service I was expecting. We recently broke down on the highway in the Wash DC area on a holiday weekend late on Saturday, on our way to the Southeastern US for hurricane relief. We were towed to the closest dealership for our vehicle, which lucky for us, was Sport Chevrolet. We arrived after service was closed, but the Sales Dept was just closing up. Sales Manager Vincent Kerivan let tow drop our large vehicle in the middle of their busy parking lot, recommended a hotel that accepted large dogs, and Frank provided transportation. First thing Monday morning, Vincent advised Service Advisor Devin Parham of our situation. Devin was able to quickly determine the issue, and although the Service Dept was packed with appointments, of the techs was able to replace our fuel pump, and we were back on the road in no time. Review update: The owner, Gibbs, contacted me immediately after posting my review. He was incredibly pleasant and helpful, and strikes me as a reasonable and trustworthy man. He refunded me the difference in what I paid versus the number I had been quoted. I am satisfied with that resolution, and while I paid more than I would have at the dealership versus going to a tire shop, that is to be expected and the amount was not as unreasonable as my initial bill. However, I cannot recommend doing business with Sport Chevrolet. While my experience with Gibbs was good, his service department still engages in unethical business practices by recommending unnecessary services at a 3-400% markup compared to independent shops. Specifically, I was told I needed a brake fluid flush for $400, despite my vehicle's service manual specifying I would not need one for several more years, and local shops charging between $100 and $150 for a flush. As mentioned above, I was also charged twice as much (over $500) as I was quoted ($230) for a single new tire and alignment. Gibbs refunded the difference (again, thank you), but I should not have needed to write these reviews to correct that. read more

Just don't go here. I'm very aware that dealerships will try to up prices, but I didn't expect straight out lies. They tried to get me to pay more by lying about saving in taxes? After purchasing a vehicle as well as trading in my previous car I then had to deal with weeks of issues. Most of them were paperwork issues that were dragged out and miscommunicated. Just a few examples are that they didn't mention their card fees until after the deal was made (i ended up racking up a few thousand in fees), they insisted on needing extra paperwork for the trade in that they failed to mention at the initial deal, and they needed a new title (charging me $25.00) claiming it was signed on the wrong side. I tried calling the sale's department because of the lack of communication who just transfered me a few times until they hung up. Most of the issues seemed extremely preventable if there was proper training implemented or better management. There are a few good workers, but astoundingly poor management. read more

I purchased a 2021 Silverado Z71 LTZ from Sport Chevrolet approximately one year ago. I traded in a 2019 Colorado which I purchased from another dealership. I thought an upgrade would be nice. I purchased a 2016 Corvette Stingray and figured that with an established relationship it may be of benefit to continue with Sport. Approximately 2 months ago the Silverado went into "limp mode" and after a check with OnStar, the advisor stated that i should get it to the dealership. I did just that and advised of the error messages received. After one week i was told the mechanic was still diagnosing the issue. Week 2, still diagnosing. The owner secured me a loaner car ( Chevrolet Trex). Week 3 Mechanic went on vacation. Week 4 Mexhanic had COVID Week 5 Mechanic ordered parts, Injector ( and gaskets etc) and a wiring harness Week 6 injector and gaskets arrived but no harness Week 7 Still no harness Called Chevrolet directly. Chevrolet advised that they would get involved and expedite the part, further they stated that they would reimburse me for car payments made after completion of the repair and evidence that payments were made on vehicle. I was fascinated that this information was not disclosed from the dealership. Hopefully this will get resolved by the end of the month as the tag on the loaner vehicle expires that last day of July. Overall, this whole situation makes me question my decision in the purchase of this vehicle as I had ZERO issues with the Colorado mechanically and secondly, I'm trying to ascertain the benefit of purchasing this vehicle from Sport as opposed to any other dealership in the area. Bought a 2009 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo from Bruce a few weeks ago. So far so good! The key fob was a bit worn and when I brought this to his attention during the buying process, he immediately scheduled a tech to come directly to my home the following week and gave me two new ones. The tps light was on during the test drive, and I was told that it was because four new tires (verified) were put on the Jeep, which sometimes affects the sensors. The following week I received a call from Bruce, who told me that it was actually an after-market sensor issue (not uncommon with this make and model) and that it would be fixed when I come to replace my 30-day tags. The price was firm and there was no negotiation during the buying process, which was a bit off-putting at first. However, after a week's worth of subsequent market research, I learned that the price I was given was very fair and I didn't feel slighted at all, especially given the low mileage. I was given a complete vehicle history including an inventory and itemization of the recent reconditioning services and maintenance done before it was put up for sale. All in all, I feel like I got a very solid deal for a great 4x4. Do your research in advance, visit these guys, and have a conversation. No time will be wasted. I'll definitely upgrade this review from four to five stars when I get that light sensor taken care of, but even until then, consider this review a high recommendation. read more

