In town to visit family and we decided to visit Goode Company Kitchen for some seafood. The service was excellent! I would have asked the server to sit down with as she was so like-able. Ordered friend shrimp and oysters with grits and fried okra. Loved the grits and fried okra but the fried shrimp seemed like it was frozen as the crust fell off when I picked it up. It was tasty and I ate it so it was Goode! Also, ordered an iced tea that was fresh and clean tasting so their equipment is well maintained. You can tell if any restaurants do not clean their dispensers as the tea tastes bitter or is milky looking. Why do I know this? You ask? Because my Dad was a coffee/tea delivery man and when I was a child he use to take me on Saturdays to run his route. We visited several Luby's Cafeteria's where he made sure the dispensers were clean and that they were making the tea properly. He showed me how he used the brushes to clean the tubes, dispenser handle and used special cleaning material on the inside. We came here to celebrate an early Mother's Day, as I didn't want to be in the chaos on Sunday, and my parents were in town, along with other family! It was a win win scenario. This has been on my list for a while, as I've had great experiences at other Goode company sister companies. I was excited to try Mexican, and they didn't disappoint. We made reservations ahead of time, so we were seated pretty quickly. Kevin our server was fantastic! He greeted our table promptly as each member arrived, filling our drinks, bringing chips and salsa, and then making some suggestions with the menu. They had brunch and lunch available. I went with the lunch, and was super happy with my choices. I got one of the combos that came with 2 cheese enchiladas and a crispy tacos. I changed out the cheese for beef enchiladas. Firstly, the chips and salsa are super fresh, I imagine made in house. But the same for the tortillas. When my food came, I was in heaven! The crispy taco, I just devoured, I couldn't put it down. The beef had great seasoning, the taco was super crispy and had all the fresh toppings! 10 out of 10! The enchiladas came topped with a chili queso, and I always get double beans no rice, bc I like to make nachos out of all the food. Everything was just so good! Nice atmosphere and great service, but the food was mid. They brought fresh chips to the table with a warm red salsa. That was our first time experiencing warm salsa! The server could tell it wasn't our thing, so she brought us the salsa verde to try. It was amazing! It ended up being our favorite thing at the restaurant. We ordered the made to order guac, and it did not taste fresh. We didn't eat much of it. I got the carnitas and my hubby ordered a combo platter. We've been to Goode Company Kitchen & Cantina in The Woodlands many times, but this was our first time ever coming for weekend brunch--and honestly, I didn't even know brunch was a thing here. After a Saturday morning Costco run, we decided to stop in for lunch and were pleasantly surprised to see a menu packed with breakfast-style options. I ordered the carne asada with green chile pork, two eggs over easy, rice, and beans. It was beautifully presented and tasted just as good as it looked. I also had a cold brew coffee with cream that was crisp, refreshing, and hit the spot. My wife went the lunch route with fish tacos--redfish and shrimp--and said the redfish was especially delicious. She added a side salad, which was surprisingly really, really good. Goode Company consistently delivers great meals, solid service, and thoughtful presentation. My First mistake was assuming this restaurant was authentic Mexican. For the record, it is not; it is Tex-Mex. I'll also preface my review with the fact that I am not a fan of tex-mex... The restaurant itself is very nice - its spacious and immersive. Lots of windows, allowing for natural light to stream in creating a nice ambiance. Our server got us started with complimetary salsa. It came out piping hot, steam coming off the bowl. I personally was not a fan of the salsa - I prefer my salsa to be tangy and refreshing, this salsa was savory/smokey almost like a tomato sauce. We got the No. 2 and the Tacos De Mariscos. On the bright side, the portion sizes were huge, as the plates come with rice and beans. As someone who does not like Tex-Mex I'll refrain from commenting too much on my meal (the No. 2 ) as I realize I may not be the best judge. I ate it, felt indifferent about it. But I will say, the one thing I truly enjoyed were the Shrimp Tacos. Absolutely delicious. The elote... not good, more Tex than Mex. As for the service, everything started off well, but got bumpy towards the end of the meal. We placed our order and got our food quickly. However, our server practically disappeared once we got our food and it became incredibly