This is the worst protection plan I have ever bought through Home Depot on my washer and dryer. I purchased a 5 year plan and the washer broke down after 1 year. It took them over a week an a half to send someone out and I had to take videos and email them back to them first for diagnosis. They fixed the drum but did not fix the grinding noise. Now I am having trouble getting them back to resolve the problem and have been placed on a holding status with no wager for going on 3 weeks now. No plan on site other than we will email you back when we decide whether we can fix it, send a replacement or a check of some sort to buy another washer. But nothing specific and I am still without a washer! This policy stinks. read more

Horrible! I have been trying to resolve my mother's issue with her refrigerator since May 30, 2023. Runaround after runaround. Finally, I was advised that she would receive a check for her food spoilage and another to refund the cost of the refrigerator. It has been two weeks and nothing. The good: The customer service rep was patient and understanding. I appreciated that. The bad: The warranty I purchased on my Samsung Wall Oven/Microwave combo isn't worth the paper it's written on. Apparently, if the defective part that breaks during normal use is a "consumable" item such as the glass turntable in my convection/microwave combo (picture attached,) Square Trade will not cover. A new turntable will cost me $40-$50...what's the point of purchasing an extended warranty intended to cover manufacturing defects if the warranty is not honored when a defect occurs, regardless of the part type? Recently sent in refurbished Sennheiser headphones for minor repair (mode button was stuck, didn't want to try to fix myself if a pro could do it). Fix was supposed to take a few days according to them. They kept my headphones for weeks, then they inform me they are "salvaged" and they are forcing me to sell them to them for the bargain I got them for (all time low price for these headphones). When I emailed/calls them right away after receiving this update, they inform me: No replacement, no way of getting my headphones back. Out of my heaphones now, and cannnot buy even a used set with the forced "payout". Never, ever, dealing with this company (or Allstate insurance) again. Before AllState Owned SquareTrade they were a great company and offered a great extended warranty service. Ever since AllState acquired them I have seen the service go steadily down hill. Today I logged into my account for the first time in a while to check on some warranties I have with them. The site is now a one page list of all your warranties with no details unless you click on each one and all the added personal detail that I added is all gone so I can identify each product. For instance I have several TV warranties and had them labeled by room or location (ie basement) that is all now been removed. The most frustrating thing is that there is no direct email address or phone number listed on their site to contact them to discuss anything. I don't want to file a claim in order to just have a basic conversation. The structure of their new website is just another step backwards. read more

If you need a screen repair this is an easy process but if your phone is damaged beyond repair they make it absolutely horrendous. They brag about being able to do everything online and that's an absolute lie. They use dirtbag repair companies that try to extort cash out of you from your own pocket and then when you report them to square trade they send you emails telling you that you need to call them to get it resolved. I've spent nearly 4 hours and 3 days on the phone trying to get them to fix the issue Repeating myself to every single individual I've spoken to because they're too stupid to use a computer and can barely comprehend English. The SquareTrade goal is to waste your time until you just give up or your hours spent are worth more than than the claim was. I have a television they "backed" and the manufacturer left the states entirely. They no longer have stateside support, service or parts and haven't for the last 2 years. I have spent hours over several different days on hold, repeating my claim story twice each time. They wanted pictures and videos of the problem... provided. Then they wanted a picture of the serial number on the back. That involves taking the giant 85" tv off the bracket... fine. Picture provided. Next I have to wait for a technician to see it in person. I wait for my Friday appointment, nothing. No call. He finally arrives the following Tuesday. Verifies everything I already showed them in both pictures and videos- (I have a half working TV). Now I wait again. No communication from Square Trade. The technician confirms that no parts are available, repair not possible. Not good enough for Square Trade! They send the technician back AGAIN, this time to pull the TV off the wall and completely apart. They demand an internal part number even though ALL PART NUMBERS ceased to exist. I allow him in, we take the giant thing off the wall again... he doesn't have the tool required to rip it apart. At this point it has been 3 weeks of phone calls, emails, appointments... and even taking the TV apart would likely take my half working TV to a non-working TV and they still wouldn't pay the claim. Edit: cautiously optimistic as they seem to have reversed course this morning and are sending a TV. Will update if they follow through. ANOTHER UPDATE... you know it's going to be