This is me, visiting my mom at Springdale Village. I just finished telling her that despite all our efforts they will not allow her to go see her son. Her youngest son, who is being released on hospice care so he can pass away surrounded by family instead of in a cold hospital room all alone. #noHearts #heartless

My wife's neck and throat bruising from being grabbed by an Aide.

My 71-year-old wife had a stroke July 2022.I had her moved three times from bad skilled nursing homes. This place has pretty much seems to have thugs running this nursing home in the Administration. Not the employees that help take care of the patients. Yesterday, I was called into a "meeting" in an office due to my negative reviews which made the little man mad, and he told me he is Evicting my wife. said he is giving a 30-day notice to move. Very touchy man. After about 10 months of being there, my wife has a severe rash on her whole body due to them changing detergents in the laundry. I asked them about them changing back or trying a different detergent. They TOLD me no. Well, my wife had her dentures either stolen or tossed out by their staff... She has lost over 80 pounds since before Thanksgiving! Then, an Aide grabbed my wife's throat one day giving her meds. Bruised it badly and scratched my wife. I went straight to the Lisa's office, she's the Social Services lady to talk to her about all of this. See, I called Mesa Police to report what happened and an officer came to her room to interview my wife. Called in a Crime Scene photographer and took photos of my wife's throat. I made the Administration mad and they are "thuggish" in regards of anyone asking difficult questions about their neglect and coverups of it. I am tired of my wife being mistreated. The night nurse at the time kept tossing my wife's meds on the floor while my wife is asleep. My wife couldn't have even reached them. Another thing I went to talk to them about... Don't know where yet, but I am transferring her someplace else. We've had enough.

This visit for a relative was not good. They are short staffed and not able to keep up with patient care or physical therapy needs.

Please don't place your elderly parent in this rehab center. The nurses and CNA's were awful. The things I saw actually frightened me.

I appreciate their direct communication and helpfulness. My husband has interacted with most of the PT and OT team and has been encouraged by all. The place is clean. The only hiccup we had was with the individual a/c unit in the room. The automatic temp setting was not working, but we found a work-around. He largely enjoyed the meals and the special popcorn and ice cream days. They are very willing for pets and people to visit. Another suggestion would be to publish a directory for services ( ordering meal replacements, transportation, billing, etc), otherwise you have to ask a team member to have that person check in. It's a minor inconvenience and doesn't deter the great rating!

I was here for 3 weeks after a serious illness. PT and OT are amazing and very skilled. I pray I never have to be in rehab again, but if I do I will be back here!!! I never waited more that 3-5 minutes if I pushed a call light and there is always someone around to help you or get you what you need. Refrig in room, microwave in room, snacks at front desk, they even have a pastry chef. I simply cannot say enough about my time here. Thank you everyone for being so kind and d getting me strong enough to go home. Gosh Bless

I…read morearrived hoping to focus on healing while I await a surgery that could determine whether I walk again. Instead, my experience so far has left me frightened and questioning whether my medical needs can be safely met. It is deeply concerning that so many issues have occurred within my first day at this facility. When I was admitted, I was only seen by the admissions nurse to complete paperwork and receive a TB test. Beyond that, there was little to no assessment of my immediate medical needs. Before I was transferred, I called two days in advance to confirm that a bed appropriate for my medical condition and severe pain would be available. I was repeatedly assured that it would be. When I arrived, that bed was not available. Instead, I was placed in an uncomfortable bed that has significantly increased my pain. To make matters worse, my medications were not available upon arrival, and the medications I did receive were incorrect. My pain has remained at a 9 out of 10. Communication among staff has been extremely frustrating. Call lights often go unanswered, and responsibilities appear to be pushed from one person or shift to another instead of being addressed. Rather than taking ownership of problems, I repeatedly hear that it is "first shift's issue" or "second shift's issue." Meanwhile, the patient is left waiting. The overall condition of the facility has also been very concerning. The building appears run down, and I have seen bugs in the facility, which is alarming for any healthcare environment. As someone who is highly susceptible to infections, these conditions have only increased my anxiety about being here. The atmosphere throughout the facility has also been deeply upsetting. I have repeatedly heard patients screaming in the hallways, and I have personally witnessed staff members yelling at patients. Instead of feeling like a place of healing and compassion, the environment often feels chaotic and distressing. I have also been disappointed by the lack of basic supplies. The facility uses cloth underpads instead of disposable moisture-wicking pads that help reduce the risk of skin breakdown. Even small details, such as not having properly fitting lids for drinking cups, give the impression that patient comfort and safety are not priorities. I am especially vulnerable to infections and require specific perineal care. I am awaiting an extremely important surgery that could determine whether I regain the ability to walk. An infection could jeopardize that opportunity. If my most basic medical needs--such as the correct bed and medications--could not be met when I arrived, it is difficult not to worry about what the coming days may bring. I am genuinely scared about what this could mean for my health and my future. The one bright spot in my stay so far has been my night CNA, Candice. She treated me with genuine kindness and compassion. When I became overwhelmed, she sat with me, comforted me, and simply let me cry on her shoulder. In the middle of an experience that has left me feeling scared and unheard, her empathy reminded me what compassionate patient care should look like. Candice deserves to be recognized for the difference she made. I also want to recognize the facility liaison, Brittany. Although my needs have not yet been met, she answered my phone call at 11:00 p.m. when I reached out with my concerns. She also followed up with me early this morning to apologize for my experience. Her willingness to be available, to listen, and to acknowledge what I was experiencing gave me some hope that my concerns were being taken seriously. I am sharing this review while I am still a patient at Alta Mesa Rehabilitation because these concerns are ongoing, not memories from a past stay. My hope is that Brittany's responsiveness is a sign that things will improve for the remainder of my stay. I genuinely want this facility to succeed because every patient deserves safe, compassionate, and attentive care. At this point, however, my experience has left me frightened, concerned, and hoping for meaningful changes.