difficult to get service. I tried to order jalepeno slices, to which the server refused and told me would be too spicy for me and gave me a "spicy salsa" instead. The "spicy salsa" was NOT SPICY and he was no where to be found, so I didn't get my jalepeno slices until i was already 75% done with my meal... I'm on the carnivore diet so I chose the 1/2 lb beef fajitas and told the bartender, Ryan, that I didn't need any sides except for sour cream. He recommended I get the a la carte fajitas which saved me $$ (and increased his tip). They were cooked to absolute perfection medium rare and were so tender I wondered if they had served me the filet fajitas by mistake. They were juicy as well. I visited Goode Company Kitchen to celebrate a friend's birthday, and unfortunately, the overall experience was very disappointing due to the poor customer service. When we arrived, we had a reservation, but no one helped us find our table. I asked several times where the rest of our party was seated, and no one gave us a clear answer. I ended up walking around the restaurant by myself until I finally found my friends. Our server also seemed unhappy to be serving us. Her facial expressions and attitude made us feel unwelcome throughout the meal. I ordered a salad and specifically asked multiple times if it was spicy because I cannot eat spicy food. I was repeatedly assured that it wasn't. However, after just a few bites, my face turned red and my mouth was burning. My friends immediately noticed something was wrong. Only after seeing my reaction did the server say, "It's a little spicy." I asked her to take the salad back because I couldn't eat it. She insisted on bringing me another one, and only then explained that the salad comes with two additional sauces that could be used instead. That information should have been shared from the beginning, especially after I clearly explained my concern several times. To make matters worse, when it was time for the birthday dessert, the server dropped the slice of cake on the table and walked away without even saying "Happy Birthday." It may seem like a small gesture, but it meant a lot since we were there to celebrate. Instead, it reflected the same lack of care we experienced throughout the evening. I seriously considered speaking with the manager because I was very disappointed. However, since we were celebrating my friend's birthday, I didn't want to create an uncomfortable situation or ruin her special evening. My friends could clearly tell something was wrong just by looking at my reaction. I'm sharing this review because I genuinely hope the restaurant improves its customer service. I believe the manager should provide additional customer service training. Guests should feel welcomed, listened to, and treated with kindness. It may seem odd to say that my favorite salad is that a Mexican food restaurant. I can say that I have never been disappointed in the 1836 salad here. Mesquite grilled chicken breast on mixed greens with candy pecans, red onions, Mexican cheese. Mmmmmmmm good. I leave off the corn and the tomatoes. If you were feeling a little less healthy, I would suggest you try any of their enchiladas or perhaps their chicken and cheese quesadillas. Woww!! I haven't been here in years so it was like I was trying everything for the first time again and the food was absolutely amazing. Immediately once seated chips and salsa was brought out and was overall decent. It's served warm and is more on the thin side and has a very smoky taste. When I bought my leftover salsa home and refrigerated it I thought it tasted better cold in my opinion. Also, I don't know if the chips here are always super greasy but as you can see in my photo they were so shiny and full of grease which I didn't love, but at least they're fresh chips. For my main entree, I ordered the combination fajita with a "jumbo" grilled shrimp add on and every single thing was delicious and flavorful. The meats were cooked perfectly and the beef just melts in your mouth. The grilled onions were also sautéed down perfectly. My only complaint on this platter was that the shrimp were not jumbo and rather normal sized. They were still delicious but for the add on price for 3 I would not orderagain. The fajitas also came with a homemade beef empanada that was so good. The flour tortillas were homemade as well and delicious. Everything was just seasoned well and tasty. As for the rice and beans, nothing stood out and I honestly didn't have to have it. I almost forgot that I also ordered a small side of queso that was very delicious. It might not look spectacular but it was so flavorful. For dessert I got the tres leches which had a good texture but to me just tasted like condensed milk was the only milk used and it was very sweet. With the Goode name already having a great reputation, this cantina