I was surprised at the crummy little location it's located in. But when I entered in it was all modern and clean. However, I was assigned to a "traveling" dentist (one who is called in for new "marks"). She was hurried and made sure she found lots of problems with my mouth that needed fixed. She didn't really have any patience to answer my questions, and the dental assistant was berated by her for not "knowing" exactly what she wanted. Very unprofessional all around. The receptionist was very friendly and tried to be as helpful as possible. No Dr. Tehrani or any other regular staffed dentist around. It's common now days for practices like this to operate like a drive through (by the dentists). read more

Being new to California for less than a year now, I still hadn't found a dentist for my regular check-ups and cleanings. Of course, thing happen in life to force the situation, and a broken filling and cavity meant a new dentist was necessary. Originally I found a deal for Spring Dental online for a cleaning and x-ray. Without insurance, I was concerned about costs and the legitimacy of any office when it came to the costs. Well let me tell you...not only did Dr. Tehrani do an awesome and thorough job, but she was very accomodating when it came to finances. In fact, when additional work was suggested, Dr. Tehrani offered options, ideas, and even discounts. This all comes today because unfortunately I was need of another filling repair from a previous horrible dentist. Dr. Tehrani's office, Angie, called me back, and took me the next day, and fixed my problem. Better yet, offered the same phenominal serivce and discounted rate, without insurance. Okay, so I'm not sure what the costs are out there, but this office is excellent. As someone before me stated, don't be fooled by the fact they are in a tight-fitting mini-shopping area; the inside is modern, clean, and impressive to say the least. One of my greatest dental experiences since childhood. I highly recommend Spring Dental. Dr. Tehrani is super gentle, caring, and knowledgeable. She takes the time to explain everything, and you're given all, and I mean ALL your treatment options, which is nice. You're not pushed to do anything. I went to Dr. Tehrani exploring my options of getting a crown for my implant. I drove all the way from southbay to walnut creek because I had heard of her work. I had avoided seeing a dentist for a long time... I'd had a great one in another city, and when I moved back to the Bay Area I had lousy luck finding one that both took my insurance, and didn't suck. I ended up checking out Dr. Tehrani - because of the other review on Yelp, of all things - and honestly, I'd be seeing her now even if my insurance didn't cover it. While the office is in an odd - though convenient - location, everything inside is super clean, modern and professional. The most I've waited past my appointment time is 3 minutes or so. Dr. Tehrani once kept me waiting in the chair for a few minutes while another patient needed something additional... and she apologized for it - as if my time were important too. How common is that? I've never felt I was being up-sold on anything...just shown what needed to be done, and what my options were. I trust her professional judgment implicitly and all the work I've had done has been well-executed and painless. It's a small office and everyone there is respectful of each other and of their patients. Hope, at the front desk, is organized, professional, funny and friendly. After a couple of years of being unhappy with my WC dentist I went looking for a replacement. My previous dentist had very expensive prices and every appointment included a hard sell on cosmetic dentistry although I had repeatedly told him I was not interested. I saw an ad for Spring Dental, checked it out on the internet and read the reviews before making an appointment. I am more than happy with with my first two visits there. Dr. Tehrani has created a beautiful and soothing atmosphere with state of the art equipment. She is very skilled but very gentle. And I was thrilled to find that her prices were much more reasonable than my previous dentist. I recommend her highly. Not once in either of my dental appointments here was cosmetic dentistry mentioned. I have only one criticism of the office... it is highly "perfumed" with air fragrances and I find that a challenge for my allergies. I recommend that they discontinue this for the comfort of patients. read more

This practice is truly unique. As I've mentioned in other reviews, I am petrified of the dentist. Part of the reason for that is a horribly sensitive gag reflex, that always acts up during various procedures, and even something as simple as X-ray imaging. During my exam, my sensors were especially reactive, and I had several episodes of gagging, nearly vomiting several times. The response of THE ENTIRE STAFF was nothing short of heart warming. From the front desk, showing up with water, to back rubs, to encouragement, hand holding, another technician coming in suggesting and assisting with numbing , and so much more. In the past, I'd been mortified and extremely embarrassed at my lack of control over my own mouth, but they made me feel so comfortable, with constant reassurance this is a common problem and there was nothing to be embarrassed about. Grace, was like a ninja, running back and forth, making the whole experience as short and comfortable as possible. Further, I know all too well (Unfortunately) of the adverse conditions and harsh medico-legal climate in todays world of health care. It makes it difficult to practice with any form of something resembling common sense, without fearing a lawsuit. I felt Dr. Tehrani is one of the rare providers who puts the patient first and proposes a diagnostic and treatment plan that is truly necessary. I have always been a minimalist , only wanting what is absolutely evidence based and quality care, and she delivered without disappointment. To take it a step further, not only did she propose only what was absolutely necessary, but by the time the exam was complete, the front desk had already called my insurance company to discuss the necessity of this treatment plan, and quoted a price that was A FRACTION of what I'd previously been quoted. Rather than be responsible for thousands of dollars, my insurance had agreed (no doubt as a result of the legwork done by the staff) to cover all costs, leaving me only with a very reasonable co pay. There are practices and practioners who focus on numbers, and those who focus on people. I have no doubt , every staff member at this practice cares about people. It is evident that Dr. Tehrani has a heart for people and loves what she does. As long as I live in the Bay, she will be my dentist. read more

