Currently on a bagel kick and this one fell short. Parking sucks, I had to park at the apartment complex next door. I'm really big on customer service and they lack any sort. No one was greeted upon arrival and the lady was very short (maybe she was overwhelmed, idk). Ordered "The Standard" on everything bagel which is bacon, egg and cheese. Eggs are made to order with Cooper sharp American cheese folded in. The smoked bacon was delicious and cooked well. Bagel was so tough, I almost only ate the inside. Hashbrowns were decent, wouldn't pay $2.25 for it again. Vanilla bean latte was also delicious. read more

Unfortunately, I can't recommend Spread Bagelry. The bagels were extremely dense and doughy--not what I'd expect from a place that specializes in them. They didn't taste fresh, which was surprising since we visited early on a Saturday morning. We ordered an everything bagel and a rosemary bagel, both with jalapeño cream cheese. The total came to $13 before tip, which felt steep for two bagels with cream cheese--especially considering the quality. The cream cheese lacked flavor, and overall, the experience just didn't live up to the price point. I won't be returning. Spread Bagelry serves up a solid breakfast experience. I ordered an onion bagel, toasted with jalapeño cream cheese and bacon. The bacon was thick, smoky, and absolutely delicious--definitely the highlight of my sandwich. The jalapeño cream cheese had great flavor, but there was barely any on the bagel, which made it a little dry. The bagel itself had that perfect chewy texture you'd expect from a wood-fired bake, though I was hoping for a bit more onion flavor to come through. There's smaller indoor and outdoor seating available, which makes it a nice spot to sit and enjoy your meal, but it is on the pricier side for a bagel. Overall, a good experience--I'd go back and probably just buy a dozen with cream cheese to go and customize at home. read more

It's not outrageously special, but it's pretty good, and definitely hits the spot when you want something quick, filling, and satisfying. My boyfriend is obsessed with the Carnegie sandwich--it's super filling, and has become his go-to every time we come. I usually go for the avocado toast, which is a nice lighter option. They have a decent variety of bagels, but if you get in later in the morning, the bagel options can be super limited. Always sad when you can't get the one you were craving (the rosemary olive oil is my favorite)! Heads up: on weekends (especially beach days), this place can get slammed. so I would recommend to order ahead when it's sunny and busy. Trust me, it'll save you a long wait. This place is awesome! Reminded me of some legendary bagel place in Montreal, but in some ways even better! You can see them cooking the bagels directly inside the shop. Flavors are absolutely wonderful, with plenty of different unique spreads to try. Definitely recommend the salted egg bagel with the pistachio honey spread. Plenty of seating inside and out. The nova scramble sandwich was a hit! My boyfriend absolutely loved it. My egg and cheese was just alright (only reason for the 4 stars) I got it on a salt egg bagel which i thought the bagel was good I just didn't love their eggs. To me they had a strange taste I didn't even finish half of it. The cinnamon raisin bagel with cream cheese was delicious though! Definitely a different type of bagel they are thinner than the normal bagel I'm used to but after researching I found they do make them a different way which I'm not opposed to! The weekend line was long as this bakery claiming to bring the taste of Montreal down to Charleston. Line management was not particularly good and I waited a while so people could order slowly one by one at a register while a bunch of other employees didn't do a whole lot. It was interesting to watch them making the bagels; with the wood oven right there you can't much question where your bagel came from. I took a half dozen to go. The resultant bagel was a little thicker in texture and slightly sweeter than most bagels. The honey used in making may be a concern for some; though I have a mild allergy and these bagels didn't bother me. Ordering a bagel with flavorings is wise; their poppy seed bagel has an enormous amount of seeds, the rosemary olive oil is quite rich, and the whole wheat bagels are just sweetened enough to be tasty. Some options for a fresh sandwich were available, but not in my plan for the day. It was certainly an interesting enough experience to come back. read more

Staff was rude and complained about having customers to my face. As someone who has worked in food service this is not the way you act especially when you're still open for 20 minutes. There's like three main bagel places that I will go on any weekday and spreads is one of them. It's a quick and easy place to go. I love their cinnamon raisin bagel, but I'm also just a plain bagel kinda of gal so I don't usually get a bagel sandwich. I usually just get a bagel with cream cheese sometimes I'll switch it up and get a flavored Cream cheese, but I like to stick to the basics. Parking isn't a big problem there but on the weekends it can get busy so just a heads up for sure probably gets busy. usually just take it to go, it can get a little bit busy and congested in that area. The people are kind and patient there. You can also place a pick up order which is helpful for those busy days. It's clean and cute In there. I tried the Espresso with Banana and Brown Sugar Cream coffee and Tahini and Oat Milk Latte, which doesn't sound great but believe me it was DEVINE! For the bagels, I tried the Whipped Butter with Mango and Serrano Pepper bagel, and a Sesame Seed Bagel with cream cheese and fresh strawberries. She is such a genuine, funny, and congenial person and that is reflected in the positive, upbeat atmosphere of the restaurant. The food is legit and consistently good. Run...don't walk!! I came around 11 am and they handed me a bagel straight out of their oven. The rosemary sea salt bagel is absolutely delightful and was so fresh I ate it immediately in my car, couldn't even make it home! Definitely recommend ordering ahead because they get VERY busy and the waits can get quite long. There is not a lot of parking here, you may have to park behind the apartments in the back, just make sure it's in the retail parking spots. Day 1 I ordered the Roast Chicken BLT on a toasted Salted Egg bagel. OMG. The roasted garlic mayo combined with the thick, crispy slices of bacon, juicy chicken all on a wood-fired bagel? Yes, please! Day 2 I ordered the Roast Chicken Cheesesteak on a toasted Salted Egg bagel. The truffled mushrooms were amazing and combined with the grilled red onion??? Sooooo good. I was told that they have NY bagels. These "bagels" are not even in the ballpark of being a NY bagel. They are too solid (dough needs to rise much more), they cook them with some stuff on the bottom which gives them an odd taste. Ordered veggie cream cheese where they had actually cooked the veggies before adding it to the cream cheese. There owners clearly don't know a single thing about a New York bagel because this is not even close. It was so disgusting that I ended up throwing it out. Such a disappointment.. read more

$14 filled me up until dinner! I was desperate for a bagel and had been thinking about where to go all week. I read previous reviews on Yelp about this place and the raves were spot on, at least for me. Ordered The Standard on a rosemary sea salt bagel with eggs, smoked bacon, and subbed smoked cheddar for the Cooper Sharp. I was expecting NOT what I ended up with, and I was pretty impressed, to say the least. Two people could have shared this breakfast sandwich...seriously, it was huge for the $10 price tag. Drip coffee was good despite needing a bit more cream. The only issue I took with the place was the inability to 'fix' my own coffee, but it wasn't a deal-breaker by any means once I tasted that rosemary sea salt bagel. I'm originally from the Tri-state area/NY/NJ/CT where bagels are a thing, so me saying this kicked a** is no joke ;-) Service was quick despite the line I hopped on the end of. I sat outside, so the ambiance was probably not the same as the vibe in the store. Next time, I'll dine in. HIGHLY recommend and can't wait to return again myself. read more

It can get pretty crowded on the weekends so either order ahead or be prepared to wait in line. Usually, the like goes quick, and you get your food pretty fast.
