The Spot is only a few blocks from my house and yet I don't go there nearly as often as I should. Everytime I do enter those doors I wonder why I don't go more. To say the waitstaff is friendly is certainly not doing them justice. Yes, they are friendly, but in a way that makes you feel like they are sincerely happy for you to be sitting at their bar. They are attentive, but not to the point of intrusion. The food is solid. It's basic and not pretensious, but oh so, so good. We've had a number of items on the menu and they are all delish. The beer selection is good but not overwhelming. The Spot is what you want in your neighborhood bar. I will definitely be going here for a pint more often. read more

Dark wood interior with several tv's boasting all sorts of games. I enjoy the decor on the walls, all sorts of quirkey dog pictures, so you can imagine, the place is dog friendly. There is a nice patio out front that is quite spacious. Good bartenders and servers. Everyone on staff seems to pitch in, you don't have a single server. Whoever is walking by will take your order, bring your food, and fill your beer which is really nice & very sweet I think. There is a nice happy hour that we enjoy. The food is decent (grilled cheese is my favorite), but it can get pretty crowded when the neighborhood yuppies decide to get their drink on and parking can make the whole experience worthless. The upside is that it is one of the cheaper places around Wash Park, but during Friday happy hour you will be surrounded by drunk yuppies. I love Spot Bar, and miss it, as I used to live just around the corner. Their food is fantastic, and they have a great happy hour. All of the staff are really friendly, though service can be slow during peak times. They've got lots of TVs, so the game you're hoping to see is sure to be on. Went here recently for a bite with friends. We shared some wings and i had a simple pub burger. The smoked wings here are the bomb! I don't even like wings, normally, but these were great. Highly recommended. Seriously, you should give em a try. The burger was cooked perfectly to temp. and the fixins were all fresh and good. My amiga had the Brisket. It looked amazing. She said it was amazing. She wouldn't share any but I bet it was amazing. The prices for food were quite affordable. Horrible experience! We will never go back, and the worse part is we live two blocks away. It's understandable that a bar would be busy in a Friday night but when our server forgot my boyfriends burger for the SECOND time and decided to take a shot right in front of us we were tempted to just walk out! I ordered an Irish coffee and after waiting 15mins the server came back to finally take our food order and my boyfriend asked about the Irish coffee, he said "coffee is brewing." After another ten mins he came back and said the coffee maker was broken. I'm gunna go ahead and assume he forgot about my order too. Friday night it's busy and I get that but forgetting multiple things and having the audacity to take shots in front of your customers you clearly don't want to make money! Spot, I love you. I'm sorry I only gave you 4 stars before. Of all the bars in Denver, I have spent the most time with you. I have met the most friends at you, and had the best time with you. I always seem to make friends while at you. Just this past Sunday, I went with my friend Josh. We had a few beers, and watched the Olympics. We sat at the bar and even ran into Liz, one of the Goddesses from Salon No Dice. her presence was welcome, and her opinion on female gymnastics was appreciated. And there was Nathan, a fellow Cubs fan who I talked with about the chances of our team of eternal heartbreak. Spot may not be perfect (especially when they turn down the volume after I spend too much money to download Mars Volta songs on their jukebox- I'm not bitter). I love this place though. Ecclectic crowd, lots of drinks, and an atmosphere that keeps everypone happy. I swear I make a new friend every time I go. The deck is truly glorious. read more

I've been frequenting the Spot off and on for the past few years. It's another small neighborhood bar around Wash Park and it offers a pretty solid HH from 3-7. They have a handful of $3.50 appetizers; I recommend the loaded nachos, cheese sticks, and wings. Their smoked wings (especially teriyaki) are worth giving the Spot a try alone. They also have a full bar menu- get the burger or the fish and chips and they'll hit the spot. The beer selection is pretty standard and their prices are fair. They are a dog friendly establishment and you can usually find a couple lovable mutts outside the door. The service can be hit and miss, so be nice and you'll probably benefit. The best way to enjoy the Spot is to cruise up on your bike on a nice afternoon, get a seat on the patio and enjoy the buzz around Pennsylvania and Bayaud. Feel the breeze, pet the dog and be happy for a place like the Spot. read more

The Spot is a good neighbor to me. I live close enough that the crowds can keep me up at night, as they can get pretty rowdy. I'm not a big fan of the sports bar feel, or the types of people that crowd into here when a big event is happening, but the bartenders are friendly, the food is pretty good (the burgers are nice, but try the marinated chicken sand), and the patio is a good place to hang year round(covered/heated in wintertime, they also have a little swamp cooler for hot ones). All in all, it's a fun place to get my occasional day-drunk on, or for lunch. At night, I'll walk past to see if it's crowded and if so, just call in a food order to go (unless a friend or bartender sees me and calls me in). read more

I love this place so much for exactly what it is: a casual neighborhood bar where you can grab a drink with friends or watch a game at the bar. It's not a sports bar, but there are enough (big!) TVs that you can know what's happening in the major games playing at the moment. Bonus: happy hour goes til 7. The HH food menu is short, but cheap, and I've never had food I didn't like. Servers are attentive and friendly. (One of the bartenders even held my beer for me behind the bar when I was in to watch a baseball game on my own and needed to use the restroom - so great!) It's typical bar food with a typical Denver beer menu (read: ~10 choices, all good, nothing shocking) in a cosy neighborhood atmosphere. We visited this bar for Thursday night football. It's a cozy neighborhood bar that's close. The atmosphere definitely is a community/neighborhood bar which we like. It's not to big or to small but just right. With that said, if you are going to watch a game get there early. It fills up fast. The food is good. This is one of the better examples of a neighborhood bar you'll find. Tucked away 6 blocks from Lincoln and a block away from a school, Spot Bar is a small little joint that has some rowdy patrons who love their football and basketball, and they get to enjoy them on 6 or 7 huge HD screens. The bartender gals are super cute and friendly and they even have a few waiters to get you another beer or some food since it gets pretty crowded and hard to move around. It may only hold around 45 people max, but it's a cool little place and I would recommend it to anyone who just wants a cold one, some grub and watch the game. read more

The spot may only get three stars, but don't mistake that for a bad review - I love this place. It's a great neighborhood staple for locals. I wouldn't go out of my way to eat at Spot if I was across town, but for a cold beer, outdoor seating, and good grub within walking distance, it can't be beat. My go-to menu items are the black bean burger and nachos - but the weekend brunch menu is easily the best. Makes me miss living in Denver and walking to Spot on hungover Sunday mornings for some good grub and fresh air. Was brought here by a friend to have a burger and drinks before we went out. He appears to be a regular, and had been talking it up for awhile. Basically, I liked it. The staff was warm and friendly, made strong cocktails, poured a perfect beer, and were prompt & attentive with their service. I'm a tall dude who likes sitting at the bar, and theirs was pretty comfortable. I like that. Burger was tasty, but the fries were just okay. They seemed like they should have been in the deep fryer an extra 20 seconds or so. My sole complaint? It was so damn hot inside the bar! I was sweating after a few minutes inside, and I didn't seem to be the only one. Granted, it was a particularly chilly winter evening in Denver, but they had that heat cranked! I liked it... This place is always packed, but never too packed to find a table. Some of the wait-staff is great, but other members leave a lot to be desired. The happy hour specials are great, although they could have a late night set of specials. This place is everything you want in a neighborhood bar: surprisingly good variations on standard bar food and cheap drinks poured with a heavy hand. (No BS about that second part though; two mighty yet tasty rum and cokes did in a very small lady I know.) Go on a Monday for happy hour drinks and $5 burgers and fries.
