Squaretrade years ago was a fantastic company... It no longer is and hasn't been for the past three or so years. Unfortunately, they are the main game in town. Two years ago, it took three months of calling, pictures, videos, emails because of my window AC breakdown. Talking to foreign individuals who swore they were their own supervisors... Yes, three months. I'm now on week two of emails on two warranties that are squaretrade warranties through EBAY.. They want proof of purchase, more pictures, proof of purchase... ALL THE THINGS THEY ALREADY POSSESS! The vacuum warranty, I would NOT have gotten, but it came with it from Ebay... I detest this company. If I could get a negative star... When I called to ask they claimed it was go e when they got it. I have a picture that I took for them with the serial number before I could send it and it shows the card still installed. I've had family cell phone (4 phones) plan for many years. Before Allstate it worked okay, I just paid the deductable and they paid the phone repair shop. Now I have to pay for repair upfront, submit the paperwork, hope to not get denied, and get paid. Wouldn't hold my breath. The buttons on website to submit receipts, update credit card are not there. Just called for third time. Deductable is $150. At $20 per month, I'm money ahead to just cancel and save the $20 a month in jar and pay out of that. After purchasing new phones & using our carrier's insurance I've been slack in canceling my plans through squaretrade/Allstate. I finally remembered and canceled my plans online. Well, several days later without an acknowledgement receipt I logged back in to find the plans still active. It took me 10 minutes to get to Aqsa only for them to tell me that without having an exact purchase date my plans can't be canceled. I'll tell you what will cancel them, bank payment rejections. If I could give zero stars for this company I would. Apparently one doesn't have a choice of companies for protection plans when an item is purchased at Nebraska Furniture Mart. This company has been horrible from start to finish. One person has no idea what the other has said and everything is wrong. The company first assigned me to a "repair shop" over 2 hours and 15 minutes away from me. This "company" is just a guy - with an F rating from the BBB and a 1 rating with well over 50 reviews on Yelp and Google. I requested a different repair shop and was assigned one in my city that called me and ST assigned a time for the repair shop to come out - and then abruptly and without explanation cancelled that appointment. I called ST only for ST to tell me that I had cancelled the appointment, which was not true. ST also claimed that I had "refused" ST's offer to allow me to find my own repair technician, which wasn't true either. This time I put in a claim on a more expensive item over $500 and they led me to believe I was getting a check, no check came, twice I've reached out a d they are not paying for it. Just a waist of time. I did cancel all other active policies with them, and will be taking my home owners, umbrella policy and automobile insurance else where. I am EXTREMELY frustrated and disappointed in this service! I've been paying for this insurance on 4 phones for 3.5 years and this is my first time filing a claim. I filed the claim 4 days ago, and immediately went to the Apple Store as directed to see if it can be fixed. They said it's not worth it, the fix would cost $600 and the phone is only worth $200 now, but they can fix it. SquareTrade wants me to pay for it and they will reimburse me minus the $150 deductible. I can't do that, so the alternative is to send it in to them. Ok, it's a hassle and time consuming, but will do. After chatting with 3 very unhelpful agents, I asked for a phone number to call (because they do not list their phone number anywhere on their website), spoke to two people and a supervisor and I STILL have no resolution. They say they'll email me the instructions, but never do (yes, I confirmed they have my correct email address). I DO NOT RECOMMEND this business! Horrible. I have wasted nothing but my time with this company. I had purchased Allstate Protection Plans on furniture. Furniture failed. I submitted claims on the furniture. I submitted pictures exactly how they requested them, I submitted receipts. I've answered emails asking the same question in a different way over and over. I finally had an associate say they would approve the claims and reimburse us for the furniture. I even have an email stating how each claim would be reimbursed. This insurance company is an absolute scam!!! Do not use it!!! My phone got wet and no longer worked. I filed a claim and followed the instructions. I called several times and every time different agents requested different info from me. I submitted all the documentation and called to explain the phone could not be repaired. Every time I called I had to explain everything and infact tell them once more that they had the submitted paperwork that the phone could not be repaired. One of the agents infact told me they would get me a replacement via FedEx and I would also get a label to return the old device. After a couple of days of not reciving the lable I contacted them once more and was informed that the prior agent never submitted the proper order so I would have to wait a couple of days again since this agent was going to make sure to submitt everything. Fast forward I called several more times and every time I was informed they were having technical difficulties and they could not do anything at the moment. After several calls with agent informing me of technical difficulties I asked to speak to a manager and again eventhough they had all the imformation the manager indicated I needed to take my phone to an apple store for repairs so I had to once again inform him that they had ALL of the information regarding the device not being able to be reparied. I opened the claim 7/01 and still have not received a replacement phone. I Now I am being informed that the phone was never ordered. This is the worst phone insurance's experience I've ever had!! Second update.... After the nightmare explained in my last review (the one square trade replied to with the generic "copy/paste" letter of supposed concern) I received a phone call from one of the corporate bigwigs in the customer retention department. He listened to me explain this whole nightmare, start to finish, and was very polite while repeating how sorry he