Customer service is awful! I called because I had a protection plan for a vacuum I purchased online at Walmart. They refused to validate the protection, claiming I hadn't purchased the plan correctly. I had to call Walmart customer service and have a Walmart agent speak with them, explaining that the protection plan I bought online at Walmart clearly covers everything. SquareTrade kept insisting that wasn't true, and even the customer service representative laughed at me and the Walmart agent. I felt so offended that I demanded to speak to a supervisor, who allegedly approved the refund as an "exception." This company is a scam! Upon opening the box I notice the battery exploded so I immediately contacted Square Trade and within 24 hours they sent another phone which once again the battery exploded. So at this point not I have received 3 phones and none of them work. As several individuals mentioned Square Trade has horrific service for furniture coverage. I have the same issue with my furniture claim in October 2023 and as of now do not have a replaced or repaired couch. I do have an email from Square Trade saying they will replace the device, but only driveway delivery, I will have to pay for someone to bring the item into the house, which is one more frustration as I paid for inside delivery on my initial purchase. TIP- to get Square Trade to address the situation, file a Consumer Protection claim with your State Attorney General Office, this will get the repair or replacement process started. But don't end you claim with the Attorney General until you have the item actually replaced or repaired. read more

I had a very good experience with Squaretrade. I have a laptop computer that I purchased the extended warranty for. After two and a half years the display went bad, color was way off and vertical and horizontal lines all over it. I contacted the company and opened a claim. They sent me a prepaid shipping label to send in for service, somewhere in Illinois. I feared a long delay but that did not happen. I shipped it out on a Friday and received it back the following Monday. The laptop was repaired and I am able to type up this review on it right now. Great job by the folks all around. read more

Received an email stating I had to call them with follow up in (Same info as put in the claim) I anaswered the same exact questions the three times. The third time I asked the girl if it was necessary to ask me the same questions to "Verify" my claim. No cussing, no yelling, just feeling annoyed? She told me that she was a "person" and that I needed to cooperate to get resolution. Thank you little girl for lecturing me. SO I did. Bought two iPhone 13 refurbished in excellent condition on EBay with 1yr Allstate square trade warranty. One was reported lost or stolen and IMEI was blocked so the phone no longer works as a phone. You have to figure this piece with your carrier out because all you get is a phone stuck in SOS mode you won't get a heads up from your provider unless you call and ask. Needless to say they took a week and two phone calls to let me know my claim was denied. It wasn't so much that it was denied it was how it was denied. They email told me to remove the lost or stolen claim then they would be able to process my claim. Wow that's some dystopian customer service like they were trying hard to make it worse. I called and the representative told me I reported it lost or stolen! The treatment we received was absolutely horrible, from being talked down on by supervisors to being hung up on by employees. Our issue was we bought a game system and when we charged it, the battery exploded and leaked (which I don't know about you, but im pretty sure that is a mechanical issue since the battery exploded) BUT according the the representatives and employees we talked to. a battery exploding is "liquid damage" so they would do anything with our product since our plan didn't cover water damage. Our next issue came when they shipped it FEDEX after repeatedly telling them that it can be shipped via FEDEX because they don't deliver to our address because of where we are located. We also have an issue with packages being stolen, so everything gets shipped to our PO Box. After being told multiple times that it wouldn't be shipped FEDEX and that it would go to the post office. It was sent FEDEX anyways, got dropped off in front of a fenced off area of our yard that doesn't get used (we saw the pictures that FEDEX provided us when they delivered it) and it ultimately was stolen. So after contacting square trade because now we are out the product they assured us would be sent to the post office, we are told it's not their problem we didn't get it back. so now I'm out $900 and will have to be out probably another $900, to purchase a new system. I will NEVER recommend square trade to anyone and we will be purchasing protection plans from private companies from now on. read more

