And somehow, even the club soda tasted exceptional; maybe because everything about the atmosphere felt intentional and welcoming. I ordered the burger, and although they were out of gluten-free buns, they happily served it over their gluten-free penne pasta instead. It was such a thoughtful accommodation. Ironically, because my day in pharmaceutical sales became so busy, I never had a chance to eat my lunch. I brought it home, reheated it that evening, and that's when something unexpected happened. The very first bite of their homemade sauce stopped me in my tracks. Instantly, I was transported back to my grandfather's kitchen. I haven't tasted a sauce that reminded me of his in over 15 years.