Been going there for over a decade, with a two year break when was away. Everything they did was perfect. Everything I did when I was away, broke and they fixed. For a tooth that a fancy doctor elsewhere wanted to pull five years ago (and another didn't bother to crown since it was too difficult twelve years before that), they instead refered me to a better endodontist, who did an extension (Chice Endo, Dr. Choi) , and then they spent a great deal of effort which included sending back the crwon until it's perfect to make sure this time it's right (the angle of the tooth and the limited depth were something no other doctor wanted to touch). That was five years ago and I am very grateful to them. Wonderful team of doctors. read more

I saw Dr. Christallyn Tan and she was fantastic. She is very friendly and sweet and I really liked her cleanings. I've had some dentists that gave me cleanings that felt too gentle, like they barely did anything, and others who were too aggressive, but hers were just right. I had to get a deep cleaning the first time I went and she warned me that I might feel some pain after the anesthetic wore off, but I was fine; no pain. I also had to get a few fillings and I feel that she was really careful and took her time to do them right. When I moved and had to get a new dentist, he noticed and complimented her work. He told me my fillings were done really well. It's been a couple of years now and I've never had any issues with my fillings. I like that she didn't push any products on me. She seemed really knowledgeable and answered my questions and explained the reasons for her recommendations. I think she is a really diligent dentist and it'd be nice if I could still go to her for my cleanings. read more

I had trouble finding a dentist that would accept my insurance, DeltaCare. I went through the list that the insurance gave me and this Dentist was the only one on it, in the Walnut Creek/Pleasant Hill area, that had any decent comments. Really glad I wound up going here. . Office is in kind of a nondescript strip mall but don't be fooled by the modest exterior, the interior is very modern, clean, well designed and very comfortable. The staff is very friendly and sympathetic and very professional, sometimes these qualities don't always come in the same package. . Dr. Tehrani is excellent, I felt I was in good hands right from the start and never felt otherwise afterward. I had a cleaning done which was better then I had had for years. I had some old and large fillings replaced and the replacements were formed perfectly. She was very diligent in making sure my teeth clamped down naturally. . Very happy with Dr. Tehrani. I switched to her because my previous dentist made you wait 45 minutes in his office before being seen. She is quick and efficient. I don't care for the teeth cleaning where they spray high powered cold water on your teeth, so I asked Dr. Tehrani if she could clean the old fashioned way (with the scraper). She said that was fine, and to just remind her of that with the next cleaning. She has seen my kids as well, and is very good with them. read more

Everyone in my family goes here, and I WON'T HAVE IT ANY OTHER WAY. The rest of the staff is amazing as well! (Angie at the front desk is awesomely helpful all of the time!) Dr. Tehrani personally called me regarding my daughter's overgrown gums, due to her braces. She called my daughter's orthodontist to discuss the matter, and followed up with me via email and phone. I have never experienced so much personal attention from any Dentist before, and it's so refreshing to know that she's looking out for me and my family! Glad once again that I read the yelp reviews. After deciding to find a dentist close to home I notice Spring Dental and looked them up. No regrets. Very helpful and professional staff. I asked about Invisalign and the dentist said that if I wanted to look into it the price was $4500 but there was no overcrowding with my teeth so it was not necessary. I am terrified of the dentist!!! Terrified!! Plus, I hate shoveling out money. Ive been to Spring Dental twice now, once for my initial exam and again for fillings. Dr. Tan is AMAZING!! She was so patient, explained everything, made extra precautions to ensure I didn't feel ANY pain and was so thorough! She spent extra time ensuring proper care of my teeth! Also, when certain items weren't covered by my insurance the office staff was knowledgeable and made really great suggestions to help me financially and broke the costs down in a timeline that worked great! The office is clean, with updated equipment... That they actually use-to be sure they did a comprehensive examine and treatment. This office does not offer gas, but I was prescribed Valium to offset my anxiety...not sure I even needed it. Like I said, Dr.Tan was beyond gentle and had a really personable approach. read more