bad. Remember last week they made the "repair appointment" for today at noon. Thought I would update about the really questionable "repair appointment" I had today. First, the appointment was for noon. Noon to 4pm to be precise. I'm disabled, take a million pills (it seems like) so like most disabled people I have a routine I have to stick to, especially when taking meds. We don't swallow a bunch of pills at once and in the mornings, you tend to eat a meal and space out the meds to help your stomach. I know a lot of people don't understand that but if your disabled, you do. That's why I schedule after noon to make sure I have no issues. He called at 10am, said he was like right around the corner. I told him my appointment was at noon. I explained the med issue and that I was in the middle of breakfast/meds and he still wanted to come over. I told him no it had to be noon. He kept bugging m and finally he gave up. But on his side he did arrive exactly at noon. Kudos for that even though he bullied a little in the beginning. But then it went south. The guy showed up with no tools, not even a tape measure, which he asked to borrow. That's when I knew that my chair wasn't getting fixed. Also, since that company only does wood & upholstery, he didn't even have tools for a wood or upholstery repair. There was no way that any repair was happening today. He also didn't know what the part was that sheared off the chair. I told him I was flipped over backwards on the chair three times. Mind you I'm disabled so if someone hadn't been present when I was flipped over, I wouldn't have been able to get out from under it. He said over and over that I could still use the chair. I told him the bar was a support bar for the back (I figured that out when we moved the chair and the bar literally fell off) and there was no way I was going to use the chair again.  He's literally asking for Squaretrade to get a lawsuit if someone got hurt, like me, using the broken chair. Just like the other reviews on Yelp, he said the part (that he had no idea what it was) would have to be ordered and would arrive in two weeks. Also, he only took a pic of it and left the part here. If he didn't know what the part was, how did he know how long it would take to arrive? Just like in all the other reviews, they would tell the people two weeks and the part would never arrive. Amazingly, when I post updates I do hear from Squaretrade so hopefully they will call (they do have my number) and we can have a really frank discussion on their next options, cause my only next options seem to be legal. read more

We had a square trade plan on it and called Square trade and they said we would not be getting a Samsung TV but they would send us an LG TV instead. We had no choice in the matter and hate the LG TV so buyer beware, before you buy a protection plan make sure you don't care what kind you get to replace it with. i've been dealing with my situation with Square trade for over 3 1/2 weeks my Xbox series X was not fixed. They told me they were gonna send me a check to email. I never got it then I spoke with a higher level company. They told me they were going to send me two checks one with my protection coverage and the second check was going to be for the coverage of the Xbox here it is three and they have week later and nothing. I've been checking my mailbox every day which I do and nothing. I really don't understand why one the Xbox wasn't fixed and as I put this review on here, my Xbox is still under warranty with square tray and I have not anything with them. My husband and I have been "working" with SquareTrade for years (because we bought coverage and are seeing it though until our policies expire) and you would think that SquareTrade would become a better company, but unfortunately that is not the case. It takes absolutely to much effort to file a claim. They say that you can make a claim online, but once we tried it prompted me to call a specialist. We called in and the specialist sent an email for a "hassle" free claim process, but that was not the case. And so it began... we were going in circles. We started a chat only to end up being told to call in for a specialist to help us because cell phone claims can not be done over chat. Why was that not the first thing that was said? Why did it take a 10 minute chat to be told to call in because they are not capable to process cellphone claims over chat? So... we called in and were on the phone with a "specialist" for over an hour trying to process a claim and it was beyond frustrating. The specialist went back to trying to send us an email so we can file a claim online, and I was beyond frustrated. It was hard to understand her as there was a lot of background noise and her accent was thick. She didn't seem to know what she was doing because she asked for information, but use the incorrect terms. For example, she would ask for a serial number when in fact she needed the IMEI number. I am not tech savvy, but I know those are two different numbers. All in all, the experience was frustrating and we are not hopeful that she completed the claim correctly because the update we received on my SquareTrade account was a claim for my husband's phone and not mine. It was a task to communicate that to her, she didn't understand that she had started a claim for the wrong Note 9. We might have only had 1 positive hassle free experience when dealing with SquareTrade and I have submitted at least 10 claims over the years. I already know that I have to prepare for a fight to get what I need... typically I have to escalate my call and ask to speak to management in the states because the specialist in India have no idea how to help. They are scripted and typically are lost when the answer is not in their script. SquareTrade/Allstate... sadly your customer services in sub par I don't recommend you to my friends and family. I always say, "They are whatever and you will have to fight to get what you need." That statement still stands true today. read more

