I wish I checked the reviews before coming here. Worth Fish & Chip place ever tried in my life. Very expensive for such small portions. The batter they use is not so great, sorta salty. Clam chowder was very thick and has a totally different taste from the usual clam chowder elsewhere. The one thing that pissed me off the MOST is that this place is a fish n chip place and they do not offer free tarter sauce. Wow, what happened to Spud Fish & Chips? Gone are the days of crispy and fresh fish and chips with a ton of fries. Now, is the 2024 version of Spud. Fish that is 'frozen fresh' and the size of a hockey puck with shoestring french fries and small portions at horribly high prices. I get there is inflation but at least put the quality in the product. Like many other reviewers, Spud is not worth the time or money for what you get. If you have an issue with your food, the workers take it personal and are ready to challenge you. Save your money and if you are craving fish and chips, head over to Ivars. read more

This was my first and last visit here. The food was mediocre at best and certainly not worth the prices they charge. Also had to pay $4.85 for tarter sauce for our group. I was a regular customer of Spud Fish & Chips at Greenlake for years. Loved the fish, the funky little space, and the value. The Edmonds version, however, is an entirely different experience. In my opinion, very small servings at exorbitant prices....and the fish quality suffers relative to other Spud locations. Sorry! I grew up on the Alki and Green Lake locations. Alki is by far my favorite but Green Lake was solid. I never liked Juanita and this one was the worst yet. The fish was much smaller and a different texture than Alki and the tarter sauce was definitely different and not in a good way. They didn't have the Spicy vinegar option either. The price was high and I was disappointed. It actually upset my stomach pretty badly. I've been eating at Spuds for over 40 years. I wanted to like Spuds, I really did. The owners were working the day that I was there, nice people. The restaurant was clean and in very good repair (actually, its a bit sparse on décor). The big disappointment was the fish. It is pricey, so I had high expectations. Its wasn't crowded, my order was taken and cooked in a timely manner. The problem was the fish was VERY thin in many places and overcooked. Additionally, the fish had large clumps of batter that wasn't very pleasant. This is a full $20 bill - prawns & chips and a fountain drink. As a seattle native, I miss the icy slushy lemonade from the Spud of yore and the handcut "chips" . Spud of 2022 has your standard frozen fries and an out of order sign on the lemonade spigot of the soda machine. Also no fresh cut lemons in sight to squeeze onto your seafood. Breading was real heavy today on my prawns and very crunchy and dense. For the price, I didn't feel very satisfied. Didn't hit the right notes that were in my memory from years gone by. I was craving fish and chips and a coworker suggested I go to Spuds. The staff was very nice and attentive. I ordered the cod and mushrooms. The cod was good in the thicker part of the filet but dry in the thinner parts. I don't know who their supplier is but it might be good for them to get a more consistent cut of fish. The price was not consistent with the product. If the fish had been moist all the way through I would have paid more. Overall it's fine for a fast food fish place. read more

I've been eating at Spud Fish and Chips since I moved here in 1986. I lived in Jaunita and ate at this location occasionally. I was in the area, so I stopped by for lunch. It is definitely not the same Spud as it used to be. The flavor was terrible, the fish was thin, and the batter is really, really awful. I went to the Edmonds one once and it was just as bad. I was surprised to find that the Juanita one is now the same low quality as the Edmonds one. I now live in Seattle and go to the Green Lake Spuds, which is still the same as the fish I used to get in 1986. Why are the Edmonds and Juanitas stores so terrible? They should go back to the old batter. The batter they're using is dry and tasteless. I'll never go back to either of those locations. Very disappointing and way too expensive for such a disappointing experience. I'd give zero stars if I could. If you want good Spud Fish and Chips, go to Alki, or wait until the Green Lake one reopens. read more

If you grew up on Spids fish and chips then don't waste your time or money at the Edmonds Spuds. I have been eating Spuds fish and chips at Greenlake, the original location still run by the same family. Edmondson doesn't imitate the original in any respect. The fries are standard frozen fries supplied by Sysco or some other restaurant supplier not fresh potatoes sliced on site with skin on. I threw mine out after 2 fries. The fish fillets are so thin you can almost read a newspaper through them. The batter is in no way the original Spuds batter that they have famous for since 1935. It's also so thin you can barely tell its there when you chew it. Double the price it should be if priced on quality. It's sad that the family is letting their name be attached to such poor quality. read more

Their fish is fried very well, and does not have an oil or watery taste when biting into the crispy battered fish! My only critic I have is their tartar sauce. This may be particular to my taste but the tartar has too much of a relish taste for me. But other than that I love their fish and chips! Want something besides fish, their chicken and chips is just as good in my opinion. This particular location is very large, and accommodating. In fact the prices across the board are high for a fish stand. These prices make me feel that I walked into seafood restaurant. They also make you pay for your tarter or cocktail sauce. (Seriously, that is the absolute truth) FRIES: As far as French Fries go, I had no idea that they could be made that s*****.... and if you can't figure out what I said up there you should stop reading now. CHOWDER: If they are calling this "clam chowder" you got another thing coming. It taste more like potato soup that was made with reconstituted potato mash, I don't think I tasted one clam.
