Delicious food. Friendly atmosphere. Menu has lots of different foods than other Belfast eateries.

Fast forward, we moved away to Arizona for 14 years before moving back to New England. Just had lunch at Darby's to celebrate our anniversary. It was perfect as always So often when you visit an old favorite it's not so wonderful anymore. But Darby's is the exception. Same charming and spotlessly clean interior, same amazing food and wonderful friendly service. Today, we started off with a bowl of French fries as an appetizer and they were fantastic! I had macaroni and cheese (without the Cheez It topping due to an allergy to orange cheese). My husband had the chicken pad Thai and he said it was fantastic just as it always has been in the past. The server was superb. My husband asked if the Mac and cheese was white cheese and learned it was so I ordered that explaining to the server that I was really happy that it was white cheese as I have an allergy to annatto which is in orange cheese. She immediately alerted me to the fact that they top their Mac and cheese with crumbled Cheez Its and asked if I'd like her to hold those off. It was really refreshing to have a server so aware of a likely issue with an ingredient for a customer. Just fantastic personalized service. Thank you! We will be back again next year. Loved every minute of our visit.

We came back the following night for a REAL treat... First of all, Tony was our server. What an absolute sweetheart!! He had nothing but fantastic recommendations for us. He was definitely not your standard "waiter". He spoke to us like we were regulars, which we appreciated, considering we were from Massachusetts. We ordered three of his suggestions: wings, fish and chips and the spicy margarita. Outside of what was recommended we also got the beer cheese and GIANT soft pretzel, bangers and mash and the creme brûlée. First off- this was my first time trying beer cheese, so I was beyond excited. I hate pretzels, however. Guess what?? They were BOTH SOOO GOOD!! The pretzel was the size of my giant head and was so soft & salty. It really paired well with the creamy beer cheese. I'd come back just for this appetizer every time. The wings too, actually! I was a little hesitant because I read the word "dill" on the menu but they really tasted more like Buffalo wings with a note of dill at the very end. I think I might be in love.... On to the main event! The Smithwick's beer battered fish and chips... WOW. It was a little different than I'm used to (which was a great thing in this case). The batter was thick and crispy (I'm used to thinner) and the haddock was super moist. Very fresh! I order this meal wherever I go and this is definitely in my top 3 (out of probably 50 others). I was hoping I could switch out the chips for fries because, well, I've never had traditional chips before! I must say I was pleasantly impressed though! They were the BEST and completed the dish perfectly. My fiancé had the bangers and mashed. He said it was good and very traditional. I did not indulge, so I can't relay that in my review. Last, we ended the meal with a MUST try....the creme brûlée. LEAVE ROOM FOR THIS DESSERT! The top was a hard sugar coating while the rest was truly a creamy dream. I might have to stop back in JUST for this before I head back home! 5 stars. Definitely. 6 stars for service!!

This spot is cozy and quaint and full of friendly local staff members. It was Kentucky Derby day and a lot of folks we were watching it as we walked in, ambiance was jovial and loud. Greeted immediately by the hostess and bartender and waited a short while for a table to open up. I ordered the chicken sandwich and my husband ordered the Reuben. He is Jewish and loves Reubens, gets them all the time. He said this one was really, really good. Great texture to the meat. Now, my Chicken Sandwich - was the best I've ever had in my life. I told my husband, I will be holding any and all future chicken sandwiches up to this one as the benchmark. The breaded chicken breast was huge and delicious quality white meat. It was dipped in buffalo sauce, and had fresh slaw, pickles, tomato and blue cheese sauce. It was DECADENT and it really hit the spot for me after a long day. I could not stop eating it. YUMMMM. Oh, we also ordered the pub fries - loaded with aioli and cheese and greens. Fries were delish but a bit too much aioli for our taste. Still, wonderful! Huge portion. Overall, food was yummy, out quickly, service was great and we loved the vibes. Easily a fav for us on this trip and we'll be looking forward to coming back again some day!

We get together one a month to chat about old times and our retirement. We take turns choosing a different breakfast restaurant each time. After a few years we had tried most of the regular places in the area. I was looking for another centralized place when I drove by The Hilton Garden Hotel in Bangor, Maine. They have a breakfast buffet every morning from 6-10 AM. I was greeted promptly, seated and options explained. The buffet, which included the coffee, seemed just right. The serving line had all the usual offerings: scrambled eggs, French toast, pan cakes, sausage, bacon, home fries- not the shredded potatoes, etc., and a fruit bar. The best part was the 2 chefs who prepared to take your order for anything else. I got the omelets with bacon, mushrooms, onions, green peppers and cheese. The waitress was very pleasant and checked frequently for coffee refills or if anything else was needed. The omelets were outstanding, same with the fluffy pan cakes, soft French toast, especially the crispy bacon. I have been back 3 times since January of 2026. Great chefs, staff and food. If you are in the area, you can not go wrong by giving them a try.

We finally got our drinks and were waiting for a table and watched the hostess do her job and then run over and make drinks. Nothing sanitary here as she tore up mint leaves and picked up fruits after working at the hostess stand. Yikes!! We wanted something simple for dinner so I ordered the Quesedilla appetizer. Right after we were seated, a table of 12 was seated next to us, which I knew would be problematic. To make matters worse, they were splitting their orders up in multiple people. The poor server. We waited very long for our food and my husband finally tagged another server and asked him to check. Sure enough our food was ready but our server was busy. My quesedillas were fine, nothing special.
