The atmosphere is definitely visually appealing--great vibe, nice design. Unfortunately, it's so loud that having a conversation with the person next to you feels like a competitive sport. If only there were subtitles. No music causing the chaos, just a building that could really use some sound-absorbing help. The pork chop was impressively large, though a bit on the tough side. Our waiter was personable and pleasant, which was a plus. Still, between the noise level and the acoustics, we couldn't wait to wrap things up and head out. Went for my birthday. Was disappointed. It's adjusted to the clientele prices haven't went down nor the service but the menu and quality of food has. My steak was very tough. Showed up right around 3pm at open and got seated right away. It was my sisters birthday and they gave us a rose in a vase for our table and told us to take it home with us . The appetizers we ate before was the crab cakes and bone marrow, tried new things and overall they were delicious. The steaks didn't stand out in anyway and couldn't find a good way to cut them. Our server Julia was very nice and attentive. Prices seemed a tad high for the quality. Quantity was good overall and presentation was good. It is very nice and elegant but not over the top where you would feel out of touch if you are trying somewhere nice. read more

My 3rd time at this establishment. Every single time it's a monster HIT! So good. Food is delicious. Had the Fish Fry. Lightly coded and served 2-3 pieces. Great tasting. Tartar sauce is divine. French Fries are one of the best I've ever had. Had a steak on previous night. So delicious. Drinks are made heavy which is good. Great big menu. Bourbon tasting is a major plus. Prices are what you would expect for such a place. The staff is remarkable. So polite, professions and sweet. The server gave us a free piece of dessert for our anniversary. Highly recommend. Will continue to come here whenever I can. This place ca be formal ( Burger night on Tuesday) a nice night out with friends, a romantic dinner for 2 or even some fine dining options. Very versatile. Nice place off the Strongsville town area a bit north of the corner of Pearl and Royalton. Interior was modern and appealing and despite many windows, we were comfortable despite the frigid temperatures outside. We were seated quickly though the place was packed. The dining area was very loud and I had to almost shout to the person seated next to me to be heard. Our server was friendly and knowledgeable about the menu, drinks and specials. The food was quite nice. I had the schnitzel which was perfectly cooked, crispy exterior yet still juicy inside. My Old Fashioned was tasty and strong. Good food, friendly server but noisy interior. Local, full of flavor with a great cocktail list too boot! Service was great, the wait staff, busers and the pastry shed deserve a round of applause on a busy holiday weekend. We were a party of four, nestled in a booth overlooking the Christmas lights and fireplace, my husband went with the walleye special with crispy potatoes, it was delicious. I had the cod, menu ready blackened but it was a breadcrumb base, a little too much but the Brussels sprouts and pierogi more than made up for it. The best kept secret in Strongsville! My only wish is that we knew about this sooner. Do you enjoy cocktails? Our group ordered Martini's, Old Fashioned's, and even their specialty, That's My Jam, and every cocktail was excellent. How about appetizers? We ordered the crab cakes, tuna, and cornbread and all were excellent. Seriously, I've never had better cornbread (it has bacon in it!). Main courses? I'm sorry to report the food was awful. I had the mahi-mahi and a friend had the vegan ravioli... both had the same weird chunky tomato-paste like sauce and spaghetti squash. I thought the fish was dry and the sauce was awful. My friend's ravioli was disgusting... tasted like cardboard. ..I tried a piece and yes, I can confirm, it was disgusting. I thought the spaghetti squash was OK. I was impressed with the drink and wine menu. My husband's cocktail was absolutely fabulous, but his meal was just OK (he had a shrimp pasta dish). I would not recommend this place for the food unfortunately and will probably not be back. read more

