I came here to get some ammo. They had a sale and I thought they had enough in stock but I was wrong. The staff here are really nice. They told me just to order the stuff and have it shipped to the store so you can get all that you need and fill out the paperwork only one time. The store is pretty big with a lot of merchandise. They have a large selection of guns and rifles. wasn't too long to wait to get some assistance either. They have a registers at the gun counter so there is no need to pay up front. I noticed a line when i came in. I did what they said and my ammo was ready in a day. Great sale price and good service. read more

I called in to get quick questions answered before coming in. Which resulted in prompt educated responses. Saved me a trip due to honesty and I was in and out for what I needed. The person on the phone was polite and articulate to answer what I needed. The person even remembered me when I came in the store. Very rare to get this type of service. I am assuming the bad reviews are people who were educated and felt horrified about their lack of knowledge. Gun culture is an educated culture, be prepared to learn or abide by the safety standards and rules that adhere to them. Inside the store was clean and spacious areas. The department I needed was the firearms section, which was at the far end of the shop. That being said they have a wide collection of what I say good ammo that you can rely on for self-defense. What I can also say is that they do not gouge you on prices. The prices are well within reason, and they are updated ammunition. By updated I mean that they have different casings for those who know that grains and bullet type matter. That being said, getting plinking ammunition is a good to go here. You can trust the brands they have in stock and the staff for the firearms department is knowledgeable and friendly. Keep in mind the long wait is due to either education, or the long lengthy checks to get said items. That being said, pay your taxes, pay your registration fees, do your due diligence and you're out and about easy. I may bring in my gun to get checked by their smith. But TBH American Made Baretta 9mm FS is the far superior choice than the mass produced m9 and Italian made one. I don't think I need a service on my weapon in quite some time. Do your research, some things made in America, is better and not well advertised. This goes for the ammunition as well. To the dude who helped me. Thank you, man. Thank you for your service as well. I would do it myself, but I have a child, and those chemical fumes are strong. That being said professionals have better tools, cleaners, and or oils. Their selections of firearms are quite nice. My instructor likes a sig 1911. TBH I just think he likes the SIG brand. He changed his mind after a few rounds of the broken in Baretta. I prefer the Baretta 92 FS. Not the M9. Note. The M9 Baretta is the same model, except mass produced for the military - also easier to track supposedly. Jamming on said Baretta is due to reloading too fast and not waiting for a full decock and one in the chamber load. That being said, make sure the entire magazine is fitted securely then take the safety off. Point blank, the 92FS will cock with the safety on automatically when empty, this is the reload problem as some people are able to reload too fast before taking the safety off to decock. That being said, my 92FS shoots true in a bladed stance at rapid fire. Note. 5 round rapid fire, 15-20 feet distance from target, and before the target paper flies up can be done with the 92FS. Within range, within standard, with a hard skill set notation. Note. You will get kicked out for rapid fire in most shooting ranges. Note. I had to break in my gun with a lot of rounds before it rang true. Expect to spend 2k+ ammo of breaking in a 92FS. Note. This location sells firearms for rather cheap, and at a good price. Considering inflation, the cost they have is almost the cost my firearm cost a decade ago. According to their list my firearm is 30 bucks to clean. Took about 30min to clean maybe more. That being said the gun came back clean, not greasy and one definite caveat. No odor. I got called to the desk when the item was done. There is a bathroom in the facility so no need to worry while you are waiting. I think the dude even cleaned my gun case too. Wonderful service. Note. They have a membership cleaning service or something that I just ignored and wasn't pressed about it. read more

