Tried this place while I was in the area for work. I was craving a steak and this seemed like the place to go that wasn't a chain. I got the cheese curd appetizer and the bbq sauce that came with those cheese curds was soooo good! For my entree, I got the sirloin with Mac and cheese. Service was terrible. Lunch. Got water right away but waited 20 minutes for service. And only after hailing a server walking by. Then waited while she argued with bartender about who was covering our table. Only then were we asked about drinks. Was going to get a beer but At this point we'll stick with water and just get food. We walk into the establishment for the first time, charmed by not only the neighborhood where it lies, but the laid back, come as you are atmosphere which we found so welcoming, particularly as it included such warm smiles by the staff. Which was very tasty and not horribly priced at $12. Hubby ordered a beer and then I had a second drink, a Tito's and soda which was $7. The bartender was very friendly and attentive. For food I ordered the Philly cheesesteak with beef my side I did the chopped potatoes. Hubby ordered their bison burger of the week which was topped with pimento cheese and jalapeños. Both sandwiches were good, hubby said that the pimento cheese was a little much but the burger itself was really good. The overall feel of the place is small and cozy with a western theme. Excellent. Looking for something different that would allow us a longer than normal car ride, we heard tell of Gibbs and figured it was time to try. My wife, always a fan of sausage variants ordered their daily specials and loved them. (They change daily, so try whichever they offer. They are excellent!) I had a burger with Bleu Cheese and their signature bacon. This is not bacon as you might imagine. It was damn near as thick as the burger! This was one of my most favorite burgers in Cleveland. The Bleu was tangy and the bacon salty. A great combo! (Tip: the bacon slab is huge. Before eating you might want to trim an adjust the placement of the bacon. It's almost (almost) too much.) And yet we had dessert! Wonderful apple pie with cinnamon ice cream. This is a fun spot. Give it a try. I can't imagine you'll be disappointed. read more

Went here on a Wednesday for lunch with four others. It is casual bar dining. All of the employees were friendly and helpful especially our server. I had the salmon sandwich with bacon as did another person in our group. We both said the salmon was cooked perfectly, the bacon was thick and absolutely the best we have ever had. The veggies I substituted for fries were fresh, just the right crispness with a herbed butter topping, so so good. Two of the guys had the Philly cheesesteak. They said the beef on it was outstanding and ate the entire giant sandwich. The other guy had the skillet meal, again he ate it all stating it was great. I am from out of town but they are locals. While the sausage and corn were delicious, I didn't think the filet mignon was a good value, at $36 for two tiny and skinny fillets. Also not super thrilled that it medium was cooked to a medium well. My friend who invited me ordered the NY Strip, which looked delicious. I'll probably get this next time. My wife ordered a salad, which she loved. We were in the midst of a long drive so did not partake, but looking forward to getting the moonshine pickles next time! Our previous visits to Gibbs were top notch. This visit with the whole family was just disappointing. My son's Mid Rare filet came out Well done, then the recook came out still mooing. The Mac and cheese came out tasting burnt on 3 of the 4 orders to our table. On top of that we felt that we were being rushed the entire time we were there. After all that as we were leaving, and I was standing by the kitchen waiting for my wife, and I see the onions and potatoes they serve to the guests, in buckets, open and below dirty dishes and a trash can. This place wasn't too far of a drive so we figured we would give it a shot and we are glad we did! Awesome space and ambiance, nestled in the true Midwest. I've been drinking beer in bars for almost 60 years this is the only place that has charged tax on a beer or whiskey drink. terrible

Apparently THEY don't care. Yelp and Facebook feedback has been ignored. Gibbs Butcher and brews clearly showed what was included in their fish fry, which is for Lent obviously included two pieces of fish and fries and coleslaw. However, this weekend March 22, 2025 they only provided one piece of fish for a whooping $22 and we had to pay extra for the fries. We would have complained at the time however the restaurant was busy, waiter was rushed and serving drinks to customers that arrived after us, and we wanted to double-check what their Facebook ad showed. The actual Gibbs fish fry we were served was one small fish fillet (split with my wife - 3 small bites each!) and was so heavily breaded that you could not even taste the fish. When we got home we were shocked to learn that the fish fry ad was for 2 pieces of fish and included fries! Gibbs had not provided any updated ad showing what we had been served. We had paid cash and our waiter Nick took the receipt. The photo shows when we were there and our bait and switch fish fry. So far they've not responded to the complaints on Facebook. Speaking of Yelp check out the picture that another customer, Andrew, had posted about how the garbage cans and dirty dishes are all right by the food prep. He said that when he was there, they threw some trash in there and it's splattered up on the meals and the open food containers nearby. Truly not a gourmet meal by any chance if you look at the kitchen. read more

Tried another place, based on using Yelp. I love Yelp!! Parking was a little tricky to find, but whatever. Small quaint restaurant once you get inside. Out server was Anita. She started by giving us some history of the place - the Gibbs Butcher shop is apparently a few doors down and one day they decided to go into the restaurant business, instead of just being a butcher shop. I had the Bison Burger - beef, a strip of THICK bacon, swiss, mushrooms, onions, and onion straws on top. Cooked medium, Amazingly tasty. The blocked taters were awesome too. My bride had a Chicken club sandwich, also with a THICK slice of bacon. The bacon was soooooo good! She was full after 1/2 of her sandwich + her block taters. Anita was timely with drink refills and making sure we were enjoying the food. Yeah, we were. We both exited full + very satisfied. Definitely recommend!! read more
