Brisket, Ribs, Pulled Pork, Mac and Coleslaw

Why 3 stars? Because the other reviews are pretty dead-on - it's just okay. --- --- --- Full disclosure: I came here because I was given a gift card. I actually had a gift card for here and for a clothing store from Christmas, so I figured I would just make an afternoon of it. It turns out, I wasn't too dissuaded from the 3-star average. I thought the ribs were definitely the star of the show. The coleslaw was solid, and the hot rolls were a delightful treat. Everything else? It was the quality you'd expect from something like a Holiday Inn catering menu. The pulled pork, brisket, mac-n-cheese and coconut cream pie were all very forgettable. And one big takeaway here was: if you haven't been here, this is a counter service, where you go through the line with a tray and people serve you what you order. A really puzzling thing is that the glass/plastic was either fogged up or just too dirty to see through for the side dishes. It wasn't great for the meat either, but at least you could see what was on the other side. For that hot sides, it was like trying to see through a steam room. There's too much amazing BBQ in Houston for me to want to return.

Most of it was eaten by the time photo was taken.

The food is pretty good and decently priced. The baked beans seemed a little lacking in flavor. The reason for the 5 stars is for the okra. It's hard enough to find okra but the okra here was made fresh and some of the best okra I've had.

Like others have said: get the brisket, it's amazing, piping with juiciness and a perfect flavor! Yum! They know how to do it right here. Could've used some spicy Bbq sauce, but you can't have everything. Mac n cheese side was ok, not cheesy enough for me. The potato salad was really delicious and one of the best I ever had. For real! Service was self-serve, get a tray, plates and silverware, and order from each station. Everyone was nice and friendly and getting our food was easy. Nice decor throughout the restaurant, you definitely know you're in a Texas BBQ place! I'd return here again if ever in town and in need of a brisket fix. Yum!

Mudder telling me that the only reason they serve us on trays and we don't eat on them is because if we did we would be barbarians!

Brisket was over the top! I mother had lean and I had marbled. We could have split a sandwich! The only problem that I had was they had no spicy sauce and I grew up on Randy Martin's BBQ sauce. There will be none other than that!

Alright, look-it. You're not going to like your whole family...so you can't expect to like a whole BBQ joint. Let me explain: 1. The meat is awesome (we tried brisket, sausage, and ribs). Being able to call your cut of brisket is great, too. 2. The sides though. They were ok. That's all I can say. That's all I will say. One notable exception is the bread - get it fresh out of the oven - it's great!. I'll say it again, few things are perfect, but the bbq is tasty. Simple math.

I did not care for this barbecue at all, I had the sausage and brisket plate with beans and macaroni and cheese. The macaroni and cheese tasted like it came straight out of a box the beans were ok. The rolls look good but they did not taste good at all it was horrible, I was so disappointed and will not return I would not recommend.

Place has a nice bbq joint feel to it but the food was only mediocre. Tea was really good though.

However, from the lackluster flavors, poor marbling of the beat, and lack of air conditioning in HOUSTON, I was left feeling quite disappointed. The main star of any Barbecue joint should be the meats that have been meticulously worked on for many hours. When the star of the show are the sides, you have a problem. The baked beans, mac and cheese, collared greens, and Brussels sprouts are delicious, as expected. The brisket was absolutely dried to the point where I couldn't tell if I was wiping my mouth with a napkin or the brisket. Yes, I ordered it fatty. The ribs were terribly marbled. If one bite was a dry portion of the rib, the other bite was an entire glob of fat. Perhaps that's how ribs are sometimes, but my experiences with many other Barbecue joints in Houston were not so much that. Take your hard-earned money and try some of the local mama/papa joints Houston has to offer.

A 2-year Michellin star BBQ joint was a great way to spend a Saturday afternoon. My friends and I got there around 10am and were lucky enough to grab a number. The number secures your spot in line but don't worry if you show up and they run out, there's a spot on the porch where the non-number line starts. We ordered moist brisket, garlic sausage, and the beef rib. For sides, we went with mac and cheese and beans. Everything was superb! The brisket melted in your mouth, no knife needed. The sausage had a nice snap to it and get great flavor. The bark on the beef rib was *chef's kiss*. The mac and cheese was creamy while the beans had a nice sweet and tangy flavor. The service is also great! While we were eating, staff would regularly check all of the tables to check if anyone needed anything. The staff taking our order also chatted with us about other BBQ spots we've been to. Everything was such a great experience and the quality of the food is 100/10!

All of the employees were very friendly and helpful. My fiancée is a lover of BBQ so he wanted to order almost everything on the menu. We ordered brisket, garlic sausage, pork ribs, the whole chicken, baked beans, Mac and cheese, and apple cobbler. My favorites were the pork ribs and apple cobblers. Great value for time/money I stopped in at 3rd coast BBQ on a Thursday at lunchtime. There was a little parking, but not a massive amount. There was almost no line at all when we got there - I think we waited for about 10 min & waited another 10 for our food. The food itself was really good! They had a large menu & I thought the prices were very reasonable. For 3 meats and 3 sides it was about $50. We got two ribs, brisket (mixed) and the cheddar and jalapeño sausage links. Everything was pretty yummy. I thought the brisket was nice and tender while still having some great flavor. Both the fatty and lean brisket were pretty good. The ribs were super tender and the flavor was smoky and sweet. The sausage links were decent. I will say the food wasn't quote corkscrew level, but was still pretty solid. The ambiance here was really great. I liked the outdoor patio vibe & really homey feel. I liked the tin roof (it rained while we were there & I loved the sound!) & there was plenty of seating. Overall, great experience. Especially with a short wait and decent prices - you get pretty solid BBQ. I'll be back here for sure

This did not surprise me and it made sense why none could ever top them. They have wonderful customer service, the feel is very cabin like, family style food, and clean inside and outside. I have stopped by several times over the years and haven't given them a proper review and it was about time. Their brisket is exceptional. What I immediately appreciated about Tejas is how they are unique with their sides. Sides are important. Most barbecue spots across the board have the same sides but each make them a bit different. Tejas offers a unique side, that no one has or any restaurant in general, their Carrot soufflé, it is addicting. I usually order another to go. Their chille relleno sausage is phenomenal. Went back about two weeks ago on a whim and I've already been back twice since. The BBQ is legitimately exceptional now. The burnt ends are amazing--tender, smoky, and packed with flavor. The cheesesteak is awesome, the turkey is surprisingly moist and tasty, and the overall quality is way higher than I remembered. A couple small notes: the poblano sausage was a bit too cheesy for my taste, and the mac and cheese has crushed tortilla chips on top that feel unnecessary (though the base is still solid). Must-orders: Get the chicharrones and queso and ask for a side of Tajín to sprinkle on top--it takes it to another level. The jalapeños at the condiment station are pure fire and delicious. They also have a full bar, so chilling with a cold beer and some top-notch BBQ is the move. The chocolate truffles at the counter are fantastic--you really can't go wrong with any of them. They also have specials if you order four or more items, which is a nice touch. Plenty of seating inside or outside, and there's ample parking right across the street. If you haven't been in a while (or ever), do yourself a favor and give them another shot. I'm glad I did. Solid 4 stars.