Customer Service. Husband bought a shirt for our son's birthday. I just wanted to exchange it for a size small. They had no smalls. I asked if other locations might have small. Their response if they are no smalls on rack, then we don't have it. If I was at Macy's they would have looked to see if there was any size smalls in stock at other locations order it and ship it to my home. It's a $54.95 shirt!!! I went to Sportsmans in the middle of a Wednesday afternoon with no lines. I stopped by to see of I could sell a firearm. I got to the gin desk to find two clerks helping out customers. I took my slot in line and as the clerk named Jacob, he just causally called the guy thatvwas behind me in line. I looked dead at him and signaled to myself as in "hey I'm right here and got here first". The guy said nothing, didnt even acknowledge my presence. I was taken a bit aback. I waited in line o ly for the staff to do the same damn thing again. Finally after about 20 min a different guy finally called me to the counter take less than 5 sec to look at my offering and say nope we don't buy that. I basically wasted about 45 min of my time in this place. Funny, the two guys they skipped me over for were white while I am very obviously not. F that place. This has to be one of the worst retail establishments I've gone to. I purchased a pistol and they failed to register it with the DOJ. It wasn't until months later that I even found out, and their failure to register it blocked me from permitting the gun, which is specifically what I bought the gun for. I called to understand what happened and they said they'd get back to me. They did provide an update, but just one, and it was only to tell me that they were waiting for their compliance team...the permit window came and went, and I was unable to do what I had planned to do. After a couple of weeks with no news, I called them and spoke to the store manager who was unaware that there was even this issue. She got back to me promptly and they offered to re-DROS the pistol. I asked what they needed from me and I was told just documentation, the gun wasn't needed. They did offer to provide some sort of compensation, but that was after some negotiation. Fast forward to today: when I go in, I'm told that they can't do anything because I don't have the gun! So now, I have to go back, wasting more time. A frustrating experience to say the least. This store is nestled into one of my favorite shopping centers of Elk Grove. It took over the previous Dick's Sporting Goods building. While I'm no "sporting fool", I enjoyed browsing here just to see what's what. The store is neat, clean and well organized.  They have a section geared towards outdoor sports, active apparel & footwear.  Including a large variety of equipment mostly focused on hunting and fishing, that mainly include guns, ammo, bows, arrows, etc. I was amazed at the extensive aisle of fishing lures, rods and reels! We also checked out their kayaks, canoes, boating supplies, BBQ grills and camping equipment section. There didn't seem to be any type of athletic sports products pertaining to baseball, football, soccer, tennis or even golf here. Dick's was a better store when it came to active sports and bicycling. I usually love to shop at their store at Rocklin when I'm there. I always hoped Sportsman's Warehouse would open a store close by a couple of years ago in the middle of the pandemic. This store in Elk Grove/Laguna Creek is not as massive as Their Rocklin's store. But still very big. It was the location of Sport Authority than Dick's Sporting Goods before. The store looks a much better layout than the former companies and carries a lot more interesting products. Sportsman's Warehouse carries a lot of fishing and hunting gear. It is a paradigm of anyone who loves outdoor activities. They have lots of fishing poles and all kinds of guns in stock. Many camping, hiking, and other sports activity items are available. I'm sure you will find something you want in the store. The salespersons are available in all departments. They are happy to provide you with information or recommendations if needed. You will enjoy your shopping experience in the Sportsman's Warehouse in Elk Grove. read more

Brand spanking new! Yay a better fit here in town than Dick's & Sports Authority. We always go to the one out of the suburbs of Sactown so being here close to home will be ever so convenient. While being here we were asked if we needed assistance. That's a first right? They did have the longest line in the gun area. Just be aware of this if you are looking for that & pack your patience! With other big stores removing their gun departments I'm glad SW has the guts to maintain their gun and ammo department.

I get consistently great customer service at the gun counter. You sorta have to know what to expect. It's almost always busy. 3-4 customers means it's busy. They give great service but that means if they aren't serving you, they are focused on the other customers. Typically there's a line for ammo, and a line (with a paper ticket system) for buying or looking at guns and scopes, or taking tests. And it's not like buying ammo is a matter of picking it off the shelf - it still takes 5-10 minutes to buy once they get to you. They have to help you choose the ammo, always have someone at the counter, run a background check, make copies of stuff, collect payment...this isn't very quick. This is California. At small gun store, often there's less customers, so you may get lucky. But I've waited 15 minutes at Wild Bill's just to buy a pack of targets (good service there, too). I bought a Glock recently and the process was pretty painless - well it sucked because of california, but it wasn't hard. You're able to make an appointment online when you buy a gun. That is highly recommended. read more

Their gun department is super busy. So is most gun store! Buying a firearm is a pretty long process due to the background check. Then you have new firearm owner wanting optics and ammo and tons of questions. Which takes more time per customer. What's great about Sportsman is that you can make an appointment if you order online firearm and or pick up. That's what I usually do. read more

I recently had a great experience at the Elk Grove Sportsman's warehouse. I bought a new compound bow as a beginner to the sport, and was recommended to come back the next day when their "bow guy" was in, so he could size it to me, correct the draw length and sight it in. Lee was extremely helpful and very informative in all these areas and more, and took his time on a busy Saturday shift to get me dialed in with everything I needed and the understanding to back it up based on his personal experience. We were greeted and let the gentleman know we were there for a purchase. He said Ok! We waited over 30 mins and another employee walked out and helped the guy behind us. He said he's assisting the next guy who pulled a ticket. We didn't know we had to pull a ticket. The first guy didn't say anything about pulling a ticket. Both employees acted like they didn't see us standing there for over 30 mins. We walked out. There were all but 4 people in the store. There's no reason why we should have been ignored or had to have waited that long. There's other sport places to shop. read more

I like this place, the store is always neat, the guys at the gun counter have always been cool and returning stuff has always been easy. I come here a couple times a month. They also do really cool events like balloon pops with discounts or free stuff inside! I hope it doesn't go under and then some terrible 99cent store takes its place. The first few visits to the hunting/ammo department were okay. My last visit was horrible. The ticketing system, line system, and overall awareness of customer service aren't present. They're pretty knowledgeable about their guns and most are pretty friendly but holy moly do I hate bad customer service and flow management. Be prepared to be confused, ignored, and wait...not sure for what but just wait. I'll end by saying an employee asked me to wait to the side, helped a few other customers and then told me he's clocking out and just dipped...literally just left. 30 minutes later one of his colleagues asked me "You're still waiting here??" yeah I am bro because your line system and customer service are pretty bad. Other than choppy customer service their selection of items is pretty good and prices are very decent. So I guess it'll just depend on if you show up on a busy or slow day. read more