1. I purchased 2 warranties through Square Trade. On both policies the period was shorted by one year which I discovered when I filed a claim. I had to spend quite some time to argue with several ST employees to get the coverage period properly extended. If this is ST's habit then they save themselves hundreds if not thousands of years of coverage. 2. During claim proceedings someone misread the purchase price and the settlement was short. This was confirmed via chat. I was told no less than 4 times that the check for the remainder would be sent, once even that it had been sent and must have gotten list. On email inquiry I was told twice that I was not entitled to any more as the maximum had been paid. Who is lying? The 4 people who told me it was going to be mailed or the email respondent? I no longer trust ST and will not ever purchase coverage from them. read more

SquareTrade has no intention of fixing, replacing or refunding you your money if anything happens to your purchase. I started a claim in March 2024, due to spots being on my sofa but I did not follow through with the claim because the sofa was still usable. After kids and everyday use by my family, the springs have gotten weaker and you're basically sitting on the floor, when sitting on the sofa. In November 2024, I made a claim on the springs being too broken or weak to use, since October (about 2 weeks prior). The CSR was rude while speaking with me and then SquareTrade denied my claim because I did not follow up on my claim about the spots in March and saying The spring damage happened in mid October and my claim was filled November 8th. Also, said that I cannot claim the spot or the springs again. Which is basically saying that SquareTrade will not be honoring my protection plan as promised. What am I Supposed to do with a sofa that I can't sit on without being injured? Are you telling me that you don't care about my family's wellbeing after I paid you cash for a protection plan? I reported that the springs are damaged and when sat on the person drops to the floor. I don't have money to throw away. When someone is seriously injured from this sofa you will be the first person written in my report because you did not honor your words with this so called protection plan. You will be responsible. I have two more protection plans with SquareTrade, that I would like to be reimbursed for since they have already proven to be unreliable. This place is a racket. They seem to do whatever they can to avoid remitting payment on their protection plans. I purchased a protection plan for an expressomaker. The product needed repair after the expiration of the factory warranty period and while the protection plan was active. They indicated that I needed to find (my time and effort) a 'local repair center' to repair the item, and I would be reimbursed 'within one business day' after submitting my repair receipt. It has now been over a month, and I still have not received reimbursement in spite of contacting SquareTrade over 7 times. The latest excuse is that the repair needed to be 'verified', even though I provided a receipt (showing my payment of the charge to the repair shop). Life is too short to deal with untrustworthy businesses. UPDATE: My claim was finally resolved after I submitted a complaint to the BBB, posted this, and other reviews, of my experience, and contacted SquareTrade two additional times about my request. After all of that effort I did receive notification that you would actually honor their protection contract and remit payment to me as they are required to do under that contract. It only took a significant amount of time and effort (9 different contacts with SquareTrade; posting negative reviews, and contacting the BBB) to get to that point. If SquareTrade spent a fraction of the amount of effort it seems to spend responding to public complaints about your customers' crappy experience with your claims process actually FIXING your claims process, it would likely be very good for for its business. From my experience, it's business model seems to be to make it as difficult as possible for a customer to receive reimbursement, hoping that their customer will simply give up. The only time I got any actual movement from SquareTrade is when I filed a complaint and posted reviews of my experience. read more