This review is for the service department. First of all I had an appointment set for 830 I called the day before to confirm the time and they didn't have my appointment so they gave me a new time of 930. I come in and nobody greets any of the customers they just all sit there and continue their conversation and act like you are a ghost. After 5 mins I say "excuse me I have an appointment with Steve at 930" someone points and says there is Steve. Steve never turns around and makes eye contact all he said was "give me the keys" I asked if he knew how long and all he said was "i don't know" I came here for a recall of a my emergency Jack which should honestly be a 5-10 minute switch of the Jack. But the rudeness, attitude and straight up disrespect from STEVE was uncalled for. They need new employees or some kind of communication training because even the ladies who answer the phone are rude. read more

Updating my review: My best advice, work with Mr. Gibbs. When I called him, pretty much hysterical, my car was giving me car problems again, yet he made sure to handle my situation to near perfection. Another dealer tried to price our repairs for over 2k, I denied service and contacted Mr. Gibbs. Immediately, he and Randy went above and beyond to make sure that we weren't going to have to spend that much working directly with them. Earlier this week I had the hard pill to swallow of saying goodbye to my old car of 14 years. Due to various mechanical issues it was no longer drivable, I first went to the dealership for the model of my original car and they could barely offer anything for trade, and did not seem interested in trying to help me make the best of a very rough situation. Over the course of the day I went to several dealerships in the Auto Park circle and test drove several vehicles. I was feeling exhausted and a bit hopeless about my situation. And then I finally came into Sport Chevrolet. I was greeted in a friendly and thoughtful way by JR. He listened to my needs, concerns, budget restrictions, and worked with me to find what would HELP me the most. We worked together for several hours, he never rushed me, never tried to influence me, and he went above and beyond to make me feel cared about. There are a lot of stereotypes about car sales individuals and I was nervous going to buy a car as a young looking female presenting person. But the true heart of a salesman is to treat people with respect to help them make the right choice, JR is that type of salesman, the kind with a good heart and pride in his work. I would recommend working with him and Esmeralda (in Financing) any time! I can't wait to go back when I need to have my new 2021 Chevy Trailblazer serviced! Yesterday : communicated with Charlie at SPORT CHEVROLET . SCHEDULED APPOINTMENT FOR used Ford focus AT mechanic to inspect today at 10 AM. Today at 9:44 AM mechanic notified me that Charlie just cancelled the appointment at 10 AM. Extremely poor business practices. If less than one star was an option it would be used. Do not waste your time here. There are too many other options for better business and customer service. I am definitely not a fan of car dealerships. They always take so long to get in & out. I guess that is the nature of the beast. Aside from that, you gotta take the good with the bad. I had been looking for a particular vehicle for awhile. I finally found one that worked for me at Sport Chevrolet. The list price was about as good as I could find anywhere, but this vehicle had very low mileage. I was able to negotiate a little to make me happy with the purchase, and I was able to get the trade-in value that made my wife happy. This was a win/win for me. I financed the difference and closed the deal that day. That wasn't the biggest win for me, though. Reggie & Vince bent over backwards to make me happy. Reggie pointed out some things about the vehicle that I had not noticed, and he arranged to have those things resolved. Vince put me in a brand new loaner vehicle comparable to the vehicle I had just purchased. The loaner cost me nothing. Oh, and Reggie made sure my "new" vehicle was topped off before I drove off. What's more, Brian in the service department kept me informed of the status and ensured the job was done correctly. In fact, he found another issue that was not previously identified by Reggie, Vince, or myself. They went above & beyond to get things squared away before returning the vehicle to me. Meanwhile, I was able to "test drive" the latest model for nearly a week. Honestly, I would have to say that, aside from the initial paperwork (needs some work on this process), customer service was at the highest I've seen from any dealership. There was only one car in front of me at the Express Lube. The car had been already being serviced and I had to wait 40 minutes before they even got to me and I was in the next car. No Slam on the technician but definitely management. People go to an Express Lube because it's Express. Managers manage and help your people. This is a very poorly run service department. read more

Worst experience I have ever had at a car dealership. I had called the day before to give them the full details of my sisters trade in, and where she needed to be on car payment. My sisters credit is not good at moment, I did explain this. But they said come in we are sure we can get you in to a car. We were looking at an $8500 2015 Chevy Trax. Figured with that car and amount even with poor credit and negative equity not an issue. Gets us to look at car as we just purchased ourselves same style of SUV 2 days prior. The guy literally goes to lunch on our watch as we are waiting for an outcome. Finally Has his manager appraise car. Comes and tells us the only options are put an abundance of money down. But here is the kicker. Tells us they do not want her car in trade. Says best option is don't pay loan and let car go back to lender of auto loan. Who in the hell would tell someone to do that and on top being paying for another car. So car payment would be over amount she could do. Plus would for sure be hit by lender on old car to pay a portion back. Helping someone is one thing. Point blank treating a customer like a bunch a fulls is another. We walked ourselves out that door. Never to return to this location EVER! Buyers beware, only looking out for themselves. Oh by the way. We left there and went and got a 2020 new car with payment at $325. Gave $3,000 in trade new car had the value to wipe the negative equity. So who is right and who is wrong. ***Update*** The owner of Sports called me and sincerely apologized for this mishap on our purchase. He truly is a standup and class guy to call me after this review was posted. He repeatedly offered his apology, which I did accept. He is a stand up guy and made my morning a bit better than how yesterday was! read more
