A great place to fulfill your bagel needs! I got the chicken egg and cheese on everything bagel. The chicken was crispy and little tangy with the delicious cheese. The bagels were made in house and very fresh. I love how the store was decorated with the banner. The staff were very friendly and chatting with the customers. I stumbled onto Spot a few hours ago, turning down a side street in Norwood Center. What a find: Delicious bagels, carefully crafted custom coffees (seen, not consumed), ample seating and parking, and very friendly staff. They're understaffed right now asking for patience from patrons (per a sign.) Regardless, this food is well worth the wait. The dining (and shopping) space is large and comfortable; restrooms in the rear of this space. I could tell most people were "regulars" based on the banter at the counter. I had high hopes when I saw the bagels. Nice and big ... but not too big like a life preserver. The coatings, like sesame or poppy seeds, covered every square centimeter. They toasted nicely and slathered with some homemade scallion cream cheese looked delicious. And that's where the dream ended. The bagel was dense and doughy. There were no air pockets. Nothing to give the bagel the light, airy crunchyness that pairs so well with a great cream cheese. Instead of a properly made Jewish bagel, it was more an Irish soda bread masquerading as a bagel. First visit to SPoT! in Norwood MA. Parking: A breeze in a huge free lot. Bagels: Very good (crust, density, flavor). I liked the "eggrything" bagel. Sandwich construction: Decent. My wife liked her egg sandwich on everything. Coffee: Meh. Value: Very very good (classic lox bagel sandwich $7.99 and bagels to go $1 each). Ordering and line management: Not good. The bottleneck was a single cashier handling orders and payments for the prepared bagel line, payments for the bulk bagel line (alternating while the other line waited), and coordinating pickups of prepared items. Raising individual bagels to $1.50 instead of $1 would more than pay for an extra counter person, most people would gladly take that tradeoff, and they'd make more money with happier customers. Seating: A few communal tables, both standard and high-top. A few counters against the windows and walls with stools. Lots of replica vintage soda signage to go with their bottled soda business. Since most of the soda shelves were very sparsely stocked, I'm wondering if cutting that in half with the same stock and adding more tables might be a better use of the space. Food and value were enough to withstand the systemic issues and unnecessary wait. We purchased bagels for later in the week (so far, so good) and we'll definitely be back. read more

I love freshly made bagels. Make sure you get here at 2:58 PM in the afternoon, to grab some bagels that will ring up $1.5 for 3 bagels at 3 PM. Not all flavors are available at 3 PM. If you come even later in the afternoon, their bagels will sell out. If you are here for a bagel sandwich, be prepared to wait (30+ minutes), especially on the weekends. I came here once for a bagel sandwich, sadly the long wait wasn't worth it. I'd rather buy bagels and then make bagel sandwich myself at home. I don't know why I haven't written a review for this place yet. I've been going here for years! So much so, the cash register lady recognizes me AND my friends and family. Ha. The bagels are always fresh, the quality is fantastic, and the price is unbeatable. I've waited up to 45 minutes for their breakfast sandwiches and I will continue to wait that long for them. My favorite is the egg, cheese, and hot sausage on a garlic/sesame/everything/onion bagel. The bagels that aren't sold by EOD (which is very little by the way) is bagged and frozen - and sold slightly cheaper. Still, a bargain! They also make their own cream cheese - highly recommend the veggie and scallion ones! Iced coffee is good too! If you like something in your coffee normally, just ask - they don't have a coffee menu but have a ton of different syrups! They also have great nostalgic drinks, candies, and soda pop for purchase too! Service is friendly and always helpful but a bit slow sometimes given there are only a few of them working so I totally get it. Place is clean and welcoming. At 3:00 pm on a Sunday, having only eaten a grapefruit and a coffee, I decided I needed a bagel with smoked salmon. Having been to Spot about 18 months ago, but upon my return about a week later, to a very formidable line of patrons, I had not returned until today. I am glad that I went back. The Classic, good old fashioned bagel with chive cheese, a couple of proper slices of Nova (they did not skimp!), red onion, tomato and capers, on an untoasted (definitely fresh) poppy seed bagel, was everything I had hoped for. Even comes with a proper (free) full sour pickle wedge. I was in heaven. At that time, I was one of less than 10 diners, so it was quick and very satisfying, and the ice coffee was quite good, too. The interior is a mix of a renovated warehouse, but with whimsical charm from very eclectic sodas from all over the globe, and retro candies from the days of my youth. The Spot is my favorite bagel shop of all