While all the customer service people were quite nice (if slightly robotic), the actual warranty was absolutely trash - if you are trying to get a warranty for an expensive item (or god forbid, an expensive item on a deal) DO NOT get a square trade warranty! I bought a laptop less than a year ago, and right at the beginning of college, a fuse in the battery blows. I looked into fixing it myself, but it is one of those laptops that require specialty tools to open, so I decided to trust my warranty and get in contact with them. I was confident that I would be getting my laptop by the end of the following week as the site boldly proclaims that repairs take 2-5 business days, and the battery for my laptop is a rather common one that tends to be around $50-60. Unfortunately, that is not what happened. Two weeks after receiving the email confirming the item had arrived, I finally decided to start looking into what was taking so long. Turns out it took them 8 full business days to order a battery! Fast forward another week, and they say that the item should be repaired by the end of the next day. Two days go by and still nothing, so again I contact them, and that is when the bombshell drops -- the item is now irreparable. After another few days of constant hassling about how the heck a simple battery transfer turned into an irreparable item, I get that it appears to be "beyond economical repair". That's a funny one, because it sounds like an analysis that you do at the BEGINNING of a repair, not THREE AND A HALF WEEKS LATER. The only way I see a $50-60 battery replacement becoming "beyond economical repair" is if they pay someone to spend 3.5 weeks ordering a friking battery to go just barely above the amount of the claim. The worst part is I got the laptop on a pretty decent discount, so the payback would not even cover 75% of the actual hardware cost of a similar laptop, and their secret company rules prevents them from the shipping the item back. fml TL:DR Not only do they take 4-5 times longer than expected to do anything, but if you have an expensive item their No.1 goal is to perform whatever action gives them more money, aka, don't buy their warranty if you have any kind of discount. Edit: Received a quick and efficient call from an agent at square trade that was able to give me a bit more information on my claim and a refund on the warranty. I used to buy Square Trade warranties without hesitation. In years previous to their purchase by Allstate, they were responsive and responsible. SADLY, neither is true now! BEFORE you buy a warranty, READ the fine print and make sure you understand it. IF the product dies, you will NOT receive refund of the full purchase price! You may receive whatever Square Trade determines to be an "equivalent product" and you will not have ANY say in the choice. Recently, I needed to file claims under two warranties: one for a television and one for a universal remote control. Coincidentally, the television warranty was nearing its termination date when the TV started failing. That should not matter. As I pointed out to Square Trade when they balked at honoring the warranty, we have a CONTRACT! Initially, Square Trade tried to weasel out of honoring the warranty. Fortunately, I had documentation of the first several times I had contacted them about the TV, a few months before the end of the warranty period. They could not deny those contacts. Between my initial contacts and my final claim I tried to fix the problem ... since the problem involved the SMART features of the TV, this required numerous calls to both my internet provider, streaming services and the TV manufacturer. I needed to determine where the problem lay. It WAS the TV! This took time. After I threatened to file a complaint with my State Attorney General, Square Trade agreed to honor the warranty and offered me a list of 3 TVs they deemed "equivalent." The warranted TV originally sold for around $700. The proffered replacements were all retailing less than $400. ADMITTEDLY, it is difficult to find "equivalence" because technology moves forward. I spoke numerous times with Square Trade because none of the TVs had Bluetooth or a headphone output that I need to connect with my hearing aids. Through my own research, I identified a TV with Bluetooth that was in the same price range as the 3 offered. To their credit, Square Trade honored my request and sent that model. UNFORTUNATELY, the brand new TV was DEFECTIVE out of the box. NOT Square Trade's fault!! That TV went back and I asked for a different brand replacement. I was given a choice of ONE TV (no choice). I BEGGED to be able to pay more and get a better model with the features I needed/wanted. I was told by several Square Trade representatives either in India or Pakistan, "You cannot do that. We've determined that this TV is equivalent to the one that was covered by the warranty." Yes, the replacement TV is allegedly 4K (although Consumer Reports says that technology called HDR does not work too well in this level of TV and HDR is necessary for 4K viewing) while the original TV was only a 1080HD TV. As I said, technology moves on. NOTABLY, the original TV had a headphone output jack into which I connected a Bluetooth transmitter for my hearing aids. The replacement TV has NO WAY to connect to headphones! But that is not so much the point, the point is that Square Trade was 100% INFLEXIBLE if they thought whatever I was requesting would cost them a nickel more! The second item, a universal remote that cost me $17.49 four months ago covered by a one year Square Trade warranty. Many of the buttons stopped working so I filed a claim. I EXPECTED to receive either a replacement remote or a refund of $17.49. HAH! Square Trade prorated the value and sent me a refund of $15.02 As I wrote above, read the fine print! In the future, I will think THREE times before ever buying a Square Trade warranty again! I hope there are competing companies. Added in response to company reply: HOW COME "Angelique P." signs with the initials "T.G."