continues to impress me every time I visit. The queso is smooth and the sliced jalapeños add a nice kick. I also ordered the tortilla soup. It came with several side condiments to add which I loved, such as cilantro, avocado, diced onions. Pricy Tex-mex, good food, nice staff, and good deco. Looking for the quintessential Tex-mex place, got recommended this place from the receptionist. Made the trek to give them a try. The decoration of this place is very upscale. Clean signage, nice seating area, an open kitchen area to watch the chefs work. Our server was very nice but also somewhat pushy when it came to up-sales. It was always an ask to make a portion bigger, add something on, or include an extra item. This isn't unheard of, but it became very noticeable after the first few attempts. We got the everything guac, the carnitas with two of their bacon wrapped shrimps, and a piece of pecan pie. Food came out quickly but paced well. The everything guac was good, but a note. The thimbleful of blue crab and gulf shrimp are very much local sea life. It's noticeably gamier than northern fish, which gives it a briny fishy flavor which is normally attributed to bad fish up north. So the extra for those tiny portions of protein was not worth it. Same goes for the bacon wrapped shrimps. And for 5 bucks a shrimp it's a very pricy portion for seafood one is not use to. The bacon was crisp and smoky though, so that was good. The carnitas were very tender, seasoned well and were pared with fresh corn tortillas and a solid salsa verde and creama. Those with some pickled and fresh onion made for very good bites. The rice and beans were made fresh and were seasoned well. Lots of flavor from the beans, not so much from the rice, combined though they complimented each other and made a very solid bite. Girlfriend really enjoyed the pecan pie. Was made correct and she ate the entire piece. I did manage to get a couple of the pecans, and the filling was sweet but not saccharine. Because they know they have a good quality product, they charge accordingly. The three items with add-ons came up to 70 bucks. It's a lot of money for what they are asking, but it's good. Just not good enough to say " you need to come here". It's an option for the area, but it's high price with pushy wait staff. Avoid the seafood unless you're use to local fish, and enjoy. read more

We had family visiting from out of town and decided to take them to Goode Company Kitchen & Cantina--and they absolutely did not disappoint! One of my favorite things about this place is that they offer family-style meals designed for groups of 4-6, which makes it so easy (and fun) to share a bit of everything. It came loaded with beef fajitas, jalapeño cheese smoked sausage, Texas quail, jumbo shrimp, and pork carnitas, all served with handmade tortillas, guacamole, sour cream, salsa, and more. Service was good, interior was nice, and quality and quantity of the food was great. I got the classic #2 with a chicken taco Al carbon, chicken enchilada, and a tamale, rice and beans included. That was the best tamale I've eaten. My friend's salad was tasty too and beautiful. I can't remember the name, but there was fruit on it. Wife and I went in about 7:30 chips and salsa came out quick the 1st chips were good but greasy, we asked for another basket we received a new basket they were warmer but about as greasy as the 1st. The salsa with roasted tomatoes was really good just a bit thin. The wife's Carnitas were tender but dry and the seasoning maybe the marinade had a weird flavor to much citrus and cumin, it was getting close to closing so I wondered how long they had been prepped if they were supposed cooked fresh they were not because they were cleaning the grill, when we were being sat next to it. The fresh flour tortillas had been sitting in the warmer for to long as well they were dry and powdery, and the grill onions had an odd paraffin taste overall her dish was a 2 out of 5.. Neither of us were impressed with the flavor profile used. The service was ok, I had to swipe our sliver-ware from the next table so, the waitress did check in a couple times and got refills, and she was nice, but I definitely got the vibe they were closing. Why 5 stars? Because this was some of the best Tex-Mex I've ever had. --- --- --- I have probably written 20 reviews of Tex-Mex restaurants that go a little like this: "My meal was an enjoyable one, but I remain mystified as to how so many Tex-Mex restaurants can survive in Houston, when they are all pretty much the exact same place." As it turns out, Good Company is incredibly rare exception! So much of the experience had unique elements, but most importantly, the quality of the food was just a notch or three above the rest. First off, I loved the style/vibe/design of the place. There was so many nice touches - even the