Beware! I had a dining table covered under a policy. There was a chemical spill on the table top causing some finish removal. The claim was denied for peeling, cracking, and splitting of leather when in fact the table does not have one stitch of leather. Countless emails and phone calls went back and forth with representatives. The claim was denied when in fact my policy covers household spills. Fast forward to a year later when the label maker stops working. After filing the initial claim, I'm told I need to submit additional proof of purchase because the screenshots I sent in didn't include the merchant logo and price of item in the same shot, despite all of that information being in various screenshots from the Target website, and giving them the warranty number. It's impossible to screenshot all the info in the same shot because the Target website doesn't display both of those on my laptop screen size (15" macbook.) I called customer support and the agent was unhelpful and rude. Would love it if SquareTrade would just send me a new label maker or a check for $11 but I guess it's easier for them to just give people the run around until the 2 years passes. I had to file a claim after a CPU fan failure on a Dell laptop which I purchased thru eBay's Certified Refurbished Program. I really like the laptop but learned after the fact that this particular model has a known issue w/cooling fan inadequacies. Initially, SquareTrade made it seem as though they would make the typically unpleasant and stressful experience of filing an insurance claim/ waiting for approval a quick and painless process. 3 months later and having been their puppet the whole time it was seeming as though I'd never be able to satisfy their requirements for receipts, invoices, certification, email addresses, phone numbers and various requests for proof of this and records of that...they finally, begrudgingly, cut me a check for $51.19 to reimburse me for a $200+ repair. I guess if you steal $149 from a couple thousand of your customers every day you can afford to have Beyonce as your spokesperson. Personally, I don't think she's worth it! LOL (And I love Beyonce!) What's worse is that within this 3 month long game of cat & mouse, the CPU fan failed again and was replaced a second time. This they've refused to even acknowledge at all. As far as SquareTrade is concerned (which isn't far at all), I've been dealt with, I'm over, I'm done. "NEXT, PLEASE!" But I'm not done and I'm far from over it. And it's hardly about the $150. My hackles are up because it's too easy for a company like this to take advantage of people and never see a single consequence. This sense of being untouchable only fuels the greed and dishonesty, so they push the limits of what they can get away with. From a legal standpoint they have violated their own contract and are guilty of discrimination on more than one count, which I am currently preparing to have dealt with in court. In the meantime, if you're OK with being kicked while you're down and then being insulted to boot, then you're in good hands with Allstate's SquareTrade "Protection" Plan. Our dryer broke down and is leaking gas when turned on, the gas company has checked and its leaking due to the dryer. They had a technician come out to check it because we have a warranty on the dryer but he didn't even truly check it he was in and out and said that it worked well even though it didn't. I bought the 2 year squaretrade warranty for my phone from Costco almost 2 years ago. The first time I used it was in 2021. The charging port on the phone was not working. They initially insisted that I bring the phone to get it fixed at a repair shop, which means that I won't have a phone for that whole duration. Does not make sense. Took a lot of arguing, but long story short, I received a refurbished phone. 1year later, the charging port on the refurbished phone is not working again. When I tried processing the claim online, I got a blank page. Told via live chat to call instead. Took me a few days to get in touch with a live person...from Pakistan. They sent me an email saying that the phone that I've been using for the past year was reported lost or stolen by my carrier...WHAT?!? How would I be USING the phone If this is the case!?! Seriously??? Called my carrier, they confirmed that they did NOT report it lost/stolen, and confirmed that I wouldn't be able to use it!! Tried calling back the same morning and I reached someone!! OMG...now I'm feeling lucky!! I'm sorry, but I gave it to that guy with all my frustrations. After multiple holds of 2-3 minutes, they finally found out they got the wrong IMEI number for my current phone, which came from THEM. It makes me wonder what else they are getting wrong!! I got one and she informed me that I had to have FindMyPhone turned off, which no one else had told me they said I only had to have it turned off for a brief period of time and could turn it back on. She told me that was incorrect, I asked why no one else had said that on my prior 5 calls and she said that she did not know but I needed to turn it off. Which I did, then I explained to her this was very poor customer service and I was very angry. She proceeded to hang up on me. I called backed and got another supervisor, who was a bit nicer, but really was unable to do anything other than tell me I needed to respond to the email about turning off my FindMyPhone, which I had 4 times at that point, and did again, she "finally" got the email. I asked for another higher up person's phone number to complain about their service and she didn't have anyone she could refer me to. Ha! So I am back now waiting for the mysterious email to show up within 24-48 hours, with who knows what type of resolution. I pay a lot for this insurance, I will never use them again!!! Square trade isn't all it's cracked out to be. You think it would be easy breezy to file a claim. Nope not the case. They have you Running around like a chicken with it's head cut off. They ask 4 your receipt pic and the price all of that info is already in there system when you buy from certain stores/online retailers. Plus you think your getting a full refund. Nope you can pick for them to fix or replace and in notes says may replace with a similar item or a refurbished/used product. If you choose to be refunded it's a prorated amount. Before purchasing this warranty coverage, I did extensive research to make sure that my device had the same coverage as the one I had from ATT. According to the site, coverage was in fact the same and also $10 cheaper for screen repair. From site: How do deductibles work? A deductible is the amount you pay out-of-pocket per claim before SquareTrade begins to cover repair or replacement costs. A $149 deductible applies to all SquareTrade smartphone claims. This is true regardless of device type, model/make, age, whether the phone was purchased or leased, or whether the claim involves accidental damage, electrical/mechanical failure, or any other failure or damage type. A $25 deductible may apply when a certified tech replaces your broken screen at the time and place of your choice (available for limited devices and geographies). ^ The above about the $25 was for the go. Fast forward a month and a half or so later 10/14/19, I tried the online self help to file a crack screen claim, and lo and behold I was charged $149 for the deductible. After talking to Caroline, an online CS, she sent a link to help me go through the Square trade Go, but after going through the tabs and getting to the payment, they eventually had me paying $239. My conversation with phone customer service proved a online glitch, and that I should call or try again the next day. Fast forward 10/16/19, I gave it 2 days, and still shows $149 or $239 deductible. When checking the squaretrade.com warranty faqs, it still states screen repair @ $25 deductible with no specified device exclusions. BBB contacted and dispute opened to figure it out. I've had a laptop repair claim in for 3 weeks without any resolution or useful information. The laptop has been in the repair facility for over 2 weeks now. They say the part was ordered over 2 weeks ago, but can provide no update or timeframe. I've been in contact with support many times for this claim. All they keep saying is that my issue has been escalated and I will hear back in 1 - 2 days. Except, I never hear back. When I call back after not hearing, I just get the same repeated runaround. This has happened 4 times now. However, it seems that I can get no status, no information, or no timeframe. Just an empty failed promise that I will hear back but never do.
