They were running a special I felt like I couldn't pass up even though it meant a lot more eggs than I can eat in a reasonable amount of time. $15 for 100 large brown eggs! I ended up giving a lot away to some friends so they didn't go to waste, but such a great deal. Their regular prices are more than reasonable as well, but depending on where you're coming from, you just have to make the drive out there.

For their scones, these are not your regular scones. They're as soft as a cookie, but there is still some density to it where a cup of coffee or tea would be a great addition. It's a pretty substantial scone, and I'm pretty full with just that and a drink. Chocolate scone has been my go-to. For cookies, the golden raisin oatmeal one is probably our favorite, followed by the snickerdoodle! Staff has been nice and accommodating! No issues here. Very clean store! It's a very popular bakery, and they can run out of goods before midday. Highly recommend to get here early. Plenty of spaces in the parking lot during the weekend, typically!

She pointed out another favorite Dutch cookie, a crisp cookie great for dunking, shaped like a windmill. This is loaded with a wonderful blend of "Christmas" (my words, not hers) spices, and not too sweet. In case you are wondering, a small package landed in my shopping bag, too. They called while I was out of town to confirm the date and time (between 10-11 am) which was great! When I arrived to the store with my son around 11:15 because of the heavy traffic on 91W I went to the counter and was told by a young female that I needed to go to the pay counter. She was curt and not helpful. There was only three people ahead of me so no problem. But the elder gentleman in front of me, who was being helped by the young man who would eventually help me, took an exceptionally long time with his order. I'm just here to pay and pick up. No problem, I'll be patient and keep waiting. Two other costumers are helped by the female counter person and finally the elder customer leaves with his order and I'm next. The young male counter person then waits for me to initiate the conversation and doesn't greet me with a smile or hello or how can I help. I brush it off. I tell him I'm here to pick up my order, a whole pig and give him my last name. He fumbles around a few seconds and then asks how to spell my name and eventually finds my ticket order and asks what time. The time is written at the top of the ticket he failed to notice. I pay for the order. He mutters someone will be out with my order and disappears. No thank you, no attentiveness like he gave the older gentleman in front of me. Again, I've been in my car with my son for over two hours from San Diego in traffic and this fella couldn't give me five minutes of courtesy. I'm waiting, and waiting and waiting while others eventually come into the store and are being helped and leaving. The older female worker at the pay counter is still there helping customers while the younger female at the deli counter is now apparently on a break and making herself lunch. She stops momentarily when a customer comes in for deli service. I'm still waiting by the counter to make sure I'm at least acknowledged but I don't see the young male counter worker who apparently left for lunch since it's now noon. The older female worker can probably see on my face that I'm not happy and says to me he's working on my order. He? Who's he? I am just here to pay and pick order between 10-11. How much time and trouble could it be to put this order together which was made two weeks prior? A different gentlemen finally arrives with three boxes and two large paper bags that comprise my order. On the way out the older female worker says goodbye and was very courteous. At this point I'm pretty upset because this is not a large haul and this order could've easily been second and not 45 minutes! I arrive home after the two hour drive back home to SD and looking forward to the meat, especially the sausages and putting it into the freezer which I cleared out in preparation for the meat. My older son is home to help. As we are sorting and placing the meat I notice that there are no sausages. It's just sausage meat but no links. I guess it's my fault for assuming and not specifying sausage links on at peat some of the order. It was a huge letdown. I finally tried their Ugleez ($12.50/30 eggs) and besides being "ugly" and much lighter in color on the outside, they were delicious and had the perfect orange yolk! The eggs are also more expensive than the ones across the street, and in reality, I really couldn't tell which ones were better. I know some people are sticklers about eggs, but I honestly couldn't see much of a difference between the blue eggs I got from Maust Farms and the brown eggs from here. My biggest issue with this place was the amount of fecal matter on the eggs. That wasn't exactly appetizing, especially compared with the eggs across the street, which were much cleaner. I know farm-fresh eggs aren't always going to look perfectly clean, but for what I paid, I expected them to be cleaner. I originally thought you weren't really supposed to wash farm-fresh eggs with water, but when there's visible fecal matter on the shells, obviously you want to clean them before using them. I later learned that you can buy an enzymatic egg wash specifically made for cleaning fresh eggs and that the water should be warmer rather than cold when washing. Using cold water can cause the contents of the egg to contract and potentially draw contaminants through the porous shell. So if you're coming to this location, I would recommend knowing how to properly clean and store farm-fresh eggs, especially if yours are as dirty as some of mine were. The people here were very nice, and the drive-through is definitely convenient. However, between the higher price and how dirty the eggs were, I'll most likely go across the street next time.
