We ordered a mix of items (highly recommend doing this), and while the cod, calamari, prawns, and chowder were all amazing, the mushrooms completely stole the show. Crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside--easily my new favorite side. The location is a huge bonus--right by the water and ferry, which makes the whole experience feel even better. Service friendly and prompt Order kids fish n chips. 3 pieces of rock fish n chips and two orders of mushrooms. Mushrooms are bad. They are cut in haves my guess frozen due to texture. Crispy outside but inside soft slimy and just over all not good. Never again I had the rock fish. Hot crispy the gentleman described it has savoury. Definitely more of an ocean taste. Just finished our after Edmonds Marina walk with a delicious triple fish and fries with a side of Cole slaw! It did not disappearing fact all was exceptionally delicious! The batter on the fish was light and crispy just how fish should be. I was able to order on a kiosk which was very nice and easy. So excited to see a loyalty program now too! Ordered food to go to catch our Ferry, figured 30 minutes would be enough time for them to make a simple 3 piece fish either way fries. Busy place, ambience was cafeteria like. Orders kept passing us up, people who came in after us were getting their orders. I was getting antsy. My bf asked about our order, that we've been waiting for some time...and the guy wearing a baseball hat said "too bad it's not ready yet" We left without getting our order. We were bummed for waiting so long. We ran out the store as we were trying to catch the ferry...when we came upon a street light and turned around to a voice shouting "Melissa!!!". I turned around and saw the guy who worked at the restaurant hand my bf our fish order. I thought " Wow! Humanity and niceness does exist!" We said "Thanks!" And we caught our ferry to Kingston. I have come to the Spud Fish & Chips by the Edmonds Ferry Terminal both with my parents and on my own, most recently this evening, Friday 21 July 2023. My first time with my parents was after the location opened up here, and my first time solo was tonight. I arrived around 6:45 p.m. and found one open parking spot by the windows marked pick up window. Out front of the entrance was a sample menu, which I looked over before making my way inside. Ordering was a breeze and there was seating available, a chair of which I used while waiting. The wait time for my order to be filled was approximately 12 minutes, I got a cod fish and chips with a side of tartar sauce. Cod was flaky and had a thin and crispy exterior without being too oily nor over-fried. For the tartar sauce, it was smooth and I used the whole container when eating my meal. The fries were light and fluffy. All three items were flavorful. I liked the paper wrapping for the fish and chips, it held the fish in place in my to-go bag and made easy the items less messy when eating. read more

This place is incredible. How have I been missing out on it all these years (and by years I mean 89 because it has been in biz since 1935!). Super friendly staff and nice, airy space. We ate outside. Had the halibut & chips and it was to die for. So juicy and crispy. Cooked perfectly and piping hot. I am in love. My partner had the fish sandwich & chips and it was outstanding. Delicious cod, so tender inside and crispy outside. Perfect blend of flavors with the tartar sauce & cheese on a pretzel-lookin bun. So good! Don't often write reviews but - this place was lovely. We popped in for a quick to-go lunch while waiting for the ferry. The staff was happy and kind, I really liked the art work on the walls. Everything was clean and efficient. The food was really good as well, very hot, maybe a touch too salty (but like not in a bad way?). A couple months ago we decided to try spuds over here. Wow, this place always has friendly service and everything we get there is always hot, delicious, and handled with care. So heavily breaded, with one piece of fish being not piping hot but actually cold inside; and, limpy were the fries. Definitely not what I was expecting. Great fish and chips! I'm from out of town and not familiar with the local restaurant seen. I was a little hesitant about eating here because of some of the reviews, but I was willing to judge for myself. I was pleasantly impressed by how good it was. I got the 3 piece fish and chips and it was terrific! Along with tartar sauce, I got the garlic aioli to dip the fries in. It was a perfect addition. A cup of chowder, 2 piece cod and chips, two tartar sauces, and a bottle of water....$28!! OK, I figured for that price, this was going to be good. No it was not. The chowder was absolutely horrible!! I literally took a couple bites and could not even eat it. It had a thick consistency and taste of flour and water mixed together. I dug around and found only two tiny slivers of clams. The fish pieces were large, but then I realized that it's mostly all breading. Every bite I took, even in the middle, all I could taste was the breading, it was overwhelming. I ate a few fries, and then left. Always enjoyed the food and left with a full tummy. Until today. I ordered the one piece cod with chips. The piece of fish was about the size of a sausage patty, and the fries resembled onion straws--it was just fried up potato skins! There was only four actual fries, the rest was crumbled up, fried skins. Normally the fish is skinned pretty well before it is breaded and fried. The piece I got still had the thick membrane on it and the whole piece was mostly grey. Hardly any white flesh. It was chewy and tasted awful. Overpriced garbage. read more

This was my fault because I thought it was the same spuds as alki beach in west seattle. It is not! The clam strips were over cooked and burnt, so you couldn't taste any clam and it was just crunchy breading. The jumbo prawns are just shrimp, but we're good. The cod was ok, it made me wish I tried the cheaper rock fish option. Nothing comes with fries automatically, you have to ask for it. Nothing comes with tarter either, that is a separate purchase. I probably eat lunch 2 or 3 times a month in Edmonds. The codfish is always fresh and the fries crispy. Staff is friendly and attentive.

We were in line for the ferry in Edmonds and I saw the Spuds Fish and Chips. When I moved here 47 years ago my friends took me the Juanita location and it was very good and affordable. So I told my girlfriend I would buy her lunch while we waited. After that it was all downhill. Other customers were served before my lady friend and it was a $37.00 for an order of 3 pieces of fish and onion rings that were fried with the fish. Oh and also 3 condiments. What a money grab.