I was so pleased with my treatment and especially with my dentist. Until I was presented with my taylor-made dentures. It was almost impossible for me to use them. After paying $2,000 I walked away saddened because "there's nothing we can do for you." I even requested they use my last dentist's lab because their work was far superior to the one SD relies on. I didn't know what to do so I walked away. read more

Though Dr. Tehrani was nice to work with, I was dissatisfied with my experience there for a few reasons and switched to Pleasant Hill Smiles. Here are my reasons for dissatisfaction: 1) She recommended a deep cleaning of all four quadrants. However, she also insisted that I get an "irrigation" with those deep cleanings. The irrigation would not have been covered by my insurance and would have cost $100 per quadrant ($400 total). She refused to do just the deep cleaning alone. I did research on "irrigation" online and also got another opinion from a dentist friend: the irrigation may have some efficacy, but it does not last long and should certainly be strictly optional. It turned out that my new dentist at Pleasant Hill Smiles felt some of my teeth did not require a deep cleaning (so was Dr. Tehrani being overly aggressive?), and the new dentist at Pleasant Hill Smiles does the irrigation as part of the deep cleaning (i.e. does not charge extra). An irrigation consists of taking a syringe filled with an antiseptic solution (clorhexidine) and injecting that underneath the gum line. Almost all the solution just spills out. The rest may linger briefly, but clorhexidine is no magic chemical that will impregnate into the teeth or stay in the gum line. So, again, as I said, it is a very brief treatment with limited efficacy that by its simple nature should not cost $100 per quadrant. That's presumably why Pleasant Hill Smiles does it for no additional cost. 2) She found a cavity, but she offered only doing a resin filling. This was for a molar. I did more research. On molars, a cheaper amalgam filling is probably better (it is stronger long term on molars, which undergo heavy strain). Her office doesn't even offer doing amalgams. At Pleasant Hill Smiles, they offered me the option of amalgam, resin or porcelain CAD/CAM. On the plus side, I should give Dr. Tehrani credit for the following. One of my teeth has been hurting on and off for a long time. Dr. Tehrani examined my tooth, did not find anything obviously wrong, and said that there is a fair chance I have a subtle fracture, but she felt it was okay to wait and see, considering that at the time I saw her, one of my pain flares was apparently on the mend. The tooth did get better on its own. So she did not push me into immediate treatment (at Pleasant Hill Smiles, the dentist now says she can actually see a "hairline" fracture in the tooth, but she also says I can wait a bit before seeing whether to put a crown. I'll never know if the fracture grew in the month between the two dental visits, such that the second dentist was able to see what Dr. Tehrani did not). After one visit to Pleasant Hill Smiles and Dr. Tran there, I'm happier with Dr. Tran. I'll write a review of Pleasant Hill Smiles after my second visit there. read more

Don't need to say more than LOVE THEM! Hadn't had my teeth cleaned in a year (issue with prior dentist), found Spring Dental and will be going back every 3 months to get my teeth cleaned. Like so many people, an upcoming trip to the dentist typically sets up all sorts of anxiety. My response to this was to delay the inevitable, which did nothing to make it any better. I have been going to Spring Dental now for almost 3 years. On my first appointment, Dr. Tan took time to get to know me, listen to my concerns, and was sympathetic about my reluctance. I have been avoiding the dentist for years due to some slightly unpleasant dental experiences in the past. But I LOVE Spring Dental. Its so peaceful there. I had to bring my little ones and the staff had movies and coloring books for them. I was able to get my teeth cleaned and x-rayed in no time. I also felt like Dr. Tehrani was amiable ... while still being very professional. I have a lot of dental work that needs to be done (I knew this even before seeing her) and she explained what needed to be done and in what order it should be done. So helpful! I'm writing this review solely on the basis of my interaction with the business. This dentist may very well be fine but I'll never know that as this dental practice in association with Living Social has refused to perform and would not schedule an appointment for me nor refund my money. I bought a "deal" for an exam/x-rays/cleaning through Living Social but when I went to book my appointment (after I told them I had a Living Social voucher) they had no appointments available. I was disappointed but assumed I would be refunded my money. No. Not the case. Seems they can fail to perform and do not have to refund my money. They offered to put the $70 I paid towards a regularly priced visit of ~$300 but that's hardly a deal now is it? I can go to the dentist down the block from my house and pay full price. Again, could be a great dentist but if so it's a great dentist involved in not-so-great business practices and that's something people should be aware of. read more