Went in today around 1330 for the following; information on purchasing a glock for the spouse, CCW information, ammo for my rifle, magazines, local gun range information, and to purchase a cleaning kit. After waiting almost 2 hours I left frustrated with nothing. I received zero customer acknowledgment was only able to get CCW information from a sign posted in front of the counter. I believe it's fair to say, "I will take my business elsewhere." read more

It would've been a five star if it wasn't for the waiting time just for the firearms department. Expect to wait at least an hour or more if you're trying to check out firearms. It might be about the same time for ammo but I'm not sure. The store is pretty big and very organized. They have tons of options for all types of outdoor sports. Staff is very knowledgeable and experienced in the hunting and firearms department. I would highly recommend everyone to stop by. Also very family oriented store. The negative reviews are 100% spot on. Good Lord this was one of the most excruciating firearms purchasing experience I've ever had. A long story short is impossible, but here's the gist of it. Gun counter is slow and under staffed. They don't practice safe firearms handling (flagging themselves and customers). They have policies for cutoff times for picking up a firearm or starting paperwork on a given business day. But, they don't state them at time of purchase, they don't post them on the wall by the gun counter, and they don't write it anywhere on the paperwork. This makes me want to never purchase another firearms at a Sportsman's Warehouse. But I'm pretty sure it's just this store, because I've had good experiences with the other ones. As someone who in general really likes Sportsman's Warehouse, I cannot recommend this store at all, but especially for firearms purchases. read more

Recently I bought my first firearm from Sportsman's Warehouse in Elk Grove. It was a great experience. Emmanuel and his team at the gun department made my purchasing experience enjoyable. Employees at this location were extremely respectful, patient, and helpful to me and every other customers. No matter who you are, you will feel welcomed here as a customer. I understand that gun buying process can be long and frustrating in CA, but they tried their best to make the process as painless as possible. They have an online appointment system created for background check and pickup, whereas customers for general browsing and ammo purchase are helped in store. Overall, customer service and speed of service is way better than other large stores. Customer service at this specific Sportsman's warehouse vs Bass Pro Shop in Rocklin is just night and day. I will certainly return to this location to purchase more firearm and ammo. read more

Usually my go to since they always have the cheapest firearms among all gun stores. I saw an ad on Turner's about their Aguila 22lr 38g for $16.99/250 rounds. Sportsman's has a written policy about beating the competition by 1%. They were selling the same ammo at $19.99. I got 8 boxes and then presented the Turner's ad. They had to confirm it with the manager who is an ass. HE did not believe the ad from Turner that I showed him despite having it in their website and even told me he knows the manager and he can call him. I shrugged but did not budge. He called him and confirmed it is indeed that price. He grudgingly okayed the sale and I reminded him about them beating the price by 1% just to stick it in. He then proceeded to tell me that he had the option not to and that I am just trying to cheat him that 1% off him like he owns the place. There was actually another encounter between the two of us in the past so maybe that is why he remembered me. I sold my FMK 9c1g2 to them and then I used the money to buy a Beretta PX4 which was on sale at on their flyer. At that time, too, Beretta has a promo of $75, although it was a mail-in rebate. The Beretta was being sold for $399 or something, down from the usual $499. The website CONFIRMED IT IS AVAILABLE AT THE STORE. Now, for some reason, he does not want to honor the flyer because he said the model written on it is different from what was in the flyer, but he did confirm their website says it is available at the store and that his staff, before they called him, said they will honor the flyer and that it is the same Beretta. In came Mr. Ass Manager. He said he wont give it and even said the PX4 was not part of the rebate. I bought it anyway for the full price of $499. I then called their number and complained about the "fraudulent" flyer and "fraudulent" website. After several back and forth, I got them to agree to honor the flyer, send me an email and send an email to the store. I went back to pick up my firearm after 10 days. I spoke with the staff and they asked Mr Ass to approve my $100 refund. He even tried to make me take a store credit. NOPE. I want my money back. He had no choice, I guess. Either he gives me back my refund or I call the main number again since they also promised to refund me my money if the store did not give it back. And I also got the $75 Beretta rebate after 3 months. I still go there to buy ammo when there is a sale and I actually bought my first shotty there recently and will pick it up soon. If you go there, the best people at the gun section to ask will be Matthew and Emmanuel. They are solid and they will answer all your questions with respect and even give you tips. I havent seen Mr Manager...maybe he got fired or something because I can feel his own staff do not even like him. read more

Don't buy a firearm here unless you want to spend most of your day there. It's almost as bad as waiting at the DMV. The associates were friendly but extremely slow. They typically have one to two people working the counter and you cannot do anything without taking a number or making an appointment. I spent nearly two hours attempting to purchase a firearm that was on sale only to find the clerk grabbed the model (same gun, different color) that was not on sale. We only realized this after the DROS was completed, twice (because the clerk made an error the first time) and I went to pay only to find it was not the firearm that was on sale. Unfortunately, they sold out of the sale item and would not match the price. Additionally, I purchased a firearm accessory only to find the item had been previously used and missing components. Of course they ran out of that too so I spent over 2 hours at this store for absolutely nothing....and I had to drive back to return the accessory. read more