time. Ever since my brother took me to the old location I have been a fan. Their bagels are big, priced very affordably, and are delicious. The staff are so nice and helpful, I see the same people working every time I go and the cashier always makes small talk with me. I always feel welcome in this store! Another thing that makes this place unique is the decor and the hundreds of vintage sodas available for purchase before you get to the counter. I love looking at all the flavors and picking a new drink to go with my bagel. They are closed on Mondays and Tuesdays, so don't make the same mistake as me and plan on going one of those days. My favorites include the nova lox classic sandwich on an egg bagel. Hands down the most perfect lox bagel ever. Just look at the photos to see for yourself. The Beast is also a great pick. Egg, cheese, bacon, and chorizo sausage on a cinnamon sugar bagel with syrup. Its the perfect combination of sweet and savory that satisfies your cravings. Yum. When we went last, we got so many things including a few bagels for later. It came out to around $27, which to me was a great price for 2 sandwiches, 2 drinks and 2 bagels. Hit up Spot on a weekend late morning; around 11:30 or so. While walking in, noticed that there was a bit of a line but knowing that it is a bagel shop assumed the line would move along with some ease. Well, that was a bad assumption. We just wanted two bagels with cream cheese and waited in line for more than 25 minutes to get them. Though the bagels were very good, the line's ineffieciency would be something that would prevent me from heading back to Spot. Though many people were ordering breakfast sandwiches, which I will note all looked really good, the hot sandwiches on bagels are made from scratch so definitely take some time to work up. Customers who purchase individual bagels can grab them from bins and skip the line while others wait in line for the order to be taken and then completed. Again, our bagels were really good and the staff was friendly but the speed at which the line moved, quite frankly, was unacceptable. Hopefully the team at Spot can figure out how to more efficiently get orders taken and completed and then they'll really be on to something. read more

Decided to check this place out when I was in Norwood and I'm glad I did. These bagels are good!! You walk in and you're transported back into an old soda shop, with tons of vintage decor and hundreds of sodas to choose from. You then follow the walkway, where you will end up at the bagel counter. The bagels are freshly made, and are sitting right in front of you. They allow you to pick your own if you want to buy them to go. I wish they had a glass door in front like at supermarkets because I'm a little bit of a germ freak but it's probably fine. Then as you make your way down, you end up at the register. I ordered my go-to, which is a sesame bagel, toasted, with plain cream cheese. I also wanted a coffee, but I think they're going under a renovation because I didn't see a drink menu. But the nice guy assured me they had coffee and he asked how I wanted it. I stuck to a small iced with caramel. Hopefully they get the drink board up soon as I heard another customer was confused. The bagel was very fresh and the cream cheese was great. Coffee was good too, but the bagel was the star of the show (as it should be!). This was a busy "spot" on a weekday, so I can only assume what a Saturday morning looks like here. Not to mention the veggie cream cheese comes loaded with fresh veggie chunks. Inside features a retro candy and soda fountain vibe that instantly transports you back to the 50's. The selection of sodas is unbelievable. There are also a number of bagel sandwiches on the menu but we had to pass because the line was taking too long since they were short staffed. Tip - if you just buy bagels, you can skip the main food ordering line. They also appear to offer some limited selection of coffee and frappes but I didn't see a menu with the options anywhere. Not sure how to review this place... there was a huge line to order. I waited 45 minutes and it was because they seemed understaffed. You can pick bagels on your own and go to the front which slows the line if you want a sandwich. Not sure if it is the only game in town but it was packed. The bagel sandwich was good but not worth the wait. Once you order you do get the food quick. You gotta cancel your morning plans to get a bagel sandwich. I think I was there over an hour. Grill guy didn't seem to care that 30 people or more waiting? One older guy only focused on pouring drinks... who wants drink 1/2 hour before they get the bagel or sandwich? The woman owner running ordering and I think she is still writing orders vs a POS system? But ordering isn't the issue... grill plenty large enough to handle many sandwiches at once? Saw same processing mess months back ... nothing improves ? I do say bagels are very good, prices very fair, sandwiches are very good bagels sandwiches These are not the issues... Issues is processes, not proper help, not sufficient help doing right things in right process... and whatever help is there working are working in slow Mode.