? IF a reader of MY review reads the company response, keep one thing in mind, I BEGGED Square Trade to be allowed to spend more of MY money to buy the model that I wanted with the features that I needed to accommodate my hearing loss. Been fighting with this company all weekend because their Indian based call center does not understand what a preorder is from GameStop. I pre ordered a Switch back in Jan 2017. It was delivered to me on March 4, 2017, and I bought a three year SquareTrade warranty on March 25, well within the 30 days. Fast forward to March 20, 2020, we have a crack in the screen. Squaretrade is refusing to budge on the warranty because I "purchased" the Switch in Jan 2017. Never mind anyone in the USA didn't have a Switch until 3/2/2017. I've sent them my credit card statement showing the charge post on 3/4 for the Switch, I've sent them all the GameStop emails, and nada. I'm about at the point to file a complaint with the GA State Attorney of Consumer Protection. All because their offshore people don't understand what a "preorder from GameStop" is. read more

HomeDepot: What a nightmare. The plan is by Squaretrade / Allstate Protection Guarantee. They are hard to work with. First you can not get through on the phone to file a claim, next they want to send you a text link to file a claim online. Be prepared to jump through hoops for days on end. They want a Photo of Your receipt so be prepared and take that when you buy it as receipts fade over time. Next they want a photo of the serial number and tag on the machine. Make sure you take that before you put the washer in place. My laundry room is small and tight a hard time pulling it out. Next, make sure you have a video camera. They will not send someone out until you videotape what the issue is. The video has to be short enough so that you can attach it in an email. good luck with this one. Now wait 2 - 3 days, You will then receive an email asking you to call them. Good luck getting through. At that time they will now verbally ask you for the serial number, your plan, receipt all the same stuff. At the end of that call, they will tell you that you will receive another email in the next 2 - 3 days with the next step (or hoop for your to jump through) At this point it has been over a week and I still do not have a service appointment to fix it. I assume that if they fix it, I will have someone come out or they will have me try to service it myself first (yes they will send you a part and ask you to install it, what am I a plumber? They did this for my dishwasher) At this point I still have no resolution and waiting for the next hoop. Why did I ever buy the five year warranty? I still have 3 years left on it. At Bestbuy, I bouht a range, they sent out a geeksquad member and it was repaired within a week. I purchased a 12v ride on ATV for my daughter on a Black Friday sale in November of 2021. I had never heard of the brand so when they offered the warranty for an extra $10 I thought why not. She doesn't really get the chance to ride it much because we live in Louisiana and it's very hot here in the summer. We decided since the weather was nice we would charge it up and let her ride it. We charged it up for a few hours and she rode it for maybe 10 seconds before it died. So we thought maybe it didn't charge enough and charged it overnight and the same thing happened. I filed a claim and sent a pic of the receipt (luckily I bought it from Walmart online or I might have not still had it) they responded quickly and asked me if I wanted a gift card for $92, a replacement, or take it to get repaired and they would reimburse me. I choose the replacement but knew it would be difficult to find one at that price since it was a Black Friday special. The next day they emailed me saying they could not find a replacement and sent me a gift card for Walmart for $99. I really wanted my daughter to get another ATV but was so happy I got the full purchase price back. Especially considering my protection plan would have expired the next month. In the middle of a horrifying experience with Squaretrade. I paid for insurance on an Android Galaxy S9 that I bought at Costco in Jan 2018, which is now bricked. Squaretrade could not find my policy. They told me to find the receipt. I could not find it but found the SQUARETRADE POLICY with a POLICY NUMBER ON IT. Called, and chatted, but they still could not find it EVEN WITH THE POLICY NUMBER. I eventually called Costco, and the woman there was wonderful and found my proof of purchase right away and emailed it to me. I have now sent the proof of purchase AND the policy number to Squaretrade via email, and no one is getting back to me; meantime, no phone. I will write again if they rectify, but all I can say is if you get Squaretrade, SAVE YOUR BLOODY RECEIPT! read more

we got SquareTrade protection on our washing machine just under 3 years ago. The washer malfunctioned this month and repairs were difficult, its been very hard to get parts (not anything that SquareTrade could do about that, there is just limited availability) and due to high demand, there is limited availability of the technicians contracted to do repairs as well. SquareTrade totally held up their end of the warranty as promised to the best of their ability. It was a frustrating 2 weeks waiting for the repair attempts but on day 15 when I reached out to ask about replacing the unit, I was surprised to find they had already started the process of getting us a refund and only needed a signature to move forward. Our money is on the way, I am able to order a new washer. I will definitely make sure i get a SquareTrade protection plan for my new one and any appliance in the future read more
