I just started taking lessons from Coach DJ (Derek), and I've already seen progress in my game. I'm an avid golfer, and have been struggling with some issues, and DJ has been determined to help me fix them. My ball striking has improved significantly, striping my shots with less effort. The results speak for themselves. You have the option of either having your lesson at Newtown driving range, or at his simulator at Sports Box in Pearlridge Mall. I've chosen to do my lesson at the driving range (note: you do have to buy your own balls). But his package also includes a few hours of practice at the simulator a week (golf practice indoors in AC....yes please!). AND it includes one on course 9hole lesson a month. Such a great deal!! I also need to mention that DJ himself is a great golfer. I've seen him play and am amazed by his golf IQ. It's no wonder he's won multiple tournaments. I wanted to give DJ and his staff at sportsBox a shoutout. My office had planned a team boding event inadvertently during the weekend of Hurricane Lala. When coordinating with them, if we needed to cancel or reschedule the event with DJ he was more than accommodating to give options to reschedule pending the weather. The space was clean and inviting. His staff made the whole process easy from check-in, safety briefing as well as taking care of our large party of 35 people throughout the night. In addition, he did accommodate some extra time in the space because of the weather. I visited Sports Box once a few months ago and it was a very unpleasant experience. I booked about 3-4 days in advance and I got 3 spots reserved and paid for all ahead of my reserved date and time. I received a few text messages with reminders prior to my date. Not once in the reminders was I told of how to get into the mall after hours. I called Sports Box while I was outside, but there was no answer for about 15 mins. I did arrive earlier than my reserved time to check in, but by the time I had gotten in touch with someone it was my time to start my reservation and that was already disappointing at how long it took to get into the building. After being checked in for 3 reserved spots I am told that one of my spots doesn't have the golfing option as it was broken. I wasn't offered another spot, due to it being used by others already. I wasn't offered any compensation, I had to ask the attendants for compensation which I was met with attitude from one of the attendants. Another attendant was pleasant and said he would have to call their boss as they weren't sure what they could do. Throughout my night I waited for an update, but no update was given on what could be done to compensate me for one of the spots not being fully operable. So we started a bit late because we couldn't get into the building and we also weren't offered to finish a bit later, which I would've appreciated since we started a few mins late. At the end of the night when leaving I asked the attendant if they had spoken to their boss and the attendant said they were authorized to give me a $75 Gift Card only, which I took but it is no good to me as I will not be going back. To me it was not a pleasant experience all around. This is not a place I recommend based off of my first experience here. read more

Our first experience with Sports Box was the other afternoon when we walked in. No one was at the front counter. We waited for about 8 minutes before a male worker came to the front. No "thanks for waiting", no greeting really. We asked for a box for an hour. We asked if they offer military discount, he handed us a brochure as he said "you can call that number and ask". You work here, you don't know? And what is calling the number going to do if no one answers & you're collecting payment from us now? The soccer ball in the box he put us in was torn & warped, he gave us a different ball that was also torn but at least not warped. The baseball was missing, so I went to ask him for one as he was sitting at the counter & he said "it's a softball", still sitting down. Ok, whatever - can I have one? It seemed like he didn't want to be there. Not a good first impression at all. Unsure if we'll ever return to this location. The lack of customer service was immense. read more

surprised my husband with 2 hours at the Pearlridge location for his birthday and it was the best gift I could have gotten for him! I am currently out of work and on a budget so I was glad to be allowed to bring in food and byob (I brought costco salad, rotisserie chicken, taco kit, and zippys spaghetti to feed our whole group for under $100) and there's a table set up directly behind your personal seating area that you can set up buffet style. The AC works great and the couches were big and soft so we were comfortable the whole time. The owner was very kind, when he saw my toddlers he brought out a life sized Connect 4 for them to play (which they loved) and had good music playing. There were kid friendly games in the sports box so he was generous enough to set up soccer and pirate dodgeball for them to play. We were having so much fun that we ended up adding an extra hour to stay and play longer. The value is amazing at $75/hour for 6 people to play and being allowed to bring in your own food and drinks really allows for a great party spread. It is also conveniently located in the mall above Longs so when I realized I forgot paper plates so was able to run down and grab some. I love being able to walk around and buy whatever other food and drinks you may want (and this side of the mall has the better food options anyways imo). Came here at opening on 10/15/2023 for some fun with a few friends visiting off island. Saw this place on IG and word of mouth from work. Inside your find space for 3 game areas that can host a part of 4, or a party of 15+. We had a lady help us setting up the games and explaining how to play each game as she saw us struggle. How ever a few of the games had trouble registering what we were doing and that took some time away from playing. Bowling was the worst game we experienced with in terms of tracking the ball and scoring. Highlights were golfing, soccer and baseball by far. 100% worth trying this place if your interested in these game simulators. 5 stars for staff and for how clean it was! read more