bathroom was really nice. But you don't come here for the bathroom, you come here for the food. And the food was excellent. Our go-to at every Tex-Mex place is to order chips & queso, along with fajitas. That's what we did here and it was all excellent. My one piece of criticism is that the deep fried chips (or whatever they were) that came with the queso, left a bit to be desired. They almost disintegrated as soon as they hit your lips. But the fajitas were everything I could have ever wanted. The caveat is that I order the higher quality fajitas (filet) which were pricey, but absolutely worth it. My wife ordered the beef and chicken combo and the regular beef fajitas were pretty meh. Do the upgrade and don't ask questions. They also offered chimichurri with the filet fajitas, which I don't think I've ever experienced with fajitas before. This made them even better, and again, added a little layer of uniqueness. The only place in our eyes in all of Greater Houston that compares to Goode is Candente. But Candente is about an hour away from us in Houston, so when we are looking for good Tex-Mex in Montgomery County from now on, there's really no reason to go anywhere else. read more

Our server tried. He really did. But honestly couldn't make up for how disappointed we were in this dining experience. First, we came early and the host was not even paying attention to us and ignored us for a sec when we walked in. Then we asked her a couple questions at the table and she didn't know anything. Next, they really have no frozen options for beverages which makes absolutely no sense being a Tex-Mex restaurant or whatever they wanna call this place. They ended up blending a margarita or something up for us which was basically just ice and some strawberry flavoring and a tiny bit of alcohol. Nacho cheese and chips. I love this place. It has such amazing food. The reason I gave it a 1 star is because since I moved to the area almost 2 years ago, the same meal I get every single time has no joke, gone up $5 in 2 years. It's only cheese enchiladas, rice and beans. $23 for cheese enchiladas is ridiculous. I was a regular customer there too! Having my bill go from around $70 to over $100 now for lunch is just ridiculous. There are other mexican restaurants that only cost me and my family at most $60 for all of us to eat and it's just as good. If you don't want to lose your customers, lower your prices and quit increasing them every 3 months. It really makes them angry. read more

Overall we loved our first experience at Goode Company! We had made a reservation and were seated immediately upon arrival. If I had known about the cute patio set up ahead of time, I would have definitely requested to be out there. Our kids would have enjoyed that. (Next time!!) My five stars for service is based on our server Stephanie. She was an amazing server. Very attentive to our table. Super amazing server. Our only gripe was one of our Pitcher of margaritas was definitely lacking in the extra Grand Marnier. We ordered two pitchers and the first one came out amazing. The second was lacking so we asked to make sure it actually contained it. Our server brought us the shot to add to our pitcher. But Mario the "Bar manager", came to our table and tried to GRAB our half drunk pitcher to dump it and make a fresh one because he "watched the bartender add the extra Grand Marnier". It clearly didn't taste the same. Also he was EXTREMELY rude. Why would you grab something off our table that's half drunk already and proceed to walk away with it before even explaining yourself. We had to ask him what he was doing. He then sat and WATCHED our table the entire evening. On the phone making phone calls, just being a total creep. Proceeded to follow us to the front door as we are leaving. Like sir. How uncomfortable and unprofessional. We saw the way you treated our server. We absolutely know the second margarita was not up to par with the first it was CLEAR compared to the orange tint from the first one. I've been in the food/service industry for 8+years. This manager is totally unacceptable. He explained after we asked what he was doing that he'd just throw out the entire pitcher and give us a fresh one. So you're willing to go over $72 in food costs over a $5 charge? Doesn't make any sense at all. We had zero problem paying the the "extra shot". Mario isn't fit for manager of any position. For someone who is a bar manager he was never in the bar, just watched our table the entirety of our visit. read more

We arrived, were shown to our table and my wife commented there were flies everywhere. I swatted 4 flies in less than a minute, I called for the manager and when he arrived I pointed out there were 4 more flies on the table we could see. He offered twirling fly fans, but at this point we were grossed out and left. read more