is & how much he understands & blah blah blah. He told me that my check was being put in the mail that day along with an additional $100 for the hassle. I was very polite, stern but polite, and thanked him for his time & attention to the issue. THIRD UPDATE: It's now October 7th. My claim was originally submitted on June 18th, receipt for repair (for the reimbursement I shouldn't have even had to ask for since I paid for a $150 deductible plan that didn't mention the word "reimbursement" ANYWHERE in the terms of service. I still have not received the reimbursement check. I also removed Square Trade from my approved retailers on the auto payment list for my debit card, obviously, so they canceled my policy all together. Now I'm out $360 for the repair I paid for AND no longer have device protection on my brand new S23. Awesome. It took literally HOURS on the phone to start a warranty claim for our wash machine. It's 18 month old, with a 5 year extended warranty. We were bounced around from one dept to another. The machine died completely in late Novemebr 2024. TO DATE (January 6, 2025): STILL NO RE-IMBURSEMENT or compensation. It took 2 weeks to arrange (through the warranty) for a repairman out to verify that repairs would exceed the value ($650)." Where do I start, had a washer that was purchased at Home Depot back in December 2024, I bought the extended warranty and thought it would be a good thing, boy was I wrong about that. My wife went to start a load of laundry, put everything in and started it, two minutes in and "POP" and it quit working, called in the GE warranty since it's within one year and they stated to contact Home Depot where I bought it, they referred me to SquareTrade since I purchased the warranty plan, stated it is under one year and they stated squaretrade handles it. Called in and started a claim on the 6th, they stated Monday will be my appointment from 8-12 a tech should be there, wife cancelled doctors appointments for herself and for my daughter since she would wait for the tech to show up. Now here's the good part, they never showed up and no one ever called, called in to SquareTrade and found that they had filed the claim but never scheduled the appointment even though I receieved an email stating an appointment was scheduled for the 11th (today). She told me over the phone that the appointment was scheduled for the 6th (day I reported issues) and I asked how could that be? I just called in the claim that day around 2:20pm and she stated that is what it is showing. "Insert blood pressure rising" Told her I was not happy right now and how is it that your system created an appointment date, I confirmed it when I got off the phone, parts were sent out and received even though we don't know what the problem is on Saturday, Monday rolls around and nothing, wife is not happy and I get told that I need to contact another service provider to schedule the appointment which I went ahead and called, now I am told they have to get authorization and it will take a few days before they can schedule an appointment, frustrating to say the least. They refused to validate the protection, claiming I hadn't purchased the plan correctly. I had to call Walmart customer service and have a Walmart agent speak with them, explaining that the protection plan I bought online at Walmart clearly covers everything. SquareTrade kept insisting that wasn't true, and even the customer service representative laughed at me and the Walmart agent. My issue started right after I purchased a riding lawnmower in 2022. I am a handicapped person who has dealt with a lot of challenges. I didn't think dealing with a "riding lawnmower not working after one use" would be another one. On 6/6/23, I spoke with Supervisor Ricardo who made a ticket for me to get the mower fixed without further cost to me. On 7/24, I spoke to Britney. I explained the situation and gave her the ticket number that Ricardo had made. After a very taxing convo, she said a check would be sent to me for the amount of the lawnmower within 6 business days. She kept giving me the option to have an e card. I told her I didn't make the purchase with an e-card. I just want my money back the same way that I made the purchase, unknowingly, on a faulty product. She assured me a check for the purchase amount would be sent within the 6 business days. They issued me an e-card. I didn't find that out until I spoke to Supervisor Jerry on 8/2, to inquire about the "missing check". Jerry ultimately hung up on me when I asked for the District Mgt or his supervisor. I called back the same day and the call was escalated to Supervisor Fredrick who then escalated to Senior Manager Shanika. I asked if the e-card could be canceled and the check issued. She said that wasn't possible since the e card had already been sent. I explained that I initially requested a check so void the card and issue the check. She said their business practice doesn't work that way. So the call was escalated to the top manager Whitney. She said it wasn't possible to send a check after the e-card was sent. I told her I felt my money was being held hostage and I was being made to shop with Home Depot. I asked what would happen if I didn't use the e-card? She said my money would just stay with Home Depot. She said the only thing she could do is refund the warranty amount along with $200. Of course, it would be mailed in 6 business days. I haven't heard from them nor gotten the check. SquareTrade just had to settle a lawsuit for paying consumers less than the specified warranty. They were offering fast cash instead of paying the adequate amounts. It was a class action lawsuit that they settled in 2023. It might be time to consult an attorney. read more

Bought two iPhone 13 refurbished in excellent condition on EBay with 1yr Allstate square trade warranty. One was reported lost or stolen and IMEI was blocked so the phone no longer works as a phone. You have to figure this piece with your carrier out because all you get is a phone stuck in SOS mode you won't get a heads up from your provider unless you call and ask. Needless to say they took a week and two phone calls to let me know my claim was denied. It wasn't so much that it was denied it was how it was denied. They email told me to remove the lost or stolen claim then they would be able to process my claim. Wow that's some dystopian customer service like they were trying hard to make it worse. I called and the representative told me I reported it lost or stolen!