Turned out to be a beautiful night Saturday and we truly enjoyed sitting outside on the lovely patio, with live music and wonderful service. Both my husband and I opted for seafood, he liked his shrimp tacos which were blackened and had a great homemade salsa and my coffee encrusted cod was really fresh and tender with great flavor over delicious Brussel sprouts. I wish I had taken more photos but I blinked and we had already eaten half our food. Oops! Everything was high quality and flavorful! I highly recommend the chicken paprikash soup. We also tried the smoked salmon stuffed mushroom appetizer. It was good but needed a little more salt in my opinion and this is not the type of place that has s&p on the table; food is served as the chef intends which I appreciate. I ordered the square burger which was excellent and cooked exactly as I ordered it; medium well. I could only eat half and am looking forward to eating the other half for lunch today. My husband ordered the North Atlantic black cod which he devoured. The cod was super tender and the veggie pot stickers accompanying it were delicious! We came in as a large group on a busy Saturday night (with reservations, of course) and the staff took great care of us! The menu is amazing, it was tough to pick what to eat! Lots of amazing options that are clearly made in-house and fresh. Ultimately, I tried the braised short rib and it was outstanding! Tender, flavorful, and the sauce was so good. BTW, traveling thru to the airport so don't live here. First time it was amazing! This time it was smothered in sauce. The Blackened Chicken was a $2 upcharge & it was burnt, salty Blackened, I had to cut the edges off. The bartender never said that it'd be an upcharge for Blackened either. The upcharge for added Chicken was a separate charge. IF I ever go back again, no blackened, sauce on the side. I understand making money in a restaurant is tough, but upcharging for a spice? Also the first time I visited I wasn't charged so let the customer know if so. For me alone it was $30. I had a grilled small piece of Broccoli, chicken & an $8.50 drink. I came here for a work event and I was very excited as I heard this place was very good! Since it was a large party we got a few choices to pick from - I picked the Sirloin Steak, which came out perfect! Lots of flavor without adding too much to the steak itself! It was paired with green beans and buttery mashed potatoes (which never disappoint me!!) The whole dish was delicious and the flavors all went well with each other! I paired a cabernet (who am I kidding, I drank two delicious glasses of cabernets) with my dinner, which both tasted so good and tied it all together! One big thing I applaud Square 22 for is helping my co-worker with a special diet find a dish she could eat AND enjoy! Out of the 4 things they offered to us on the party menu, there was a vegan dish... but not a vegan AND gluten free option... so instead of telling my friend sorry... the chef made her a special dish - that she said was SO delicious and packed full of flavor!! She ate every bite and was so happy they could accommodate her! At the end of the dinner we all got a serving of chocolate mousse (my vegan/gluten free friend got Italian shaved ice) - that I paired with an espresso martini! DELICIOUS!!!!!! I visited this place today. First visit was many years ago. Amazingly cool decor here. Feels like a place that belongs in Tremont. But no, you are Suburbia. I didn't feel like spending a ton of $$ so I ordered a bowl of Chicken Paprikash, thinking it would fill me up. Mind you, I ordered the BOWL and paid $13 for it. What came out fit inside a glorified gravy boat. I would hate to see what the cup looks like. The Paprikash was excellent, mind you..just not worth $13. Still hungry, I asked for the price for a small plate of fries. $9! My buddy ordered a burger. Presentation was great, but his "side" of fries = a thimble of them...maybe 7 fries in total. Folks, you will like the food here, just be prepared for overpriced, tiny meals with a chic, industrial atmosphere to experience it in. Service was great. However, there are much better value dining experiences in the area. Hell, go to a dive bar in Berea called the Hydrant on Thursday and get a proper bowl of Parikash that comes with bread for almost half the price. And it's delicious to boot. read more

Visited Square 22 again recently. This time, there were just three of us. We were seated immediately and our waiter arrived quickly to take our drink requests. I requested a Stell because they had in on tap. As an appetizer, I requested the cooked broccoli salad, which was amazing, yet again. The waiter suggested adding a lobster tail or salmon to pair with the salad. That was a great idea, but I didn't take her advice. Instead, I requested fish tacos. I told my son that he could order anything he wanted, so he opted for a steak. Wifey requested a flatbread. A while later, our broccoli salads were delivered. And they were amazing. It's seriously one of the best things I've ever eaten. I wondered if they could replicate this dish with cauliflower. A while later, our dinners arrived. My fish tacos were hot and delicious. The fish was tender, flaky, and flavorful and it was a good sized portion. My son requested his steak to be cooked medium, but it was cooked rare. He ate it without complaining, however. My wife's flatbread wasn't all that good. I wouldn't order that myself, after tasting it. My son's steak, mashed potatoes, and asparagus were delicious. He definitely had the best meal, but our broccoli salads made us happy once again. We'll visit again. read more

I helped organize a surprise birthday dinner here. They were so awesome with our larger party, very attentive and so accommodating - they even split the birthday girl (and her husband's) check up between the other couples! Since we had a semi-private area, we were able to bring in our own decorations and cake too! And the food ----OMG -- soooooo good!