It was difficult to find the place. The sign is not visible from the parking lot or from the road for that matter. I had to rely on pictures on Yelp to get a general idea of where the place was. It is on the second floor of the first building on the right. When you enter, it is actually a lot smaller than what you would imagine it to be. Next, the owner's mom hosted us. She was helpful to a certain extent. She wasn't able to fix our screen to be able to play golf. Luckily, we were the only ones there at the time and the other screen had golf up and running. Since the place was empty by the time our reservation was up, we had the opportunity to extend our time if we wanted to. We were asked this around 7:57PM. When we kindly declined, the lady switched tones and said, "Okay, well then clean up." I mean, I guess there is no other way to tell us to get out. She had a guy with her visiting and chatting with her so I am not sure if that was the reason why she wanted us to rush. You go for what you came there to do. Which is virtual sports. We had a holiday team bonding event for my son's soccer team and the boys had a ton of fun. With the 70 person party pack, we had the whole space to ourselves, and the boys got to enjoy playing all the sports--golf, baseball, soccer, hockey, bowling, basketball, dodgeball, football were some of the main ones they played. There was also a putting mat that was also an option for them. The little siblings had an area in the back that had other games they could engage in, as well as a karaoke room (which we had access to, but didn't end up using). There was ample couches for parents and boys to sit, however we opted to also bring extra benches to line the walls in case parents wanted to relax on the side. There were two tables up front that we could use, and also two tables in the back of the venue that we also could use for food. You could bring outside food and drinks (alcohol was allowed). When we entered, we had to watch a quick video that shared safety rules. The staff kept to themselves, occasionally came around to remind the boys of the rules. About 45 minutes before our time was up, someone came to let us know that there was a party after us, so we needed to be cleaned up on time. He also gave a 5 minute warning, and we made sure to be out on time. It was pretty loud and on the cooler side, but we were sitting right by the fan and the speaker. Great party place for people of all ages. We rented Sports Box for my now 10 year old nephews birthday, and everyone had so much fun. We paid $200 an hour, invited 35 people and rented the place of 3 hours, the time went by so fast. We brought our own food, and there was tables set up with a microwave oven, and a refrigerator. We were able to keep our food out and eat throughout the room. There is plenty of room for our 35 guests, everyone was comfortable and able to play. the place included 3 screens to play a variety of virtual games, karaoke, and tons of golf courses to explore. Available for your use is golf clubs, baseball bats, soccer ball, bowling ball, target practice guns, microphone etc. Lots of seating, 3 large sofas, 1 smaller sofa, and few chairs. DJ was a great host, and was there to assist with the screens, pretty much stayed out the way, but was there if we needed him. Sports Box is located on the 2nd floor in the Aiea Harbor Center, first large building on the right, behind Cutter Ford. Plenty of parking, and a large elevator. The inside looks pretty ghetto and underwhelming. When I first entered, I didn't know if I accidentally walked in on someone's party or if it was the actual place. They only have about 3 "boxes" but it's more like 1 big room divided into 3 sections by coaches. You can totally see and hear what the other boxes are doing. But if you don't mind that, then this place is okay. The time goes by fast so it's hard to play all the games in 1-2 hours with 5 people. It's fun, though. There's no walk-in option here, it's booked online ahead of time, by 1 hour block per box that accommodates up to 6 people. It's BYOFood and BYOB and basically you run the games by yourself too. I'm sure that's appealing to some. It was lackluster for me. Nothing Earth-shattering although my kids didn't mind it. Too expensive for a "just something to do" activity and too lax from the staff who sit on their phones with their feet on the furniture or eat in front of patrons. Just seems to lack professionalism? Software is laggy. Our mouse for our computer was trash. Cost us valuable time trying to just select a game. The western game is awful. Target lags behind where you're trying to shoot. Don't even try the bowling unless you like being let down. Baseball is terrible as well. You have a pitcher pitching an invisible ball to you that you have to then hit off a tee. The only program that seemed like it worked well was golf. If you think you're going to have any fun at all playing anything besides golf I'm fairly certain you'll be let down. Cost $80 for 1 hour and that's just not a good enough value for me to ever come back. My family of 4 all had a terrible time. Most games lag and don't respond properly. Then do on the next round. Extremely inconsistent software. Extremely dissatisfied with this place. Will not be back. read more

She was patient with explaining the ins and outs of the set up and was helpful the whole time. Parking is easy and you can easily rent out all three "boxes" for a few hours if you have more people. We only booked an hour but could've gone for another if there wasn't a party after us. BYOB and food is a huge plus. There is a bathroom in the business and adequate essentials for storing a cake or beverages and an extra table for your food. Our kids (and the adults) had a blast!
